London Hotels
London
Vibrant and truly multicultural, London is a megalopolis of
people, ideas and energy. The capital and largest city of both the United
Kingdom and of England, it is also the largest city in Western Europe and the
European Union. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater
London has an official population of nearly 8 million people — although the
figure of over 14 million for the city's total metropolitan area more
accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is one of the great
"world cities," and remains a global capital of culture, fashion,
finance, politics and trade.
London hosts an outstanding collection of world-class
museums. Even better, it is the only one of the traditional world cities in
which the majority of the museums have no entrance charges, allowing visitors
to make multiple visits with ease. Many of the best museums and galleries are
free including the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the National
Portrait Gallery.
Take a walk through London's Royal Parks. A good walk would
start at Paddington station, and head through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park,
Green Park (passing Buckingham Palace) and St James Park before crossing
Trafalgar Square and the River Thames to the South Bank and Waterloo Station.

We had a great time spending five nights at Convenish. Location is great - it is located at a quiet street within walking distance to most happening places e.g. bond st, oxford, piccadilly, china town etc.....
Hotel staff are generally helpful. Room is clean and comfortable.
Will not hesitate to pick Cavendish for accomodation if we revisit London again in future.

We spent a wonderful three days in London based at the Cavendish hotel. This was a very convinient, well located and impeccable hotel witha a truly helpful and friendly staff. The icing on the cake for us was that the conscierge borrowed us umbrellas when an unexpected shower hit just when we were leaving for the theater. Thank you Cavendish, I will absolutely book again weather on business or leisure.

The Charing Cross is an old railroad hotel that has recently received an extensive and expensive renovation. The rooms are stylishly modern with almost every amenity (heated bathroom floors and towel rack, flat screen tv and free hi power wi-fi. They are cleary going green here. The bathroom even has a night light so you don't need to keep it;s lights on all night. One problem though, the bath room mirrors are insufficiently lighted. a lighted ,magnified shaving/makeup mirror is need. Great Location!

My one complaint is with breakfast. Normal Price is £18.95 , which is expensive unless you are getting something special , and you are not.
They do a special voucher which they give you at check-in for £11.95 . This appears to be somewhat random. I was offered the voucher once and had to ask for the vouchers the other two times.
My complaint about breakfast , sis that for something that they want to charge £18.95 , it just is not that special. They have all the facilities and correct ingredients , but cannot execute.

Awesome location if you're not looking for something fancy
-

- Nov 26, 2012
The rooms aren't huge, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff that I encountered were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs is often overlooked but the food is fantastic and the place apparently has quite a reputation amongst locals due to the previous chef who was somewhat of a celebrity but the new chef does not disappoint. Both my appetizer and main were excellent, and I am quite an experienced diner. The hotel's location is hard to beat, right next to the Marble Arch tube stop (Central Line) and minutes away from the Bond Street stop (Jubilee Line) as well as tons of shopping and Selfridges, the huge British department with beautiful window displays and quality wares. As I said in the title, it's not a fancy, luxe hotel but I'd stay here again for the price and location.

So convenient! All the staff were so competent and polite, it made my 3-day stay a real pleasure. I felt so well looked after at the Park Lane. The concierges gave great advice on restaurants, tours--even church services. When I needed a reading light--someone was there with one within 10 minutes of my phone call. A luxury boutique hotel perfectly placed on Sloane Street, The Cadogan combines English hospitality at its best with home comforts reminiscent of a private address. Located in the heart of Knightsbridge - arguably London's premier location, the hotel was once home to Lillie Langtry consort to King Edward VII and the London address of Oscar Wilde.
Amidst this bustling city street lies a private garden reserved for guests of the hotel and surrounding residents, fully equipped with tennis courts, this secluded area is a serene escape.

