Trois Rois has a lovely ambiance and a most helpful staff. They even have real tea and breakfast at 4AM, no problem.

The City Inn is a stylish boutique hotel, totally renovated in 2011, in a contemporary art decor. This 3 star hotel is located adjacent to the Hotel Euler, a traditional 4 star hotel; they both belong to the Manz Family. The City Inn has 30 rooms, 8 of which are deluxe. Some rooms include separate living areas and a terrace. All services offered to the Hotel Euler guests are also available to the City Inn guests, for instance free WI-FI internet access, Video on Demand TV and breakfast buffet. A Starbucks coffee shop, located at the entrance of the building, completes the food and beverage choice. If you are looking to spend a nice week end with your girlfriend or if you are on a business trip, the City Inn in Basel is the perfect hotel in the right location.

The 4-star Mercure Hotel Europe has 130 rooms and good transport links. It is 219 yards from the exhibition center and just 547 yards from the city center. The SBB/SNCF and DB train stations are 5 minutes by tram and the airport is 5.6 miles away. The hotel has 2 restaurants, a bar, 7 meeting rooms, a garden and a garage, and free WIFI and high-speed Internet access. Extensive renovations planned for 2012 and 2013. Between Nov 2012 and Jan 2014, the hotel will offer just 28 renovated rooms with breakfast.

Bon hôtel, à recommander. Emplacement près de la foire mais compte tenu de la facilité à utiliser les trams, fréquents et pratiques, il n'y a vraiment aucun problème : on est en plein centre ville en 3 à 4 minutes. A signaler d'ailleurs une initiative particulièrement heureuse : à votre arrivée, on vous remet une "mobility card" qui vous permet d'utiliser gratuitement ce réseau de trams durant tout votre séjour. Bravo !
Chambre double sur l'arrière du bâtiment agréable, silencieuse, propre, litierie en bonne état. Mais un peu chère 123 EUR en moyenne, auxquels il faut ajouter (surprise !) 27 CHF par jour de petit déjeuner, soit 21,5 EUR ; il faut cependant reconnaître qu'il est copieux et de qualité.
Bilan : appréciation très positive.

We selected the hotel because we like the look and feel of an older building that has been tastefully updated to model while preserving the old "feel".
Great location!
The best security system I have seen in any hotel; simple to use but affords excellent protection.
Menu is limited and did not change during our two days.

Start by saying Switzerland is expensive. Breakfast expensive, Coffee(small) croissant & juice 5 CHF. Continental buffet 19 CHF. Not plain that internet is not free. WIFI is. However staff corrected bill. Staff is very attentive and it is a huge bonus that the hotel issues a Basel public transportation pass to use. Basel has an excellent tram & bus system.

Excellent hotel in a perfect location on the banks of the Rhine, immediately opposite to old part of the city. Wonderful views over the river, and convenient tram line immediately outside, giving access to all parts of Basel via the free travel ticket provided. A superior restaurant , specialising in fish dishes. I would say that this hotel provides a perfect centre for the leisure traveller, and a practical base for business travellers, being within easy reach of the main industrial areas.

Location was really good, but the accomodation was basic - not unsimilar to student accomadation in the UK. The bed was small even though we booked a double, but on having asked why the recetionist said on these 'categories' of rooms were alllocated if you booked through hotelclub - so basically you pay a price similar to the going rate but you get second class accomodation.

This is what an hotel should be.

We were tralveling with two of our adult children, quad room was terrific. Very clever use of space. Just a great room. Highly recomended. It is a little on the expensive side but so is everything in Basel.
Lady on duty at check in was very helpful and gave us great recomondations on where to go for dinner.

For a hotel that bills itself as the largest in Basel, it certainly feels more like a boutique hotel. Friendly service and nicely appointed rooms. The staff is very helpful and low key. Since it's located on Messeplatz, it's easy to get a tram to just about anywhere in town. There are also some very good restaurants nearby although their own is also very good. Now, if they would just make the Internet connection free. Hint, hint...

Das Hotel ist 5 Gehminuten vom Marktplatz entfernt, dort hat man gute öffentliche Anbindung und auch viele Geschäfte. Meiner Meinung nach ein 3-Sterne-Hotel. Zimmer sind sehr gemütlich und gut ausgestattet, Personal ist freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Gegenüber gibt es einen Park und es ist trotz der zentralen Lage sehr ruhig. Ich würde das Hotel sofort weiterempfehlen.

The staff were all friendly, polite and very helpful. The room and public areas were all spotless. Location was also great - 2 minutes to the tram stop / river and 5 minutes many shops / restaurants. I spend my life staying in 4/5 star corporate hotels so had some reservations about staying a in a 2 star - but for this hotel I have no reservations in making a strong recommendation

The 3 stars hotel with 69 rooms which were completely renovated in 2001 possesses the biggest private park with old tree population in Basel-Stadt only a short distance to the Old Historic Town of Basel. Most of the rooms face the park side and all are equipped with bathroom-shower; TV and Wireless Lan. Coffee and mineral water are available for free in Samowar; the guest area along with free Internet station. The reception is open 24 hours and there is a playroom and playground with billiard; ping-pong and table football plus room of silence. Additional Information; Children age 5 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children 6-16 pay CHF 60 per night. Children over this age will be considered adult. The hotel reserves the right without prior notification to cancel any reservation with an invalid or incomplete credit card number.

This hotel has a very friendly feel to it - the staff were very polite and very helpful. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant for evening dinner, however there are some good restaurants very close by (one just immediately across from the hotel). The hotel serves breakfast in an adjacent building - it's more of a communal style, self serve simple continental breakfast (cereals, fruit, yoghurts, breads, eggs, cheeses). Wi fi was free which is an added bonus as often you have to pay unreasonable prices in order to access the internet even for a short time. Overall, a friendly, very clean, simple hotel.

This is a well-located, no-frills property where guests have the added bonus of the facilities shared with the neighboring five star Euler hotel. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE IS NO SEPARATE CHECK-IN AREA OR STAFF AT THIS HOTEL AND THAT CHECKING IN/OUT SHOULD BE AT HOTEL EULER. RY 03/08 The building is modern and unremarkable. This hotel is located behind the five star hotel Euler where guests should check in before going round the corner to the (separate) entrance of the Central. It is only a minute walk from Basel's main station.

Good location but basic

hotel is situated very close to the main station and several attractions can be found in the area. There are two tram stops directly outside of the hotel thus making it very convenient. However, the hotel is quite basic and relatively expensive for what it offers. Rooms are small yet confortable. You are mainly paying for the location.

The stuff extremely helpful, breakfast outstanding, besides the train station being located across the street from hotel, the rest of the public transportation within feet away from the hotel. Definitely will stay again here.

The Royal Hotel in Basel is a very good hotel with friendly staff, in a quiet neighborhood, with good public transportation nearby. The room was large with nice closet space, and a beautiful and well appointed bathroom. I would not recommend the restaurant, but there are many restaurants in the area that would probably be better.
