The best things about this hotel are location and price. Very close to Walk of Fame, the Chinese Theater and LA transit (which would be cautious when traveling from LAX to Downtown LA). The room was very clean and convenient.

The hotel is located in the very heart of Hollywood within a 5-minute walk from the Chinese Theatre and other attractions of Hollywood boulvard. Very clean, with very friendly staff, a pleasant and well-kept swimming pool that is sheltered by the building on all the four sides, so you can really relax in the sun by the pool.

We had late check-in but it was great to be by the hollywood bowl, and take a walk on hollywood blvd by walking a couple blocks down, music at bar downstairs was cool and respectable..Overall cool place

Although we confirmed our stay a day ahead of our stay, we arrived to find that the hotel didn't have the room we selected. Instead of two double beds, we had one king and a small trundle delivered to the room. Overall we were disappointed with the room that first night. However, they were able to move us into our selected room the next day and it met our expectations. Service was really pretty good. Restaurant was small but offered a good variety and very good service. Rates ok and location is excellent.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 short days, we had tickets to Ellen show. We didn't want to stay in Burbank and this was the perfect place for us! Hotel was easy to find, parking was free(huge bonus) and we were a 2 minute walk to Hollywood Blvd, which was great. We weren't at the hotel very long but the staff was very helpful and friendly, the pool looked very nice although we didn't get a chance to use it. The hotel was less than 15 mins from Warner Bros studio(to see Ellen) so this was an ideal place for us to stay and easy to get to and from LAX too. Would definitely stay here again!!

Overall good experience. Like the Hollywood theme decor throughout hotel. There are two separate building. The rooms located where the lobby is are larger and nicer. may cost a little more but worth it.

Great location and very friendly and accommodating staff. The valets are GREAT guys!
The desk staff were eager to make my time there as excellent as possible. And, they did!
The room was very comfortable and squeaky clean. The bed was comfy. Bathroom lighting was fantastic! Nice size as well. There was also a fridge, coffeemaker and microwave. Very nice!
My only issue is these coffeemakers which use the paper pouches with pre-measured coffee. Always weak and tasteless. But, to fix that situation, just go downstairs to the 101 Cafe/Coffeeshop and get a coffee to go!
There was a pool, which looked clean and clear -- very well maintained. I did not use it only because it was November and I didn't bring a suit!
I will definitely return and tell friends about this spot.
Just a quick walk to Hollywood Blvd, as well.

Cool little spot to stay at.

My trip to Hollywood for a weekend in the middle of the school semester:
This place is a couple block walk from the Highland/Hollywood underground metro station, PERF! My bf and I, (savvy public transportation users), took Flyaway/Metro to Hollywood, paying way less than half than it would have for a cab ride from LAX!
Check in was easy and clear, the front desk guy was super nice.
Our room was cool. Small, but cozy. Comfy bed with good, quality blankets and pillows. 2 sets of clean towels in the bathroom along with standard soap/lotion/shampoo and even a notice that further need for more standard stuff was no problem. Plenty of mirrors in the room and nice looking furniture.
Because I had to study, the small table in the room was pretty useful, especially when eating pizza dinner just to squeeze in some more study time. Otherwise I think that table would have been a bit o a nuisance.
AC worked wonders and hot water in the shower, no third world livin here!
Small, clean pool with a few pieces of well kept pool-side furniture. Went here to do a pool work-out to ease impact on my doomed-to-high-heels feet. Unheated, so night dives didn't seem like an attractive idea. It is open til 8:30 though.
Downsides:
- Our room (#109) was located next to the laundry room and vending/ice machines. Although our room smelled like pleasantly clean clothes, the housekeeping staff's (when talking outside the laundry room) and guests' (visiting the vending machines) voices were amplified because of the structure of the building where our room was located.
- Our room didn't receive good wireless internet signal, and our phones were on the low-signal side, too. half depending on yelp to not end up at dud bars, but our wandering, adventurous instincts guided us successfully.
Small things, no biggie.
Overall it was 2 points from perfect for what we needed. I would def stay here again, just not in room 109 :)

This hotel is very close to Hollywood Blvd. We walked there both nights we stayed in Hollywood. The staff was friendly and helpful in showing us where things were. We did several things in Hollywood, Beverly Hills, etc. All of the attractions were within 15 mins driving distance away! I read reviews of this being a noisy area but we did not have that problem. This is an older hotel but the rooms were updated.

