Dubai Hotels

We only used the hotel for sleeping as we were out most of the time. Golden Sands chain of hotels is quite bemusing. I didn't realise there were 10 different blocks. Before you leave UK make sure you know which block you are in. We were in block 5 and found it rather difficult to find the nearest metro. In the end we went to Fahlidia but couldn't find the route to Berjuma (two weeks ago was called Khalinda bin Walinda)! Look for Spinneys supermarket as a landmark. But overall the hotel was sufficient and clean, if not big! Buffet breakfast is good. Saw the roof top swimming pool but didn't have time to use it. Dubai was as lovely as ever!!

Das Hotel ist sehr schön, das Personal sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig und sehr gut. Leider befindet sich eine grosse Baustelle direkt neben dem Hotel, danach ist der Pool wohl sehr lange ohne Sonne! Alles andere ist perfekt!!

I had a good stay at this hotel, it was very clean and the staff was very good. Also the location was good we could reach what we need.

This was my first time out of the US. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was very pleased with everything. Location was ideal. I really enjoyed my stay. Breakfast was delicious.

It was a bit confusing to see this hotel listed as 4 or 5 star depending on the site you viewed it on. But it makes sense after staying there: it is very new, clean, upscale. But if you are expecting a 5-star resort, then move on (and pay more). This is a very nice apartment hotel so you get a much larger living area, but you DON'T get all the resort perks (full-on spa, well-rounded concierge, free internet, sleek effortless superior service, great on-site eatery, etc). But you DO get a nicely-appointed, clean apartment with a kitchen. Even if you don't plan to cook, it's nice to have a large refrigerator, sink, eating area, lounging and entertainment space. The bathrooms are a bit small and not luxurious, but well-proportioned and nicely-appointed with bath robes, and personal items. Everyone on the staff was very courteous, very helpful, and professional. But as a group, they lack that superior training and subtlety that you should receive in a 5-star property. Location is fine because in Dubai everything is spread out anyway and taxis are cheap (so is the nearby metro). Restaurant choices nearby are limited (a coupe of large hotels nearby have excellent, if expensive restaurants) and it appears that "The Place" will have its own lobby restaurant soon, too). For the price and size of room, this is great! Just keep in mind that it is not a resort, it is not near the beach and it ain't 5-stars.

Everytime I stop in Dubai, I always come to the Media One. I prebook days before or get on my laptop at the airport and quickly make my reservation. The Hotel has everything I need and the location is good enough to easily reach major venues. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

I always enjoy my stay at the Media One Hotel in Dubai. I have been coming to this hotel for a long time now. Every time I fly into Dubai I make the Media One my first destination. The hotel has wonderfully stylish and modern room, with chic furniture and an iPod dock, which I am always in search of, and free wifi. The cafes downstairs have great foods and drink and the rooftop pool has great bar for the night with music. The breakfast is amazing and I always see the promotion for other meals offered at the 18th floor restaurant, but have not yet been to them. Hopefully someday soon!

This hotel is superb. I have no idea why some people have not given it 5 stars. We were looking for a luxury break where we had nothing to do but pamper ourselves for a week and thats exactly what were able to do. The half board option was brilliant and made it great value for money. The choices of restaurant were excellent and the extra we paid on top of our half board to eat in the Amala Indian was worth every penny. The location is fantastic with great views and proximity to the beach. It is a 15 minute taxi ride to get into the city and the shops however this was not an issue for us, but be aware. We have stayed in 5 star hotels around the world and this one is right up there with the best we have experienced.

We thought the hotel was very nice but the restaurant at the hotel was very expensive. There are a lot of restaurants a few minutes away. We had a sea view room which was very nice. Closest metro station is only 5 minutes away by taxi. Don't take the taxis arranged by the hotel, they're at least twice as expensive, however, you get to ride in a Lexus ES350 so I guess that deserves a premium. The hotel is surrounded by hi-rise buildings which I thought was a negative.

My only complaint is the beds both times I stayed there were very firm, to the point I would nearly call it hard. But the room was nice, clean, the staff was wonderful. They were very helpful, helped me set up tours of the city, got me taxi's when needed, I can't complain. Also the bar was great and the mexican restaurant was amazing! I have stayed at this hotel twice while going to and from the States from Afghanistan. I must have went in an off season though, because I only paid about $129 for the night and that included my room service.

I expected more. It is convenient tot he airport and the shuttle service is good. The room was big but soulless.

Staff was polite and professional. Location was not within walking distance of anything, but it was too hot to walk very far anyway (June). Room was clean and pleasant. As we arrived early in the morning, the hotel was able to have our room ready by 9 am, which is unusually early, but very helpful! I would recommend this hotel.

This is a very good hotel, who know how to train their staff in customer service. The lower than avaerage mark for cleanliness may have been through a misunderstanding, as the hotel have an admirable policy of letting you choose whether your room is cleaned, or not, to save the planet. I think wires got crossed and I had to ask for the room to be made up. The pool area is a little small, and on occassion it was hard to get a place in the sun, but here as well, the staff were extremely helpful, I will be back!

