Colonial and Historic Building, which was built in the 19th century. It is located three blocks away from the Metropolitan Cathedral. Under the management of Mr. Luis Morales Serrano became during several decades as the bullfighters' hotel, which for many people it still is.
This building is identified with a whole period of Guadalajara's history.
The Hotel offers the most modern and updated equipments and facilities combined with a classical colonial ambient and "climate". Everything focused for the comfort and enjoyment of all our distinguished guests, assuring and warranting that it will be a trip and a meeting back with the past of this great place.
It Might be mentioned as a curious aside that there are rumors and legends about tunnels that connect Hotel Morales to the Metropolitan Cathedral (about 1/2 mi. away). The date and reasons by which these underground passages were forgotten and cancelled remain unknown. Likewise, the use they were given is a mystery but their existence does give an enigmatic touch to Hotel Morales.
The Hotel Morales is classified as Artistic Heritage and Architectonical Jewel of the city of Guadalajara. It is also under protection of the INAH (National Anthropology and History Board of Mexico).

Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful City

I booked a night at the Hotel Morales based on the previous reviews and I was impressed beyond what I had expected. The interior courtyard is beautifully appointed in a classical Mexican style that embodies what Guadalajara is all about.
The service was courteous and friendly, the only complaint I have is that the internet in my room wasn't functioning and I called the desk who said they would send someone to fix it and they never arrived. I was able to get what I needed done using the wifi in the lobby, but was disappointed that I was left hanging.
A second issue that dropped this from a 5 is that the bed was not great. It was ok, and I slept well, but I just spent a few nights in a hotel with a spectacular bed and so it was a bit of a downer after falling in love with the ambiance and location of the hotel.
I also tried the restaurant La Chata that was mentioned in some reviews and it is excellent. If you want classic Mexican dishes, pozole is amazing if you haven't tried it, La Chata is possibly the best around.

In a great spot and the price was right. The hotel is a bit worn out but for me this can be over looked because the location is so great. I walked to all of the sights.It was clean and the staff was friendly.

Extremely clean Hotel

I've done a lot of traveling and stayed in many hotels from reasonably priced to rather expensive but this Hotel has to be the cleanest so far. The area at first seemed rather seedy but that was just a first impression. It's an old city. Most of the staff did not speak English but they were able to communicate with us enough to give directions. They were all very friendly.
I think the amenities stated the rooms had a safe , iron and coffee maker but they do not. The room had a large TV and really that was all that was necessary. I would definitely stay there again.

I never would have found this gem of a hotel without ORBITZ. It's downtown and within walking distance of shopping and museums. I ride a motorcycle so secure parking is very important to me. The first floor of the hotel building consists of reception, the small cafe, and a completely, enclosed locked up parking garage. Thats as secure as it gets. The room was clean and spacious. They have a very nice lounge with excellent WIFI, but the WIFI did not stretch into my room. That was the only thing that was not perfect.

The Hotel was build in 2001 and continues with improvements, constantly. Hotel have 22 rooms, free parking lot, valet parking, housekeeping , room service, amenities, night security etc. The hotel has an atmosphere of tranquility, peace and personalized service is one of best features.
The hotel also offers dry cleaning, library, lobby and reception. The hotel is smoke-free.

My stay was a medical vacation,so on my second stay I had my surgery so I wasn't very mobile at all, they had the best room service, when I ordered my food I would let them know to bring my room key ,so they can let themselves in and put they heavy tray in my room. Im so please with the service, I would definetly go back.

The hotel staff were very nice, they have tour information, and the staff to take you to the tours,
including from airport to hotel and return to airport. The restruant is very nice, as many local people eat there. the food is very good. I went on the "Tequila Train Tour", it was a very nice tour and
all the Tequila you can drink, and all you can eat lunch. Wear comfortable shoes. The tour is about 8 hours long, Everyone on the Train had fun. Probably one of the best times i have had recently. I recomend this tour above all, but you must get reservations. All hotel staff worked very hard, and
were very attentive. I was too busy to use the Pool,
or other equipment. I would use this hotel again if i return to guadulajara again.

The hotel was beautiful - a wonderfully restored historic property. John, the host, really went out of his way to share his knowledge of restaurants, sites, etc. to really help us enjoy our first visit to Guadalajara.

