We had a wonderful time at the hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect for a short walk to the local market and a slightly longer walk to the main square. The food was delicious and buffet-style, allowing for a lot of variety. The beds were overly firm for my taste, but the showers were great. Wifi worked well in the rooms, as well as in different places around the grounds.

Hotel Cozumel Resort Feedback

  • Denver Neal
  • Oct 15, 2012
As always I think the 3 star rating for this property is understated. The location is great right at the edge of town, their own beach and snorkeling area across the street, good food on the buffet and the largest pool on the island. Their greatest attributes are the friendly and efficient staff and the cleanliness of the hotel. Their only weakness is the overall maintenance on the property could be a bit better, but that does not change my attitude about the property and the staff. I have stayed many times.

This was our 3rd trip to stay on the island and the 2nd stay at Casa Mexicana. We love the hot breakfast, the fact it's in the downtown area (close to everything). The staff is great! The room is great, very large and clean. We have stayedin other hotels, but this one is the one we prefer to stay.

Coming back ot Casa del Mar is like coming home. All the familiar faces and surroundings. I'm a diver and i wish they were closer to the dive sites, my wife is not and wishes they were closer to town. We stayed in a cabana, and while they have a stove, microwave, fridge and coffee pot, what they don't have is pots, pans, plates, cups saucers...... the rooms are clean, grounds emaculate, and the staff very friendly.

It was too wonderful, too great to just put in a few words. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, the staff is very well trained, very polite and courteous. The food at the Veranda (buffet area) is outstanding..! I highly recommend this hotel. We were there from 12/14 - 12/19 and the hotel did not have that much entertainment. There is not much to do at night at San Miguel. Overall, a great experience and great memories. Thanks Park Royal Cozumel

It was obvisiously a slow week while we were there. That made it great for us. There was hardly anyone else there. As usual the service was great. The staff at the hotel is always glad to see us, or so it seems. They have an onsite dive shop there with a great dive master. He his very helpful and knowledgeable about diving. We look forward to staying there next year. I don't expect the 5% discount, we didn't get it last either.

The staff of this hotel go above and beyond to make sure you are having a good time. The desk personnel, waiters and waitresses and housekeepers were all very helpful and accomodating. We received a very reasonably priced upgrade to a suite, which was very comfortable for me, my wife and two children, ages 13 and 10. Air conditioning worked well and the water pressure was more than adequate. Overall a good base of operation for diving, snokeling, beach trips and dinners in town.

Cozumel Palace has the most amazing staff. Upon arrival my group was met with cool, wet face towels, welcome drinks, and a flower for the females. Check-in was very quick and we were promptly shown to our rooms. Throughout our entire stay, the staff was very helpful and always there for anything we needed. The staff was also very knowledgable about things to do and how to schedule them. The food and drinks were always delicious and never ending. One of my favorite things was the beautiful snorkeling right off the edge of the resort. I would highly recommend Cozumel Palace to anyone visiting Cozumel. The Palace also has sister resorts in other locations. I have not stayed at any of the others, but I plan to very soon. You will not be disappointed in the service and staff at Cozumel Palace.

Do you think you would enjoy a massage by the water that leaves you weak in the knees because you are so incredibly relaxed? Then come see them for all this things. The hotel wants you to visit them. Would you like to enjoy the warmth of the sun on your face without a noisy crowd invading the last bit of your personal space? If yes, then Blue Angel Resort wants you! If you are the type of person who enjoys the simple things in life, things like enjoying turquoise water, looking forward to your next, great 2 tank dive or witnessing the miracle that is the Caribbean sunset and laughing at the resident pelicans catching their dinner 20 feet from you, then yes, you are Blue Angels type of person. If you are comfortable with owners, staff and other guests greeting you with a smile in the morning and calling you by your first name, then please, come see the hotel Wants you to stay with them!! The coolest thing about Blue Angel Cozumel is the people that come to visit. Basically...in the fewest words... they get it. Blue Angel is a smaller Cozumel vacation resort. Why is this important? The hotel is like a family. This means that if you are on the hotel dive boat trips as part of one or their dive packages; the same hilarious guys that you dove with this morning might be having a drink in the lobby later on. The friendly people that you spoke to in the restaurant last night may be lounging by the pool today...if you visit them, take a chance and say hello...maybe even start a conversation. You might gain some new friends. high quality people and many of the guests return over and over again to connect again with their Blue Angel family. The people that visit Blue Angel mostly seem to be the type of people that can sit back and just let things happen around them, enjoying every minute of it. Cozumel diving is fantastic and diversified. There are so many different reefs and you don't have to be at a professional, technical diver to enjoy many of them. But if you have been part of the diving community for a while, they challenge you. There is an abundance of marine life in the water park and surrounding areas and protect the love of the "other world". To see the excitement and joy on people's faces when they come back from their dive trips is inspirational. The hotel also provides Dry cleaning, Library, Lobby and Reception services.

