Great hotel for business traveler

Had to be in London for a fair. Chose for this hotel as being very good reviewed and i have to say no disappointment of booking. Very friendly staff, great luxurious rooms in Lounge style, tasteful and cosy. Can absolutely recommend this hotel for a business stay in London.

Let op: de foto op deze website klopt niet, het Aloft is veel groter, mooier en moderner. Google het maar! Ik ben er met mijn vriend een weekend geweest maar had veel langer willen blijven. Het gebouw is nieuw en heel modern. Gratis WiFi die redelijk werkt, wat me meeviel met zo'n groot hotel. Daarnaast is er ook nog een ruimte beschikbaar met computers die je kunt gebruiken. De bar oogt op de foto's als een disco/dancing, maar het is gewoon een lounge met zachte muziek. Wel mooi en gezellig ingericht, met pooltafel. Er is een 24-uurs snack winkeltje waar je kleine hapjes en koffie en frisdranken enz. kunt kopen tegen niet al te gekke prijzen, erg fijn! Wij hadden een 2-persoons Aloft kamer met Kingsize bed. De kamer was meer dan ruim genoeg en had alles dat we nodig hadden en meer; enorme flatscreen, aansluitingen voor al je apparaten (oa USB en zelfs Europese stopcontacten!), een fƶhn, spullen om koffie en thee te maken en een strijkplank + strijkijzer. Het bed was ontzettend comfortabel en de badkamer is prachtig, met een ruime inloopdouche. Al met al een sterke aanrader, hou de aanbiedingen in de gaten want de prijzen per dag kunnen nogal verschillen. Ik kom hier zeker terug, sterker nog, ik ben nu al aan het boeken!

the hotel was lovely, very clean etc etc the staff were very helpfull , the door staff overly , in that you felt obliged to go through the door they opened , rather than the revolving one. The use of the hotels internet was expensive the location suprisingly near tower bridge.one of the days we cycled way past the tower within the half hour allowed on the free rental period.will stay there again.

In London for vacation. Hotel is clean and quiet. A bit removed from Central London, but right next to DLR and Canary Wharf Tube stop--so easy to get about. A pleasant surprise was "Curve" their restaurant. Very good food and service. The only down side was a handicapped room (we are not physically challenged) with absolutely NO view-- a roof top--was it. So, the Hotel room do not have the views one sees on the website. Be aware that the Jubilee line serevs Canary Wharf and weekend construction make it a bit dicey.

Docklands central

This hotel can be had as a real bargain (for London...) and don't be fooled about it being out of the city - it's 3 stops on the Jubilee line to Borough Market and just a few more over to the north bank. To get here from Canary Wharf tube station, go up the never-ending escalators, turn left, head for the shortest glass building in front of you. Go right through this and you'll see a bridge on the other side, cross this (you can see the hotel on your right from the bridge) then turn right along the edge of the wharf. You'll soon see an alley on your left, go down this then bear right under the DLR tracks and you'll come to Marsh Wall, the hotel is 2 minutes further on - the whole walk is 5 minutes or less. It's a bit of a "mutton dressed as lamb" place in that the rooms try and appear posher than they are, but (in my room) everything worked OK, the view was pretty good and bed comfy.

Stayed 4 nights at the Brittania ,last minute booking for a show at Excel.Location and setting are great. Convenience store across the street to the left,great Pub to the right,3 Brilliant Indian Restaurants on Westferry Road, Cliftons was my fav,great Chicken Dansak for 6 pounds!,5 mins walk,3 mins walk to South Quay DLR stn,more shops,Subway,Tesco etc,10 mins drive to Excel,all good stuff.The hotel has some good points but some annoying issues which could easily be resolved. The entrance looks grand but reminds me of a hotel I once stayed in Bangkok.Lots of brass and wood,fake crown moldings and chintz galore. I am not really sure what theme/look the hotel was going for so it just decided to go with a bit of everything,Edwardian,Victorian mixed with some Asian inspired art and cheap reproduction furniture.The is carried through to the room.Nice size,clean with newer TV,but cheap furnishings and decor,Its all a bit tired but acceptable for the price.My 4 night stay was 30% less than at most other area hotels so acceptable. Negatives are shower has a tendency to go from warm,to hot to luke warm although the water pressure was good.Food was reasonably priced but there are good restaurants within walking distance.Parking was 21 pounds/$36 a day/night which even by London Prices is high.However from 5.30 on Friday thru Monday at 8.30 you can park for FREE on a single yellow line or pay a display.turn left out of the hotel and the road is the third on the right.I saved 63 pounds/$100 by doing this and it paid for some nice meals.I did'nt get to the pool or health club but understood it was quite nice.There is a nominal charge of 5 pounds which seemed fair.The rear of the hotel backs to the dock and would have been lovely to sit out in the summer.The bar was open till very late and very reasonably priced. The hotel was lively and well located ,it could do with a refurbishment but I suppose then they would increase the room prices,Its not the Ritz but great value for a London Hotel I would stay there again.