Hotel needs some remodeling. It's old and had ants crawling in the room. But the room was clean overall. The stuff is very friendly. The Hotel located not far from Metro station.

We stay a the w because it' close to family in Los feliz. One person got very sick and the staff suggested a nearby hospital and allowed us to change rooms when the stench of vomit became too much. We also had to extend a day and everyone made it easy.

Could've Been Better

What can I say about the America's Best Value Inn that isn't automatically assumed in the price? After finding the hotel, we checked in where the man in the office gave us our key and our tv remote. I can't say that I've ever stayed in a place where they're afraid to leave the remote in the room. The room itself was ok. It definitley needed a deep cleaning. There were ants in the shower and strange white stains on the curtains and ceiling. The biggest problem was the pluming. Right away there was an issue. We went to the office to tell the man that the pluming wasn't working properly and asked if they could fix it or be moved to another room. He said that there was no one around to fix it and that all the other rooms were full. He handed us a plunger and wished us good luck. Being a self sufficient person, I proceeded to try to fix the problem with no luck. We spent the rest of the stay without a working toilet. Both beds were hard as a rock and we woke up with stiff necks and sore backs. I will not stay there again. In my opinion, the biggest problem wasn't the pluming, but the lack of service. You don't hand a hotel guest a plunger and expect them to fix your pluming on their vacation. I am not usually one to complain, but in the interest of anyone else considering this hotel, I must warn you.

Just a place to sleep, but kind of noisy in the morning, so you gotta wake up early. The room was clean, but not the towels (I recommend taking your own). I had to ask for soap and towels, as on the next day a few towels were missing after the maid did her "job." the shower will knock you off when you turn on the hot water (cold was fine, if you can handle it).

Good inexpensive choice

Great location, somewhat dated, low on amenities but a good deal overall.
Located right behind the Kodak Theater, the Hollywood Orchid Suites is right in the middle of Hollywood Blvd. The only real complaint about the rooms is that the beds could use updating, the interiors are somewhat dated (they look like they were last decorated in the 60s) but each room does include a kitchenette. There's a pool that's kept very clean and a rooftop garden that's pretty minimal but good for sunbathing. There is a noise problem, as there seem to be deliveries to the Kodak Theater day and night and you're close enough to the loading dock to hear the trucks arrive and leave.
If you plan to spend a lot of time in your hotel room I'd probably recommend another hotel, but if you use your room as a base and travel around to see all the sights and events in Hollywood and beyond it's quite a deal. The staff is very friendly and helpful, there's free parking under the building and a free continental breakfast every morning. If you understand and accept the limitations it's an excellent value.

I was a little surprised at how dated the hotel seemed (I assume it had been an apartment house built in the 50s or 60s), but was delighted at the spaciousness of the very clean rooms and the overall service -- and the breakfast. My room faced the street so it could get a little noisy late in the evening, but nothing that was enough to keep me awake. All in all, very reasonably priced, unmatchable location, and a very good experience.

Great location to central Hollywood. Size of rooms made family travel worth the trip. Staff is more than helpful and the extra amenities of breakfast and snacks saved a ton of money. While the rooms may lack the most modern accruements, they are more than worth the money. We traveled with 10 month old twins and the staff met all our needs.

We visited Manns Chinese Theater and Hollywood walk of fame which was within walking distance. The main reason for staying here was to go to the Magic Castle. Great place to stay if you want to explore Hollywood and Magic Castle. Extremely friendly staff. Old Hotel but clean and welcoming. Loved the free breakfast,sodas and munchies, sparkling cider when we walked in the door and other little extras.

