London is Great! Wish I'd seen more.

The Mandeville is a boutique hotel located close to the Bond Street underground on Oxford Street. However, if you like to walk, as I do, you can make the trip in 20-30 minutes to Buckingham Palace (that is, without any stops along the way.) Also, don't miss Regent's Park, a 15-minute walk from the hotel. It's beautiful, and my favorite park in London. Overall, the Mandeville is a great place to stay. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Fantastic albeit pricey hotel

  • Drew in NYC
  • May 2, 2012
The hotel is a large palatial building that extends across a city block. The hotel is linked by a covered crosswalk to Marylebone Station. You can see the hotel from the train platforms.. Marylebone is also an Underground stop, and the location is ideal. It is two stops from Paddington and the express train to Heathrow. Marylebone is on the Bakerloo Line, The lobby is large, and there is an atrium restaurant. The rooms are huge by european standards and beautifully appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable, with good quality sheets. The TV was a pretty big flat screen. The bathroom was huge, and there was a big tub and a really good shower, not like those dribbling detachable ones that you get in some euro hotels. Staff are extremely polite, helpful, and also leave you alone. Basically, a perfect London hotel. The usual posh hotel issues appy tho - wifi is available but exhorbitant. However, there is a free computer room where you can get on line. There is a very pleasant cosy lounge bar called Mirror Bar in the hotel that is pretty spiffy, but drinks will give you definite sticker shock! The neighborhood is basically Baker Street/ Regent Park. Busy streets, but there are some nice restaurants nearby on Marylebone Road (which is different from Marylebone Street). I didnt see alot of night life, but it wasnt dead either, and London is kind of weird that way - The pubs all close at 11. So, high in price but very nice. Good for a short stop, or to recover from a long low budget trip!

Deshalb insgesamt empfehlenswert!

Solid option in London

  • Steve
  • Aug 14, 2010
When I went the internet was down and had been down for a reported five days before I got there. It was not fixed for the four I stayed there and so one of their selling points was removed (the internet when working is of the pay as you go variety and you were required to plug your computer into a router via cable - I don't believe they had WiFi). That said the location was decent (right next to a tube stop on the circle line - the line that also had stops at the Tower of London and Paddington Station). There were plenty of pubs and restaurants in the general area, as it is more of a middle class residential area than a touristy one.

Not very impressed. Double room was very small. Shower was very very small. Shower didn't drain so had to keep shower very short or risk flooding! Am still waiting for my receipt 3 days later which I was told would be emailed to me in 10 mins because they had trouble printing it. Not at all what I would call a 'boutique' hotel as described.

Location was perfect for our needs

  • Allan
  • Jul 15, 2010
Location was perfect for our needs and plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel looks very shabby from the outside and the window frames are rotting. The room we had was so small as to make it an unpleasant stay especially as it was so hot at the beginning of July. There was no air conditioning. Certainly not value for money, overpriced and I would not consider it a 4 star hotel. Would not stay there again under any circumstances. Charging this sort of price for a central London hotel does not give the visitor value for money. Continental breakfast was £17.62 a rip-off so went out for breakfast. We did not eat at the hotel becuase of our overall impression. Our visit was for two nights, had it been for any longer we would have moved elsewhere. Very disappointing

Great hotel/great location

Within walking distance, there were a number of good restaurants for dinner and breakfast in all price ranges, as well as stores from department stores to pharmacies. The tube is only four short blocks away but if 4 or 5 are traveling together, taxis are more convenient and cheaper. I would definitely stay at the Churchill again.

