London Hotels

London

Vibrant and truly multicultural, London is a megalopolis of people, ideas and energy. The capital and largest city of both the United Kingdom and of England, it is also the largest city in Western Europe and the European Union. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater London has an official population of nearly 8 million people — although the figure of over 14 million for the city's total metropolitan area more accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is one of the great "world cities," and remains a global capital of culture, fashion, finance, politics and trade.

London hosts an outstanding collection of world-class museums. Even better, it is the only one of the traditional world cities in which the majority of the museums have no entrance charges, allowing visitors to make multiple visits with ease. Many of the best museums and galleries are free including the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the National Portrait Gallery.

Take a walk through London's Royal Parks. A good walk would start at Paddington station, and head through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park (passing Buckingham Palace) and St James Park before crossing Trafalgar Square and the River Thames to the South Bank and Waterloo Station.

Doing It Right

An absolutely first rate stay at a first rate hotel. Perhaps the most outstanding feature is the ability of the staff to make everyone feel completely comfortable. I am unfortunately not in the habit of staying in hotels in this price range on a regular basis but as a special treat it was well worth it. Whether dining in the Savoy Grill, having cocktails in the American Bar or simply being shown to our room, the staff made my wife and I feel completely at home. I may have to wait for the kids to graduate from college before I go again but I know that I will be looking forward to it.

My sister and I stayed one night before flying back to the US after a Eurostar trip to Paris. The service was outstanding, and the hotel is just lovely. I would definitely stay there again. My only criticism is that for the price, I thought the room would be a bit larger.

Everything that you would expect from a 5* hotel. Just one unfortunate aspect, for my wife and me personally: we were looking forward to the re-opening of the (original) building as a hotel after so many years - BUT our accommodation was in a new building adjacent to the original - but as a 5* hotel we found no faults.

Wonderful getaway

  • Happy Virginians
  • Sep 20, 2012
This is a great choice! It was, without a doubt, the best hotel we've ever used. It was close to 2 tube stops that were an easy walk away. The street and surrounding areas were quiet. We felt like we were in our own private apartment and there were no other guests around, although I know that wasn't the case. Do be aware that the standard room will be a basement room. It looks just like the pictures but is a little dark. We upgraded and it was worth the cost. We had a lovely balcony with seating that looked out over the rooftops of South Kensington and the towers of the Science Museum. The staff was friendly, knew the area well, and could make suggestions for things to see and do, where to shop, etc. Since we arrived early in the morning before our room was ready, they willingly stored our luggage for us, so we could get a start on our vacation. We would definitely go back again.

Perfect break in the perfect hotel

  • Anonymous
  • Nov 11, 2012
The Comfort Blu Hotel is situated close to the Hammersmith tube station. The hotel is just newly refurbished, so you can imagine how clean and modern it is. The staff are fantastic and if you do need to contact them you will be guaranteed friendly service. Our room was cleaned daily when we stayed and this was a pleasant surprise. It's ideal for a family break in London with the beautiful WestField shopping centre just a few minutes walk away....too many shops to choose from! Just a couple of doors from the hotel is Cafe Rouge with beautiful food served daily. :) If we do get a chance to go back to London we will definitely be hoping to stay in the Comfort Blu. I would not hesitate to recommend the Comfort Blu to anyone for a stay in London as our stay was perfect. It is by far the nicest hotel we've stayed in in London and the best value. The Chute family.

East End Oasis

  • Fankstress
  • Apr 15, 2012
Upon arrival we were offered an upgrade for a minimal fee and after staying in a tiny, but charming Paris b&b, the roomed seemed like an apartment. Wood floors, giant 4-poster bed, huge bathroom and windows all around. It was a perfect refuge in this fast-paced city. Not to mention there was a Nespresso machine, tea pot and fully stocked complimentary mini bar holding beverages and yummy snacks. The east end is full of great restaurants, nightlife and local flavor, a nice mix of activities away from tourist driven areas. We even found some great spots next to the hotel. Overall the Hotel Indigo was perfect!

SOHO hotel has a ton of style and a great location. Rooms are very large by UK standards, with all the amenities you'd expect from a first rate location. Staff is great and the bar is meeting place for the locals as well. Only suggestion is to ditch the 20 GBP internet fee. Hotel is expensive enough without that ridiculous charge.

Staybridge does it again! Fantastic Hotel!

  • AsCan
  • Jun 5, 2012
Without question the Staybridge Suites is one of the best values in London. It's located just off Westfield Shopping Centre and Olympic Stadium. The neighbourhood is one in rapid transition and offers a host of good restaurants and bars just a stone away. The lobby is bright, cheery and very nicely designed. The check-in staffs were young, professional but friendly and very eager to help. I found the rest of the staff to be very friendly here throughout the whole hotel. My room was outstanding. It was a nice comfortable size with plenty of room with “Apple TV” for the geeks like me this was a great touch, also having free wifi throughout the hotel and in your room was a great bonus. I had a nice view over the Olympic Stadium and Canary Wharf. Best of all it has a working kitchen. This has been super for my stay . On my first night i did go down to the “Pantry” right next to the reception and stock up on drinks and some snacks. If you are staying in midweek…well you are in for a treat, from Tuesday to Thursday they have residents’ drinks after work, where they serve nice snacks, cheese, wine and beer, and it is all for free. For solo travellers like me this was great as I had chance to chat with the team as well as the other residents. The room was great. Colourful and I found everything to be in good working order. I was very impressed to see how the designers had been so thoughtful and careful to design this room in a way of fitting everything in and keeping it feeling open and roomy. I had meetings both in west London and in the City, and the travel time was perfect, as you can just take the central line and go through the heart of London, or take the DLR and go to your office in Canary Wharf within minutes. For the location, room space and service this was a great value. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend and I would gladly stay here again!

We stayed over the weekend two adults and three children. We had an excellent welcome from all the staff, Tim and Teresa who were attentive and genuine. Hotel being very new is Clean and smart. The lounge and balcony area is a perfect retreat from shopping. Car parking is great if you park in car park B and look for signs by lifts for Staybridge. We a have a couple of interconnecting rooms, beds comfy and apple TV in all rooms, and small kitchens. Views great of the Olympic park, and Westfield shopping centre is below for shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend hotel

Altenglisches Hotel mit Charme

  • Jonathan B. Tuttle
  • Oct 15, 2012
