We had a very good stay, front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a large group and was quite surprised that our accomodation was so great. The rooms were clean and spacious. My only drawback was that our room had an older televison (not flat screen). The other rooms had newer ones. I was told that some of the the rooms are still being updated with newer models. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Clean, close to University, but needs updating!!!

For visiting a student at the University of Arizona, the location was perfect. The room was clean, price was reasonable, and the staff were all very friendly. The campus and plenty of food/shops/etc were within easy walking distance. The hotel itself, however, is badly in need of updating. The faucets in our room made a horrible screeching sound when turned, mattresses were pretty uncomfortable, and the ventilation system was somewhat lacking. Despite adjusting the thermostat, the room was stuffy throughout our stay (and this was in November -- could be a nightmare in the hot summer months!).

We had our annual holiday party once again at the Doubletree and everything was great. Staff is well trained and courteous. Room was comfy but there was no shower curtain which I thought was strange.

I stayed here twice during campus orientation and move-in and we were very comfortable. The Desk Staff were kind, and very helpful. The resturant staff very friendly, and welcoming. The Pool and Workout facilities were great. I will stay here again when I visit.

What is not to like?

My husband and I were here with our boys, 9 and 11. First, the pool was heated to 86-88 degrees which means you are actually comfortable playing around instead of freezing to death. We were there during a slow time, so no waits for breakfasts. The boys commented on how friendly the guy was who made their pancakes. The glass of wine every evening while you hung out in the hot tub was a true treat. Tons of restaurants in the area. While access to the freeway isn't "pronto", the location for what we did (hiking, air and space museum, titan missile) was good. The rooms had plenty of space for knocking around. I thought it was a great value.

We did a Breast Cancer walk while on our visit this time & the hotel gave us a ride so we wouldn't have to worry about finding parking and they picked us up. We had a great time as always when we stay here. The girls loved the breakfast.

I used this hotel because it was close to UA without being too expensive, but that was the only good thing about it. The rooms were dirty, the breakfast was horrible, and the towels etc were not restocked. This hotel would be one of the worst I have stayed in. I will not be staying here again.

First time in Tucson Arizona. Went to a concert at the University of Arizona. Our stay turn out nice and better then we expected. Was not sure where to stay so decided to stay at this hotel because it was close to the University. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
The room was very clean and newly renovated. The complimentary breakfast was very good and it was in a real restaurant. I was surprise that it was a good to order breakfast. They gave you lots of choices, from two eggs any way you like them with a choice of bacon or sausage and hash browns and toast. Or you can get biscuits and gravy as well as hot cereal, cold cereal, and pancakes and or french toast. For the people that enjoy eating egg whites for breakfast, they have a healthy egg whites with turkey sausage breakfast too. If you are going to stay in Tucson Arizona I would stay here because it is close to old town Tucson and University of Arizona.

Came in late at night after a long air travel. The carpet seems like it was not vacuumed for a while and the bathroom door would not shut. We were too tired to call the front desk. Next day we called and mention the problem with the bathroom door. Didn't mention anything about the carpet not being cleaned.
Came back in the evening, the door was fixed and the carpet was cleaned.
Overall the room was OK and was cleaned for the next couple of days to our satisfaction.

Personnel were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and my stay was quiet and restful. The bed was hugh and I was suprised to have a "Sleep Number" bed.
I would suggest a minimal amount of silver-ware in the kitchenette. A spoon, fork, and knife.
I was satisfied with my stay.
I do think that it should be noted that local calls are billed from the room. If you are a business traveler and are contacting businesses in the community it seems excessive to pay for local calls.

hotel did not look the best from the outside but the rooms were nice with a big tv,fridge&micowave,the room was larger than most hotels,the breakfast was good and the staff helpful. only bad thing was that i asked for a wake-up call and never got it,lucky i woke up in time to catch my plane,but the hotel was good,even my adult boys liked it.