The famous pool parties

This is a hotel for people looking for a party place. The pool area is very nice and super busy with afternoon and evening parties. During my stay around Labour Day it was mostly a younger crowd, low 20s. If you like it, that's your place. Staff stood out as extremely courteous and helpful. From the valet drivers to concierge, they were always helpful.

We went to Universal Studios in 2/2011. Went stayed at this hotel because of the price and loction. Very small hotel (looks like the apartments from the Karate Kid movie in 1984). Very bad neighborhood, everything is written in Korean and the signs to the freeway are very hard to find. This neighborhood is so bad that we would not leave our belongings in our room, thinking we were going to be robbed. Now I have to tell you we are not rich be any means, but if I were you I would spend the extra $20 a night to stay in a better location.

Was Better than Expected

I was expecting this place to be dirty, smelly and rude staff...none of those were the case. The room was clean, the staff was polite and was conveniently located near the night club. The staff called for a cab and it arrived within 5 mins.Parking was fine and felt my car was safe, even though the neighborhood was a little shady. I would stay again.

Excellent location, very short walk to Hollywood Boulevard.
Quirky hotel, very art deco with old film posters all over. Large room with fridge and microwave, table and chairs, but no crockery/cutlery, etc.
Quick efficient check in. Complimentary breakfast, toast/muffins/croissants/juice/tea/coffee.
Seemed noisy at times due to thin walls and open access areas.
Would recommend.

not great, not the worst

My first night there, the fridge froze all my food, which they fixed the next day....also, I complained that the water in the shower was freezing, because I was apparently turning the knob the wrong way (which is backwards than any other shower I've used in my life). So I had a rotten first day/night with a cold shower and frozen veggies, and wasn't compensated for my discomfort.

They were very strict with the guest policy. All guests had to leave their IDs at the front desk while on the premise. If we had guests after midnight it was an additional $10 per person.

This is place to stay if ur not going to be in the room all the time. Its conveniently located to kodak and chinese theatre (hollywood blvd). I loved that the parking was free. The room had a weird odor. the view was te back of upolstery business(not pretty at all). breakfast was doughnuts, fruit, coffee, cookies. The iron didnt work well. I was only there for only 1 night so it was all good.

Located on top of a mountain in the Hollywood Hills. Most rooms offer one of the best views in Los Angeles. Oversized balconies, full kitchens, newly renovated pool area, down comforter, plush Turkish cotton towels, upgraded bedding, Tarracco personal care amenities. Walk to Yamashiro Restaurant, which has been featured in many productions including the movie Memoirs of a Geisha. They are known for their outstanding Cal-Asian cuisine. Continental breakfast and mini bar snacks are available... both at no charge. Just down the hill is the Magic Castle Hotel.

I booked this hotel solely on it's location: near the heart of Hollywood with an amazing view. Don't bother unless you get one of the "view" rooms. Worth the extra $20.

Check in was at 2pm, got there at 3:00, they were still cleaning the room. Finally checked in around 3:30. When I got to the room it smelled liked cat urine. My son noticed the carpet was wet by his bed. I went to the office and complained to the manager while the maid who cleaned the room was standing there. I told him the room smelled like cat urine. The maid said it was not cat urine, she stated the previous occupants had a party or something in the room and one of the occupants threw up and she cleaned the carpet and it was still wet. The manager apologized, I asked for another room. I got another room and when I walked in it was very hot, I checked the A/C and it was not blowing out cold air, I went and got the same maid and she checked the A/C, took the cover off the front of it, and start turning knows, she acknowledged the air was not cold and asked me to give it a minute and she would be right back. I started calling other hotels in the area and if it weren't for the fact that most of them were booked, I would have left. I asked for a third room and it was better. I will never stay there again!
