I was just looking for a basic hotel to spend a night for business trip, and found this resort offering a special price. Glad I did! Was much nicer than I would have hoped for! Wish I had a little more time to explore though, did not have time to use the spa, or much else. The room was very comfortable, everything nice and new. Room was very quiet, could not hear outside noise at all. If you like sushi, try their sushi place, I felt the prices were very reasoanable for a resort, and the couple items I ordered were super-tasty.

We had a very good stay, front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a large group and was quite surprised that our accomodation was so great. The rooms were clean and spacious. My only drawback was that our room had an older televison (not flat screen). The other rooms had newer ones. I was told that some of the the rooms are still being updated with newer models. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Good experience

Faye
- Jun 5, 2011
Needed a room near the airport for flying out of the next day. The room was clean, smelled nice, and had some updates. About time to cank the wallpaper border in the room, however. We had everything we needed including a nice continental breakfast and two nearby restaurants to walk to. Easy check in and check out. We were worried about booking on line and the hotel being in a questionable neighborhood. Our experience was that the hotel is in a good area and approx. a mile from the airport. All around comfortable experience.

We were visiting family in Tucson and stayed at the Days Inn. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The free continental breakfast was limited in choices but nice. The pool and spa looked inviting and clean but it was a little too chilly outside for us to enjoy. The only down side of our stay was that the front desk would only issue us one key for the room.

Clean, close to University, but needs updating!!!
-

- Nov 29, 2011
For visiting a student at the University of Arizona, the location was perfect. The room was clean, price was reasonable, and the staff were all very friendly. The campus and plenty of food/shops/etc were within easy walking distance. The hotel itself, however, is badly in need of updating. The faucets in our room made a horrible screeching sound when turned, mattresses were pretty uncomfortable, and the ventilation system was somewhat lacking. Despite adjusting the thermostat, the room was stuffy throughout our stay (and this was in November -- could be a nightmare in the hot summer months!).

First time in Tucson Arizona. Went to a concert at the University of Arizona. Our stay turn out nice and better then we expected. Was not sure where to stay so decided to stay at this hotel because it was close to the University. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
The room was very clean and newly renovated. The complimentary breakfast was very good and it was in a real restaurant. I was surprise that it was a good to order breakfast. They gave you lots of choices, from two eggs any way you like them with a choice of bacon or sausage and hash browns and toast. Or you can get biscuits and gravy as well as hot cereal, cold cereal, and pancakes and or french toast. For the people that enjoy eating egg whites for breakfast, they have a healthy egg whites with turkey sausage breakfast too. If you are going to stay in Tucson Arizona I would stay here because it is close to old town Tucson and University of Arizona.

We were pleased with the hotel. Even though this was Homecoming Weekend at the university and the hotel was full, it was very quiet. The rooms are well insulated from noise in all directions.

Personnel were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and my stay was quiet and restful. The bed was hugh and I was suprised to have a "Sleep Number" bed.
I would suggest a minimal amount of silver-ware in the kitchenette. A spoon, fork, and knife.
I was satisfied with my stay.
I do think that it should be noted that local calls are billed from the room. If you are a business traveler and are contacting businesses in the community it seems excessive to pay for local calls.

Hotel is very old. Walking in the hallway to my room made me feel like I was in a foreign country. No frills or thrills here. Just bare walls. the rooms are not very quiet, you can hear people in other rooms and in the hallway. Room was clean and nothing "wrong" with it, just nothing extravagant. Front desk staff was not very knowledgeable, but tried to be helpful.

Stayed at the Desert Diamond because it was close to the airport and we had an early flight the next morning, and because of the casino.
Room was spacious and clean. In fact the entire hotel was well taken care of, and the staff was friendly. Ate dinner at the buffet in the casino. Not as big as the buffets in Vegas, but a good selection of food. The prime rib melted in my mouth. The free breakfast in the lobby bar was good too.
The casino has a wide variety of slots and video poker, and has table games too. At the end of the evening I had broken even, so no complaints here.
All in all, a pretty good place to stay by the airport, especially if you like to do a little gambling.

Good place to sleep

Colorado Girl
- Aug 1, 2011
Had a late check in which was handy and very easy. The woman at the desk was very friendly and made some nice conversation. I got up to my room and found out the toilet wouldn't flush unless I used a plunger for at least two minutes. The wifi was also down during my entire trip, which was not helpful. Certain things were close and other things were quite a ways away. I went to spend time with my boyfriend and it took probably ten minutes at least to get anywhere near where he was from the hotel. Over all, it was a great place to sleep and shower.

We were happy with the location. The staff was nice. The breakfast was sorely lacking and we ended up eating breakfast at IHOP daily, which is right next door.
The room next to ours housed someone who had the TV on all night, high volume. I had a terrible nights sleep. I complained the next morning, being too tired to call the front desk during the night. The next night, the same person had the TV on high volume again and by 11 PM I called the desk and they took care of the problem.

I have read reviews about this hotel that were not to favorable. I have also lived in Tucson and stayed in many of the hotels. First it is one of only a few that have shuttle service the room was very large, heated pool and jacuzzi, internet was fine the staff nice and helpful. Breakfast a bit skimpy and it is out of the way from just about everything. That would be my only complaint. I found nothing to complain about because at the rates and service offered it is the best deal in town.

stayed here for 12 nights. except for some construction workers being really rudely loud at 7:30 AM the first morning i woke up, it was nice, cozy and quiet. if you stay here in january, be prepared to see tents going up all over the property- they are preparing for the gem and mineral show...
it was very clean, and my queen sized bed was absurdly comfy. the heat worked well..the only slightly weird thing about the room i stayed in was that one of the walls was all glass/a sliding door that opened directly onto the courtyard. when people walked by, it was very loud. people did not walk by often, though.
location is great if you have a car- 10 min drive from downtown/4th ave.

The rooms are large and clean. Beds are comfortable. The breakfast buffet was good: scrambled eggs, cheesy eggs, sausage, potato, cereal, waffles, muffins, pastries and begels. Check in and out was quick and hassle free. Highly recommend.

Practical business location

The Hotel Arizona is in downtown Tucson. It has a garage, but I would not want to drive my van through the tight curves to the upper floors. My compact was a tight enough fit.
Check in was brusque and just short of rude--but check out (by the same person) was friendly and helpful.
The room was fine. TV worked, bathroom had a light missing and broken ceiling tile. I wouldn't have noticed, except the ceiling was quite low in the bathroom, maybe 7 feet or less. The room overlooked the roof. The air conditioner worked. This was a business trip for me, so the convenient location and the price deal was more important than anything else.
The room did have a desk, an easy chair and light where you needed it. That's all a plus for me. No fridge, no microwave.

I went to visit family so hotel location was good. AC had a tough time staying current with the outside heat. Better ac would have made all the difference. luis