Fabulous little gem on the island!

  • RobinLKJ
  • Nov 15, 2011
After several visits to the island, and stays at AI's, we had seen this little place and even stopped in for lunch/drinks and a hotel tour on one occasion. I knew that we had to come back on our next visit. The view can't be beat! And different from other hotels "in town" your view here isn't obscured by a cruise ship, its all sunset and beautiful water! Everything has this view, the rooms, the lobby, the cafe, and the pool. Its close enough to town but far enough out not to be in the middle of things. The cafe is GREAT! We did dinner at a variety of places but breakfast/lunch/snacks/drinks here and all was good. Service was also GREAT! Be sure to try the mango margarita :) Although located on the main road, its surprisingly very quiet at night. Rooms are minimal, but very comfortable. Best beds I've found in Mexico! Mini-fridges in rooms came in handy. The only drawback would be the walk-up to the upper floors. Toting suitcases and dive gear up four flights was rough, but well worth the effort. The waterfront is perfect for shore diving and there are LOTS of fish & corals right there. Its next to the sting ray enclosure so thats fun from below too! Dive shop on site with very nice staff and instructor. The pool, although small, is right on the waterfront and a gathering place for some of the local ex-pats. Every bit as charming as the rest of the place! Owner and all staff members couldn't be any nicer or more accommodating. Once you visit here, you'll feel like family and consider it home away from home.

Loved our stay!

  • Dec 11, 2012
This was our first visit to Cozumel and really enjoyed our stay at Blue Angel!! The purpose of our trip was to dive and found this resort met all of our needs. Check in was a breeze and the staff helpful. On our first night we did a shore dive. There are tanks available for unlimited shore diving. The dive out front of the hotel was minimal but we saw lots of creatures including octopus, puffer fish, eels, rays and lots of fish life. There are lockers available to store your gear rather than lug it down for every dive. Rinse tanks were a huge plus for us as well. All of the dive, masters were great. We dove with Jorge and Matteo. Both were very good pointing out things to see along the way. We really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast which was from the full menu! Yummy! The DM's ask where you want to go and ask what you want to see etc. All of the dive spots were amazing! You get fruit and a muffin during surface intervals. After returning what i love is that the room and a hot shower are only steps away!! We loved our stay and plan to return!

Tranquil Getaway

Playa Azul is a tranquil getaway-we were looking for and found the perfect beautiful setting for a 5 night forget the outside world retreat. We had not been to Mexico in three years and I had forgotten the beauty of the blue, sparkling clear water. I found all of our meals to be very fresh tasting and of great quality-loved the shrimp and fish, plus the ceviche. The rooms need some refreshing but everything was very clean-plenty of towels, nice pressure in the shower. We plan on returning to our newfound getaway.

Playa Azul is a small, locally owned hotel on the north side of the island. My wife and I have stayed here many times. The hotel offers a deal with the local golf course so guests play the course for only the cart fee, currently $30. The course is excellent. It is challenging and filled with wild life. The hotel offers an excellent free breakfast daily. The beach is small, but excellent for the island. Snorkeling is wonderful. The hotel area is far enough away from the cruise ship port to be quieter. The rooms are small and clean. The staff has been at the hotel many years and are professional and friendly.

Ironman Triathlon Cozumel

  • Dec 5, 2012
The service was excellent. The upgrade to deluxe rooms was worth it in the amount of water we drank alone! The rooms were enormous and they kept our fridge well stocked. The breakfasts were a delight. They even made egg white omelettes for us. Fresh fruit and lots of it. Lunch was good. Dinner great as we always ate at the La Veranda restaurant (you make reservations for it) every night. As an all-inclusive in Mexico, we all (6 of us) felt it was an incredible deal. Alcohol is included, just remember to order a double and you will be all set. The price was right! Oh, do bring your own shampoo and conditioner as they missed the mark on that one, but no big deal.

we've stayed here at least five times now. This is the first time I've stayed off season. They don't have the buffet and you order off the menu. some of the people I went with liked this better. I like the buffet because if i don't like something, I can go back and get something else. Rooms are all very large. very clean. Never seen any kind of bugs other than a fly now and then. They will make any kind of drinks. But it's cheap liquor and I'd prefer canned or bottled beer over the draft!

