Really, what more could you want?

  • flagstaff traveler
  • Jan 31, 2012
It never ceases to amaze me how many ways people find to complain about temporary living accommodations that provide a higher standard of living than such a large percentage of people in this world have in their daily lives. What more could you want from a $30/night motel? The room was clean, the remodeling was nice...of course its not "high end"...if you are looking for that go stay at an upscale chain and pay those prices. I don't know why people commented on a "cheap" remodel. The counter tops and a complete shower surround were marble (or at least faux marble)! Often in these types of places the carpet is gross, but the carpet was clean and new looking. I have a rather large refrigerator, a microwave, a complimentary coffee pot and coffee, table and chairs, cable TV, and individual heating/cooling unit so I could set my room to a comfortable temp. Seriously, what is there to complain about for the price? Hmmm, the hot water took a bit to turn hot, the room was cold when I first walked in (imagine that...I had to turn on the heat myself...the horror!). Seriously, though, I'm sure as it gets farther away from the remodel date and conditions start to deteriorate, this place might change for the worse...but right now its an outstanding value. Great location, easy check-in and out, quiet room.

We stayed at the Radisson in flagstaff and then hopped onto the freeway & visited the grand canyon. The hotel was filled with amenities that you'd expect. The lobby had a fireplace, lounge, and a great sushi restaurant. All throughout the hotel we noticed native American & classic Americana iconic decoration. Overall I would give this Radisson a great rating. The staff was very friendly & asked if we needed anything.

Room was decent value for the price. I would have preferred a coffee maker in the room, but decent coffee Was available in the office. The motel was close to good restaurants and downtown attractions.

The price of the room was great. Could not hear the train or traffic outside. The mattress was a little stiff and the pillows a little flat. Other than that if you need a cheap place to stay that is within wallking distance from downtown and right off the main drag, this place is it!

Wasn't bad, the gal that checked us in at night was very nice. Beds were SO COMFY!!! Bathroom was clean but there was a spot on the wall that was questionable (mold?) Had a mini frig and a mirco and a descent tv. Room stayed very warm even though it was 14 out. Breaskfest was just ok. Paid 35 bucks. Would stay there again!

Great Hotel for Grand Canyon Trip

  • Nov 30, 2011
We used this hotel as a base to visit the Grand Canyon on our America road trip! Very impressed with the level of amenities. There was a good complimentary breakfast each day. Also between 5.30pm and 7.00pm there was a 'kick back' which included salads, potatoes, chicken, hot dogs and free beer and wine!! The room was comfortable and clean. We used the indoor pool and jacuzzi which was very nice after a long car journey from LA. Would recommend!

After a days travel to Flagstaff, I was greeted warmly by the manager/desk clerk and he assured me my room was clean and quiet. He was right. My girlfriend and I enjoyed 2 days and nights at this hidden treasure! The price allowed us to spend extra around town and at the Grand Canyon. The ONLY thing I missed, in-room, was a coffee maker, but I usually travel with a press, so it was nearly insignificant. The Galaxy Diner behind the motel offers GREAT deals for breakfast and lunch and their food quality and service beats the pants off of IHOP and Denny's both! There are local eateries all around this motel's locale and many are well worth looking into.

I was in town for business. Super 8 is quiet, clean, and inexpensive. I come to Flagstaff periodically and have stayed in most of the high end hotels near I40 exit 198. The nicer hotels are certainly more luxurious, but also cost about twice as much. Super 8 had a comfortable bed and effeciently designed room for work and comfort. I found it to be quieter than any of the other hotels in the area. Grand Canyon is a short drive (one hour, fifteen min) away.

Staff at Embassy Suites was especially gracious and helpful at all times. They are youthful, but poised and professional. From the front desk to the Manager's Reception to the cooked-to-order breakfast they were unflailing solid. Location is close to downtown without being RIGHT downtown next to the Santa Fe Rwy (now BNSF). The 100 trains a day are too close to almost every other hotel/motel/lodge in Flagstaff save the Embassy Suites. I LOVE trains, but want to be a bit away for sleeping. The EB has updated with flatscreens throughout the hotel, although the image did not appear to be HD quality. Still it was fine. Rooms have refrigerators as well as a wet bar-SOP for most Embassy Suites. One of the nicest touches was the front desk asked for my HiltonHonors information so I could rack up points. [...].Lots of Europeans here and a very cosmopolitan atmosphere for a small town. Easy treks to Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Walnut Canyon, and even Sedona from this location. Very ideal.

Nice room, bad staff

  • sarahnorman
  • Jan 13, 2012
We were on a road trip and came to the hotel very late, around 4 am since we had been driving all night. We were very tired and rang a doorbell and there came a staff member and she looked like she didn´t want to let us in at all (and it was cold outside!) Then she told us that if we had come 5 minutes later we would have missed her since she was going to take a shower (she was wearing her bathrobe). I´m sorry but who takes a shower when you´re working? I don´t care what time it is. Plus she was annoyed that we had bothered her and we did not feel welcomed at all! The room was big and nice, it had a fridge and a microwave, but it was freezing cold the whole night and we could not find a "do not disturb" note to hang on the door, so we were woken up twice when we really needed that sleep (we were driving for 12 hours the following day).

Breakfast was yummy and hot. Beds were comfy but I could still hear the train. Just be aware of that when you're booking. Also, the pool was not as heated as I would have liked.

We were in town for an NAU game. The hotel was close to the campus and was very quiet . It seemed that there were not too many guests there when we stayed. The staff was great, the room was immaculately clean and seemed newly decorated. The room decor was really fun. It was retro mid-century but in a brand new, just redecorated way. What a fun surprise and a great change from the usual hotel look. We had a very relaxing stay.

The staff was great, the room nice, and breakfast was tasty. We have three special needs children and I had a leg injury that required special accommodations. These guys went out of their way to help. I would definitely stay there again.

We booked a queen sized room. The hotel room was very tiny, the bathroom was miniscule. The water did not stay in the stand up shower whenever it was used. There were no full-sized towels in the room and they had to be requested. The air conditioner was missing buttons so it couldn't be adjusted. Not every room comes equipped with a mini fridge. There were no additional pillows available. There was a charge for ice from the machine. There was an additional charge for a smoke-free room even though a smoke-free room had been requested at booking. Entering the hotel parking lot can be difficult, especially from the north. Leaving is almost impossible, even during moderate traffic. We had to exit to the right and go around the block if we wanted to go southbound or eastbound. The staff was helpful. We had a very late check in and they were very accommodating. Staff members were able to give directions to most of the major tourist venues. While the rooms were tiny, they were very clean.
