We stayed 2 nights at the intercontential and had a great time. The gym was very nice for hotel standards and free. We utilized the concierge service many times as it was expensive to pay for Internet. They were consistently professional, attentive and helpful.
The location was great and we walked to Te Papa museum, Courtneay and Cuba Street as well as the Cable cars.

4-Night Pre-Christmas Trip to the Capital
-

- Dec 20, 2011
We found everything at the hotel to be quite exceptional indeed. Recently renovated, we found the contemporary decore well done. Spacious room. No tub to soak in after a long day out. The glass shower was huge! It is also a secure building, not that one has to be concerned about safety. We had no issues walking the streets in evening hours. Although we chose to hit the street running to find some cool local eateries, we are sure the hotel offerings are quite good as well. But be findful that the restaurant was closed Fri-Sun, with room service only being available.
What a city! What a location! If you are into walking, then this hotel location is absolutely perfect. Just minutes from the CBD and all this city has to offer in terms of dining and entertainment at it's best!
We should have stayed a few more nights, because as we walked about the town, we would stumble upon even more to see... Yikes!
We will have to come back to finish off our list of places to see.

Great location, close to everything. The views were outstanding, as were the rooms. The staff were polite, helpful, and cheery, offering to assist with things that even we hadn't thought of during our stay. The rooms were very spacious, very clean, and private. I enjoyed staying in a hotel that blocked out all the outside noise.

Lovely, intimate hotel in a perfect location

- Mar 19, 2012
My husband and I stayed at the Museum Hotel a few months ago, and we weren't impressed with our dark room, even though we loved the hotel and its central location. The decor is funky, featuring the work of local artists in the foyer. The atmosphere is intimate and the hotel is near the waterfront as well as tthe national museum, a few great restaurants, shops, movies, theaters, a great supermarket and our favorite bakery, Pandoro. But this time, we were in a studio apartment and it was amazing. Though the decor could use a bit of sparkle, the suite had a beautiful bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen including a washer/dryer. We loved every minute.

Very nice hotel, good location, really helpful and polite staff.
Our room was on the 8th floor which had a nice all around view and had a balcony. Unfortunately some people had a party on the back street which was surprisingly noisy and annoying at night. The restaurant was nicely furnished. We had breakfast and dinner there, and the food was very nicely presented and delicious. I would stay there in the future and I can recommend this hotel to anyone.

We spent the weekend at the Mercure - The Terrace. The service is great - very attentive and informative where possible. The buffet breakfast - very fruitful and the flat whites were alright (I am a self confessed espresso snob). the one complaint I do have is that we checked out on Monday before 11am, it is now Wednesday morning and the remainder of the $100 bond HAS STILL NOT BEEN CREDITED TO MY VISA, despite a request yesterday and another will be made today. The mini bar was removed, so none of that consumed. The only thing we needed to pay for was parking - $36.00. Come one Mercure. You can do a little better than this as your lasting impression on the guest.

Friendly and helpful staff on the front desk and in the restaurant. Nicely out of the centre of the town but only 10 mins walk in. Cooked breakfast was a little disappointing but still good value. Clean tidy room with all you could need. Thoroughly enjoyed stay here.

I used this hotel because of close proximity to Te Papa Museum. I found personnel very helpful. Each day presented with a card for free dinner! I ordered a steak with extras which was not an unreasonable cost. It was excellent and cooked to perfection by a young chef. Plenty of places around if a full breakfast is required.
So happy with my stay.

Check in was seamless. Room has a fridge, cooktop and sink. Great if staying in town a few nights. Handy to good restaurants and the centre of town. My only criticism of the hotel is you can heard the person walking about in the room above you in heels. Maybe I was unlucky, but it seemed very loud at 6:00am while trying to get some precious extra minutes of sleep. All in all, good value, very clean, nicely appointed. Would stay again.

The Bolton Hotel is a lovely hotel with friendly staff.
Restaurant/room service was divine, only issue is that all rooms should have block out blinds - our TV was pretty much useless for the early evening until the sun set, but it is a perfect place for a romantic getaway or with family.