Family-owned business; house is old but still beautiful; room was small - hardly any space to put our luggage; has no AC or lifts. The hotel's main advantage is its proximity to the coach and train stations. There are also several restaurants and shops nearby. The neighborhood is quiet and private. Breakfast buffet had good selections, but turned out to be not included in our vacation package so we had to shell out 25GBP for eating breakfast there for 2 mornings. We were told when we checked in that it was included but that was neither here nor there. We only stayed in the hotel for 3 nights; our stay there was just OK.

The Hotel was located only a couple of blocks from Paddington Station. We were able to walk with luggage comfortably back to the station. Hyde park is right down the street and Oxford street is about a 10 minute walk. Lovely neighborhood. The hotel itself was nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette was a nice touch for coffee and tea. We didn't cook with it, but it was clean and had all the tools you would need to make a simple meal. The bed was soft and the bathroom was modern and nice. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Under Renovation
-
eangelson
- Nov 21, 2012
The two reasons I am not giving a five star rating on our second stay at the Chancery Court this year: 1) The hotel is under major renovation, which makes the rooms and restaurant very noisy during the day. That is something that should be made clear at the time of the reservation, rather than a surprise upon arrival; 2) Last time we stayed in a lovely unrenovated room on the 1st Floor. This time, even though the renovation is ongoing, there were no unrenovated rooms available. The design of the renovated rooms is, well, a bit goofy, with wide striped carpeting and pretty bad lighting. For instance, you need a flashlight to see the thermostat at night, since it is not backlit and none of the room lights shine on it's lcd display.
All in all the room and bed were very comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful, late night room service was freshly prepared, delivered hot and was delicious, the staff (other than those in the Pearl Restaurant for breakfast, who were rude and hurrying us along) is very friendly and accommodating. It should be a a lovely place to stay again, as soon as the renovation is complete.

Hotel location is ideal, a two-minute walk from Holborn tube station, which is a direct journey from Heathrow on the Piccadilly line. British Museum is a five-minute walk and many other sights are within a 15-20 minute walk. The Holborn stop makes travel anywhere in central London easy. Hotel is immaculate. We stayed for five nights in two rooms on the club level, with two double beds in each room, and were very pleased with the size of the rooms and amenities. Our rooms faced High Holborn, but we never noticed traffic noise in what is a very busy area. Nice selection of pubs, shops, etc., within a few minutes' walk, as well as many choices for food and convenience items.

If you want to be within walking distance of Kensington Palace/Garden, Hyde Park, the V&A and Natural History Museums, and the Royal Albert Hall, this is as good a location as it gets. The Gloucester Road tube station is right around the corner from the hotel on the Piccadilly, Circle, and District Lines so you can get anywhere very easily, including the cheapest way to and from Heathrow (taxi = 60 GBP vs. 7 GBP tube fare). There are numerous restaurants, pubs, bakeries, grocery stores, and shops in the neighborhood. Also, Kensington High Street shopping (e.g., Harrods) just a tube stop away (or a bit further walk). Hotel internet access is not included and is expensive. Also, no breakfast included and no frig in the room.

This was such a lucky find. I had selected it because of the close proximity to business I was doing. The music when I walked in was what first got me. The staff and management were friendly and efficient down to knowing bus routes, printing out maps and knowledge of shop hours. The room was lovely and I dug the offer of strawberries and champagne with my bath. This hotel is just what the hotel group promises - Unique.Chic.Boutique. I highly recommend it and will be back!!!

The hotel staff greeted us weary travelers with smiles and helped us out in every way... The room was even better than expected... service and staff took care of every request... From beginning to end... From greeting, to wake up call, to bringing us to the room, to handling the luggage, to lovely bath items, to turn-down service with fresh water, to excellent cleaning, to heated towels, to electrical converter, to EVERY DETAIL, ETC., this hotel exceeded our expectations and provided us a very nice stay. It was walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Piicadilly, museums, shopping, good food, and much more. We would happily stay there again.... Thank you!!
The building was older but well appointed, staff helpful and pleasant,....
