Great place for a family vacation

I absolutely loved the place where we stayed. It was at the white sand hotel, and the grand palladium location is pretty much close to everything. Lots of activities around, and the staff were very friendly. The buffets were okay, but a little disappointing after a while.

We just returned from a GREAT week celebrating some 30th birthdays! The Grand Palladium was absolutely gorgeous with fun always available. The staff was friendly and the entertainment left us in stitches MANY times a day. We are already talking about the next time we go, and we haven't been home for 24 hours yet! We loved being in the Riviera Maya, and would choose it over Cancun any day.

Beautiful resort, to bad the pools were too cold.

This resort is amazing, beautiful setting, amazing rooms and some of the best food and service I have ever received. The swim up rooms are wonderful, to bad the water was way too cold to swim. So much sun, I'm sure they could have used a solar panel or two. Don't miss this resort, it's breathtaking.

"right sized" resort, great location

We were there from 2/20-2/26. The resort is the perfect size - not so small that you don't have enough food choices, not so big that you're overwhelmed with people and the sheer size of the place. It has a small hotel vibe with big hotel services.
The staff is super friendly (tip them for every meal and drink - most people don't but they really appreciate it). We have stayed there twice and both times received excellent service, despite them having to cut back on staff and reduce their pay to weather the recession.
The rooms are quite nice, setup like townhomes with exterior entrances and they all face the ocean - which you can't really because of all the palm trees, but if the waves are up you can hear them from your room, which is nice.
If you like to snorkel, their beach is great for that but unfortunately on this trip, it was rather windy night and day, so the visibility was poor and the surfline wasn't confined to the reef - white caps and choppy water every day ruled out most water sports. Fortunately, Xel-Ha Park is a short trip away and they are in a protected inlet which has superb snorkeling. The hotel is within 15-30 minutes from virtually everything - Tulum, Playa Del Carmen, Xel-Ha, Akumel Bay etc. so it's the perfect locale for exploring the best parts of Riviera Maya. Recommend a rental car so you can move about on your schedule. Taxi's are expensive so it's well worth paying just a bit more for your own car.
The food is mostly all quite good - "Gourmet" might be pushing it, but they do a very nice job with most everything except the asian food, IMHO. TIP: if you like tequila, they used to have Don Julio on the bar shelf. Now they stash it so you have to ask. If they actually run out, which happened one day, they do have a 100% Agave tequila on the shelf that isn't too bad. But if you just ask for a margarita you won't get it unless you specify it. Your body will thank you in the morning.
Overall, despite the minor cutbacks since our last visit in 2008, the resort is terrific! We'll be back again, I am sure!

Excellent Resort

This was a fabulous resort very tropical, clean, friendly staff, buffets were overwelming with so many choices, and the gourmet (allow 3 per week) were excellent, entertainment was great show every night .
Only complaint is not enough chairs by the pool have to get up early and save if you want a chair which is unfair there are plenty of chairs on the beach but there are only a few place to swim as very rocky. But overall great place and would god back!!

Wonderful All Inclusive resort

We had an excellent stay at the Gran Bahia. Although we were not right on the beach, we always found a chair on the beach if wanted.
The only down side was a lack of chairs at the pools. People were always searching for them. We were plenty spread out, and more chairs could have easily been accomodated.
That said, the buffet was better than others I have been at. They had many specialty restaurants - we ate at The Gourmet (excellent), Portofino and Pescador - these last two were good - not excellent.
We were treated well everywhere we went and would go back again. The extra foam cushion on the bed was wonderful! Loved the lush - ecology - reserve feel to the resort. Unfortunately we were there too early to see the turtles...

Issues Didn't Stop a Good Time

The resort had great amenities however the staff was unattentive and not very helpful. Our dinner reservations were incorrect each time. We had room service but the phone stopped working the second day there and wasn't fixed until last day of stay. On the last night we returned to our room to find the A/C leaking water all over our personal items. Staff assistance was not very responsive or polite. Wouldn't recommend staying here.

The overall beach was nice of course, but we got sick of the food really quick.
