The Place to Stay!

The location was perfect. I mean perfect!! The view from the roof deck, the nearby shopping, markets, places to eat, good coffee cafes, the main plaza, all these only a very short walk. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The breakfast was so very good. Limited menu but fresh and served daily with baked pastries. There was some road work being done while we were there but the hotel itself was quite inside. The site it really lovely and the rooms done in color themes was just great. My only so not good comment is the beds were a bit hard after a few days and a coffee pot in the rooms would be nice but really no big deal. We would also highly recommend Jaime Armengol Juarez for tours and driving around the area. He did a super job for us and we felt very safe with him. He even drove us to the ocean ( 6 hours away )and picked us up after our stay there. When we returned to this hotel they were waiting and ready for us. We had an early morning flight out and once again they were ready for us with coffee brought to our room and someone there to help with our bags. We would stay here again!!!

Our 2nd Stay at Hotel Victoria in Oaxaca

We've stayed there before and liked it. The maids forgot to give us enough towels for the guests in the room, 3 days in a row.
Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. It is an older hotel and there are a number of items that could be repaired, screws tightened, etc, but we enjoyed it much. We would go back.

everyone was very courteous, the food was quite good, and the room was lovely. i would stay there again, though i was a little dismayed by how spread out the "campus" is-- i do prefer a building that's a single unit as the chateau style units make it hard to move around if you're someone who has trouble walking or anything like that. also it is quite far from the center although their shuttle service was totally reliable. the broken equipment in the room was fixed right away but still it was annoying having to deal with that at all.

The hotel is more than ok. Its location that some reviewers write about was not an issue for us, a five minute stroll thru beautiful old town oaxaca past stunning architecture being hardly an issue. The food was below average, but then most hotel food in any country is expected to be below good local restraunt standard. For us a it was the interim step between first arriving in a new city and staying at the most expensive hotels and having the confidence and knowledge of finding a short term apartment. Fair value for money compared to other more known , expensive hotels in the old town.

We were on a driving trip through Mexico and chose this hotel because it was easy to get to. The downside was that the street was quite busy and some of the street noise found itself into our room. The WiFi was great and we had a coffee maker in the room, but they ran out of coffee packets. The service was gracious and the parking lot across the street was convenient though getting in and out of it presented a challenge as it is an old building with a narrow gate. Most of the inconveniences of the hotel were due to their need to preserve the old architecture, thus retaining it's charm.

Quiet hotel. Excellent room. Very good meals. Very attentive and dedicated staff. A free shuttle brings you downtown and gets you back every hour. We could book tours from the hotel. A wonderful experience and a very affordable stay in Oaxaca!

Hotel Casantica, Luxury Hotel housed in 16th Century exconvent in Oaxaca's City Center. Hotel Casantica has 2 Buildings: The first one was the Convent itself and the second one was built around 1950, during the time of Hotel Pombo. The building of the Convent has two patios: in the inner patio, which is bordered on the south face by a stone wall, is located the heated pool with a waterfall that pours out from a very old gargoyle. The main Patio's floor is made from stone and built like an open fan, with a fountain on its northeast side. Also located here is the Arco de San Miguel cafeteria, in which you can enjoy a fine glass of wine, a coffee or taste the delicious food that the restaurant has to offer. The Convent's chapel is now the Restaurant of the Hotel with Mexican and Mediterranean specialties and the main attraction is the original arch, which was rescued in its original form, and the antique San Miguel Archangel painting that occupies the center of the Arch. The two buildings of the Hotel are connected with a terrace on the 2nd floor and a small tunnel on the first. The terrace that connects the two buildings is the perfect place to enjoy the sun, while it contemplates the beautiful original and antique stone wall that surrounds the pool. On the third floor of the inner building you have the most incredible and astonishing view of the Church's dome, be sure to see it at night when the beauty of this image is greatest. Reception facilities is available with the hotel.

The hotel Gala is well maintained and is very clean. The staff is very nice and will answer any questions you have. My wife was concerned since the hotel only has ceiling fans, no air conditioning, but with temps of 87/55 the nights are cool and the days are very comfortable. The hotel is located approximately 30' from the Zocalo (town square) where all the action is. The nights can be noisy, but worth it you get the first look at what celebrations will occur, so you can jump and attend the event. The hotel also has dining options with one of the restaurants in thr Zocalo.

1st time to Oaxaca

The hotel staff were great. They provided us with a play pen that served as a crib. Their tours were pretty awesome. We did have a small issue when we arrived that they could not find our reservation but by the time we came back after having breakfast, it was taken care of. Although check in time was 3 pm, because we had a red eye, they were able to accomodate us into our room by 9am without an extra charge. The center of town is about 10-15 minutes away but because the hotel is in a residential area, it was very quiet and relaxing. Taxis arrived within 10 minutes of being called and the fare to downtown is not bad. We were very glad that we included breakfast in our reservation because that allowed us to eat good food prior to going on tours. The food at the hotel was very good. Especially the breakfast buffet they have on Sundays and holidays. The prices are reasonable. one other hiccup we had was laundry done at the hotel. They actually sent the clothes out and two articles of clothing were returned unwashed. When we explained to the reception desk, they discounted that without an issue.

