La Playa
Located by one of the pools with a spectacular view of the Sea of Cortz, La Playa offers a selection of light fare such as avocado and crab salad or the seafood salad with scallops and shrimp as well as delectable hamburgers.
Pesca de Dia, prepared with garlic mojo with Veracruz-style ajillo is a filling dish for this poolside caf. Cap off your lunch with fruit sorbets and exotic margaritas.
La Cascada
Offering a view through the resort's dramatic arch, La Cascada seats diners with a perfect view of the ocean and its tranquil waters. Inside or outside dining is available with a stunning view of the sea. The elaborate breakfast buffet with live classical music includes specialty coffees from different states of Mexico, while midday fare ranges from black bean soup in a coconut shell to spicy Thai shrimp. Nightly theme buffets may feature lobster or steak and decadent desserts such as chocolate truffle cake and flan.
An extensive wine list highlighted by vintages from around the world supports delicious regionally-inspired dishes.
La Cantina
Start the evening with a frozen margarita and light appetizers in La Cantina, where brightly colored Mexican tiles, candles and a big-screen television set the stage for a festive evening. Finish the night with a sample of fine tequilas and a cigar.

Nice Hotel

Location of hotel on the particular stretch of beach was subject to heavy undertows and riptides so while we were there it was always a black flag beach and so we werent able to swim. Nevertheless, it did allow for waves crashing over the rocks and the swimming pools made up for it. Check in was really slow, glad there wasnt a rush of people arriving at the same time. From Lobby to rooms was also a long walk down a hill or up a hill back to the lobby.

Awesome Resort

The Westin was the perfect place to stay. The staff is very friendly and always very prompt to meet your every need. Upon arrival we were greeted with waters and margaritas. The pools were amazing and the facilities were very clean. During our stay a hurricane was headed our way and the staff immediately evacuated us and took great care of us. I would highly recommend this hotel. One drawback is that the hotel is far from the town and the food there is very expensive.

When eating out it is much cheaper to eat outside of the hotel. Take a cab into town and there are many restaurants to choose from in the marina and at very good prices.

Great deal

We got a great deal on this travel package. For the price, we thought it was a fantastic stay. However, if we had paid full price, we probably would have been disappointed with the quality of the hotel. The Westin had a beautiful setting, but the quality of the hotel itself seemed a bit old. We also found a dead cockroach on our balcony. We rented a car during our stay there. I would highly recommend this -- it allowed us to go into both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas for lunches, dinners, etc. Definitely have dinner at Tequila Restaurant and La Panga Restaurant in San Jose Del Cabo. Excellent Food. We hung out at the hotel one of the days there. The pools were nice. The workout facilities were fantastic. The breakfast buffet was also worth it.

Beautiful Location Great Service

We came in just ahead of a hurricane! The staff was very friendly and when we had to move to a shelter, the hotel provided food and entertainment for two days! After the hurricane, you would hardly notice anything had happened. We woke up after it and the outside of the hotel was spotless. The room was beautiful and the food was pretty good.

"Great location and price"

The hotel was a great location. You had many pools to choose from and the food was good. I went with my sister and we do not have children so the adult pool was great. You had to be a certain age. The shuttle was convenient. Only about a 15 minute ride into town. The tours are great. Always something to do. Cabo is a beautiful place. The view from our room was amazing. They also do not allow people to come on to the property and try and sell you things. I definatley recommend this hotel.

Westin Resort and Spa

Great physical location and architect/designer should get an award for combining buildings, amenities and sea and "mountain" views. Looked at other resorts on this trip, and believe that Westin surpasses them all. Great service. Not many visitors due to economy, so restaurants were not open all the time as one would expect, but when they were, food was excellent. Biggest complaint: restaurant and bar prices just outrageous, but that is all over the Baja. lantana

Either eat at Westin, or rent a car/taxi/shuttle to next nearest resort or to nearest towns (Cabo San Lucas and San Jose) to find reasonable cost meals.

Very Nice Place, with a few caveats

The view from the hotel room is fantastic. If you like walking on the beach (and getting your fee wet in the sea water), this is fantastic place. Walk towards the south and you can walk easily 2 miles and see perhaps 1 or 2 other couples. The sea is not safe to get into (true for most of cabo). The restaurants are really over priced. Book a regular room and ask for an upgrade to the Royal Club at check-in. This includes buffet breakfast (which was very good), and unlimited drinks during happy hour (5:30 to 8 PM), and a slightly better view We were charged $75 for the upgrade, which was well worth it.

Beautiful hotel

I stayed at the Westin with my mom for 4 days during the week. Beatiful hotel - looks just like it does on the website. The service was excellent. The pools very nice. One weird point was that not all the hotel restaurants were open & those that were were only open for set times. For example - there was 2 restaurants open for breakfast & dinner but only 1 open during lunch. Although the food was not bad, the best food at the hotel we had was at La Cantina (essentially bar food - but very good). We noticed that the hotel was quieter mid-week - at times it felt like we had the pool all to ourselves. We had a "partial-ocean view" but it was great, didn't seem restricted at all. Be warned that next door is a "vacation club" which are like time-shares. Don't be fooled into agreeing to listen to a presentation in exchange for a free massage or some other gift. We got caught in that mess & it was terrible, aggressive sales people with a presentation that took MUCH longer than promised and the gift was hard to redeem.

El Herradero is great mexican restaurant in San Jose del Cabo -which is only about 10 minutes from the Westin. Good food, very fair prices. They have a patio & an air conditioned area. Also close to San Jose del Cabo's center where there are tourtisty & artisan shops to check out.

Beautiful location

The view of the sea from this hotel is amazing. Even though the hotel description stated a partial view, it seemed as if all the rooms had a great view. The pool area was nice and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. That being said, it is some distance from other options for food and entertainment. Unless you want to pay $20 for a taxi you have to eat on premises for all your meals. The problem with that is the restaurants at the resort are overpriced. (We paid $16, plus tip, for four cans of Coca-cola and a minimum of $20 per person for a meal.) Also, with the beautiful view from the balcony and open air feel of the rooms, we did have several bugs, and almost one bird, that wanted to share our room with us. My party understood with the openness of the room, this was not a cleanliness issue so we simply asked for bug spray. The staff was able to bring spray and kill at least one of the bugs. Based on housekeeping reporting this to the front desk we were promptly contacted and offered either a new room or a bottle of wine. Housekeeping did a nice job, although for a four person room they always only supplied three washcloths and three towels so we had to keep calling the front desk. Also, housekeeping took one of the girls in my party's swimsuit cover-up with the towels. (It was white terrycloth, so I see how there could be some mistake) Also, when checking in the hotel had the reservation as two adults and two children. The actual reservation was for four adults. Initially the hotel said they could not do that and were going to have to charge us more (almost double) for the reservation. In the process of providing proof that the initial reservation was for four adults, the front desk said not to worry about it. Overall the resort was nice, but would have been great if we had a vehicle to get more meals in town.

Take a taxi to the public beach and go on a water taxi to see the arch. We were able to negotiate the boat ride for five dollars per person.