wonderful but no free internet and not enough shampoo

The apartment is big and very comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped. Very nice staff. It's a pity that the rooms are cleaned only 3 times a week and not enough shampoo and conditioner are left. But It's a wonderful and very recommended hotel.

auch wenn wir ein Appartement bewohnt haben, könnte man in einem 5 Sterne Haus erwarten, dass täglich die Handtücher gewechselt werden und nicht jeden zweiten Tag. Außerdem sollte nachdem das Reinigungspersonal das Bad gereinigt hat keine langen schwarzen Haare auf dem hellen Boden liegen. Offensichtlich gehört auch die WC-Bürste nicht zum Standard. Auch fehlten für die Geschirrspülmaschine die Reinigungsmittel und Geschirrtuch. Service und gesamtes Erscheinungsbild soweit ok.

The aircondition was very noisy

The aircondition was very noisy and it was not possible to open windows in the rooms. Workout room was rather small and located so you had to pass people in the breakfast room in your gym dress in order to get there.

Hotel was fine, for sleeping, but nothing great, not like other Holiday Inns I have been before. Room was very small for 4 people. Good thing is that breakfast was included. DLR (transportation) is less than 10 min walk and takes you to the very centre of London in 30 mins.

Description
Journeys London Greenwich Hostel offers dormitory rooms in London just 5 minutes' walk from Dept ford Rail Station. It offers luggage storage, in-room lockers, and free laundry facilities. All dormitories include free Wi-Fi and fresh linen. The bathrooms have 24-hour hot water. Breakfast is also provided in the morning. Journeys London Greenwich Hostel also includes a communal lounge area/common room with large-screen TV and pool table. Access is available to the hostel 24 hours a day. Central London is just 15 minutes' drive away, easily accessible from New Cross Tube Station, which is a 15-minute walk. The O2 arena is only 10 minutes' drive from the building. The kitchen facilities are not available anymore, but have been replaced by a fridge and a microwave accessible during limited hours. The hostel has also now a caf shop, accessible to all our customers; the menu has a large selection of food and drinks with very reasonable prices for those who are staying with us.

The room had an extremely comfortable double bed and surprisingly comfortable fold-out couchbed. There was a shower and a deep tub and a separate toilet, which worked well for two females sharing this room. Although there were plenty of hand and bath towels, no washcloths were provided, so for American visitors, bring your own.

Fine Location For East-End Business

Very European style, very clean and very pleasant... Had business in the Canary Wharf district and though this was a couple of stops away on the DLR, worked out great. Eastern European desk help had a little trouble with my Texas twang, but overall they did their best to help when needed. It's a little bit inconvenient for an early morning flight out of Heathrow or Gatwick, but if you've got the time, you can save the cab fare (80 GBP to LHR!)

Relaxing location - perhaps different when there is a show on at Excel? When trains are running, easy to get to anywhere in London. When trains are not running (e.g. maintenance work at weekends) - nightmare, with buses, exchanges, etc.). Hotel has a taxi service arrangement that is expensive (albeit comfortable and fixed price). Didn't feel there were any extra benefits in being a Priority Club member.

Unfortunately the Docklands Light Rail which is the ONLY efficient transportation close to the hotel was closed for the weekend and apparently it has been closed every weekend for MONTHS and will continue to be for an unknown number of months in the future! We were not informed of this at the time we booked the hotel,so ended up spending a fortune in taxis during our stay at the hotel. The closure is for "maintenance" but apparently this is an ongoing situation. If you are traveling on the weekends I would advise you find another hotel close to the underground rather than the DLR.

One of the best value Hotels in London, and in a great location if you need to be in the Dockside area, or near London Airport & The 02 Arena. Sadly the bar has no drinkable ale but the food is good and The Chinese Restuarant is one of my favourite places to eat.