Great room service, pretty good deal for the money I paid for, well located, very big room but I think they should include a little fridge, and the carpet in the room wasn't very clean.

Hotel was well situated in the city of Guadalajara and also in a good area of the city. My relatives were able to pick me up from their homes or work in 10 minutes or 20 minutes, depending what part of the day (due to traffic) they came.
I liked the ambience of the Hotel, modern yet not stuffy. I was with my wife and also my two daughters(4&6)and did not feel out of place.
Although I didn't get a chance to use it, the Hotel has a very nice swimming pool and exercise area at the very top.
A very nice Hotel to stay in. When I come back to Guadaljara, I will definitely stay here again.

Nice comfortable rooms and restrooms are nice very new everything was nice except for overcharging on internet and valet parking by force since you cant park the car yourself.

Very nice hotel with great staff

Business trip. Hotel is in a great location especially if you need to be at the Expo Center or WTC. Secure neighborhood. Good food at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast buffet was expensive (US$21)even though the selections were quite ample.
Hotel has a well equipped fitness center. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a great Hotel for his location. The only bad thing was that I asked for a no-smoking room, and I got a room where the previous guess was smoking, thereby, the room was smelly.If you are the type of person that does not spend time in the Hotel and go out, come back for a little while, then go back out, and return to sleep, this is a great Hotel. You get what you pay for: location, location, and location.

Elevator was not functioning properly!
Air-conditioner was leaking water, we told staff but was never fixed! Remote for t.v. didnt work! Really ugly "mold" growing in bathroom! We had three rooms and all rooms had serious "mold" growing! Wi-fi is $8.00usd per day! Terrible experience would not recommend!

This is a good downtown Hotel, the rooms are big and clean. Furniture needs and upgrade other than that the room was good and everything works.
I had requested balcony with a view and I was only able to get one after the manager came out to talk to us.

The architecture is amazing....arches & curves everywhere...many covered by vines and blossoms. 2 large pools graced by huge cages of canaries and love birds. Wondeerful to wake to singing and soft little dove songs. Beautifully furnished with a king size bed heaped with interesting pillows. The decor was splendid with lots of artistic touches. Staff was most friendly & helpful with any wish. Each morning we had a breakfast buffet of fruits...pastries...eggs any way we wished...chilli quilles...etc. The orange juice was fresh squeeezed....life doesn`t get much better!

For the money it is first rate. I did not try the restaurant as I spent most of my time out in the city. Business center open 24 hours, very efficient and not busy. Bring your own paper and you can print all you want for free. Rooms comfortable with the nicest mattresses I've tried in 3 hotels in Guadalajara. The only negative was that the power went out for a short time during one of my stays but I was out the door anyway so it didn't really matter. I've stayed there now on 3 seperate occasions and slept well each time. Close to everything by taxi or even buses that travel right in front of the hotel. A friend of mine stayed at this hotel this last week and was amazed at the accomodations provided for the price.

The hotel was very nice and clean. When it came to the team to eat there was NO good food around to eat, and whatever you would find was super expensive! There is als NOTHING to do around there. The only thing nice around that area was the hotel! The maintenance woman Lupita was very nice and helpfull also very trustworthy! Our airline left all our luggages in another city and she vas very genourous and offer to let us borrow 50 pesos.

Excellent, convenient downtown location. This hotel is definitely focused on the business traveler or travelers who don't plan to spend much time on property. Women traveling alone should feel safe and comfortable. The entire hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and very helpful. Very well maintained and clean with minimum amenities. Restaurant's menu selection and service were above average. Room service menu & hours are limited.

few points:
- I would say that this hotel is more for business travelers than vacation travelers due to it's location near the universities and the business district. You cannot walk to the downtown, however, the cab fare from the hotel to the historic historic center is very affordable, around 50 pesos (about 5 USD). I cannot comment on city bus, did not have a chance to take one.
- the staff is EXTREMELY friendly and useful. I mean it: the lady at the reception works with a tiny laptop she carries around and answer questions re. tourist visit and even print the maps, etc. All courteous, talkative and professional.
- hotel has a small business center with 2 computers which are unlocked and connected to a printer and a scanner
- the restaurant is fine but I can''t say much, I had only breakfast there
- the room was large, with air conditioning, functional and very clean.
- the check out was easy, it took only few minutes (check in as well)
- there are cabs around the area and it's fairly easy and quick to get one.
This hotel is not a luxury hotel, so don't expect a resort "Cancun/Las Vegas style". However, for the value, this is a fantastic hotel and I sincerly can't find anything wrong to say about them. It's practical, clean, friendly and comfortable.

