We had a lovely stay - the breakfast is very good and the people very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the lounge spacious. The only problem is the very small geyser we had - we normally ran out of hot water, but that was resolved! We took turns to shower first, wait a while and the next one takes a shower! Problem solved. Overall, we had a terrific time. Please remember to mention the outstanding view and the feeling of sitting on a ferry having your breakfast! Excellent!

Description
The Aparthotel Imperatriz is a small family-run establishment conveniently situated in the most upmarket district of Funchal, adjacent to the famous Madeira Casino and the Madeira Congress Centre (2 minutes walk). It is also 5 minutes walk from Funchal harbour as well as close to some of the city's finest restaurants and bars.
Facilities include a snack bar, restaurant, games room, business centre, small library, winter garden, freshwater swimming pool with a sun terrace affording breathtaking views over the ocean, private garage, 24-hour reception and a rent-a-car service.

Clean large rooms with balcony to catch the evening sun. Kitchen a bit basic but who wants to cook much on holiday? Sink, 2 electric hotplates and fridge, all in 1m space! Good places to eat nearby without the 15 min walk into the centre of Funchal. Was a bit noisy on one night, am!ome people aren't considerate of others and don't want to hear a guitar solo and vocals at 5.30am!
Parking underneath hotel 10euro a week, a bit tight but useful if you don't want on road pay parking, but manageable.
Would recommend the hotel and stay there again.

The Quinta Splendida Wellness & Botanical Garden estate is set in 30,000 m of landscaped botanical gardens with about 1000 species of different plants and flowers in which you can walk and relax.There is a 24-hour reception service and English, German and French speaking staff, plus an art gallery, library, and garden tour. At an additional charge make use of the rent-a-car and laundry service. Next to the heated outdoor pool you can use free of charge gym, billiards and table tennis. Furthermore, our 5-star 1400m Spa and Wellness area has its doors open for guests and offers an oasis of suites and luxury facilities (paid services), for example indoor and vitality pool, a Finnish sauna, an ice pool, a heated stone bed relaxation zone, a cardiovascular fitness and weight station, a Turkish steam sauna, a Far Eastern-style mud bath, an igloo with ice fountain and 10 treatment rooms with an extensive treatment list. Children under 16 years old are not allowed in the spa suites neither in the spa. A separate fact sheet with prices is available. Access to our spa to all customers who have not booked suites is possible when paying a fee which will be informed locally as well as indoor pool which belongs to the spa facilities therefore a fee is applicable.

It is truly like being in a botanical garden, overlooking the ocean. The rooms are very nice, with lots of space. The only drawback is the lack of air conditioning.

The hotel has a rather large beautiful garden where one can relax and enjoy a book perhaps. The snack bar with terrace near the pool, two swimming pools (one heated), two paddling pools for children, a sun-terrace, gymnasium, sauna, massage and games room are also services available in the property. The golf enthusiast will be able to find a putting green and a practice net located in the hotels' beautifully landscaped gardens. Conference and meeting facilities are also available. (DDS 02/10) This is a modern style building housing 136 rooms. This popular hotel is located in the main tourist area of Funchal on the Estrada Monumental and lies 200 metres from the Lido complex and a manageable 10-15 minutes walk to the city centre.

The hotel was clean and pleasant although the facilities could do with a little updating. Tne rooms have been updated and only thing missing from the rooms is airconditioning otherwise excellent. the breakfast is satisfactory. The best location however signage needs to be improved as it is very difficult to find when arriving. I would recommend this hotel based on its location and nice rooms.

This property is a great value for money. Swimming pool with beautiful views of Funchal, car park for those renting cars, this property is ideal for couples and families. (AB03/07) This is a historic building with a total of 45 rooms. Perhaps one of the top located hotels in town enjoying panoramic views of the bay of Funchal, the ocean and the mountains. The city centre can be reached on foot in 10 minutes.

A variety of entertainment is on offer such as folk dancing (1 x week) and pianist (6 x weeks) and theme nights. Facilities within the complex include car parking, fax, laundry service, wake up call, room service and baby sitting (upon request).
(DDS 06/08) Painted in a nice dark green shade. Traditional in style. Fantastic location, just below the main entrance to Quinta Magnolia Park and within walking distance to the city centre.

Ideal property to enjoy and relax your holiday, with the shuttle bus to the city centre and direct access to the sandy beach plus the gorgeous views makes this a desirable place to stay. Other facilities include: 24 hour service, bus tickets, newspapers and magazines, gift shop, babysitting - with prior arrangement, Courtesy bus service, car park, laundry, car rental and Wi-Fi. Also offering entertainment such as table tennis, billiards, darts, games area, daily live music, weekly folklore show, live shows in the Cocktail Bar.
DDS 06/08. Magnificently built over a cliff taking advantage of the great panoramic views from any part of the hotel. Superbly located on the side of a cliff, the Hotel Orca Praia overlooks a small sand and shingle beach giving form to a relaxing bay which offers you the most beautiful images over the Atlantic ocean. The centre of Funchal is within 10 minutes reach with the shuttle bus.
