London
Vibrant and truly multicultural, London is a megalopolis of
people, ideas and energy. The capital and largest city of both the United
Kingdom and of England, it is also the largest city in Western Europe and the
European Union. Situated on the River Thames in South-East England, Greater
London has an official population of nearly 8 million people — although the
figure of over 14 million for the city's total metropolitan area more
accurately reflects London's size and importance. London is one of the great
"world cities," and remains a global capital of culture, fashion,
finance, politics and trade.
London hosts an outstanding collection of world-class
museums. Even better, it is the only one of the traditional world cities in
which the majority of the museums have no entrance charges, allowing visitors
to make multiple visits with ease. Many of the best museums and galleries are
free including the British Museum, the National Gallery, and the National
Portrait Gallery.
Take a walk through London's Royal Parks. A good walk would
start at Paddington station, and head through Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park,
Green Park (passing Buckingham Palace) and St James Park before crossing
Trafalgar Square and the River Thames to the South Bank and Waterloo Station.

We stayed three nights at this hotel when we visited London. The hotel room is small for me and my wife together with our daughter. Although we were promised, when we checked-in, that an extra bed would be prepared for our daughter, it was however not done when we came back after a walk. We felt too that the hotel conciere was not very willing to answer to our questions. A feeling that they are tired of the samt questions or that they are tired of their jobs! The positive part of this hotel is the location. It is very near Westfield (the new shopping mall) with lots to eat and shop and just 5 minutes to the underground. We are members of HHonour and we have stayed in better Hiltons before.

Superb location in the heart of Knightsbridge, and an easy Tube ride to many major attractions. The room was "English small" but good value for the price and location, and very clean. The buffet breakfast was convenient and perfectly adequate. The staff were always polite and helpful. The Pds 5/hour internet access charge was probably not expensive by London standards, but still a little annoying. I left my cell phone and sports watch behind in a bedside table when I checked out, but was told by reception staff after calling back later they had not been found, despite the room having remained unoccupied since I had left. I have written to the Hotel Manager about this. Someone must have removed the items.

Ideal Location to Everything

I just returned home from my first trip to London and I couldn't be more happy with my flight and hotel choices. The Millennium Mayfair is a great hotel for those that love to explore by foot or by the Tube. Perfectly located near Marble Arch, Oxford Street, Regent Street and beyond. The Bond Street Tube station is a short and easy 5 minute walk from the hotel. From the Jubilee Line, you can access Westminster and be at Big Ben, Parliament, and Westminster Abbey in minutes.
I would highly recommend buying a Heathrow Express Return ticket online (I used a discount promotion code) to anywhere in London from LHR. The train was a smooth and convenient 15 minute ride to Paddington. From Paddington you can cab it, or take the Tube like I did to the hotel. (Bakerloo Line from Paddington to Baker, then get on the Jubilee southbound from Baker to Bond Street). I also recommend buying an Oyster Card at the Tube station for convenience and value during your stay in London.
The hotel overlooks Grosvenor Square and is sandwiched between the U.S. Embassy and the Canadian Consulate. A picturesque setting indeed. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs, and a Starbucks north a block or so on Oxford Street.
My 2 single bed room was larger compared to a work colleagues room at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square just seconds away from the Millennium Mayfair.
I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was perfectly situated for what we wanted to do in London. The room was comfortable and well appointed however the decor needs updating. The buffet breakfast was good quality although choice was limited and we had to pay extra for a small tomato omelette!
Overall we would recommend this hotel and would stay again mainly because of the location.

Hilton Hotel Green Park was at a perfect location:
1) walking distance to the tube (about one block), which gave us direct access from LCY (Jubilee line) and to LHR (piccadilly Line), and was walking distance to most major sites, such as the Bukingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, Theatre district and Piccadilly Station. We walked all over the city and was easy to get back to the hotel. The room was nice and spacious (we had an unit), but had no view. Staff were extremely helpful. Highly recommend this location!

The Landmark is a nice hotel. The hotel's back entrance is directly across from the Marylebone tube/rail station, very convenient. There is a doorman at both the front and back entrances. It's very easy to get around London riding the tube/rail. Taxi will cost about 65 GBP each way getting from and to the Heathrow airport (around $200 USD round trip).

We really enjoyed the hotel, but were blown over by the extra costs involved in staying at this hotel. A continental breakfast was equal to $40.00 US - seems a bit much for coffee, fruit, and breads. There was an hourly usage charge for the gym equal to @ $18.00US, and a daily wireless charge of @ $30.00 US for each 24hr period, even if you only went on line for 10 min.
However is was wonderful having the Tube at your backdoor, good restaurants in the area, lovely rooms, and very helpful staff.

Early check-in was available after a transatlantic flight - so this was much appreciated. Rooms are modern and quiet and housekeeping polite and helpful (as indeed were all the hotel staff).
The location is difficult to beat! No hesitation in recommending this hotel and we will be staying there again next time we visit London.