Vista Express Hotesl at Plaza Del Sol

This was my first time staying at the Vista Express Plaza Del Sol and probably my last, until the hotel is remodel. I knew this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel when I made my reservation, but I still expect the floors or carpet to be clean. This hotel has very old brown carpet in the hallways and in the room I stayed. The carpet is dirty with visible stains everywhere. The chair seats also showed satins and one chair seat has a small rip in one corner. Wireless access did not work anytime during my stay. I was told the wireless company was working to resolve the issues, but I was never notified if the issue was resolved.
The dayshift staff was excellent and very helpful and accommodating, allowing me to check in early. The night staff could have done a better job by following up when the wireless access got restored.
Over all, conveniently located, great staff, but will not stay again until the hotel is remodel or I have no other options.

Not bad for the price! Good area and safe for those being there first time there. Have to take cabs everywhere but the buses are easy to take and will take you downtown! The breakfast buffet was awesome!

Hotel is in very good location, bus to travel to small towns around Guadalajara is at walking distance. Also like 5-10mins from downtown. Bad service when checking in, they did not want to give me the room I reserved,[...] Toilet was not working properly. On a good note room was very spacios very nice view to a main street where there was a parade going on. Restaurant is not too good and they take really long to serve eventhough there was barely customers. Overall I would rate it a 3 out of 5. I would not stay in the hotel again, I have stayed in many hotels in Guadalajara, and this one was a disappointment by comparison. Yet it may have just been a bad experience.

So it's only natural that it'd be in line for its first high-design lodging, which comes in the form of Clarum 101, a hotel that does its best to remind us of the days when the phrase "boutique hotel" was virtually a guarantee of exclusivity. With just six rooms and three suites, exclusivity is definitely the word here and the location, in an unmarked building on a leafy avenue, is central and yet discreet as can be. It doesn't take much of a staff to keep a handle on a hotel this small, so expect a personal touch in the service. Art by local Tapatío artists warms up the sleek white minimalist spaces, and the rooftop terrace gets guests out and mingling under the night sky. This was the second Hotel Boutique we stayed in Guadalajara. Clarum 101 is hidden away along a beautifully arbored street. Many taxis do not know where this location is, Please have a map and/or tourist guide with you. GPS on cell phones, and Google Map do not work. The extra driving around will cost more money. The service at Clarum makes you feel like a Rockstar. The breakfast in their little restaurant can be skipped, but the problem is finding a taxi and finding a place to eat. I would stay again.

The staff was amazing. They had umbrellas for us, made recommendations for all our meals, called taxis, took pictures, made whatever we wanted as meals, did our laundry, and ironed our clothes. we had a wedding to go to, they had a someone waiting for us at 4am, to let us in. I wanted to stay the entire time there, and not leave. It's a once in a lifetime chance to stay there. My suggestion, is make it happen, there will not be any regrets.

I checked in for one night and arrived in a group of 12 people at 1:00. Upon returning from a quick lunch before a meeting the lady who checked me in called me over by name to inform me a man had come in to meet with me. She contacted the gentleman and arranged for us to meet. This is just one example of the service provided.
Room was impeccable and had a different but welcome layout from the typical hotel room layout.

Stayed here overnight on a business trip. Everyone was super friendly from the bellboy to the receptionist, to the waiter in the lounge. Smiles all around. The hotel is host to a lot of business people doing their daily lives and a great spot to meet and hang out. I was unable to get a king size bed, because of the occupancy, but they were very accomodating and allowed me a late check-out with no charges attached. The rooms are very modern and spacious, it is def.5 star, the bathroom itself was hugh. And I didn't miss the King size bed, I had 2 brand new twins to choose from. I felt very at home there, even though spanish is not my nantive language, there was always someone from the hotel willing and able to translate into english for me.
Only positive critiscism is that the french fries were terrible!! Lol, they must have been boiled in oiled as opposed to fried.on the other hand, I requested watermelon juice and they didn't have any but made it for me anyways. I will be staying here again.
