We travelled about Spain for over a month and used this hotel as a hub. Every time we returned it felt like home. Travel by train is very convenient to chamartins station. A short taxi to town center was about 8 euros. Breakfast is one of the best we found in all of Spain. If you enjoy beautiful views this hotel has it. Modern amenities and impeccable service. All staff are multilingual and eager to help.

The hotel staff and service is really good. Even at 2 in the night someone was there in couple of minutes to help out. The hotel is little bit away from main attractions but it is convenient to hop on a metro from Cartegana or Avenida de America station.
The only complaint I have is our reservation did not indicate that it takes Eur 50 extra to stay in Zaha Hadid room which we did for the experience.

Description
The small XIX century palace was transferred into a hotel in 1999, respecting the majestic style of the era, at the same time as installing all the appropriate commodities for a luxurious establishment from the end of nineteenth century. Only a year after it opened, the hotel joined the Relais Chateaux chain of hotels, a group of the most prestigious hotels in the world. The hotels belonging to the Relais Chateaux must have four or five stars and less than 100 rooms, and is outstanding their strict respect for the five concepts that define the philosophy of this hotel chain: character, courtesy, peace, charm and cuisine.
Situated in a quiet exclusive residential area in the cultural and business center of Madrid, this creates a framework for a different concept of the hotel business in the capital of Spain.
The hotel offers baby sitting service, bar, concierge, conference facilities, currency exchange, doctor on call, Internet access-wireless, laundry service, lift/elevator, non-smoking rooms, pets allowed, reception, restaurant, room service, room service-24 hours, safe deposit box.

This hotel was undoubtedly the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. It is a Michelin rated hotel and that is very apparent in the impeccable service and great attention to detail. The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful and seemed to actually enjoy their job. Our maid was precious--she was an adorable short lady that could have been my second mother. The room was luxurious and clean. My favorite part was the bedet :-P. I only wish that there had been a bigger fridge and a less expensive breakfast buffet. The food was delicious--some of the best I ate

The hotel is good and we'd recommend it to others. Room is clean and the front desk is friendly and capable. Best of all is the location, which is in the "better part" of town and close to major attractions. Good value overall.
Drawbacks included: two queen-sized (?) beds that were pushed together to form a large bed, but didn't hold together well; the air-conditioning was not working, but the weather was pleasant and the room stayed cool; there's street noise, but it wasn't really a problem; the internet connection was iffy; the breakfast was extra and expensive.

Rooms are clean and well maintained, wi-fi can be alittle slow but who's complaining when it is free. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful, however both times we ordered room service orders were mixed up. However we recommend checking out the nearby smaller restaurants for authentic local fare when dining. Would definetely stay here again.

The hotel was in a quiet part of Madrid, across from the beautiful park Retiro. The rooms had a zen quality - sleek, modern, extremely quiet and comfortable. The desk staff was superb. They booked our trains for us and even told us the best seats to get for less. The free mini-bar in the room was a real treat after a long, hot day of sightseeing. We spent 4 great and restful nights at this hotel and would certainly return.

Really liked this hotel for its calm atmosphere, good food and large number of facilities. Service was good too. One small flaw was the location, that whilst good for the airport and the IFEMA trade fair, was a little too quiet in the evenings for a lone business traveller. I wasn't brave enough to make the 30-minute trip to the centre of Madrid. TIP: If you're on a budget and trying to choose between this and other hotels, consider the free shuttle it has to and from the airport. Taxis can be expensive in Madrid depending on the journey.

We found this hotel to be very friendly and comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful at all times. The room was delightful and a very nice size. Location depends on your purpose of being in Madrid, I would have preferred to have been a little closer to the old Latin Quarter, but you could still walk there and the Metro stations are close. If you are in Madrid for shopping it is in the centre of the up market shopping district and very convenient. I would certainly recommend a stay here.

A Good Business Choice

While Interviewing candidates for starting an EU business unit I needed a hotel in Cuidad Central. This was an excellent choice.
Two tips for business travelers:
1: Prebook the breakfast buffet when you check in - it is 1/2 price if you do 8 Euro vs. 15 Euro.
2: Book online - the rack rates are twice the online rate.

The room was nice, maybe needed a nice chair to sit in. Could not cool the room down though. Heard other guests complaining about it too. Wifi is spotty in lobby. Otherwise nice area.

I have stayed here before, and plan to return on future trips to Madrid. Clean, comfortable and conveniently located for Atocha train station, museums and a short walk to Plaza Santa Ana bar area. Staff are friendly (considering that they are madrileños) and breezed me through both check in and check out processes.

Fantastic location - minutes to parks and The Prado, a metro and railway stations.
My only complaint was lack of internet availability - 6 euro per hourto go on-line in the lobby in the lobby.
Personnel were helpfu, and I liked the "wooden" floors in the room as opposed to wall to wall.l.
We would go back there.

Sehr gute Lage und freundliches Personal.
Eine Terasse s. Bild konnten wir leider nicht finden, diese war einer der Gründe für die Buchung. Das Frühstück zu teuer, aber insgesamt trotzdem eine positive Erfahrung.

Excellent location!! It's near the Goya Metro Stop. Or if you prefer to walk, it's an easy jaunt to the Retiro Park or Prado and about a 2.5 mile stretch to the Palace. Great shopping and dining nearby or dine at the hotel restaurant. The walls are bit thin...if you get my meaning AND there was a night club on the lower level, which went till 3 or 4am on the weekend nights. Overall, the staff was friendly and rooms were nice!! We plan on staying there again!
