We were there for the Long Beach 'International Quilt Show" it was close.. Staff was Very Friendly & helpful... Only 2 problems Bed was SO HARD UGH !!! Also not very good for Handicap or anyone whom doesn't walk well.. Only 1 Elevator & Ice on 1 side of Bldg. so our room was on the opposite side of the Bldg. & it was a Very Long walk as Mom has trouble walking up stairs... I did as to be close to elevator & why but was given a room on the Far side of hotel, so it was a Long Slow walk for her... Other than that, it was good... Oh ya right next door to Von's !!! Refrigerator but no Microwave if you are staying for awhile

Staff very friendly, especially Manager. Extensive Continental Breakfast Menu amazing & all foods were fresh. Rooms were comfortable & clean. Could realize extra efforts inside & outside hotel to please customer. Only suggestion for improvement in quality of bedspread. Would recommend & return ourselves. Previously visited Super 8, Escondido, which was deplorable & awful.

This hotel is located right behind elementary school and during weekdays is a lot of noise in the morning. Also the continental breakfast that the hotel offers is very poor and not to many choices to pick.
In my opinion, I wouldn't stay again in this hotel

This location has easy access to the freeways to get to the oceans easily. However I had an incident with a tenet who hit my car and just drove off. which it turned out that the employees there knew the people who hit my car however offered no help until after the police had reviewed the camera footage but still claimed not to knew the car or driver. fortunately I spotted the car upon returning later that night and got it all taken care of. and thats when we found out that this hotel is also located on the same street worked by the local hookers.

its my parent first time to come to California. Queen Mary is a good place to see the whole Long Beach Downtown. Its special experience for us. What's more, we dont need to pay the ticket to entry the boat. however, we need to pay 15 usd parking fee per day. i think it should be free.

I have no major complaints about my stay at The Renaissance Hotel in Long Beach I just wasn't impressed overall. The staff wasn't rude, but not friendly or very welcoming. The prices weren't outrageous, but not entirely affordable. And they charge $16 to self-park which I thought was ridiculous- The hotel's location is its best feature as you are across the street from "The Pike". The food/drinks were a bit better than average quality and our room happened to have an ocean view which can never hurt. I would definitely stay here again if I needed to be in the heart of downtown Long Beach, but if you're willing to take a cab or drive a little you will certainly save.

We stayed for a night,bed was very to comfortable,location was good too. it had everything like starbucks,breakfast everything in one place and with a kid that was helpful.but the only thing missing was body soap so we had to use our child's soap.

It was a comfortable stay. The hotel was quiet and relaxing, not many things one can do in the hotel. But they do have a cafe lounge that I did not utilize. It was in good proximity of many things to do. I drove to San Pedro and ferried to Catalina. I also ended up on Pine Avenue where all the entertainments were bustling at night.

Check-in desk told me they cannot rent the room and it is unavailable. I ask, can we have another room? She answers, "we don't have a replacement room for you. She then gives me the number to call Orbitz. Orbitz found me a replacement hotel that was better, and closer to my destination.

Just a few blocks from the Long Beach Convention Center and downtown restaurants, The Varden Hotel has a great location and is a local historic stop. The rooms are small European boutique style. Very comfortable with attention to all details.
The owners work in the hotel and made me feel so welcome. They offer wine and snacks for happy hour and have a nice breakfast included in with the room rate (oatmeal, yogurt, good coffee, fresh pastries, etc.).
I will definitely stay at The Varden again.

The location is a few blocks from the main marina shopping area and a couple of blocks from restaurants. About a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Very convenient to the convention center. The rooms were very small - not sure I would want more than me in one. The hotel staff was really really nice and helpful.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

I understand this is a cheaper 1 star hotel, but let me help you understand what that gets you:
The good:
- The price.
- A king size bed.
- The bathroom was clean and had great shower pressure.
The Bad:
- The bed was solid like a board.
- The walls were thin and you could hear almost everything outside, including the road.
- The first day we had stained sheets
- The comforter did not seem like it was cleaned regularly.
- No iron, No hair dryer
- The door to the outside had a gap under it big enough to fit 1 to 2 fingers.
