This hotel is located in Bur Dubai, a short taxi from the Creek and the markets. While the hotel itself is in a bit of an odd area, its proximity to the older (and more cultural) parts of town made it ideal for our trip. We liked being able to hear the call to prayer and be away from the tourist locations.
We got a great deal on Orbitz ($55 a night!). The rooms were very large, the bed was firm and the sofa/ seats were a bit worn. The place was very clean in general. For the price, this hotel was excellent. Not for anyone who wants luxury but ideal for the budget traveler. Hotel staff was pleasant.

I really like this hotel. It was a great deal for the price. The only down side was that on the day that I decided to use the pool it was closed for cleaning. Loved the free internet access and parking!

Super friendly and helpful staff. Huge, very clean, safe and quiet room. Great breakfast. Much better quality hotel for the price and ratings found anywhere in the US or Europe. Great help with directions and maps for the sightseeing spots and tours of the city. Would definitely recommend it.

I like to stay at the Holiday Inn Express across from the Jumeirah Dry Docks. I enjoy walking and I go to the Jumeirah Public Beach and rent a beach chair for 15AED. There is a large Spinneys Grocery Store with ATM and best money exchange rates in the area near the hotel. The Holiday Inn Express has a good free continental breakfast, great bar and restaurant. The staff are friendly also - the only problem is I have stayed at this hotel three times and twice I requested an early morning wake up call to catch a flight and both times I was not called.

We stayed 6 nights and found this budget priced hotel provided for all our needs. The fact that we could use the laundry for free, dry clothes and the in-room kitchen, roomy bedroom, all made for a very pleasant stay. The staff were excellent and always helpful and polite. The shuttle bus to the beach was good. The hotel is in a very quiet location with a couple of close by supermarkets.

Good sized room with kitchenette. Grocery shopping about 10 minutes away. Bus stop 5-minutes, but a 20-minute walk down to the subway station. Free local calls from the room was a plus. Quiet hotel/apartment area. Not really close to the 'souks' in town or the main "fancy" hotel/mall offerings down the beach. Hotel does offer a shuttle to the beach. Note: there are 3 "Savoy xxxx" in immediate area, be sure to specify the "Savoy Park".

Been there a week...should have left the 1.st day ;)
staff is incompetent and unfriendly, you have to pay for wifi, breakfast is a joke. had it once, after that i ate outside. rooms could need a scrub, bed was white with stains, kitchen had burnt heater plates. hot water only possible with the water heater switch placed to on an hour before. had discussions with hotel staff about broken toilet seat which was wrong installed (brackets wrong way, so it looks like this ((( instead of this (( -> both sides should match..not to mention that the whole toilet seat was worn, miscoloured and was pretty loose. guess they should talk about quality assurance ;) then i had a discussion about 2 more towels, staff came, gave me one and wanted one back...had discussions about wifi (they sell different hour-packages and there is a logout function. if you logout, it shows you how much is left. but the 1-hour is expired one hour after first login, so you can't logout after 15 min. and think you have 45 min. saved ;) didn't get a new one for free..unfriendly staff. avoid, this hotel is a joke!

I stayed here for a day as I passed through on my way to Afghanistan so when I had the opportunity to take a short break, I chose Dubai and, being a creature of habit, the same hotel.
The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. It is located in Deira, and connected the huge Deira City mall. I'm not a huge shopper but I found the location excellent because I had access to Carrefour's (I think it's a French Wal-Mart) and plenty of familiar places to eat.
The personnel at the hotel are very friendly and all speak English to one degree or another, making communication in a foreign land much easier. They are extraordinarily polite and each, no matter what job they have, greet guests each and every time.
As we didn't plan on doing much but wanted to see the city, the concierge proved very helpful, providing necessary information for tourists to enjoy their stay. But then again, we didn't make any out of the ordinary requests nor did we want to visit any obscure or out of the way places.
The breakfast was complimentary and provided a good cross section of American, European, Indian and Arab foods. The wait staff was very attentive.
There is a underused gym with plenty of aerobic machines and free weights. But don't let the photo fool you...the mirror on the wall makes it appear there are twice as many treadmills as there are (in reality about 8 or 10)
The rooftop outdoor pool, when I went at the end of March, was not crowded, open late, and had nearly bathwater temperatures. In the late afternoon it became a little chilly as the winds picked up, more noticeable on the 8th floor.
Only had a few drawbacks.
Alcohol, as one would imagine is fairly pricey, especially at the hotel. The room "bar" was very expensive although it offered a wide variety of nips and pints. We got some good advice and bought some rum and wine inexpensively at the duty free shop of the airport. We sort of "prepped" in our room if we went out and had a drink or two away from the room/hotel.
The hotel bar was dead on the two occasions we happened by but I know there are places to go if one wants to party. In fact there was some gathering going on on the 2nd floor my last night, but I think it was a private affair.
There was no card or pamphlet in the room explaining whom to call for what service (laundry, housekeeping, information, concierge, room service, wake up call) so we referred to the symbols on the phone. Some would ring and ring and never answer, so the default became to call the operator or front desk.
The air conditioning was uncomfortably cold, even at its warmest setting. We got to the point where we would call down and have it shut off in our room and turn it back on needed, which the staff did so promptly.
Had only two issues with replacement items. Didn't get a newspaper two days in a row and had to ask for it. Also, had to request new bath towels one day. At least one of these seemed to be derived from some confusion as to when we were checking, as evidenced by a manager suddenly entering our room at one point (after knocking and stating "housekeeping") and inquiring as to when we were scheduled to leave. This was much more amusing than it was annoying however, as my gf had just come out of the shower.
Overall it was a great, albeit short, trip and our stay was very enjoyable. It was nearly as enjoyable as some of resort destinations in Cancuun, Mexico I've been to but I would give a nod to the hospitality to the City Centre Hotel and the sun is almost guaranteed (which I'm sad to say, I can't say for Mexico in my limited experience).
The city is easy to get around, relatively inexpensive, everything is in English, and there is plenty to see and do. We opted to mostly hang out at the hotel and enjoyed our stay immensely as a result. I would go back without question, assuming the price is right.

