We stayed for two nights earlier, then one night later. We like the city as well as the hotel. It's realy worth the money.
Description
The CASCADA is a friendly 4 **** non-smoking hotel centrally located directly at the train station and only few minutes from the lake, Old Town and attractions.
All 63 rooms are comfortable and modern and equipped with air conditioning. Due to the name of the hotel CASCADA a mural of a Swiss waterfall decorates each room. The hotel has WLAN internet connection and an internet station for free use is located in the lounge.
The Spanish BOLERO restaurant is known for its creative and various cuisine. Spanish and Mexican specialties such as paellas, fajitas and tapas are served in Mediterranean atmosphere. In the trendy lounge & bar a wide selection of cocktails and wine are available in a cozy ambiance.

Take the train from Zurich and get off at the rear of the train - use the underpass and you will arrive a few steps from this small but comfortable hotel - excellent buffet breakfast - for Switzerland - excellent pricing

Single room was good. Some might find it small, but it was of similar size to other single rooms in European hotels. Location was handy for the train station and walking into town. I did read reviews complaining about the noise when leaving the windows open at night, but too cold when I stayed and no problems with noise when the windows are closed. Power points where in inconvenient locations, especially for using a lap top. Staff were friendly and helpful, and food in the attached restaurant was good.

This hotel was a great location to see the sites! I was there with my husband, my 16 month old son, and my sister for just one night. We wanted to be close so we could see as much as possible while we were there, without wasting time commuting. If you stay at the hotel, there is a 10% discount at the nearby parking garage (coming to 23CHF for 24 hours). The hotel provided a crib. I had asked for it in a memo during the reservation, but they did not get it- however, there was no problem getting them to set one up last minute when we checked in. The complementary continental breakfast was great- not just bread and cheese like some European breakfasts. We had a great room with a balcony overlooking the shopping district below. No problem with noise or traffic though. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

This hotel was in a great location, however the facilities were a problem. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and also no iron or ironing board. Apart from this, it was a clean hotel with friendly staff.

The hotel was very helpful in arranging our airport transfer from Zurich to Lucerne, but best to advise the hotel at the onset to preferably have a male driver who can lift and carry big luggages in the vehicle. Our family had 7 big luggages and several hand carry luggages so it was very difficult for the female driver to fix our luggages. My brother and husband basically did it for her. The female driver was not a very safe driver either who drove without wearing a seatbelt more than halfway of the travel and even let go of the steering wheel when she removed her jacket while driving. Our hotel room was very clean and bathroom was spacious. But there is no bathroom door and the hair dryer was quite weak and not very hot so it was hard to dry my hair in the cold weather. But the breakfast spread was quite good with various fresh fruits, breads, assorted cold meats and cheeses, cereals and juices. Te hotel is very conveniently located and close to the city center about 7-8 minutes walk.

Le service est dplorable, la reception n'ouvre pas avant 10H00 ce qui pose problme lorsqu'on veut quitter l'hotel avant cette heure, deplus la receptionniste est arrive 10H10 sans la moindre excuse.Le parking est loign de l'hotel. Pas de machine caf, ni de boissons diponible... enfin c'est un hotel que je dconseille.

The room was just like the photos, and very accessible from the train station. We walked it. Of course our luggage had wheels. The internet is not as easy to use nor is the wifi, not accessible in your room and no real lobby area. Perfect for the price. After spending two weeks in hotels, this was a pleasant surprise.

Others have said it, and I agree... the Hotel is fabulous! From the moment we stepped into the ultra stylish lobby to when we sadly said good-bye, our stay was flawless.
The Hotel is like staying in a gorgeous modern art installation, in a good way. Each detail, from the interplay of gleaming stainless to the warmth of dark wood, is carefully planned and executed. The lighting is dark and dramatic, and the staff, dressed in black (of course) is charming, helpful and remembers who you are, your room number, etc.
Our favorite highlights included eating in the restaurant, Bam Bou and looking up to a high window that looked into the lobby - whenever someone would walk in, it looked like a giant screen - the guests becoming part of the art. We also loved the glowing night stands and ceiling mural.
The room was huge, the bathroom perfect, the amenities (robes, body care items, sheets, etc.) luxurious. The steel outdoor louvered blinds (controlled by a bedside button) effectively blocked out any light and greatly reduced the minimal street noise and church bells.
The neighborhood is perfect - the hotel sits across from a small park, plus it's only a 5 minute walk from the train station or the old town.
However, if you prefer classic, old school hotels or are very conservative, this is not the hotel for you. But isn't doing the same old thing, boring? You ARE cool enough to stay here. Give it a try!
And may I end with?... well worth the price!

