  • May 14, 2012
The location is ideal since it's right off of all of the main freeways that are merged through the center of town, it is a few minutes from the university, and there is a gas station and grocery store a block away. The free breakfast was very decent they had all the yogurts, cereals, toast, eggs, ham, oatmeal, juices, hot chocolate, and for the waffles they had a guy actually manning the irons taking waffle requests and then he would bring it to your table with the syrup bottle and then went around cleaning up people's trash too. Breakfast was all served in a cafe that's separate from the hotel but right there in the parking lot so there was plenty of space we didn't feel crowded in there. There is also a social hour in the evening where they serve a free drink to all the guests at the same cafe. We stayed on a weekend. We requested a few extra blankets from the front desk because we had little ones with us and they brought them to the room right away. The HVAC worked fine as did all the other facilities in the room. The hotel overall is dated. Of course we wish we could get a little bit cheaper price, but when compared with other hotels in the area this seemed like best option. We booked online so we had no interaction with the staff before hand but the reservation was all squared away upon arrival and there were no issues. Front desk was super friendly. There was a hornet or something that buzzed us a few times in the parking lot, and then another that flew in our room while we were loading bags that scared my 4 year old daughter half to death. The TV worked fine, internet worked fine. We visited to watch the NAU graduation ceremony at the sky dome. There is a train a couple hundred feet from the hotel, but it didn't bother us at all at night while sleeping.

The rooms were comfortable and the kids loved the new flat screen t.v.I prefer hotels that have a door between the bathroom, including the sink area. However, this hotel did not have this feature. Our rooms were on the first floor so the noise of people walking above was heard. The lobby had a fireplace and was cozy. The breakfast had a great selection but food was bland. The staff member working the breakfast was a hard worker and kept busy. The jacuzzi was not working. There was a WalMart across the street and many fast food and restaurants nearby.

the city shut off the gas so there was no hot water in the morning for a shower, but the hotel didn't notify guests, so we found out on our own when we called the desk to report no hot water. The manager never showed up to handle the complaints of not having hot water and the front desk staff just said "it's not our fault it is the city's fault.". Very disappointed in the lack of response to thus situation by the hotel. Customer service shod bs a priority for a hotel!

Clean, Good Location

  • Spotter
  • Apr 26, 2012
The hotel is located near the major highways and is very clean. The front desk was helpful and easy to check in. Breakfast is served hot and fresh and was great. There is no pool, and the business center is a small computer located in the hallway... not the best set up but its acceptable for a one or two night stay. Our window had a hole in it which caused the window to crack, which the hotel replaced by adding another window on top of that one. There were no issues, and the bathroom was VERY VERY clean. Other than the hotel lacking some nicer amenities, this place was a cheap one night and worth the money we paid.

Really, what more could you want?

  • flagstaff traveler
  • Jan 31, 2012
It never ceases to amaze me how many ways people find to complain about temporary living accommodations that provide a higher standard of living than such a large percentage of people in this world have in their daily lives. What more could you want from a $30/night motel? The room was clean, the remodeling was nice...of course its not "high end"...if you are looking for that go stay at an upscale chain and pay those prices. I don't know why people commented on a "cheap" remodel. The counter tops and a complete shower surround were marble (or at least faux marble)! Often in these types of places the carpet is gross, but the carpet was clean and new looking. I have a rather large refrigerator, a microwave, a complimentary coffee pot and coffee, table and chairs, cable TV, and individual heating/cooling unit so I could set my room to a comfortable temp. Seriously, what is there to complain about for the price? Hmmm, the hot water took a bit to turn hot, the room was cold when I first walked in (imagine that...I had to turn on the heat myself...the horror!). Seriously, though, I'm sure as it gets farther away from the remodel date and conditions start to deteriorate, this place might change for the worse...but right now its an outstanding value. Great location, easy check-in and out, quiet room.

Got lucky and arrived shortly after heavy snow. Like staying in a ski lodge. I was impressed with the ambience, design & cleanliness. I was underwhelmed by the breakfast. While quality was OK, there was very little of it. Waffles you make yourself, dry cereal & hard boiled eggs. That's about it.

First time we tried a sleep number bed! It was good but would need time to get used to it. The decor was elegant throughout the hotel with a big fireplace going in the lobby. The surrounding trees added a picturesque ambiance. The hotel restaurant for breakfast was good and the room looked out on the snow and mountains.

