Good hotel for the price

I just stayed three nights at this hotel and was quite happy with it. There is nothing extraordinary about the hotel but it has everything you want. It is located very close to the airport and the freeways, so it is very accessible. The room was great and the staff helpful. The restaurant is kind of sad but breakfast is really nice.

The hotel amenities listed there was FREE high-speed internet access. When I plugged in my laptop I was prompted to pay $7.95 per day access fee.

We were there for the Long Beach 'International Quilt Show" it was close.. Staff was Very Friendly & helpful... Only 2 problems Bed was SO HARD UGH !!! Also not very good for Handicap or anyone whom doesn't walk well.. Only 1 Elevator & Ice on 1 side of Bldg. so our room was on the opposite side of the Bldg. & it was a Very Long walk as Mom has trouble walking up stairs... I did as to be close to elevator & why but was given a room on the Far side of hotel, so it was a Long Slow walk for her... Other than that, it was good... Oh ya right next door to Von's !!! Refrigerator but no Microwave if you are staying for awhile

The hotel was gorgeous. Unfortunately, when we entered our hotel room we noticed that it had not been cleaned after the last guest. We called the front desk, and they quickly gave us a new room. We paid for waterview but the room they gave us had a view of the roof of the adjacent building. We requested the previous room be cleaned, so we could stay there instead. We were able to go back to the previous room, and we were very happy with it.

major hiccup but wonderful otherwise

My husband and I were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary and couldn't afford the time to travel anywhere because of his work schedule. We took a "staycation" here--we live in Long Beach and chose to stay at this newer hotel because it looked beautiful in the pictures. We thought we reserved a room with our own private balcony because it said it had a "water view," which it did, but no balcony. :( It was our mistake. However, we may have had a better room because the ones we saw with balconies had lots of people outside with music, drinking and ours was nice and quiet. We stayed in building #4, which I think is the best because it is right next to the pool and has the fitness center rooms on the first floor. Our room was next to the pool but no windows by it so if the pool was ever crowded, (which it never was while we were there), it would not have been loud at all.
Everything was immaculate including the bedding all being stark white and wonderfully soft. One major hiccup though. There was a condom on the floor next to our bed which we think someone may have thrown in to the room when we went out for dinner. We forgot to shut the door completely and never saw it when we first arrived. When we came back the door was ajar, nothing was missing, the room was spotless, but there was a single opened (though clearly not completely used) condom on the floor!! It was a bit horrifying, but the response of the staff was fast and the best it could have been given the situation. It was all really odd since it was not there when we arrived--we wondered if someone through it there to get the cleaning person in trouble or something. Anyway, it is something that could happen at any hotel and everything else there was wonderful, so we overlooked it.
We had a wonderful time and relaxed in the whirlpool before bed, which is next to the pool. I will say though that the music playing by the pool made us feel like we were in a nightclub, and we are not that type of people.
One last thing--upon arrival and check-in, we were each handed a large, warm, yummy chocolate chip cookie. That made the $15 per night parking seem like no big deal (we think that is their way of easing that blow). It was really yummy!

Staff very friendly, especially Manager. Extensive Continental Breakfast Menu amazing & all foods were fresh. Rooms were comfortable & clean. Could realize extra efforts inside & outside hotel to please customer. Only suggestion for improvement in quality of bedspread. Would recommend & return ourselves. Previously visited Super 8, Escondido, which was deplorable & awful.

This hotel is located right behind elementary school and during weekdays is a lot of noise in the morning. Also the continental breakfast that the hotel offers is very poor and not to many choices to pick.
In my opinion, I wouldn't stay again in this hotel

This location has easy access to the freeways to get to the oceans easily. However I had an incident with a tenet who hit my car and just drove off. which it turned out that the employees there knew the people who hit my car however offered no help until after the police had reviewed the camera footage but still claimed not to knew the car or driver. fortunately I spotted the car upon returning later that night and got it all taken care of. and thats when we found out that this hotel is also located on the same street worked by the local hookers.

