maintenance problems
-
bumbula
- Oct 24, 2012
It seems that the different departments in the hotel do not communicate with each other.
The first night we had a problem with the shower and asked for an extra pillow. The shower was repaired but it took them 3 days to get the extra pillow. The shower broke the second day and we were transfered to another room. This room had a defective safe and the security officer said he would have someone look at it the next day.He also said he would write a report about what he found to be wrong.Needless to say, the maintenance person had no idea what was wrong with it and took it to be repaired. When it was returned and we had stored our belongings,we couldn't open it and had to call security again. This nsame room had a broken shampoo dispenser and when we mentioned it to the maid, she said she filled it and left the bottle on the rim of the tub.No one came to fix it.
The third room was better but we had to constantly call reception for them to leave the complimentar coffee in the room.
Other than these setbacks, the stay was enjoyable.
The beach area was great and the personel was very friendly.

Hotel, staff, and food were all good and typical of Mexico all inclusive resorts of this rating.
Reservations were required for restaurants other than the buffet. Reservations were hard to get and restaurants usually had 5 - 10 tables filled when we went to them. There seems to be a need for improvements to staffing and booking to make this area better. Food and service at restaurants however was excellent. Just the booking availability is my complaint. Not a big issue but an area for improvement.
Kids club was fantastic. Our 4 yr old daughter loved it.
Beach and pool are pretty nice at this location.

Great Anniversary Getaway

The wife and I just returned from celebrating our 5th anniversary at Royal Hideaway. Our first stay here was for our honeymoon; it was everything we remembered and more.
The staff is amazing! Our concierge, Aileen, helped us with several requests. She was wonderful. The waiters at the pool are always coming by to take your order. You are never in need of anything.
The food is outstanding. We enjoyed all of the restaurants. We went fishing one day and The Grill was more than willing to cook up some of our catch. You will not get better at an all-inclusive anywhere.
Last but certainly not least, the pool and beach are wonderful. The beach has been restored/recovered since we were down in 2007; it is truly beautiful.

Good but not Great

My wife and I really enjoyed this place for our honeymoon. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. We enjoyed there not being as many people as some of the bigger places. The food was ok but not great. I would have sent somethings back if I ordered them at a fancy restaurant. The beach was awful. It was very narrow and had lots of rocks in the ocean. Also, I noticed several small things that didn't work properly, such as a leaky faucet knob. Overall I would gladly return for another week.

Perfect Honeymoon May 2010
- LadyJustus
- Apr 18, 2012
We stayed at this hotel when it was the palace hotel back in 2010. I am sad to see that the animals are gone - that was probably the best part about this place. The pride in the crocodile handler's eyes when he told us about his time spent with Steve Irwin was priceless. Also, how often do you get to walk by Coatimundis, flamingos, turtles, crocodiles, and monkeys on your way to breakfast? And snorkel with a manatee in your private lagoon?
Sad to hear it's changed hands. It doesn't surprise me though, with the way the resort was divided up after the hurricane. I always thought the "other half" looked like a setting for a horror flick. Still, it was a nearly perfect honeymoon. Watch out for mosquitoes in the rainy season.

we enjoyed our stay: room is nice, beach is gorgeous. only negative part was a restaurant, but was easily solved by going to lots of good restaurants around. Very end of Hotel zone, parking in the site, electricity 24/7 as well as hot water, and electric plugs in the room. Be prepaired for bad quality of water in Tulum! Also, it gets chilly at night, and could be windy afternoon. All the rooms are nice. It is paradise and you will enjoy it!

First of all, the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and kind - at our beck and call.
The rooms were very rustic but immaculate. There is no AC and during the day they can be warm but at night there is a cool ocean breeze which made the temp perfect. There are fans in the rooms (and lights and electricity by the way) but we never used ours. The rooms, being rustic were very open and airy and there were plenty of cracks for ants and even the occasional cockroach to crawl in. I hate bugs with a passion and become paralyzed at the sight of them; however, the room and location was so beautiful, I overlooked it and you should too!
The food is great and they will even bring you drinks and breakfast to your room or the beach.
There is wifi in the restaurant and reception. We were also able to occasionally get it in our rooms and on the beach.
It is easy to find - we rented a car and there was plenty of parking.
Our beach was the cleanest of all the resorts around - not that your could tell there even were other resorts!
This hotel is perfect for a honeymoon but also for those who just want to get away and also there were lots of families. Probably one of the most amazing places I've stayed!

