What an experience

  • SD JCGs

My wife and I booked it for our first anniversary, not realizing it coincided with their Carnivale celebration. Olas Altas was abuzz with events and attractions and the main road along the beach was closed off with stages set up for live music. We were just outside of that so we escaped all the madness but were a few steps away when we wanted it. The hotel staff was great, especially the owners, who seem to take pride in making your stay a personal experience. Our room was huge, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was enormous and the jacuzzi tub was very appreciated by my wife and I. They helped us set up a whale watching tour and a trip out to one of the islands. The crowning moment was the fireworks extravaganza over the bay. The owners set up a viewing party on the roof and our view had to be the best around. It was the best fireworks show we've ever seen. In the midst of the big crowd, the owner took the time to talk to us and get our opinions of the event. We'll definitely stay there again if we return to Mazatlan!

Angels and Elegance

The Casa Lucila is a beautiful Botique Hotel! Conchita and the staff were gracious and loving!(something like being surrounded by angels). Everything about the hotel is elegant and magical!! We spent most of our time in historic old town! A wonderful place to visit for the warm people, taking in the beauty of the past, historic sights, beautiful stretch of beach and delicious food. The restaurant at the Hotel is a lovely retreat anytime during the day, as is the pool and sitting areas. The food is superb! The Ocean views are breathtaking. We cannot wait to return!

Great location, authentic feel....

  • Room with a view
  • Jan 25, 2012
I really enjoyed my 5-night stay at La Siesta. The room was clean, the courtyard had a unique Mexican feel. Although it does not have fancy amenities, it still had enough for the value: I got free wi-fi that worked in my hotel room; there was a very nice smaller pool just not heated; and the view of the ocean was great. However, the best thing I liked about the hotel is its location close to the old city, restaurants, and stores that were walking distance away. Also, the Puerto Vijelo restaurant a block away had some of the best seafood I tasted!

Quaint Surprize

  • The Nomad
  • Nov 10, 2011
This hotel is a nice surprize indeed. The hotel is a quaint mexican style of hotel. The rooms are big and airy. Your room is kept very clean by the staff but this is a mexican style of hotel. Don't expect everything to be gold plated or top of the line. Everything is ample and this place is comfortable. The location is excellent. You are just across the street from the beach. There are many great restaurants in the immediate area with a few really good plazuela's within walking distance. Entertainment is free if you know where to look. Music and good food can be found at Plazuela Machado, dancing at Plazuela Zaragoza and so on.

Mazatlan Beachfront

  • Manzanillo-Seattle en route
  • May 10, 2011
A clean comfortable hotel, right on the beach (OK, across the street), with very helpful waitstaff. You will need a "pulmonaria" open taxi to get to the gold zone or the theater district, but they are reasonable. Critical for us, they accept pets.
