Best Western, Managua

The best thing about this hotel is that it is right across from the Managua airport & no taxi or shuttle is needed to get to it. The hotel is nice enough, nothing special in US standards but when coming back from traveling through different spots in Nicaragua it seems to be luxurious with hot water, free breakfast buffet and swimming pools.

Love how close to the airport it is. Staff is very friendly, although a bit too eager to take your bags five feet for a tip. $1 goes a long way in Nicaragua so whatever you do, don't tip more than that. I got them to wash my filthy rent a car for $5.
Free internet is cool but the Spanish keyboard is confusing. Use "ALT-64" for the @ sign for example.

Ok but better options in Managua

The free shuttle from the airport was nice.The property is very clean. All of the staff outside of the girl who checked us in were nice. However THEY HAVE THE WORST HOTEL BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT ON!The restaurant located directly behind the hotel is an awesome place to get a drink. When we go back to Managua we will most likely stay at the Hilton Princess. It has a better location and hopefully better beds.

single room was moore like a prison cell. price didn't feel right.
i had no bugscreen on the little hole (window?) that was in the wall of my bathroom, so i had to keep the bathroom door closed to keep the sceeters out of bedroom. no towels in the room but they came fast after i asked.
staff was friendly and helpful, but not very knowledgeable. for example they said there is no wifi on the room, only in lobby. that wasn't true. there was wifi in the room. not too strong, but enough to keep the laptop connected, little bit weak for android.
room and the hotel were neat and clean.
hotel is in the nice neighborhood, next to the house of Violetta Chamorro. Maybe this made the price bit high?

Room was comfortable, hotel was in good condicion. But skip the restaurant. It was overpriced and 4 of 6 adults in our party got sick there after a week of eating safely in other much cheaper restaurants.

Near the airport

This hotel is only about a two minute shuttle ride from the airport. It is great for late arrivals when you do not want to go into town. The rooms, although a little worn, are clean. The AC works well and all night. The room darkens well for sleeping and outside noise is non existent. The room has a large flat screen TV and many cable channels. English channels are few. They have a great buffet breakfast in the morning with a large selection. They will prepare your eggs or omelette the way you like. This is my second stay here.

The hotel was really nice!!! This hotel is actually 5 minutes from the airport. Initially I was thinking we will hear every plane landing and taking off, but that was not the case, unless you were outside., Inside the hotel you heard nothing. The hotel is not in a great location, you can not walk to anything, I wish is was more centrally located.The staff was friendly and helpful. Our smoke detector was going off and before we walked to our room there was a guy there to fix the problem!!!!! The breakfast, was out of this world and included in hotel price. The buffet was also great but pricey $18.00 plus tip 15% and tax already added to the bill. The pool was fanatastic!!! There is a gym, but we didn't go after all we are on vacation. The power did shut off at least once a day for about 3 minutes, one day the power shut off 8 times. Out side of the power and location of the hotel I would do it all over again!!!! I did like this hotel!! We had a great driver to take us to different places, he was really great and reasonable...We were happy with our driver Roberto!!!!

We stayed here at the end of our trip in order to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff was great. They provided a free shuttle at 5am that was on time and only took about 15 minutes to get to the airport.
We tried the international restaurant (they also have a Sushi place), and it wasn't very good, but edible.

The hotel, the size of the rooms, and even the beds were smaller than expected. However, they quickly put us in another room with larger beds. There is no restaurant in the hotel. Although close to other hotels and a major mall, the hotel is located on a dead end street. The only exit from there, if walking, required passing thru a short dark area without street lights. Usually took taxis for shopping and eating out. Taxis arrived very promptly. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the service from the staff. We visited the National Museum, El Malecon,and the National Carheral.

The Barcelo Montelimar all inclusive resort had a gigantic swimming pool which was extremely clean, well located with delightful pool boys (and girls). The nearby beach was beautiful with bathwaterwarm ocean. Most of the evening entertainment included great dance productions. We didn't care for the audience participtation activities prior to the show, but most guests seemed to enjoy them. The staff was friendly and helpful. Plenty of daytime activities. We had trouble getting the maids to deliver 3 towels and 3 bottles of water to our 2 double beds room, but received the extra towel and water w/o any problem when requested. Abundance of food and drink. Tipping not required but gratefully accepted. Middle of the week is best as the locals descend on the week-ends.

Before you reach the actual hotel, you are hit by the beauty of this place as you enter the gates (secured by a guard). It is a long drive to the reception desk. You feel like your driving through a tropical jungle. Check in was a breeze. Quick and easy. Hassle free. The room is very clean and roomy. The staff is very freindly and seems eager to help, but limited English language abilities. If you know a few words in Spanish, or don't mind gesturing, you should have no problem comunicating. Even the security guards who roam the grounds are nice and helpful. The food is not what I would expect from a 5 star restaurant but then again, this is a resort, not a restaurant. Food was in a buffet style. Typical Nica traditional food mostly, and even though I am not big on seafood, the fish was actually the best. The grounds are well kept, and for those who are interested in different types of trees and plants, they do have signs telling you what they are. Beaches were empty, seemed that people prefer the pools, but that is ok with me. Made for nice romantic walks on the beach without having to worry about stumbling over someone. Maybe since I was there during the week, that may have made a difference. I was there only 3 and a hlaf days, but now I wish it was longer. To enjoy the whole experience, try to be there at least a week. I know the next time I go, I plan on taking many members of my family with me and probably stay at least 6 or 7 days. Only drawbacks I can say about this place, is that they should give their staff more training in English. Also they may want to incorporate some type of courtesy shuttle to and from the airport( even for a small fee) As of right now, you have to take a taxi and it is a $60.00 (American money) ride each way (on average 1.5 hour trip one way).