Great getaway for us on our way further south. First time to try a resort and all-inclusive. We loved it! Small and that is what we liked the best, not one of the Mega ones that you have to catch a cart to get from point A to point B. We are not that young anymore and it was perfect for us. My hubby really enjoyed all the beer dispensers everywhere! Food was not great, but a good selection. Beach bar at end had the best french fries, burgers etc. Would stay there again.

We just returned from 9 days at the Hotel Hacienda Morelos. The beach was lovely. The room was very clean, and the staff was friendly. Beds were firm, not pillow top, but were fine for us. Don't expect a 4 or 5 star resort and you'll be happy. It's an older hotel, but it's clean and comfortable. Quiet town, within walking distance of many restaurants. If you want to party go someplace else, as the town seemed to wind down by 9:30. I think the hotel is going to start having coffee available in the morning, but when we were there, we made the 2 block trek to Oxxo for our morning jump start. Pool was nice. If you dive (we don't) there is a dive shop on premises. For 20 years we've vacationed in this part of Mexico, but this was our first time in Puerto Morelos. If you want a laid-back, quiet beach vacation I recommend Hacienda Morelos! We definitely will be returning!

Five kilometers to the north are the Tulum Ruins and to the south are forty-five kilometers of beach most of which is within the Sian Kaan Reserve. The hotel sits on a cove with a rock bluff giving the beach one of the rare westward views of sunset over the jungle. Like a swimming pool when the water is calm the cove is surrounded by rock and vegetation which make for good snorkeling. Fifty meters off-shore is a shipwreck where the fish tend to gather. This place is right in the heart of the Tulum beach cool area. Lots of hotels getting a lot more $$ for a lot less room. My room could easily have slept a family of 4 and I think I paid $89, single, and booked just the day before.
This is not a resort/spa. Just a nice, spacious clean room across the street from the beach. Zamas has other rooms on the beach side but they are smaller, funkier, close to the restaurant and the ones in the beach-side garden are behind the kitchen, noisy and you get the kitchen smells which are not always pleasant.
I've been to Tulum several times and I'll probably stay here again and ask for the same room.

A natural, basic stay in a cabana
- Arnie
- Feb 9, 2011
My wife, our daughter and her Mexican friend, and myself stayed a few days in two cabanas at the end of October 2010. It was a special experience because of the special character of the cabanas. They are decorated with all natural materials, even the tap was a shelf. And not to forget the hammock. And all surrounded by a nice garden with beautiful flowers. The swimming pool was just finished and very nice located between the trees and plants. The owner was very helpful to make you feel comfortable. Breakfast is rather basic. They can make more of it.
Green Tulum is located just outside Tulum nearby the main road. Tulum is a very nice village, a lot of little shops and restaurants. When you are there, don't forget to visit restaurant 'El Capitan', with Mexican/Dutch owners. In any case nice to do a 'bakkie'. Green Tulum is a well base to visit the ruins of the Maya town and nearby cenotes.

Staying at Maison Tulum
-
momsadoc
- Feb 9, 2011
Room was large and comfortable with small sitting area, TV, air conditioner, 2 ceiling fans (only 1 worked), attractive. No hair dryer, no bottled water in the room. Adjacent street had more than expected noise, especially trucks, but quieted down at night. Continental breakfast served was minimalist - coffee and a croissant and roll with butter and jam, no fruit or juice. The dining area was transformed into a fine evening dining experience with Mayan-fusion cuisine and very attentive service.

Many light bulbs do not work (bathroom as well as bedroom). One of the two fans in bedroom does not work. All discrepancies reported to management; changes promised on first night, nothing was corrected! Web site misleading as it implies there is a continental breakfast included in cost for room; that''s not the case! There is a restaurant on site, however there are no freebees! Close and very convenient to many restaurants.two blocks away on main highway through town.

We had an incredible vacation at the Be Tulum! The hotel is perfection and the rooms are lovely. We stayed in a jungle suite with a wonderful outdoor shower, indoor jacuzzi and a beautiful balcony. The breakfast that is included is delicious. The beach is the best part -- very comfortable cabanas, pillows and lounges on a spectacular beach! Wonderful restaurants down the road. I'd recommend renting a car to get around.
Enjoy it! We'll be back soon!

Hotel's restaurant-bar is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Zahra has wireless internet access in the restaurant, and at the internet cafe. We had A Great time!