Nice having a balcony. Mall is attached and a metro stop closeby. We had some water issues which eventually were resolved, but the water was muddy brown for a day.

Hotel was Fab-u-lous! Picked from airport in Range Rover provided by hotel. Beautiful room chocked full of top notch amenities. Three minute walk from the elegant Yacht Club. Trendy Mall located right in hotel. On-site dining facilities served a variety of delicious cuisines. Wonderful and professional staff. Was so pleased with stay that I'm returning in two weeks.

I stayed here for a day as I passed through on my way to Afghanistan so when I had the opportunity to take a short break, I chose Dubai and, being a creature of habit, the same hotel. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. It is located in Deira, and connected the huge Deira City mall. I'm not a huge shopper but I found the location excellent because I had access to Carrefour's (I think it's a French Wal-Mart) and plenty of familiar places to eat. The personnel at the hotel are very friendly and all speak English to one degree or another, making communication in a foreign land much easier. They are extraordinarily polite and each, no matter what job they have, greet guests each and every time. As we didn't plan on doing much but wanted to see the city, the concierge proved very helpful, providing necessary information for tourists to enjoy their stay. But then again, we didn't make any out of the ordinary requests nor did we want to visit any obscure or out of the way places. The breakfast was complimentary and provided a good cross section of American, European, Indian and Arab foods. The wait staff was very attentive. There is a underused gym with plenty of aerobic machines and free weights. But don't let the photo fool you...the mirror on the wall makes it appear there are twice as many treadmills as there are (in reality about 8 or 10) The rooftop outdoor pool, when I went at the end of March, was not crowded, open late, and had nearly bathwater temperatures. In the late afternoon it became a little chilly as the winds picked up, more noticeable on the 8th floor. Only had a few drawbacks. Alcohol, as one would imagine is fairly pricey, especially at the hotel. The room "bar" was very expensive although it offered a wide variety of nips and pints. We got some good advice and bought some rum and wine inexpensively at the duty free shop of the airport. We sort of "prepped" in our room if we went out and had a drink or two away from the room/hotel. The hotel bar was dead on the two occasions we happened by but I know there are places to go if one wants to party. In fact there was some gathering going on on the 2nd floor my last night, but I think it was a private affair. There was no card or pamphlet in the room explaining whom to call for what service (laundry, housekeeping, information, concierge, room service, wake up call) so we referred to the symbols on the phone. Some would ring and ring and never answer, so the default became to call the operator or front desk. The air conditioning was uncomfortably cold, even at its warmest setting. We got to the point where we would call down and have it shut off in our room and turn it back on needed, which the staff did so promptly. Had only two issues with replacement items. Didn't get a newspaper two days in a row and had to ask for it. Also, had to request new bath towels one day. At least one of these seemed to be derived from some confusion as to when we were checking, as evidenced by a manager suddenly entering our room at one point (after knocking and stating "housekeeping") and inquiring as to when we were scheduled to leave. This was much more amusing than it was annoying however, as my gf had just come out of the shower. Overall it was a great, albeit short, trip and our stay was very enjoyable. It was nearly as enjoyable as some of resort destinations in Cancuun, Mexico I've been to but I would give a nod to the hospitality to the City Centre Hotel and the sun is almost guaranteed (which I'm sad to say, I can't say for Mexico in my limited experience). The city is easy to get around, relatively inexpensive, everything is in English, and there is plenty to see and do. We opted to mostly hang out at the hotel and enjoyed our stay immensely as a result. I would go back without question, assuming the price is right.

Very happy with my stay. Concierge staff need to get on top of city offerings. I payed a lot more for the big bus night tour because they didn't know or understand the tour pricing structures, otehrwise very good.

This is arguably an older style luxury hotel but delivers on room comfort (although I'd have liked colder aircon to deal with the 40C temps outside!), cleanliness and excellent customer service. From reception where I was offered a fruit juice and could check in a little early (1pm instead of 3), to the porters, free shuttle, and business centre, where you can check in online and print your boarding card, everything runs like clockwork. I liked the business atmosphere although here on a leisure trip - there is a calm and interesting, even somewhat glamorous ambience at all times of day. There is a Metro station nearby but in the heat you will probably end up taking cabs anyway. Dubai Mall is about a 10 AED ride, and takes 5 minutes. Tip - take the free shuttle there and cab back. There are also regular shuttles to the beach areas but personally I'd recommend staying at a beach hotel if you want a sun and sand holiday and avoid faffing about with transfers. There are restaurants at various price levels dotted around from the Noodle House to the rather gourmet VU restaurant on the 50th floor. I made the mistake of toddling in without checking the menu/prices and ended up paying about £80 for dinner which is not my usual price range. Excellent cuisine and service though, so maybe better for a special occasion , like the table next to mine.... The room service menu is actually good value for a hotel of this calibre. Overall I'd stay again (at a cooler time of year). The rooms are blissfully quiet and restful, and it's well located in a quiet enclave near Sheik Zhayed Road but handy for some of the key areas like the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa. The airport was a 10 minute ride (at 7am on a weekday) and cost 24AED with a taxi appearing in seconds as I left the hotel. Hotel standards in Dubai are high and this hotel is one of the best I've stayed in out of many over the years.

we did a lot of siteseeing tours . The hotel was very beautiful but was were cold to visitors it seems to be more for buisness. i cannot compare this trip because it was our first to this part of the worls.