This hotel is a good location if you want close to the downtown area without actually being in downtown. It is a comfortable hotel that offers a pool, nothing real special. It is definately not the most spacious, and I've seen worse. If you are looking for a cheap and decent place to stay in Tucson, this is your hotel.

A local helped me find the place. My goal, I told him, was to get the lowest price without getting mugged. He seemed to think that this place fit the bill. The neighborhood did appear a little sketchy, but I didn't have any problems. (Didn't have a car to worry about getting broken into, though.) Polite staff, free continental breakfast okay. Nothing special. A place to get a good night's sleep for $50 a night.

Hotel is very old. Walking in the hallway to my room made me feel like I was in a foreign country. No frills or thrills here. Just bare walls. the rooms are not very quiet, you can hear people in other rooms and in the hallway. Room was clean and nothing "wrong" with it, just nothing extravagant. Front desk staff was not very knowledgeable, but tried to be helpful.

I needed to find a place that would take me away from the seminar I attended. The suite was spacious with kitchen and dishes. The grounds were well manicured, with many areas to relax. This was ideal and serene. It was walking distance from specialty shops and restaurants; yet away from the traffic and noise.

Good location/close to everything

located downtown within walking distance of some great restaurants and shops. Staff was courteous. Parking is an extra fee during the week. Stayed in a double room that was nicely decorated and perfect for a business traveler. Room was spacious and clean. This is not a value hotel, but worth the room rate I paid. Dining in the hotel seemed expensive, so I walked to one of the local restaurants.

This was my first experience with Hampton Inns and it really exceeded my expecations. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of amenities for the price. The room was good sized and I liked that the bathroom was large with adequate countertop and shelf space for my toiletries. I was particularly pleased with the comfort of the bed and pillows which is usually always an issue for me. I liked the daily breakfast offering and that coffee was available on demand in the lobby. The fresh baked cookies were also a nice touch. I would definitely choose Hampton Inns in the future and would recommend it to friends. Thanks!

This recently renovated hotel is located across from Pima Community College, and just a one-half mile from the University of Arizona, downtown, and the Tucson Convention Center. Interesting....to say the least.....

We stayed at the hotel just for one night for business purposes. The room was clean enough, and they accomodated our early arrival (about 9AM). About 30 minutes afer we checked in, we were in the room when part of the staff opened up the door and tried to come in. The hot water ran out a couple times while we were there in just the two short days. And in the middle of the night one of the other guests though it would be a great idea to slam their door repeatedly, echoing throughout all the rooms and waking us up.

We were there on a five day stay to visit family members and see what Tucson is all about. The Residence Inn was the perfect spot. Well located, easy to get into and out of. We felt welcome when we walked in. The staff greeted us like family.
A plus was the complimentary breakfast in the Gatehouse that changed every morning. It kept you going most of the day. Well planned and organized and we never felt rushed.
Can hardly wait for our next trip to the area and another stay at this great place.

We played golf and visited friends. We have been to Tucson before. We loved the complete hot breakfast with a menu that changed each day. The food was of good quality and nicely presented. It was great! We ate a good breakfast and did not need lunch when we played golf.

This 1930s Spanish inspired inn with walled, fountain garden is a contributing member of the Sam Hughes Historic District. Guests can walk to the University of Arizona, restaurants, museums, theater, bus and shopping. The zoo, tennis, golf, MLB baseball, outdoor concerts and year round swimming are fewer than 2 miles away. Two private entrance bedrooms face the garden and huge restored patio area under giant shade trees. Inside find original oak floors, antiques in every room, Art Deco cove ceiling, and large public rooms with guest computer, fireplaces, and library wall. Four Southwest bedrooms 4 private baths. Check-in is at 4 00 PM. Guests planning to arrive before or after this time must contact the property at least 48 hours prior to arrival to receive special check-in instructions. As a bed and breakfast property, the Front Desk hours will vary guests should contact the property to find out more information.