I don't normally write reviews, actually this might be my first, but I wanted to point some things out for the next couple. We read a lot of reviews which were mostly bad and terrifying, but my boyfriend and I wanted to go to Mexico for a week and we had a small budget, so we kept our reservation with this hotel, despite the reviews. We had one of the rooms facing the ocean and the sound of the waves in the morning and night was amazing. After opening the door we were 20 steps away from the ocean (shared with 2 other hotels) We were happy because we paid less than the other hotels but still had access to their stronger Wifi, and their better breakfast options, and their nicer hammocks and beach furniture. This place doesn't deserve the bad reviews people wrote. If you're going for a cheaper hotel, you get cheaper quality, (like sheets and towels with stains, but we also realized that the terracotta floors left a orange rusty powder on your feet, and that's most likely where all the stains on the white sheets came from. The bathwater is salt-water....I mean we got used to it, but made us feel more like we were on our own island with just the basics. Everyday we rented a bike and went to Mezzanine, and BeTulum Hotel, so because we saved on the hotel room (which we were only in when we slept at night, we were able to spend our money on eating and drinking and hanging out at the amazing other places.....so basically...don't spend all your money on your hotel room....you'll just sleep there! Anyone can go to the other hotels with the nicer ammenities, as long as you buy something you're a customer there too and entitled to use their pool, hang on the beach, etc.

Might as well be camping
-
cabinboymary
- Sep 10, 2012
Had high hopes for these cabanas. I booked one of the nicer cabanas on the property. View was spectacular, but the cabana was disgusting and dirty. Bathroom was filthy. If you like camping, this is for you. It's literally half a step above camping. I was expecting rustic, but this was something else entirely. If you want to stay on the beach but don't like being filthy, sandy, wind-blown, and a host to all sorts of insects and outdoor species...then I recommend staying some where else. Also, a word of advice: do NOT consider staying in ANY cabana in this area during summer months. It was unbearably hot. Ocean breeze did NOT help. Most properties on the beach were empty, all the tourists were staying in places with A/C. We left after only 1 night and moved into a hotel in the city with A/C. I'm from Atlanta Georgia, I'm no stranger to humidity and heat...the fact that we had to leave after only 1 night is saying a lot! There is a reason the beach hotels are empty. It's unbearably hot! This place was pretty gross and a complete waste of money. The view was the only good thing about it. It didn't even have direct beach access, as it was located on a cliff. Two thumbs down.

Mais à notre arrivée ,il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude et les toilettes étaient sales (!!) ;une précision , tous les hotels ou presque , de cettezone ont un mélange eau douce / eau salée pour la salle de bain; le gérant de l'hotel est très sympathique mais visiblement son équipe n'a pas encore à coeur le bien-être des clients.. si bien que nous avons dû nous passer d'eau chaude tout le séjour et récurer nous-mêmes les toilettes !Pour le prix indiqué sur le site , c'est beaucoup trop cher , mais avec une bonne promotion ,c'est un hotel intéressant;

5 couples of family and friends met at the Grand Palladium Katenah during the first week of December for some much needed R and R.
The very expansive grounds were lovely, staff was helpful, we loved the ability to just walk up to an ala carte restaurant for our evening meal. Carlos at the secret bar was a gem. The segway tour of the resort is a blast and well worth the extra price.

We had a great and enjoyable time again at the G.P. Kantenah from Oct 21 to Nov. 2, 2012. We have visited the Riviera Maya area for our vacation every year since 2005 and 2 years in a row to stay G.P. Kantenah. We used to stay G.B.P. Coba but their quality of guest services are declining very fast that we changed our destination hotel from G.B.P. Hotel to G.Palladium Hotel.
This G.P. Kantenah/Colonial hotels were great place to stay for relaxing vacation. Unlimited a la carte restaurants without reservation are one of the great features of this resort. We could use any of the 9 restaurants and facilities in these 4 hotels in one complex. Long beautiful white sand beach with plenty of beach chairs which are always available at the beach/pools. We didn’t need to wake up early in the morning to get beach chairs.
Regrettably, this hotel has the professional but unfriendly front desk clerks working at the check-in/out desk. We rarely saw their smiles on their faces. I don’t think the guests won’t bite you!

Stunning views from the room. Beautiful white sand beach with beachside service. Room was impeccably clean - I recommend the rooms on the top floor as they appear to be updated more than the "garden view" suites. We got a deal through [...]; I definitely wouldn't pay the full price.Breakfast is pretty bland and standard free breakfast fare. Happy hour from 4-7 but the place next door (with the beds on the beach) has all day happy hour! How can you not like that???

Delayed honeymoon!

