REally surprised at good quality of this hotel for the price, and wonderful employees. Near the station and on the River Thames to walk.. Area near station is not too hot so don't walk alone at night in the area to towards that direction. Very safe around hotel and car park good. Geoff -Somerset

Clean & Great Location

My husband and I live in the US and went to England for a week and a half to visit his family who live in Reading. We chose this hotel because it's close to the Town Centre (about a ten minute walk if that) and had read many other good reviews. While the room was rather small compared to the places we've stayed in the States, we really don't have any complaints about our stay other than the bed being a little uncomfortable. The staff was polite and the room was clean and in good condition. The room also had a refrigerator so rather than paying the usual high hotel prices for breakfast, we bought cereal and milk at a local shop.

Holiday Inn Reading was easy to find and in a quiet location. The room was comfortable and roomy with a full bathroom. We were able to choose our comfort level of pillows to be brought by the staff. We did not dine here, although the restaurant looked nice. Car parking area was well lit. We used this as a place to stay coming from the Stonehenge/Bath area of England to catch our flight out of Heathrow the next morning. It was probably 30-45 minutes west of Heathrow Airport and a very easy ride.

1st impressions of the hotel were very good, the staff on the desk could have looked a bit happier. the room was of a reasonable standard, the only complaint was that when we returned at night we found that none of the lights worked, wasnt worth calling to the desk as we just wanted to go to sleep. we were at the front of the building and the passing traffic kept my fiance awake all night, i didnt have that trouble! haha

This is a new hotel but it appears to have been built and furnished on a shoestring so I think it'll start to wear very quickly. Example - the shelf in the cupboard which had the tea & coffe stuff on was only perched on 4 screws rather than being secured properly - I found this out when I managed to knock the shelf off and send the kettle and cups etc crashing to the bottom of the cupboard! Shower started well but then reduced to a trickle. Glad I didn't pay any more.....

Good location for Heathrow Airport

Good location for Heathrow Airport (less than 1 hour away) but better quality at a much lower price than most of the airport hotels. As chain hotels go, this was better than most without being exceptional, but was great value for money. Would use again.

I stayed in the Executive Centre

  • Anonymous
  • Mar 23, 2010
I stayed in the Executive Centre which is clearly well geared up for conferences etc. This is a large block where some of the rooms (including mine!) are a considerable distance from reception & facilities. On finding my room found much of the corridor covered in masking tape. They were clearly in the process of decorating. Maybe that explains the good room rate but that was a neither evident at time of booking, nor mentioned on checkin. The first thing I noticed on entering the room was how cold it was - the radiator had been turned off. Apart from that it was fairly ordinary, though mobile reception was poor. Had I been paying full rate I would have been pretty unhappy. I didn't use the restaurant but the bar food was OK. I did find it a rather odd arrangement having access to the Gym/Pool through the bar and was disappointed to find that although there are changing rooms, there are no lockers. A uninspiring stay - not sure I'd bother going back.