Luxury in a Superb Location
-
null
- Oct 5, 2011
This was our second stay in this small, luxury hotel. We received quite a discount with the air/hotel package. This hotel is in Mayfair, about a ten minute walk to Buckingham Palace and the same, or less, to the Green Park tube station, which is on the Picadilly line. This makes for an inexpensive ride from Heathrow, with no train changes. The room was small but elegantly furnished with a comfortable bed, desk and armchair. The armoire held an electric tea kettle and a lovely china tea set. The staff is amazingly attentive and friendly. On our first stay, we had a package that included the buffet breakfast in their gorgeous restaurant. It is the best buffet breakfast I've ever had in a hotel, with sliced meats, croissants, fruit salad, yogurt, big loaves of fresh bread, several pitchers of various juices, etc. Our second visit did not include the buffet and we had one lovely breakfast at Sofra, in Shepard's Market, just around the corner and simpler fare at the Crush juice bar and Pret-a-Manger nearby.Twice we bought a take-away breakfast and ate it sitting on a bench in Green Park, just half a block from the hotel. The only negative I can come up with is that the mini fridge was only cool, not cold, and had no temperature control that I could find. There are certainly less expensive options in London, but the Flemings Mayfair is a lovely hotel with a great location.

I've stayed at this hotel many times and each time feel glad I did.
Its location is exceptional. Rates and service on a relative basis are very good.
Its just around the corner from Shepard's market for a quick meal and a short walk to the Greenpark subway.
In my view, its perfect both for a business stay or if you are a tourist.

Everything was as w would wish. The Millennium club was a bit of too much, except that the breakfast without it was outrageously priced at over £15 per person for a very nice buffet. The concierge was a wonderful source of information and assistance. Problems were taken care of almost immediately.
All in ll if I were to go back to London I would go back to the same hotel.

Great hotel, decent price
-
Chrisandzoila
- Jan 3, 2012
all in all the hotel was very good. The reason we didn't give it a 5 star rating is the price was higher then some comparables (sold out because we booked late), didn't have a hair dryer - for $200 a night we expected a hair dryer - and the pillows were feathered and I got a couple uncomfortable pokes.
On the positive side the location is great, right off the Holbrorn Underground station just north of the city. Internet access costs 16 pounds a day with decent speed. Staff was great and met every need. Hope this helps.

We enjoyed a relatively roomy room and a nice bathroom. The staff was friendly, but unfortunately we were woken during the first night by a housekeeper who apologized : he had mistaken the room number …
The restaurant was all right but there wasn't a big choice for lunch or dinner in the area of the hotel. We had breakfast in Island Grill. The standard continental breakfast was really cheap.

Great Hotel away from the hustle and bustle
-

- Jan 2, 2012
We just returned from our trip to London and the Lancaster London did not disappoint.
LOCATION:
While it is away from many of the sights in the center of London, the Lancaster Gate tube stop below the hotel made getting to any part of London easily accessible. The hotel sits across the street from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens which was definitely worth a stroll.
ROOM:
We had a room on a lower floor which we were told was not part of their recent refurbishment. That being said, the room was updated, clean, and very comfortable. Very nice size by London standards.
MISCELLANEOUS:
-15 minutes of free internet at the Business Center was a nice amenity to stay connected.
- the elevators took FOREVER to stop at our floor (3rd) in the morning. Had no problem taking the stairs but they were difficult to navigate.

I've stayed at other hotels in Kensington, but I think Baileys is the best yet for me at my price point. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room and amenities were great, and the bar & restaurant were good - not too busy, but not too quiet either. The location is great, just beside Gloucester Rd tube station, with easy walk to museums, cafes, restaurants etc. It'll be my first choice when I go back.

Fine, With A Few Notes...
-

My wife and I have stayed at the Millennium Bailey for three years in a row now. It is a well-run establishment, the staff is well-trained and very courteous, friendly and helpful.
Judy and I got spoiled last year, somehow getting a corner room which afforded a nice view of a very pleasant intersection. We liked that better than this year's accommodations for sure.
We were offered an upgrade for 60 pounds more per night, but we thought that price was a bit excessive and declined it. Perhaps we should have accepted it.
No complaints from this source! The food was fine, the bar area was clean and well-staffed and the counter staff was professional at all times. The MB has one HUGE advantage over other venues: right across the street is the Gloucester Road tube station, which makes it almost perfectly accessible from all parts of London.

A good place to stay and within easy underground link to most mainline rail stations. The food was good though we did have a few issues with the heating of some items of the buffet breakfast. Staff were attentive and courteous and happy to help.

Great little hotel for decent London prices
-

For walkers and museum buffs, this place is ideally located and pretty good for the price. There are a few places to eat nearby that don't cost an arm an a leg (but most of them do...).
Some rooms are completely renovated and some are only mostly renovated (i.e. no A/C) -- so 5 stars for room comfort for a room with A/C, 3 otherwise. Carpeted rooms and hallways mask ambient noise so you can get a good night's sleep.
Hotel breakfast is also quite decent.
* Prices reflect the lowest "base rate" found over the next 30 days. Rates are subject to change and may not include taxes and fees, hotel service charges, extra person charges, or incidentals, such as room service. All rates are displayed in USD unless otherwise noted. Converted rates are provided for your convenience. They are based on today's exchange rate, but the hotel will charge you in the local currency.