This hotel would have gotten a higher rating if the beds were more comfortable. I like a firm bed but these were pretty hard and when all you want to do is relax and get caught up on sleep, an uncomfortable mattress is a real bummer. The other thing that could use improvement is their continental breakfast. Every morning we were given a carafe of hot water, tea and coffee packets, packaged muffins and cookies. I appreciated the coffee but had to find my own breakfast each morning. But overall, the hotel was great. The staff was nice. We had the best room in the place. The balcony faced the ocean and had a hammock and futon so my husband and I could read and nap outside. Bonus: we took a tour with an employee of the hotel's restaurant. Ignacio took us snorkling in 2 cenotes. It was fantastic!

The resort had great amenities however the staff was unattentive and not very helpful. Our dinner reservations were incorrect each time. We had room service but the phone stopped working the second day there and wasn't fixed until last day of stay. On the last night we returned to our room to find the A/C leaking water all over our personal items. Staff assistance was not very responsive or polite. Wouldn't recommend staying here.

The overall beach was nice of course, but we got sick of the food really quick.
**There is no internet available in rooms** nor is there any wifi. you have to purchas everything!

Very pretty resort. Buffet and A la Carte restaurants - food was Good - plenty of choices. Service was just average. Pools are very nice, but were too cold to truly enjoy - only went into pool to cool off for a minute or two. Beach is beautiful, but a lot of rocks in the sand, be careful where you walk - in and out of the water.

Our stay at Dreams Tulum was very nice.
The staff were excellent, they always made sure that you had whatever you needed, answered any questions and where very friendly. The explorer's club for the kids was awesome, they take excellent care of them and keep the entertained all day. The resort very clean and well maintained. The restaurants were pretty good, with no reservations needed which is nice because even on vacation things come up. The buffet was a little lacking in overall selection though, would have liked to have seen more local dishes and more variety day to day. Our room was great, a junior suite, it looked as though it had been recently updated, some of our friends rooms had not and there was renovations going on while we were there so maybe double check what you are getting. Our friends wedding was great, they got some excellent pictures and everything was taken care of by the staff.
The beach was very well maintained and had plenty of seating everyday, there is a relatively small swimming area due to the coral in the water but it was never crowded.
One thing that was a little miss leading was the WiFi, although available in the rooms there was an extra charge. As well we had better reception outside then in, which was great because we were able to Skype the entire wedding from our IPad to family in Newfounland that were unable to make it down.
Overall we had a very nice stay, this is our second time we have stayed at a resort in the Dreams family and would recommend that you check them out.

After arriving later than planned due to a flight delay the glass of champagne provided on arrival was very welcome and the check in staff were friendly. it was too late to venture out to one of the restaurants but room service was adequate and arrived very quickly.
The ocean view junior suite was well placed for all of the amenities although perhaps a bit too close to the beach disco which went on until 1am every night. It didnt bother us much but it you want a quieter room probably best to go for one of the garden view rooms further away from the beach.
Cant fault the restaurants, we tried all of them and only had to wait once and that was only for 5 mins. Drinks are all top brand and the house wine is good quality.
Entertainment team are very good and you can take part in as much or as little as you want without any hassle.
The bar and restaurant staff are all very friendly, we even had impromptu Spanish lessons from the waiter in the seaside grill one evening.
A trip to Tulum ruins is a nice way to spend a couple of hours, we paid for our own guide who was with us for an hour and made the trip more interesting.
The only negative point was the check out staff, who were more interested in talking to each other than us and just left our credit card receipt on the desk and walked away. There was no thank you for staying with us or have a safe trip. They also failed to give us our check out ticket which you need to hand over when leaving the hotel, which was a bit of a pain.
This was a better quality hotel than a previous one we stayed in nearer to Cancun. We would go back again to Tulum and recommend it to others.

Staff was great, better than most. Beach was great, Lots of shade and lounge chairs. Sandy beach. Room was great. Buffets were a bit skimpy on meat selection only at supper time but good for breaky and lunch. Snack bar at Beach was good. . Layout was great. Excelent place for familys. No Wi Fi in rooms and I was not told that rooms were wired for internet but have since been told so. Cant verify that. Found it hard to book Specialty meals. heard it was because not enough tourists to open all places every night. I would recomend this place thou. We were there for a wedding and lots of friends and family. Kid friendly for sure.

I was totally surprised with this resort after seeing so many negative reviews. the location is perfect. The rooms were very clean, the staff was great. The only thing I can say I wish was better was the buffet food. if you can put up with that then you'll have a great time. We were a large group there for a wedding and i'm still wishing we were back in the pool sipping on daiquiris.