The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Lucerne railway station. The ensuite room was not large but we had a small balcony to enjoy and the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. The hotel is a short walk from the lake, restaurants and attractions. I would certainly recommend this hotel to a friend.

The location of this hotel was great! Just a one minute walk to the train station and to the rest of Lucerne. If we went back to Lucerne, I would stay at this hotel again because it was so conveniently located to all of the sites. In addition, the room was very modern, clean and comfortable. The only draw back is that there is no view of the lake or sites. Our bedroom window opened to an alley/parking area. The breakfast buffet was adequate and was held in the hotel restaurant.

Perfect location just across the river and in walking distance from rail station. Great breakfast, clean room and bathroom, but small. Bed was very comfotable.
Description
We are a 3 star hotel and restaurant situated in the old town of Lucerne right in front of the river Reuss. There is a 2 minute walking distance to the chapel bridge one of the most famous landmarks of Lucerne. Rooms are all equipped with color TV; direct dial telephone; hair; dryer and digital safe. Tea and coffee are complimentary in the room. In the first floor you can find our well recommended restaurant awarded 13 points Gault Millau. We serve traditional Swiss and international food. During the summer season the restaurant Die Schifferlaube and the Antipasteria la Barca both situated underneath the arches direct by the river side invite for a nice apero; dinner or a well selected coffee; grappa or cigar. Additional information; Children under the age of 3 years stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children over this age will be considered an adult. The hotel reserves the right without prior notification to cancel any reservation with an invalid or incomplete credit card number.

Great location @ the Reuss River

Good location, but be prepared to walk about 5 minutes from the nearest parking lot (Luzerner Kantonalbank). The elevator is tiny, and can barely fit two people with luggage, but that's due to you staying in a historic building. The views from the 4th floor river-facing room is amazing. The room decor is a bit cheap (plastic chairs, smallest TV), and a modest upgrade would go a long way, but aside of that, overall good experience

This is a wonderful hotel and the best I have stayed in Switzerland. The number one reason is the staff. They were magnificent. I felt like I was staying with friends. And the restaurant is excellent. On my last day, they had made up a to-go lunch for me for the train -- fruit, sandwich, water -- and this was complementary. The room was nothing special and the hotel itself is an imperfect, older building. But the service, location, charm and food make up for it and then some. Only downside is no internet in the room, but you can usually pick up the local, free wireless service.

Description
This grand establishment has a lot of character and offers an excellent standard of service and facilities. PL 10/07 This is one of the older hotels in town and this is evident from its grand traditional facade, which has recently been renovated. This hotel is located a few metres from the lakeside about 10 minutes walk into Lucerne's charming old town.

Although not centrally located, this hotel is in a pretty and practical setting, enjoying super views whilst being just a short drive from the middle of Lucerne. PL 03/07 This hotel actually consists of three buildings of varying ages connected together. The two buildings on the left of the central lobby are elegant and traditional whilst that on the right is a rather plain 60s or 70s built block. The lobby area is housed in a state-of-the-art modern section. The hotel is located roughly 2 kilometres from the city centre but there is regular public transport to the city centre and station which takes 10 minutes. The hotel faces Lake Lucerne and mount Pilatus.

The we stayed in was a corner room in the new wing. It overlooked Lake Lucerne and a commanding view of Mt Pilatus. The hotel is located away from the city centre but you can take a nice half hour walk along the lake side to reach the city centre. The Transport Museum is much nearer and definitely strongly recommended for those travelling with children. The counter staff are very helpful in providing information on getting around to the popular destinations eg. Mt Pilatus and Mt Rigis.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. We chose hotel for view of mountains and Luzern but the first night were given a room in the back with no view. Had to go back to manager to discuss room change from what was booked. Manager did correct things for the next night. The view was awesome. The buffet breakfast was better than expected and had a great selection.

The staff was very friendly even after a very long and foggy drive from Germany. The parking situation was disappointing, but overall the overnight stay was pleasant. Breakfast was an unexpected pleasure, very good.

This is a simple, no-nonsense hotel for travellers on a budget for whom location and basic comfort are more important than frills and as such comes highly recommended. As a general note, check-in is not possible directly at the hotel before 5:00 p.m. Anyone arriving before this time and wishing to check in needs to go to the hotel Monopol by the train station (its sister hotel). 0109SR This is a traditional building, blending in with its neighbours. The hotel is quite decent for the price. The location is just next to the train station and bus station which makes it very convenient. The only complain was the sound from the entertainment outlets in the night if the windows were open.

This hotel is located in the heart of Lucerne's historic old town. The location is peaceful as the whole area is pedestrian.
