London
Vibrant and truly multicultural, London is a megalopolis of
people, ideas and energy. The capital and largest city of both the United
Kingdom and of England, it is also the largest city in Western Europe and the
European Union. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater
London has an official population of nearly 8 million people — although the
figure of over 14 million for the city's total metropolitan area more
accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is one of the great
"world cities," and remains a global capital of culture, fashion,
finance, politics and trade.
London hosts an outstanding collection of world-class
museums. Even better, it is the only one of the traditional world cities in
which the majority of the museums have no entrance charges, allowing visitors
to make multiple visits with ease. Many of the best museums and galleries are
free including the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the National
Portrait Gallery.
Take a walk through London's Royal Parks. A good walk would
start at Paddington station, and head through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park,
Green Park (passing Buckingham Palace) and St James Park before crossing
Trafalgar Square and the River Thames to the South Bank and Waterloo Station.

Lovely and convenient place - only one problem

- Dec 11, 2011
Our double room wasn't available upon our midnight arrival, so we had two single rooms the first night. In a generous gesture on the hotel's part, we received a (hearty) complimentary breakfast every morning. The location is fantastic, the rooms clean, the beds firm, and the building gorgeously refurbished on the ground floor. The only negative is that the rooms are so small that it's difficult for two people to move around at once in a double room. I know that's typical for London hotels, but I was a little surprised this qualifies as a "four-star" hotel.

The room was a little small and didn't have the greatest amenities, but who's in a room when you're visiting London?
Great location, very close to public transport.

Not particularly welcoming reception staff, but able to check-in early without difficulty. Tiny rooms (my colleague could touch opposite walls simultanously) but well-appointed: comfortable bed, good linen, toiletries and Fairtrade tea & (filter) coffee. Short hairdryer cord didn't allow me to look in the mirror whilst drying my hair & no light over the desk. Very courteous & pleasant breakfast staff. Excellent breakfast.

You couldn't ask for a better location. Very easy to get to on the tube from Heathrow. Just about a 2 minute walk from Victoria Station to the hotel. We could see Buckingham Palace from our window! Locatd in the heart of the theater district. The room was a very good size by European standards. the only complaint was that the front desk staff spoke poor english and spoke very softly. It got embarassing to keep asking them to repeat what they were saying. The restaruant in the hotel had some of the best food we ate in London! Nice bar as well.

Not quite as impressive as the web site phot's depict but clean and presentable with an excellent view of Hyde Park. Staff helpful and provided free upgrade. The hotel is well placed for two tube stations so access to the city is very straight forward and a range of shops pubs etc within walking distance. There is some road noise but this is normal for the area. Only downside is the cost of breakfast, £15pp is about on par for other hotels but there are many alternatives within walking distance. Car parking is secure and cheaper than most at £25 per 24 hours.

The Mandeville is a boutique hotel located close to the Bond Street underground on Oxford Street. However, if you like to walk, as I do, you can make the trip in 20-30 minutes to Buckingham Palace (that is, without any stops along the way.) Also, don't miss Regent's Park, a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It's beautiful, and my favorite park in London. Overall, the Mandeville is a great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Great Stay, Incredible Location
-
GRKGRL
- Sep 12, 2011
We had a good stay at the Trafalgar Grand. The lobby was really pretty and the staff was lovely. I loved the fact that they would deliver exercise equipment to your room upon request (I didn't do it because we walked soo much there wasn't a need to workout).
We did tea at the brand new restaurant which opened while we were there...delish!
They had little guest request closets on each floor which had all the little amenities guests typically ask for...pillows, iron boards, mouth wash, coffee, etc. It was great because you can just go in there and take whatever you need without making a call the the concierge and waiting forever. Big plus.
Now the best thing about this hotel was the location! You are right near two underground stations, two great pubs across the street, Trafalgar Square right down the block (like a min walk to the corner and you're there). A few minute walk and your at Soho, Covent Gardens, Picadilly Circus or the Palace, Parliment and Westminster Abby. You can see the London Eye from the hotel and its a short walk over the Bridge across the river to get there.
All in all I highly recommend the hotel and would stay there again. (it was a little pricey, however, i would guess thats due to the location)

Pretty good hotel for London. A few minuses
-
Vacationer467
- May 19, 2012
My husband and I got a club room which included wifi and complimentary continental breakfast. Hotel is clean and security is good. Staff is attentive. Other big plus is the size and variety of the breakfast, which is the best complimentary b-fast I've experienced in London: pastry, cheese, cold ham, yoghurt, many fresh fruits, cereals, espresso, coffee, tea, and congee (rice porridge) with Asian additions. Easy to eat hearty at b-fast and be good till dinner. Big minuses: while room was nice (mini fridge main plus), the room did have a slight odor upon entering, rather mildewy, which we got used to after a few minutes. But the worst was the mattress--horrible. Soft and lumpy. Sleep was difficult and we woke up achy. Maybe if we were in our 20s we wouldn't have felt it as much. Given the hotel's rather nice level, the bed should have been better. Hotel is on the District and Circle tube lines, but not in the thick of the transport's main hubs. Area pretty good: just off High St Kensington. Nice tea shop-The Muffin Man--near the hotel. Lots of shopping in the area. Hyde Park is wonderful and very close.

The hotel was very nice. The location was superb. Kensington is a lovely place. everything was in easy walking distance. The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. The internet access was not complimentary and quite expensive. Also, room service was a bit expensive as well. They also advertised that they had herbal teas, but when I asked housekeeping to provide packets, they didn't have any.
Overall, I thought it was a great hotel and I would definitely go back.

