Canary Islands year round temperatures are comfortable. Taxi drivers were friendly and efficient. The resort was an hour from the north airport so plan for 110 euro cab fare, plus tip. Some taxis accept credit cards, but ask before departing. The resort's front desk staff provided a warm welcome that included a refeshing fruit beverage for all guests upon arrival. Pool and fitness staff were not as attentive as other staff. The housekeeping and food service staff were friendly and made extra efforts to grant guest wishes. Nearly all staff members spoke a variety of languages so communication was easy. The resort is gated so bring your room key if you leave the grounds to explore the public beaches. All beaches in Spain are public.
The views from the resort were breathtaking. The coi were well tended as was the lush landscaping. The towels and robes were generously available. The resort offered swimming, miniture golf, and other family friendly activities that are included in your stay.
While to you can hear your neighboring rooms activities, the rooms were clean and the bathroom is generously sized and well-appointed. Take time to enjoy tea and hear the birds sing from your private balcony. You pay an extra fee for the internet access, which is best received on the balcony.
Some guests are topless at the beach.

I spend about 150 nights in hotels every year. This was well worth the money. The room was comfortable, the staff was excellent and the views were spectacular. I used the gym every day. It was more than adequate. The spa was very nice and relaxing. The food was very good at all of the restaurants. I would definitely return on my next trip to Tenerife!

This hotel is in a quiet area so you really need a car if you want to do more than sit by the pool. The rooms are spacious and clean, but quite basic. Beware small ants, put things like sugar & sweets in the fridge to protect it. The pool areas are nice with decent pools and a childrens pool. Most foreign TV channels are coin operated. Very good value apartments.

It was good stay. The location of this hotel is perfect, few minutes from the beaches, also very close to shopping and restaurants. This hotel has very nice spa facilities. It was a lot of choice of food in the hotel restaurant. The only thing I did not like about my room it was quite noisy till 12 am approx. since the animation was doing their stuff on the 3rd floor of the hotel.

The hotel is a part of three-hotel resort in the "upper part" of the Town - shops (food, souvenirs, electronics) and bars as well as the botanic garden are located just next to the hotel.
Easy access to the motorway - in case you want to rent a car and drive around.
The town centre and the beaches are about 30 minutes walk away, half of it is stairs... easy going there, but quite an exercise coming back.
Hotel itself is a in good condition, clean and modern facilities. Sea view or view of "El Teide".
The hotel stuff was extremely helpful - changing money, renting a car, picking excursions - very very friendly at any time of day.
Dinner and Breakfast are PLENTY. There was a themed food every night with Chinese/Mexican/Italian etc dishes.
Entertainment in the evening was "OK", but it is pretty much the same all over the town, the hotel internal entertainers and the child clubs/mini disco were fantastic, our 5.5 year old loved it!

I have stayed in this hotel for a week in Puerto de la Cruz & I really enjoyed it. It is a great location, the balcony overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the town centre is cca 10min walk on the stairs.
The breakfast was good and plenty, same about the dinner.
A few things did not work (i.e. lamp at the balcony and the lifts were kept getting lost between the floors).
Some programs were on almost every day and the staff at reception was quite helpful. However the hotel has its own car park, it was closed and not goog reason provided for that, neither an explanation. Gotta park on the street, wasn't easy to find space.
Overall I think it was a good value for Money.

Excellent food (had a half board). But would like to have drinks - at least water - included. Friendly and helpfull staff.
The hotel's ad about having a spa available was a little misleading - the spa is not open for everyone, but only offers payed treatments that need to be booked in advance.