I think I stayed in a closet

  • Pammers L.
  • May 12, 2009
I arrived and I stood outside the door for 20 minutes ringing a bell that I finally figured out was disconnected. I found another bell rung it and was buzzed in by someone into a vacant lobby. I found the lone proprietor downstairs munching on his dinner. He handed me the key and gave me directions of what not to do and sent me on my way dragging my suitcases into an elevator that would give anyone claustrophobia. I found my room, well, I think it was a room, or a closet I'm not sure. I had a 12 inch screen T.V. with three fuzzy channels and a single dreary light bulb hanging from the ceiling. The shower was from another century and had mold throughout. I was on my way out to go to dinner one night and saw a family standing at the front door looking as perplexed as I had been earlier, I let them in. I paid too much for the two nights and will never do it again. I know it's in an historic building but they seriously need to upgrade everything and add a little customer service.

Great Location, in the heart of the shopping center of london and within walking distance from marble arch station. very clean and new rooms, comfortable beds too. on the downside, the rooms are a bit tight, but honestly unless you are willing to pay big bucks, this is the case of the majority of hotels in London.

"London Getaway"

  • HonZ
  • Oct 9, 2010
The hotel and location were wonderful for the price. Unfortunately, the wetaher did not cooperate. Aside from a few minor items that just need some extra attention, this botique hotel met our expectations and needs. The free Wi-Fi is a grat touch, since most other hotels charge extra. Unfortunately, we did not dine in-house at the hotel; therefore unable to comment on their dining experience. The surrounding area offers a vast assortment of shops and dining experiences to enjoy and to cater to almost anyones needs. A friendly neighborhood atmosphere, you do not feel like you are caught up in a tourist trap. Transportation is easily accessible and convenient to use. Be cautious of a 3% charge for gratuities, that will/can be added to your bill at checkout if you are not aware or did not use any of their services. I would and will definetly recommend and return to TEN Manchester Street Hotel. Keep up the good work and stay alert and keep your attention to the small details - and more positive impression at the fron desk. Overall it was an enjoyable stay - looking forward to a repeat stay.

Nice, clean, quiet hotel in Marylebone area of London. Near Baker Street tube stop and very close ot Regents Park. Easy walk to Oxford Street shopping. This is a lovely place. Any of the reviews that complained about this hotel are highly suspect. I'm as tough as they come and this place exceeded expectations. Only one issue - bathroom doors are frosted glass. A little freaky for some. Hot water in the shower sometimes absent.

Cute little gem

I was concerned about a recent bout with bedbugs. However, I was pleased with the steps the hotel took to eradicate the monsters along with their openess and honesty. My daughter and I stayed there and the room was great with a dryer, plenty of towels, helpful desk staff and shower gel, shampoo and sink gel soap. It was clean and close to tube stations.

Small but solid

  • American in London
  • Jun 27, 2010
I stayed a week in June 2010. I reserved a room with two twins, but all the twin rooms face busy Gloucester St, so I asked for a change to a double room in the back part of the hotel. They changed me with no difficulty and I was happy with the quiet room. Strangely it had no clock (or alarm) so I went and bought one, and the TV was pretty small, but in a small room it was certainly adequate. Maid service was efficient. They provide a very solid breakfast bar every day including OJ, various types of coffee, two kinds of cereal, cheese, cold cuts, croissants and/ or bread rolls, fruit, and yogurt. People were helpful. Overall I would recommend it unless you are a large person. Sitting on the toilet the sink is in your lap, and I could barely turn around in the shower stall. It was clean and quiet (off the street!) and the price was right.

The best thing in this hotel is

  • Inga
  • Jan 14, 2010
The best thing in this hotel is its location. It is situated one block from Oxford street, in 3 minutes walk from Marble Arch and Selfridges, 5 min walk from Davies str., St. Molton Lane and further to New/Old Bond str., about 30 min walk from Soho and Trafalgar Square. Hotel itself is pretty old. We were upset with the room - we had a standart one (which is quite small in size) and it faced the inner yard with some ladders and debris, and bilders walking up and down. Also there was permanent loud sound of leaking water somewhere in the area of ceiling, which was very annoying especially at nights. But the staff was friendly, everything was clean, pre-paid english breakfast was not bad, in the lobby they had free wi-fi. Not a bad choice if you want to leave in center of the city, but I don't think I'll choose this hotel next time.
