Disappointment
The location of the hotel is fine. A short drive from the airport and somewhat private. The service was among the worst I have ever experienced. First, the room was filthy. There was a large piece of molded toast under the couch in our room (The couch did not have a dust ruffle either-it was open on all sides). No telling how long the toast had been there. We called the front desk to tell them that our room was not clean and no-one ever called us back. In addition, the restaurants are filthy. Birds fly freely in and out of the dining areas. There are feathers and bird excrement everywhere. We ate at our hotel ONE TIME in our 5 day trip. That is how repulsed we were. We are big fans of the Westin name and have stayed in some terrific Westin properties. Westin should be ashamed of this hotel and how it is run.

5 Star?
The Westin was a nice resort in regards of looks. Location is away from everything so you have to rent a car or take a beating on taxi fares. I've been to Mexico four times and this is the first hotel with no taxi shuttle. The resort was a graveyard, no activities, one outside bar that closed at 6pm. 15 dollars for a maragarita. The listing states 5 restaurants, more like 2. The rest were closed or only open for one meal.If you like swimming or playing in the ocean, poor hotel. Black flags the whole week.To many steps, hills, etc. Next time I will stay in downtown Cabo San Lucas. Hotel listing is very decieving.

over priced
The hotel was in a bad location and shuttle and taxis were not cheap. The restaurant food is highly over priced. $20 for a hamburger is ridiculous. We switched rooms 3 times, twice due to cockroaches and once due to no hot water. The hotel even charges for the normal complimentary coffee, $4!!!! Not what I would expect from a highly ranked resort name. I would not recommend this resort to any one. We spent most of our time in Cabo for relaxion and for cheaper food though we had to pay for the taxis and shuttles.

Nice, but could have been better
The resort is beautiful. The person checking us in was not very friendly, but the free margaritas were delicious! If you have trouble walking, it's not a good place to stay as the property is spread out over a large area. It is quite a trek to the lobby from the rooms. They don't provide printed maps, so it takes awhile to learn your way around. They seem to be understaffed. It took quite awhile to get someone to assist in the business center. When booking a room, make sure to ask what floor you will be on. We had a deluxe ocean view room, but it was on the second floor and the view was mostly of the miniature golf course. Even though the hotel was only 40% occupied, they wouldn't move me to a different floor. Since I was so close to the ground floor, I came away with a lot of mosquito bites. The pools are nice, but not the best for small children.