First..as for question 3, I am still in travel mode and won't be home till next week. So I'll say no because I haven't gotten the card yet, but I assume it will be waiting for me when I get home.
Now about the Albatros. Honestly it was lovely. The room surprized me. I was not expecting such a beautiful well decorated room. I did not get down to the resturant to try it but the wine bar in the lobby is very nice. The best part of the Albatros is the staff. The porter Eddy is a sweetie, always smiling and willing to help even if it is just helping me with my shopping up the stairs. The housekeeping staff were quick and perfect.
If I had a complaint it would be one that the hotel could not do anything about it. The balconey I had did not get any sun. It was such a lovely balconey I would have loved laying out in the sun on it and enjoying it more.
I will be returning to Tenerife and the Albatros next year.

What a wonderful hotel; clean, well kept and beautifully appointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back anytime. Really romantic venue within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. Pleasant staff.

The only thing the hotel really had to offer was great views from the balconies from the room. Other than that it was a pretty horrible experience. First we were placed on the 8th floor but after complaining about the bugs in the room, the dirt stains on the wall and disgusting curtians nevermind the fact that the whole entire hotel was water damaged from head to toe. They put us up to a higher level away from the dank and dark smell of the room which improved our stay a little.
Also, the 'warm pool' was freezing and the jacuzzi/hottub wasn't even luke warm. The hours of the pool were horrible as well, as we could only get one towel for the whole day and that wasn't even until 10 am. Also, the gym was extremely small with only 4 machines. You had to pay to use the pool table, air hockey and ping pong, so ridiculous!! And if you wanted internet it was 6 euro a day or you could use their outdated computers for 10 cents/minute. Didn't like it at all.
... so much for a 5 star??

This is stuck in the 60's and the staff is very rude and can not communicate very effectively. I was charged an extra 90 euros because we were two people in room and they ignore do not disturb sign and bang on the door when we were trying to get some sleep after our overnight flight. The only good things we liked about this hotel was the view of ocean and the location which is close to shops and dining.

The Be Live Orotava hotel is situated in Puerto de la Cruz 200m from the beach and Lago Martianez and just 26 km from the airport of Los Rodeos. It has 12 storeys and 3 high-speed lifts. The Be Live Orotava hotel has 225 non-smoking-rooms, all exterior with balcony, 212 of which are double, 4 doubles for disabled guests and 9 suites. Most of the rooms do have Sea view or Teide view. All are equipped with: complete bathroom, hairdryer, air conditioning, interactive TV, minibar, safety deposit box and direct-dial telephone. The suites also have: lounge, complete bathroom with hydro-massage and terrace with Jacuzzi. "La Cascada" non-smoking buffet restaurant with show cooking (evening), "La Rotonda" bar, and "La Fiorentina" la Carte restaurant.

The hotel in November was full of retirees. The location is good for people who want to be in a very touristy area, but if you are planning on going hiking and want more of an authentic city feel, this is not the place to stay.

The Barceló Varadero, situated right on La Arena beach in the southwest of the island of Tenerife next to the majestic Los Gigantes cliffs. The area renowned for having the best weather on the island. This is an ideal hotel for families. It was a great experience with with good facilities, very nice food and a place where you can really relax. It is modern and the services are all over very good. For us from South Africa is was real good value for our money. Thank you very much.

Excellent value for money...The hotel is just a walk away from the delightful local Playa Arena beach and some local shops and restaurants and a great base for those who prefer a quieter holiday away from the madness of Playa Las Americas etc.
Good size apartment/ room with basic kitchenette, lounge/ diner and bedroom & bathroom.
All acceptably clean, apart from slightly grubby looking bedding on closer inspection, but even that was not awful.
The Dinner "deal" on offer when we visited was well worth it (if not already on All Incusive). - A tasty hot & cold buffet, with good variation, plus all the beer & wine you can drink for just 15€ per head, much cheaper than restaurants!
Off peak, there was good access to the several pools & sunloungers, table tennis & other games available...and the bit of entertainment in the evenings, was OK to while away an hour or so...but If rocking nightlife, discos etc is your thing...this is neither the hotel not the location for you!

The hotel was just amazing....i really like it....good location....Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is lovely (the rooms a little small, but I wouldn't hold that against them. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is right on the beach (and you can bring you pool towel to the beach).