Wonderful family holiday.Nice breakfast buffet with a variety of food and fruits. Rooms were clean and spacious. Nice and friendly staff, who are willing to help guests.

nous avons passe un tre bon sejour, nous etions 2 adultes, 2 enfants et un bebe. le personnel est geniel et je recommande vivement cet hotel. il est tres bien place et meme a pied on sen sort .

I can't say anything bad about this place. Free ride to the airport. Grocery store open 24 hours on site. Lots of places to eat near by. They charge for internet use like most others in the area.

l’hôtel est très bien placé ! pour aller à la plage ou sortir la nuit ... les bars branchés sont à proximité et aussi dubai marina pour manger en soirée . la chambre était superbe et très propre malgré les avis vu sur le site. le mobilier n'est pas du tout vieillot . la chambre avait beaucoup de charme et surtout très grande. le personnel ne parle pas français ! sauf un employé qui parle un peu . les points négatifs : la chambre n"était pas prête à notre arrivée. la piscine avec aucune possibilité de bronzer. les ascenseurs sont trop long malgré leurs nombres. le personnel ne parle pas du tout français et pas aimable. les points positifs : propreté , service voiturier gratuit , le journal tout les jours ,bouteille d'eau tout les jours , prise international fourni dans les chambres , deux télévisions , machine à laver. Service conciergerie au top . Nous sommes un couple très exigeants et nous vous recommandons cette hôtel.

The Hotel was great for the time spent. Dining was fine. The staff was very helpful and attend to all my needs quickly and courteously.

Freindly clean and well equipped with small rooftop pool area and great views of Burj and Atlantis. Swapped rooms from a Double to 2 x 3/4s with no hassle. 200 yds fro excellent Metro line station and easy walk to Dubai Mall and the snowdome. Good choice of restaurants and a sports bar but drinks as everywhere are expensive. This hotel is excellent VFM and is well above what was expected.

Great hotel! Nice and clean, staff was outstanding. Had a couple of questions on the inter-net access which was quickly handled. They worked with us do to the need for adjoining rooms and everything worked out well! The location was great as you had the city center mall a couple of blocks away, and in that same area was the access to the Metro, which I recommend you grab a Gold Card pass and go see the sights as we did!

Nous avons passé 4 jours plein dans cet hôtel et nous avons été très satisfaits. Le staff a été très agréable souriant et polit. J’ai réservé par ;;;;; et après j’ai contacté l’hôtel sur leur email perso pour qu’ils me confirment ma réservation et mon arrivée très tardive, ils m’ont répondu dans les heures qui suivaient. Points positifs : la grande chambre et kitchenette fonctionnelle, le staff, la piscine après une longue journée de marche, le wifi gratuit excellente connection dans le lobby, supermarchés proches, métro pas trop loin (environ 10 mns), nous somme même allés à pieds au musée de Dubai de l’hotel. Dernier jours nous sommes partis a 500 du matin avons pris le transfert de l’hôtel pour 40 AED (transfert à l’heure sans problème ni mauvaises surprises, pour info à cette heure cela nous a pris 15 mns) Points négatifs : l’eau de la salle de bain n’était pas très chaude, mais nous avons survecu. Attention, il y a un chantier en préparation coté rue. Pour nous en novembre pas de bruit, mais attention car cela arrivera peut être bientôt. attention le vrai nom de cet hotel n'est pas "Winchester Grand Deluxe Hotel apartments" MAIS "Winchester Grand Hotel Apartments" il existe un autre hotel appelé "Winchester deluxe Hotel Apartments" CE N EST PAS LE MEME !!! je l'ai signalé. Very unassuming but very effective and efficient staff front this well run aparhotel. Just a delight for those who do not want to be pampered but want very good service. We have stayed 4 times in the last year and standard remains as high as ever.

very helpful reliable staff,food very good especially the breakfasts.a very good location for visiting dubai- dubai taxis always available 24 hours,suggest guests use dubai taxi not hotel taxi as they are far cheaper. Prego italian restaurant very good. Check in and out(at 4am very efficient)also wake up call.I would definately stay there again

Very nice location and easy Acess to most shops and Deira. Very warm and ever smiling staff. Have been there 4 times and can see myself going there again.....

Although my stay was brief, the service and food was excellent. I recommended it to my business colleague and he was suitably impressed. We will be staying there in future.