Great location, great beach, great value

  • Lady Lady
  • Dec 5, 2012
We spent almost 9 days at this resort, arrived just 1 day prior to competition, this hotel was not hosting the triathlon competition so it was not very crowded, just a few participants of the event. The weather was good 75 79 degrees with some clouds during that time but the mix of clouds and sunshine was perfect for some hotter days. The hotel is located in front of the best portion of the beach from what we have seen around most of the island, there is sand at the beginning of entering the water and some rocky surface but it was pretty good, we did not need water shoes to enter the water when the rest of the island has majority of rocky water entrances. The most amazing thing is that we were able to snorkel for hours right from the beach, there is a variety of colorful fish, small sting rays and even saw a big eel. Since the hotel is all inclusive snorkeling gear, sail boats are given at no charge for 2 hour intervals, since it was a slow time at the hotel we had a blast taking advantage of available snorkeling gear, learning for the first time how to use the sailboat which was very easy and so much fun and taking out a boat a few times. The beach area is very clean, the staff does a really great job. Overall the staff was great, very friendly and helpful. There are 2 restaurants in hotel, one is the buffet open for breakfast lunch and dinner. The food at that restaurant was good, good variety, good value. The other Italian restaurant is open for dinner only, since it was off season we did not need any reservations, the food was great, we went to dinner there almost every night except one when we opted out for the buffet. The hotel has free gym which comes in handy after all the all-inclusive meals :) the rooms were very clean, the staff came every day, the only thing the beds we had we a little small for 2 people-more of a full size bed rather than the queen size and the beds were a little too firm for our taste but after snorkeling and spending all time at the beach that was not a big deal to us we were pretty tired and still got a good night sleep. The water on this island is pretty turquoise color and very very calm right by that hotel ( in other areas we saw waves and a bit more rough water), because the water was so calm it was awesome for snorkeling and just floating around. We have snorkeled in many places and this was one of the best for sure, we also took a trip on a boat to go out to see great reefs deep in the sea, saw turtles there, a small shark (not the dangerous kind) and some fish but saw much more variety of fish right by our hotel. Overall we really loved this location, definately great value, we are already thinking of coming back to the same hotel pretty soon

Relaxing Hotel Stay

  • Daryl M
  • Mar 13, 2012
This hotel has new ownership and did a great job remodeling and upgrading the place. I like it because it is small (40 rooms) and nice and quiet (no spring break kids partying all night). All rooms are ocean view and they have a small pool. They had a band there a couple of times during my stay. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very clean. We didn't eat dinner there, so I can't comment on the dinner food but the breakfast was good. For the value, I thought this was a very good place to stay.

El Presindente is a fine hotel with a welcoming staff and a great location right on the reefs south of San Miguel, Cozumel. I think that the food is somewhat overpriced for the area. Additionally to eat in town you need to take a 90 peso taxi ride both ways. There is little to do after dark and the room TV's only carry a few US stations. They could use a mariachie or jazz band in the Roma restaurant playing after dinner for entertainment.

Great Resort and Diving!

  • DrDaveMn
  • Nov 25, 2012
3 of us really enjoyed our week at the Iberostar-Cozumel. Very comfortable and good quality rooms with tile floors, walk-in glass shower, comfortable beds, great housekeeping. Excellent quality food and huge selection for every meal. Besides the excellent buffets you could make a reservation at one of 3 other restaurants (Mexican, steak and ?). Made to order omelets, 8+ juice drinks, lots of fruits, meats, veggies deserts, drinks etc. The staff were very attentive and helpful too. The only problem was a slow WiFi internet which was not working a couple days. Beautiful grounds well kept with flamingos, peacocks, parrots, lots of plantings and tree varieties with nice concrete textured curving walking paths to each room . All rooms had a small porch with hammock, table and chair. Only a few rooms with a beach view. The others had nice landscaping to view. Big pool, lots of activities both day and night, and shows to attend. Dressell Divers was excellent too. Very organized, safety centered, most used Nitrox. Helpful and attentive dive masters. Usually about 8 divers to a dive master. Well laid out dive boats with good safe ladders. Only recommendation would be to have them add GPS for dive locations. A couple times it seemed they weren't sure completely. But the resort is very close to the best dive sites at Palancar Reefs so that meant a short boat ride and returning to the dock between dives for a potty break and snacks from the pool restaurant or beach bar. Kayaks, Hobie Cats and windsurfers no charge. Nice safe sand beach. Lots of grass hut cabannas and plenty of beach and pool chairs. A rocky entry from shore so most snorkelers went down the ladder on the pier to a chest deep sand bottom. You can walk on the beach for probably more than a mile, or go out the frontage road for walking or biking. Altogether a fun and relaxing vacation. We've been to Cozumel 14 times and this was the best. We'll definitely be back.