We were most impressed with the very friendly/helpful staff and the added extra provided by the hotel, glass of Cava on arrival, dressing gown and slippers in your room, voucher for the spa, pool towels changed daily. The hotel is lovely (the rooms a little small, but I wouldn't hold that against them. The breakfast was the best I have experienced in similar hotels. The hotel is right on the beach (and you can bring you pool towel to the beach). Will be back.

we had a very good holiday at the hotel and have no complaints whatsoever. the only thing for us was the entertainment wasnt up to scratch to say it is a 4 star hotel,
Description
The hotel is on the seafront in Las Caletillas, only 14 kilometres from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Catalonia Punta del Rey hotel consists of two towers of 9 and 7 floors respectively that offer a total of 423 rooms. The clients will be astonished by the number of facilities this hotel offers: 2 swimming pools with solarium and hammocks, sports facilities (tennis, squash, green bowling, miniature golf, gym and petanque), sauna, massage, hairdressers, pool, children's playground, shops, garden, buffet restaurant with show cooking during dinner, bread and pastry oven for breakfast and a barbecue restaurant. (could be payable)
The hotel offers a large variety of day-time and night-time entertainment activities as well as a live shows in the bar.

Hotel was not a 4 star hotel.... let say that was a 3 or 2 and 1/2 for USa standard. Was ok, clean and old looking... Good for the $... FULL of SEniors and the location was not the greatest... we had a car so for us was just a place to sleep..

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in January 2010 and the staff were friendly and approachable at the reception. The only difficulty is that it is far from any other places of sightseeing, obviously you would have to get to Santa Cruz to travel to other sightseeing places. Having said that the local buses 122,123,124 run every 15 to 30mins and the bus stop literally 2 secs from hotel on both sides of the road. The rooms are clean and a decent size, generally environment is lively and scenery very good. I stayed on the 9th floor and my room facing the swimming pool and seaside was beautiful .Food was tasty and had a good variety of salads, cold and hot foods to choose from. Entertainment in the evenings were sufficient but started too late on some days.
I expected to see an average of a few young adults or couples as majority were lots of retired and older couples. Its not an ideal hotel for young vibrant people if its all predominantly older couples. Overall services is good

Catalonia Las Vegas could not be better situated: directly at the sea, in front of the Martinez Lakes and with views of Teide mountain. Furthermore, it is located in the very centre of the city of Puerto de la Cruz.
The hotel was recently renovated in 2004 and has 261 rooms on its 13 floors. Catalonia Las Vegas hotel has complete infrastructure: heated swimming pool, children's swimming pool. Green bowling, recreative and video game room, Children's playground, miniature golf, table tennis, petanque, sauna, beauty salon, two hairdressers, shops, coffee bar, pool bar, live show in the bar, cosy Canary-Island Style garden, breakfast, restaurant with bread and pastry oven and show cooking during dinner.
In addition, the hotel has 2 room that can hold any kind of conventions of up to 150 people.

The best thing about this hotel was it's location since you can walk to just about everywhere.
From the exterior it looks alittle run-down and not a 4 star rating but the rooms are clean with minimal toiletries. Internet access on lobby is 1 Euro for 15 minutes.
Buffet breakfast didn't change in the 8 days we were there but they did offer a pack breakfast on the days that we left before 7am on tours.

A hotel I would recomend to everybody. Very nice , great location, good price, clean. I will give it a 10. Looking at the sea and also at the volcano Teide I will go back !

Hotel un poco viejo. El desayuno le faltaba variedad. Muy poco equipado el baño para el aseo personal. El mando de la tele no funcionaba para los programas.

Price for bed breakfast & evening meal was very good, I would like a bit of more variety in choice of evening meal particularly vegetables. Also the pool bar was very expensive and the food not very good, service could be better. Pool area was quite busy and beds very close together, could do with more room between them.
I found it difficult to understand why there was no tea or coffee available after evening in the dining room.