Spent a couple of days there prior to my wife's b'day. We were impressed with food/staff. A free bus provided by the city provides transportation between the "Queen" and numerous other Long Beach attractions

its my parent first time to come to California. Queen Mary is a good place to see the whole Long Beach Downtown. Its special experience for us. What's more, we dont need to pay the ticket to entry the boat. however, we need to pay 15 usd parking fee per day. i think it should be free.

My sister and daughter went on a road trip and we ended up in Long Beach. [...]I must say [...] I think there names where was fabulous and very helpful in booking our same day hotel via phone. They found us great deals! This particular hotel was very reasonable in price considering it being a mile from the ocean. The room was very clean and spacious. They offer a variety of pillows on each bed which assists the traveler with comfort. The only reason I didn't give them a 5 was the pool and hot tub area was not as clean as I would have preferred. But they where cleaning it the day we where leaving.

Better than any other, free parking was so great. As you might know that Los Angeles is so big and lots of place to go. So I had to rent a car. I stayed there 3 nights and it was great enough.

I have no major complaints about my stay at The Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach I just wasn't impressed overall. The staff wasn't rude, but not friendly or very welcoming. The prices weren't outrageous, but not entirely affordable. And they charge $16 to self-park which I thought was ridiculous- The hotel's location is its best feature as you are across the street from "The Pike". The food/drinks were a bit better than average quality and our room happened to have an ocean view which can never hurt. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be in the heart of downtown Long Beach, but if you're willing to take a cab or drive a little you will certainly save.

We stayed for a night,bed was very to comfortable,location was good too. it had everything like starbucks,breakfast everything in one place and with a kid that was helpful.but the only thing missing was body soap so we had to use our child's soap.

Quick Visit to Long Beach

Spent Friday and Saturday nights. Saturday was spent helping move daughter into her new studio apartment. Didn't spend much time in the hotel, but location on harbor made for good views. Food selection was limited on Saturday morning. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Room could have used a more thorough cleaning before being rented. (Spilled food/drink on one of the night stands). Hotel is not particularly convenient as to location, but downtown is only couple of minutes by car.

We had a great mini-vacation, we went to Long Beach for my husband's High School Reunion. The hotel was only a few miles from the reunion, which made it nice when we came home at midnight we didn't have far to go. The room was beautiful, with a view of the ocean.
The breakfast was very good both days. We had scrambled eggs, sausage patties or bacon, hash browns, toast, or muffins, or waffles, and hot ceral.
Let's put it this way, they had lots of choices!
The only down side, they had the Long Beach Marathon that weekend, so Sunday morning all we could see was miles of runners. They ran down the road by our hotel, so we had to stay at our hotel until they all ran by. So we slept in, had a relaxing breakfast, and read the paper and watched the runners and boats go by.
All in all it was a memorable weekend, and I would love to stay at the Marriott Residence Inn in Long Beach. The only downside you drive over the bridge like your going to the Queen Mary, it's not far to the shops or beach but you either have to drive or they have a tram that goes every half hour to the restaurants and shops. Also, they charge ten dollars a day to park. We got a good price for the room, so we didn't mind paying for parking.

We stayed here overnight to leave for a cruise. We arrived around 7pm at night and were pleasantly surprised when we entered the hotel. The location is scarey and not what we're used to. The hotel, however, was nice for the money. It was clean and had only the basics...hairdryer/shower...you can see the description online. I would only stay here overnight...I wouldn't want to stay longer or hang out in this neighborhood. If you're going on a cruise, it's a good hotel and provides a shuttle.

The hotel is quiet and has secured parking, but it is *not* in a nice neighborhood. Its not really near anything you'd want to go to, and you can tell from the hotel "amenities". The iron in the room is tied to the ironing board with steel cable, so they're obviously worried that anything not nailed down will get stolen. On a more positive note, it was cheap, the room was clean, the parking was secure, and the room was reasonably quiet, so I can't complain too much. If you're passing through, or aren't looking for anything nice, this place works, but its purely functional.

the grand king room was beautiful, and the rainfall shower was wonderful. The room service menu was very disappointing, however, but the location of the hotel was perfect and so close to so many restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.

