What travelers to Scottsdale are saying

I love Scottsdale. Wait - what is it? A suburb? A resort area? Golf course mecca? Since there is no connection from where you stay in Scottsdale to the soul of the area, how do you really know what it is other than your on-line views. Where are your experiences? There is no physical way to get from the resorts to Old Town or other destination and no sense of how to take advantage of offerings. I have a 2nd home in Crested Butte Colorado. There, the businesses all contribute to a fund to subsidize the airlines to make sure they are willing to fly people in - for the purpose of getting more overall business. Maybe there is a way to connect the amenities in Scottsdale in this fashion. The resorts would be a hard sale because they want all your extra dollars, but the other businesses (shopping malls, restaurants, entertainment areas, etc) would do it.

Scottsdale is a lovely place to visit. We explored hiking up Camelback mountain, going Off Roading, zip lining, and visiting Red Rock State Park, The Lost Dutchman State Park and Slide Rock Park, which was the most amazing experience of the entire trip. Sedona has to be absolutely breathtaking. What we loved about Scottsdale was the fact that it did not take you too long to visit the other cities and what they had to offer as well. Scottsdale has lots to do for everyone both day and night. The city is as lovely as the people who are living in it. Everyone is very friendly and fit! I look forward to visiting it in the fall and winter months when the temperatures are more tolerable. I hope to return again soon.

Scottsdale is an upscale community with many enjoyable activities and environments. The Valley Ho is the best place to stay if you want to be centrally located and you place a premium on creativity and design. The one scale Scottsdale as a town scores extremely low on is the DIVERSITY scale. The only minorities I saw were workers. I am a white upper middle class woman. I'm used to it because I travel to Scottsdale frequently, but I stick out like a sore thumb because I am surrounded by Real Housewives and Golf Husbands. I become uncomfortable when there is such pressure for everyone to conform to narrow and artificial standards.