Slow season, but nice getaway

  • tcaNtexas
  • Nov 3, 2012
I booked this resort purposely on a very quiet week (end of Oct) so I have no idea what it is like during the busy season. This place is designed with bungalows instead of a large tower complex (4 rooms per bldg). Some places are like you are in a jungle and some, closer to the pool, are a little more open. The rooms are a little smaller than some we’ve been in at other resorts, but workable for a couple. A second floor near the pool is the best, in my opinion. The grounds are beautiful and the wildlife they have there is nice. The pool is large and has a swim-up bar facing two directions. That’s cool because there is always a shade side. The beach is right next to the pool and that’s nice too. Not much in the way of things to see snorkeling off the beach. A nice touch is that every balcony has its own hammock. A few things I thought were a little lacking: no free internet access, even in the lobby (it is $2 for 15 minutes), their cable TV is all Mexican (I would think they would have satellite to include more English channels - some are English with Spanish subtitles and CNN International and BBC is the only news). I asked the front desk if they showed American football and they said no, but then I found two game being shown on Mexican TV. Many of the guests were either Mexican families or divers from the U.S. Buffets are typical for all-inclusive resorts. Not impressed with breakfast. Lunch and snack bar by the pool are the same location. It is open 10 - 6. There are a lot of mixed salads that are very good. For the kids they have the typical pizza, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, etc. and there are other main dishes to choose from. All in all, not bad. We found the beds very firm - backaches for us, but it's different for everyone.

Beach is very nice and well kept. Lunch was good. Dinner is a bit meh - but hey, if you can book it for cheap enough, you won't mind having meals at Palancar beach or some of the other places nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Great for young kids

  • mw1175
  • Jul 22, 2012
KIDS: I have been to other hotels in Cozumel and Cancun for adult-only trips. We chose the Allegro specifically this time because we heard it was good for younger kids, and we were taking my 8-year-old daughter. She had a fabulous time! The kids' pool was where she spent most of her time (we adults also spent a lot of time playing in that pool just like kids) and the kids' entertainment at night was great for her and other children who were there. There were enough food items in the buffet to suit her "picky" eating style and she never complained. The beach was calm and pretty enough for her to snorkel around there and do some kayaking as well. Definitely good for younger kids - teens may not enjoy the kids' stuff at this hotel so much. ADULTS: The Allegro was also great for us adults who were there traveling with kids, but is definitely more tailored for kids. The pools were ok but could use a new coat of paint, but were clean overall. We spent most of our time on the beach anyway, which was gorgeous. If I had been traveling with adults only, I would have preferred a hotel with a more "hopping" atmosphere for adults (music at the pool, drinks flowing, etc.), but this was a trip for my daughter anyway. The rooms were kept clean and we always got clean towels and bottled water. The food was pretty ok, but is what I expected from an all-inclusive - any time I go all-inclusive, I never expect gourmet food anyway! It was good for those wth a big appetite but who are not too picky about the cuisine! The staff at the hotel was friendly and always willing to help out. The entertainment was good most nights, but I have been to other hotels/all-inclusives in the area with much better adult entertainment. The location of the hotel is far from town so if you plan on going into town a lot, you may want to rent a car or look for a hotel closer to town. However, this hotel was close to the Playa Palancar, which was the most beautiful beach we visited while on the island. Overall, this was a great family vacation, especially for my daughter, and I would recommend it to anyone who is traveling on a little bit of a budget, with kids and who wants the kids entertained, and who doesn't mind the typical nature of all-inclusive hotel food!

Great for diving and snorkeling. No intertainment to speak of. Food is average in the buffet, good in the Mexican restaurant and pretty bad in the Los Olivos. No free Internet like in most others. Otherwise it is a good place to stay and relax.