Checked in to Avia over a weekend for a little getaway with my girlfriend. I was not disappointed. The rooms have great modern style, are clean and comfortable with nice big showers. There is a great roof deck with a pool that looks over Long Beach Harbor and downtown. There is also a nice lounge area on the first floor. The staff was very courteous and helpful. If you want a good value boutique hotel with good access to LB, greater LA and OC areas, you won't miss with this hotel.

I stayed at the Best Western on 1st. street in Long beach, ca..I loved the help and friendliness of the staff as i arrived and checked in. The room was nice, spacious and had a great variety of toiletries. The hotel complimentary was excellent along with the friendly helpful staff at the dinning area. The location was great and convenient to many restaurants and shops.

Quiet and Relaxing

It was a comfortable stay. The hotel was quiet and relaxing, not many things one can do in the hotel. But they do have a cafe lounge that I did not utilize. It was in good proximity of many things to do. I drove to San Pedro and ferried to Catalina. I also ended up on Pine Avenue where all the entertainments were bustling at night.

Convenient to Airport, Great Staff

We stayed here the night before our early flight out of Long Beach in order to avoid the morning traffic on the freeway. The room was fairly comfortable, but we noted mold around the bathtub and the furnishings could have been cleaner. The staff was pleasant and unusually helpful, however, and this went a long way toward making our experience more positive. All in all, a good value.

There was no high speed internet in my room. This made it hard for me to be productive after hours.
Houskeeping took my beer from the refrigerator on the first cleaning. On the second cleaning they did not supply coffee or sugar/creamer.

Very convenient location. Just 2.5 miles from the Convention Center. This Comfort Inn is just a short walk to the Long Beach above ground subway that runs down Long Beach Blvd in a north-south direction
The continental breakfast was served on time 6am-10am, and featured fresh pastries, apples, coffee and a do it yourself waffle iron (don't forget to use the non-stick spray, or you'll be scraping your waffle off the griddle in pieces)
The wi-fi connection was very efficient and fast.
The only shortcoming I noticed was the Fitness room...the equipment was in good operating condition, but like most fitness centers that are installed in what was once a room...the AC and ventilation is not that good...and got really hot during my session.
The grounds were nice and well maintained, and best of all, this hotel was very quiet...overall a great place to stay.

OK for overnight trips
The bad:
Rooms near the street pick up every noise and there was a light coming into my room from the nearby strip mall
The Ugly:
The room was not as clean as I would like. I didn't see any dirt, but I have allergies and could smell the dust, but I couldn't open the window because of the temperature and the noise.
It was a long night.

The registration process was easy and staff very friendly, especially [...]. The room was in pretty good shape, seemingly clean for the two nights I was there. I was there on business and in the evening I went to the LB Symphony, a great concert, so I was in good spirits anyway. The internet was available (although slow speed) for only $4.99 up front for the remainder of my stay. It was not too close to shops or restaurants--in other words, mostly industrial on westside, but cafe to the east. Pretty much spent about $80 on cab fare.Bad thing? Bed! Squeaky, hard and uncomfortable. But, was kinda buzzed, so dealt with it.

This hotel was completely average bordering poor. The lobby was nice and inviting but as soon as we got into the elevator it went a little downhill. It had obviously seen better days. Our entire floor was muggy and reeked of smoke. There was garbage on the hallway floor, which stayed for over 24 hours (dirty, dirty towels. I think they were used to clean up animal waste and left there). Animals were prevalent (noises, smells). The room was surprisingly clean though, and had a nice little kitchen. This hotels obviously scrimps pennies as evident in the lack of housekeeping (weekly), shampoo/conditioner, thin mattress, etc. For the price this is what I would expect and the friendly staff really saved the trip for me. I wouldn't ever return BUT the trip wasn't horrible.

Barely a queen bed and most of the space of the room gone. Older motel across street of a busy truck filling station. I guess for the dollar spent it was OK.