Staff was very warm and welcoming, room was great although I could have done without the children running overhead at 2300! Beds are great so I finally fell asleep. Very nice happy hour in their lounge which was very comfortable. The best part...attached to a fantastic sushi place that also provides room service. The orange chicken is OUT OF THIS WORLD--Amazing and I have had alot of Orange chicken in my life! The best I have ever had. Hotel was very close to my work engagement so it was great. I would definitely come back.

Even though smoking is not allowed in the rooms, the room reeked of cigarette smoke, as did the grounds and the office. The people who run the place smoke, and it permeates everything. We used half a bottle of Febreeze with little relief. Two of us are allergic, and we had to buy Benedryl and decongestants just to get through the night. We stayed away from the room except to sleep. The sheets and towels were very old and thin. At least is was close to NAU and didn't break the bank.

Semi-Clean room bed sheets were old and torn, location on main road through town with trains, traffic, and police sirens, room was small and A/C did not work properly. Location was very accessible and convenient to shops and restaurants. Was under new management not familiar with property. Hopefully, they will make some changes.

Would definitely stay here anytime!

We loved this hotel! It was great and made you feel like home. At 5:30 pm they have a kickback time where they had lots of snack items and face you 3 alcohol beverages. They give you sodas, coffee, juices, milk, and more. Some of the snack foods we had were baked potatoes with butter and sour cream, chips and nacho cheese sauce with salsas and jalepenos, Mac n cheese, pretzels, salad, carrots, celery, colored bell pepper strips, hot dogs, chili, and more. It was great! And all included in the price of our room! They also had hot fresh popcorn and sodas all night that was so yummy! They also had a delicious hot breakfast with eggs, salsa, biscuits and gravy, waffles, 4 types of cereals with milk, sausage, doughnuts, coffee and juice. Our room 530 was very clean and comfortable. The only thing that could be better in the bathroom is a locking door. The room was non smoking, with 2 very comfortable double beds, fridge, and microwave. The room was very quiet. The staff was very friendly. The pool was ok. We lived this hotel and would definitely stay here again anytime!

Average cheap 2 Star motel. Front office staff ok but, nothing great. Not to loud in end bottom room. Lucky no smoke smell! Cleanliness was so so but, wife pulled out bed a little to plug in phone and found a bottle of vaseline and other things behind headboard. Could have been worse or much better!

You get what you pay for. It was the cheapest I found online, so I booked it. Nothing to write home about, but it did the job. Best thing: the hot tub was very hot; that's the way I like it. Worst thing: Don't book here unless you like a firm mattress. They don't get any firmer than these.

For the cost ($67) it was about what would be expected. Good location for access to restaurants and the highway for a jumping off point for the Grand Canyon. Rooms were average and clean. Continental breakfast was very limited selection (cereal, muffins, toast, oatmeal). Would have given an additional star if there was a better breakfast spread as this would have elevated the value for your money. Note there is a train track within a few hundred yards or so from the back of the hotel. You could hear it during the night. Wasn't loud enough to be an issue for myself, however very light sleepers should be aware of this.

Like a Step Back in Time

We were in town for an NAU game. The hotel was close to the campus and was very quiet . It seemed that there were not too many guests there when we stayed. The staff was great, the room was immaculately clean and seemed newly decorated. The room decor was really fun. It was retro mid-century but in a brand new, just redecorated way. What a fun surprise and a great change from the usual hotel look. We had a very relaxing stay.

The staff was great, the room nice, and breakfast was tasty. We have three special needs children and I had a leg injury that required special accommodations. These guys went out of their way to help. I would definitely stay there again.

we needed last minute accomodations and ended up staying for two nights. Considering the price, it was not nearly as bad as we had expected. For $40 the room was plenty comfortable.

Overall, you get what you pay for. The furniture and floors were a bit dirty. The train blew it's horn all night long going up / down tracks. Front desk staff were very nice. Ran out of food at continental breakfast.

Key card got reset 2 times on me but it wasn't a major hassle getting it reset. Was a bit annoying not being able to get in right away after coming back for hiking all day and just wanting to crash. No hot water the first morning for some reason. But, it was good enough for my needs and can't complain about the price.

We picked this hotel so we could visit NAU for our son. The staff was great, especially the morning breakfast staff, who were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious - my husband likes a hot breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Great value!