Very happy with my stay. Concierge staff need to get on top of city offerings. I payed a lot more for the big bus night tour because they didn't know or understand the tour pricing structures, otehrwise very good.

The Jumeira Rotana is a very good hotel located in the Satwa district. It's just a few minutes by taxi to the Bur Dubai and Deira areas and just about 15 minutes walk to the exquisite Jumeirah Mosque.
My room was quite nice, with spectacular views of the Burj Khalifa and the buildings of Sheikh Zayed Rd. Be sure to request a room on the side of the hotel facing the Burj.
In sum, this hotel provides good value for money, and I highly recommend it.

My experience at the hotel was a very pleasant one. Before i went, i had read several reviews that sounded good but did not neccessarily make me feel like i was going to love it, but i must say my personal experience said it all. The hotel staff and services were exceptional. There are several restaurants in and around the hotel. However, you would need a cab to do other things in the city.

The hotel is modern, clean and functional. It has good facilities and there is a good selection of restaurants and shopping centres in the vicinity. The metro station is about 10 mins walk away, and there are plenty of taxis available outside the hotel. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

Okay for a Place to Sleep

Overall, the hotel was decent. I was not expecting a lot of frills, but I was able to enjoy my stay. My room was located near a drainage pipe so I could constantly hear water rushing through pipes. The staff is super friendly, however, maybe a bit too friendly, as the bellman called my room while I was napping to ask me out on a date!
The free breakfast bar is worth staying. Many hotels in this area do not offer free breakfast, and finding a hypermarket within walking distance is not an option.
Compared to previous trips, I must say that this was the least impressive hotel. I booked it on a whim, but again, was impressed by the staff's overwhelming kindness, as well as the safety of the hotel.

i recommend the hotel for cruise ship or airport very near both and taxi to either is under ten dollars - clean and comfortable with decent gym

Hotel acceuillant et agréable dans l'ensemble, situé au calme dans l'ancien Dubaï. Au dernière étage de l'hôtel l'on peut utiliser gratuitement le sauna, la salle de sport et la piscine ouverte sur le toit. Le seul bémol est que personne ne prévient que le mini bar dans la chambre qui est garni d'un échantillon de chacune de leurs boissons est payant lorsque vous faite votre check-out. Donc surprise 90Dirham à débourser.

With a great location in the city centre, the Admiral Plaza Hotel is close to the main commercial, business and shopping areas.Facilities include a temperature controlled indoor swimming pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre with Nautilus equipment, sauna and Jacuzzi.The hotels Ocean Caf is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves a good choice of international food including many Middle Eastern specialities. The hotel also has a well-stocked pub.The Admiral Plaza Hotel offers free shuttle service to and from Dubai International Airport.

the receptionist forgot to pick us up from the airport so that we have to go to the hotel by taxi. we have sent email to confirm the pick-up service but no response. Honestly, apart from this, i think they have good service, and good price, as they provide good breakfast and hotel coach to the airport.

Unbeatable location for the price

We thought the hotel was very nice but the restaurant at the hotel was very expensive.
There are a lot of restaurants a few minutes away.
We had a sea view room which was very nice.
Closest metro station is only 5 minutes away by taxi.
Don't take the taxis arranged by the hotel, they're at least twice as expensive, however, you get to ride in a Lexus ES350 so I guess that deserves a premium.
The hotel is surrounded by hi-rise buildings which I thought was a negative.