Great hotel, but staff steals!!
I feel bad giving the hotel a 2 star rating because up until the last day we had a great experience at the hotel. The positives: We opted for the all inclusive option which ended up being really good. The food is actually really good and the hotel itself is a very nice resort. It was VERY quite which can be either good or bad depending on what your looking for. We had a previous experience at an all-inclusive in Riveria Maya which was very crowded with lots of couples and had fun things to do. So this was different, not bad just different. They upgraded our room when we got there to one with a really nice view so that was great. The service staff at the pool were all very nice and helpful with getting chairs and serving food. Ive never seen such good food come out so fast! The breakfast buffet was also really good. Like I said things were very quite so we opted to go out in to San Lucas and San Jose 3 out of the 6 nights which made it a lot of fun and I def recommend to do this no matter where you stay! The negatives: There is just one: the housekeeping staff stole things from our room and then the front desk/manager basically tried to cover it up. (so maybe thats 2 negatives!) The story: One day at the pool we overheard 3 girls right next to us telling the bartenders that they had all of their bathing suit bottoms stolen from their balcony the night before. Besides the fact that things were stolen they were obviously shocked that JUST the bottoms were taken!! My husband and I heard this and thought "ugh how gross." Well that night we came back to our room and I laid out my bathing suit on the tub like I had been doing all week. The next morning we went to the gym and when we got back I noticed that 2 of the bottoms to my bathing suits were missing as well as 1 cover up. I looked all over and couldnt find them any where. We checked to make sure nothing else was taken and even though I had left money in a bag in my suitcase that wasnt taken! Nope just the bottoms and a cover up!! So we went to the front desk to which the person helping us pretended as though he was not understanding me and called the head of security to supposedly check the card of who went in to the room the day before. He reported that it was only the housekeeping staff and the mini-bar person. I hadnt even thought it could have been someone breaking in to my room!! I obviously assumed it was the housekeeping staff so this was not helping me feel any better. He then had me write down the exact things I was missing and said he was going to call the head of housekeeping and the manager to come up. This was after we were visibly upset about the situation and getting a little frustrated with his seemingly lack of understanding for what we were explaining we thought happened. Nonetheless we stayed very calm through out (I think I was just too disgusted to even get angry!) and eventually the manager came to talk to us. A few minutes later someone from housekeeping comes up holding my 2 bathing suit bottoms with my dress wrapped around them!!! I was shocked and again really disgusted because this obviously meant that maids were taking these things from peoples rooms (and seriously just the bottoms...eeew!) and what storing them downstairs??? So the managers explanation (as well as the guy at the front desk) was that these things were found in the lost and found and the maids just picked it all up with the sheets and they must have just "fell in." I mean really?! Forget the fact that these articles of clothing were in the bathroom and not the bed and that they dont collect sheets....how would just my bottoms and 1 out of the 3 cover ups "fall in" to the pile!! I really sat there trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and thinking "well maybe it fell in to the towels but come on--just the bottoms!! The tops were sitting right next to them. We decided we were wasting pool time so after realizing the manager was just covering up for the disgusting actions ...

Nice, but a long ways from everything
we got stuck in town and needed to take the shuttle back to the resort but the driver wouldn't take us even though there was room because you have to purchase a return ticket from the resort before you leave the place, pain in the _____ also we thought is was ridicules having to buy the extra bag of coffee in your room if you want more than 1 cup in the morning, If that small of an item is going to break the place they won't be around long. We invited them to Wyoming for all the free coffee they wanted. I would not go back, the little things were irritating enough to make me look elsewhere next trip.

Beautiful hotel but awful location
The hotel is beautiful and with a great view but the shuttle service with Gray line was terrible, they leave us and even though they give you a phone number for questions they never answer the phone. Taxis are extremely expensive they charge you about 40usd to take you to the marina and another 40 usd to go back to the hotel

Beautiful location
The view of the sea from this hotel is amazing. Even though the hotel description stated a partial view, it seemed as if all the rooms had a great view. The pool area was nice and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. That being said, it is some distance from other options for food and entertainment. Unless you want to pay $20 for a taxi you have to eat on premises for all your meals. The problem with that is the restaurants at the resort are overpriced. (We paid $16, plus tip, for four cans of Coca-cola and a minimum of $20 per person for a meal.) Also, with the beautiful view from the balcony and open air feel of the rooms, we did have several bugs, and almost one bird, that wanted to share our room with us. My party understood with the openness of the room, this was not a cleanliness issue so we simply asked for bug spray. The staff was able to bring spray and kill at least one of the bugs. Based on housekeeping reporting this to the front desk we were promptly contacted and offered either a new room or a bottle of wine. Housekeeping did a nice job, although for a four person room they always only supplied three washcloths and three towels so we had to keep calling the front desk. Also, housekeeping took one of the girls in my party's swimsuit cover-up with the towels. (It was white terrycloth, so I see how there could be some mistake) Also, when checking in the hotel had the reservation as two adults and two children. The actual reservation was for four adults. Initially the hotel said they could not do that and were going to have to charge us more (almost double) for the reservation. In the process of providing proof that the initial reservation was for four adults, the front desk said not to worry about it. Overall the resort was nice, but would have been great if we had a vehicle to get more meals in town.

Short drive from hotel
Take a taxi to the public beach and go on a water taxi to see the arch. We were able to negotiate the boat ride for five dollars per person.
