Description
Near the historical centre of Guimares, set on a hill overlooking the city, we find the majestic Pousada de Guimares, Santa Marinha, a former XII Century Augustin Monastery, which after being rebuilt and restored, received the National Architectural Prize in 1985. This historic luxury hotel has unique charming points, like the superb gardens, to be counted among the best Portugueses gardens, a magnificent stone staircase and an artificial lake can be found among the trees. The hotel is very well located

The hotel is very well located and I have to say that the staff was nice and very helpfull (and a very good breakfast). There was however a serious problem : it was really noisy (noises from the street, the lift and above all from canalisations). Therefore I believe I would search another hotel if I came again to Guimaraes.