Far far from downtown

The hotel is not within walking distance to downtown (or everything else) in Oaxaca. And even though they claim to have a hotel shuttle to downtown it runs only 2 or 3 times a day. The smell of drainage is terrible, terrible pretty much all afternoon and evening. Our room wasn't very clean, walls were stained and dirty. I found the availability of towels cheap. I had to ask for them and they actually gave u one per person.I wouldn't recommend it to any tourist.

The Fiesta Inn of Oaxaca is very well run business hotel. They have the conference center and rooms in their hotel and a wonderful business center. Having said that, Fiesta Inn is also a very family friendly hotel. They have large, clean rooms, a huge pool, gardens, kid friendly game area, and a well run restaurant. Our stay was completely positive and relaxing. There were many families staying at the hotel, and two different small conferences being held, we never felt like we were ever bothered. The staff at Fiesta Inn were so supportive, helpful, and always courteous. Our only down point, is that it is located about 10 minutes from the Zocalo. The hotel does provide a shuttle bus several times a day and there was always a taxi waiting. We would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Unexpectedly Great Hotel

Oaxaca is a fascinating, beautiful, and safe destination. Despite good reviews on line, I confess I had low expectations of this hotel, having stayed in some mediocre Holiday Inn Express properties in the US. However, the hotel was extremely comfortable, with a large room, great view, very comfortable bed, and an exceptionally well-organized and efficient manager and staff. Breakfasts (included in price) were fabulous. Both the manager and the staff went way out of their way on several occasions to help us. Neighborhood is extremely quiet and residential, with easy access (1-2 blocks) to small stores, an ATM, and an internet cafe. Fabulous tourist attractions, shopping, and 5-star restaurants like La Olla are only 5-6 blocks away. We also were extremely happy with the tour agency housed in the lobby, which offers amazingly cheap but very good group tours to Monte Alban and other attractions as well as private tours with car and guide/driver for about $10 US an hour. Only improvement we can think of would be small refrigerators in rooms. Overall, a terrific experience and a real bargain.

Privileged location, 20 minutes from the airport. In the historical downtown area, only a half block from the Central Alameda. The beautiful colonial-style building has three floors with 23 rooms, including four suites.
Located on one of the main avenues in the city, the facade have a grand entry door of carved cedar, opening to a lovely porch with a statue of St. Michael the Archangel. A wrought iron gate opens to the hotel vestibule, where walls of ochre, terra-cotta, beige and cream combine with dark green ironwork and green granite columns to provide a dramatic backdrop for the brilliant bougainvillea and geraniums that thrive in the home's central patio. From here you can catch a hint of the spellbinding flavors of the Oaxacan kitchen.
In "La Cocina" you can choose a magical dish to your specifications. Small gardens lead to the first level rooms. A majestic green granite stairway crowned with glorious stained glass leads to the second and third levels. On the second level terrace, you could relax or sunbathe accompanied by canaries in a kaleidoscope of multicolored flowers. The hotel also offers amenity such as Reception.

Great stay at Oaxaca's Parador San Migue

We very much enjoyed our four days in Oaxaca and Parador San Miguel was a big part of that experience. This small, beautiful hotel has a great location--two blocks from the Zocalo.
Our room was large and quiet. The air conditioner worked very well.
The hotel staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. The hotel restaurant was excellent.

部屋もバスルームも広くて清潔です。中庭は噴水や植木で飾られ、メキシコらしいスペイン建築を楽しめます。年配の人も落ち着けると思います。
屋上にも上がってくつろいだり町を眺める事が出来ます。
英語スタッフはいますが日本語スタッフはいません。

Great food, great vibe

First of all, I was very impressed with the huge variety of vegetarian food here. It was awesome to find a vegetarian place in mexico. We ate there several times and were not tired of it and they also had great buffets for breakfast and Sunday lunch.
The grounds were very nice, it felt very green and they had a lot of facilities such as pool and spa and sauna, massage and acupuncture. We did yoga too!
The room was pretty nice and comfortable, and no major complaints except the shower area leaked.

The building has been recently remodeled in order to create a new concept in the hospitality service. Decorated in a minimalist fashion, our hotel welcomes you with wide open spaces and large bedrooms. The walls are exquisitely decorated with orchid and plant paintings, which subtly create a warm, comfortable and gracious environment where you may rest and relax. Hotel has 16 beautiful rooms.