Fantastic albeit pricey hotel

The hotel is a large palatial building that extends across a city block. The hotel is linked by a covered crosswalk to Marylebone Station. You can see the hotel from the train platforms..
Marylebone is also an Underground stop, and the location is ideal. It is two stops from Paddington and the express train to Heathrow. Marylebone is on the Bakerloo Line,
The lobby is large, and there is an atrium restaurant. The rooms are huge by european standards and beautifully appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable, with good quality sheets. The TV was a pretty big flat screen. The bathroom was huge, and there was a big tub and a really good shower, not like those dribbling detachable ones that you get in some euro hotels. Staff are extremely polite, helpful, and also leave you alone. Basically, a perfect London hotel.
The usual posh hotel issues appy tho - wifi is available but exhorbitant. However, there is a free computer room where you can get on line. There is a very pleasant cosy lounge bar called Mirror Bar in the hotel that is pretty spiffy, but drinks will give you definite sticker shock!
The neighborhood is basically Baker Street/ Regent Park. Busy streets, but there are some nice restaurants nearby on Marylebone Road (which is different from Marylebone Street). I didnt see alot of night life, but it wasnt dead either, and London is kind of weird that way - The pubs all close at 11.
So, high in price but very nice. Good for a short stop, or to recover from a long low budget trip!

Gerne wieder!

The Flemings Mayfair is in a great location near the Green Park Tube stop. You can get anywhere in town very easily at that stop. The staff were VERY friendly and helpful. They always greeted you coming AND going. Our room and bathroom were very small, as are most hotel rooms in Europe. There was street noise all night long, but we were so tired from all the activity in London that it wasn't a huge problem; just annoying. We ate breakfast every day in the Sheperd Market area around the corner from the hotel. That is a nice area with a bunch of restaurants & a few pubs. Overall, the hotel is very nice, and a great place to stsy.

Good location, tiny room.
-
KellyMN
- May 21, 2012
The location of the hotel is awesome. It is less than half a block north and a block west of the tube station. There are plenty of places nearby to eat, and to run out to grab necessities - grocery store across the street - convenience store a block away; half a dozen cafes, and plenty of upscale restaurants. The Queens gate to Kensington Palace is a 10-15 minute walk up the road. Surrounded by other hotels and embassies.
The room itself was tiny, tiny, tiny. From the pictures on the site, the view with the bed is actually the entire room. There's perhaps 2.5 feet of space around the bed on three sides, total. That's it. The bed was firmer than I care for. The pillows were either lumpy or too firm. The bathroom was kept immaculate by housekeeping. The pressure of the shower was excellent. The towels and linens smelled of strong chemical solvents.
Staff was quite friendly. They didn't know the area as well as I would have liked when asking for directions. Provided me a bucket of ice every day.
Overall, there's a ton of hotels in this area. The price per value isn't bad. The rooms are miniscule but clean. You'll be staying here for the location, though.

overall the experience was a good one, great location for seeing all the major london sites, easy to find, staff was friendly. Cleaning staff could have been better, went out one day and came back to a sticky floor which was'nt sticky when we left in the morning. Kleenex box was not refilled when it was empty after the first day and stayed empty the whole four days. Minor things, nothing serious it was a good stay and would recommed the hotel to friends and family

A Listed building, it retains its distinctive Victorian architecture and character, yet offers guests all the comforts of a 21st Century luxury hotel.
Our fully refurbished bedrooms offer a quiet, spacious and comfortable retreat from the bustle of London and the adjoining Victoria mainline station. All bedrooms feature rainfall showers and air conditioning. A large plasma-screen TV, Bose IPod docking stations with surround sound and WIFI access is available in all rooms for guest entertainment. Reunion, our latest addition, is a chic Champagne and Cocktail bar favored by many in the area. For a genuine Cantonese experience, try a meal in the Grand Imperial London.
Its superb location is within walking distance of many of London's landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. Getting around is easy too; Victoria mainline, Underground and bus stations are close by.

I hadn't been to London for many years and recall the last hotel to be uncomfortable, dirty and unpleasant. this time was altogether different.
We were a party of four (two couples) and were each delighted by the staff and service of the hotel, it's proximity to central London AND the double glazed windows to ensure quietness amidst London's 24 hour throng! It is part of Victoria station's building so just 30 mins to gatwick airport by train, which suited us perfectly.
The rooms were spotless, comfortable and really well appointed for our needs although one bathroom was a tad pokey. The hotel is a gracious, generously proportioned old building that's been beautifully restored, so it's just a pleasure to be in.
Unfortunately, there was no breakfast included in the price which we only found out about upon arrival. It seemed a strange thing and left a bit of a sour taste with the welcome. But there are lots of places nearby that do breakfasts quite well.
We didn't dine in the hotel restaurant but we did pay £10 each for a voucher to have a Sunday buffet breakfast in the brasserie (People were queuing up for it and consequently the floor staff were struggling to keep up) and here's the thing - no real tea or coffee! In fact, the watery excuses from the thermos flasks were pretty awful.
Actually, in five days we dined or coffeed in around twenty different places (from posh to ordinary establishments) and not ONE of them offered real tea in a pot. isn't that remarkable for England! So.... If you love your tea, i recommend you take your own as you can boil up the kettle in your hotel room and sip tea from your bed.
All in all, i would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

Fine for a stopover

Location is ideal, being close to London's attractions, tube station and Paddington.
There are plenty of shops/restaurants nearby too.
On the downside, the room had no towels, which I didn't notice until I needed one. Also the bathroom had a small trail of ants marching through it.
Room is small but otherwise fine.

Deshalb insgesamt empfehlenswert!