Excellent for SCUBA

  • VStar0608
  • Dec 21, 2012
This resort has about everything needed for a great week in Mexico. The all-inclusive format assures plenty to eat and drink for your entire stay. The staff is friendly and especially helpful. Likely 85% of the guests are there for the scuba diving. The on site dive shop is fantastic, with the same helpful attitude. Many of the favored dive sites are within a 10 minute boat ride. Leave a little something for housekeeping and they will keep your refrigerator stocked with your chosen beverages. We hope to return again very soon. Cab fare to town is flat $20US and takes about 20 minutes, but there really isn't much need to go up there unless you like high pressure sales people meeting you on the sidewalk. Gift shop has plenty of variety and priced comparable to the shops in town. Family-friendly resort with activities for kids during the day, different entertainment activity each evening.

Loved Our Stay at Suites Colonial

  • bsgro
  • Dec 29, 2011
About my ratings: Amenities 3, because it's a basic no frills place. AC worked well. Location 4, right ont the square. Easy access to restaurants and cabs. Great for our group with people going i different directions. Some might prefer to stay on a beach. Cleanliness 5 Wish my floors at home shined as much! Comfort 4 My ideal room would have more of a lounging area Staff 5 everyone was helpful and frienldly Value 5 can't be beat, especially considering the huge breakfast. We paid $634 pp for a flight from Akron to Cancun and 7 nights hotel. Stayed at Suites Colonial for one week over Christmas with my family of eight (spilt between 4 rooms). It was an ideal budget choice. Easy walking access to shops and restaurants. Walked to breakfast at Casa Mexicana each day and then grabbed acab right outside Casa Mexicana to our beach of choice. About the hotel: rooms were plain, but clean. Mattresses were new. My husband and I stayed in a suite. Bedroom with two beds. Bathroom. Kitchen had fridge, stove top, sink, plates, glasses, silverware and a few pots. Didn't really look cause we only used the fridge. Sitting room had table with four chairs, two seat sofa, and a folding bed. Asked for rooms away from the bar. We were put in 201.Rest of the family was right below us in rooms 104, 105, and 106. Bar noise never bothered us. We brought earplugs, but never used them. Very nice breakfast at Casa Mexicana included. Standards fruit, yogurt, pastry, cereal. Different hot dishes each day, plus cook to order eggs and waffles. Enjoyed access to Wifi. I used it from my room. This was our third trip to Cozumel. Previous trips we've stayed at Suites Bahia and Casa Mexicana. I'd stay at any of them again. A word of caution: the tile hallways, floors, and stairs are very slippery when wet. Pack shoes with good traction.

DO NOT stay here if you're doing the Ironman

Last time I stayed in Cozumel for the Ironman, I stayed at an all inclusive, which was nice, but I tended to stay there and didn't get out and enjoy as much of the local fare as I'd liked, which is why I decided to go with the Suites Colonial this year. The place is adorable. The rooms are very clean and are more than adequate for $48 a night. There is fresh coffee in the lobby every morning and the breakfast provided by their sister hotel is just a quick five minute walk and is very good. There are a few barkers from the shops close by that you have to deal with when you leave/arrive, but you have to deal with that pretty much anywhere in Cozumel, so it's not that big of a deal. My two main complaints: 1) No parking! I rented a scooter and while I could park it in the lobby overnight, I couldn't park there during the day, so I had to park it in a garage two blocks away. Not a huge deal, but something to consider if you're renting a vehicle. 2) The live music from the bar next door on Fri/Sat nights. Yes, the a/c somewhat drowns them out, but you can still hear them and they play until the wee hours of the morning. I normally wouldn't care, but I had to get up at 4am for an Ironman race on Sunday and the band played until 3am Sunday morning, which did NOT make for a good night's rest. My overall opinion? Great place to stay on the cheap if you just want a basic hotel and are easy going. If you like fancy schmancy or are doing the Ironman, go somewhere else.

Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Hotel is not crowded even when all the rooms are rented. We met a lot of fellow scuba divers. This is a great place to hang out with regular folks, not a snob in the bunch.

Loved the gardens and the "pet" iguannas. Staff was attentive and improvements were made in a timely manner. The free filtered water was an added bonus. Close enough to walk to beaches and grocery stores. I had a great time. Very relaxing.

Great Value, Nice first night in Cozumel

  • tptmonkey
  • May 5, 2012
We had a nice "first night" stay in Cozumel on our way to one of the resorts. From this hotel it is easy to explore the rest of the city. We'll be back if the price is as competitive as our last stay!
