We had a great time spending five nights at Convenish. Location is great - it is located at a quiet street within walking distance to most happening places e.g. bond st, oxford, piccadilly, china town etc..... Hotel staff are generally helpful. Room is clean and comfortable. Will not hesitate to pick Cavendish for accomodation if we revisit London again in future.

We spent a wonderful three days in London based at the Cavendish hotel. This was a very convinient, well located and impeccable hotel witha a truly helpful and friendly staff. The icing on the cake for us was that the conscierge borrowed us umbrellas when an unexpected shower hit just when we were leaving for the theater. Thank you Cavendish, I will absolutely book again weather on business or leisure.

The Charing Cross is an old railroad hotel that has recently received an extensive and expensive renovation. The rooms are stylishly modern with almost every amenity (heated bathroom floors and towel rack, flat screen tv and free hi power wi-fi. They are cleary going green here. The bathroom even has a night light so you don't need to keep it;s lights on all night. One problem though, the bath room mirrors are insufficiently lighted. a lighted ,magnified shaving/makeup mirror is need. Great Location!

My one complaint is with breakfast. Normal Price is £18.95 , which is expensive unless you are getting something special , and you are not. They do a special voucher which they give you at check-in for £11.95 . This appears to be somewhat random. I was offered the voucher once and had to ask for the vouchers the other two times. My complaint about breakfast , sis that for something that they want to charge £18.95 , it just is not that special. They have all the facilities and correct ingredients , but cannot execute.

Awesome location if you're not looking for something fancy

  • tientienwoo
  • Nov 26, 2012
The rooms aren't huge, but they are clean and comfortable. The staff that I encountered were all friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs is often overlooked but the food is fantastic and the place apparently has quite a reputation amongst locals due to the previous chef who was somewhat of a celebrity but the new chef does not disappoint. Both my appetizer and main were excellent, and I am quite an experienced diner. The hotel's location is hard to beat, right next to the Marble Arch tube stop (Central Line) and minutes away from the Bond Street stop (Jubilee Line) as well as tons of shopping and Selfridges, the huge British department with beautiful window displays and quality wares. As I said in the title, it's not a fancy, luxe hotel but I'd stay here again for the price and location.

Very comfortable hotel. Good value for money. Located near Underground, major shops, cafés etc. Staff stressed and sometimes very unfriendly. Especially those cashing breakfast buffet: We felt as if we had been here by charity and not as hotel guests! Held a Weetabix in the hand when walking out of restaurant and was shouted at: You're not allowed to take food out of the hotel!!! 1 (one) Weetabix...!

Great Location-Nice Hotel-Excellent Staff

  • Saggart
  • Apr 23, 2012
So convenient! All the staff were so competent and polite, it made my 3-day stay a real pleasure. I felt so well looked after at the Park Lane. The concierges gave great advice on restaurants, tours--even church services. When I needed a reading light--someone was there with one within 10 minutes of my phone call. I couldn't ask for more attentive, interested service. Green Park tube station is just a 2 minute away, so's the start of the double-decker bus tour of London.

The windows let in all the street noises which go all night, with arrivals and departures. A room out the back would be quieter. The shower is so small you cannot bend to pick up the soap. Very nice decor comfortable bed.

It was OK!

  • Eurohoppa
  • Nov 2, 2012
Family-owned business; house is old but still beautiful; room was small - hardly any space to put our luggage; has no AC or lifts. The hotel's main advantage is its proximity to the coach and train stations. There are also several restaurants and shops nearby. The neighborhood is quiet and private. Breakfast buffet had good selections, but turned out to be not included in our vacation package so we had to shell out 25GBP for eating breakfast there for 2 mornings. We were told when we checked in that it was included but that was neither here nor there. We only stayed in the hotel for 3 nights; our stay there was just OK.

The hotel staff greeted us weary travelers with smiles and helped us out in every way... The room was even better than expected... service and staff took care of every request... From beginning to end... From greeting, to wake up call, to bringing us to the room, to handling the luggage, to lovely bath items, to turn-down service with fresh water, to excellent cleaning, to heated towels, to electrical converter, to EVERY DETAIL, ETC., this hotel exceeded our expectations and provided us a very nice stay. It was walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Piicadilly, museums, shopping, good food, and much more. We would happily stay there again.... Thank you!! • Oct 13, 2012

It could have been perfect

This is a great hotel in a perfect location of London at surprisingly reasonable prices for London. I would have given raving reviews, but I had an incident that left bad aftertaste. As I was rushing out in frenzy, I left behind few items in one drawer. My girlfriend who lives in London called them up and went to retrieve the forgotten items the following day. When I got home, I discovered that the items that were new, in the original package, were missing. It was few sets of expensive underwear. It’s the concept that is ugly. It’s sad how one employee can give the hotel a bad name. On the positive note, there were some exceptional employees, like Daniel at the front desk who checked me in. He took his times, even showed some rooms, introduced upgrade options. All and all, I would recommend it, but would suggest not to leave anything behind ;).

Terrific location and good value

I have stayed at Flemings twice in the past year and would come again without hesitation. Flemings Mayfair is in a terrific location with easy access to central London sites and just two blocks from Green Park tube that is direct from Heathrow. The rooms are very clean and richly decorated but quite small with little room to do more than get around the bed. Even so, I'd highly recommend Flemings for terrific location, very helpful staff, and good value.

The hotel's many amenities include meeting facilities and banqueting suites, the Piccadilly Health Club, a jacuzzi, and one of London's largest indoor swimming pools. The time-honoured English tradition of afternoon tea takes place at the Oak Room Lounge, and the Terrace Restaurant and Bar serves gourmet international cuisine. London's cultural attractions are just minutes away from the hotel, including Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden.

The hotel was very nice and very conveniently located in order to easily travel to many of the typical London attractions. The opposite side of Piccadilly Circus from where the hotel is located can be extremely busy and a little rambunctious at night. However, we didn't notice it on the side where the hotel is located. The concierge was helpful, with the exception of one we encountered. The room was small, but I guess typical for London. The beds were extremely comfortable.

Hotel has a great restaurant and bar on site; plenty of restaurants and pubs; coffee shops, bank and the tube right there. One of the best places I have stayed at in London and I'm there twice a year on average.

Satisfait !

  • StephdeNice
