Just what I expected. Not a super bargain, but not out of line either. Very convenient to a JR subway line (which means your JR railpass covers it), although if coming in from Tokyo station, you do have to transfer at the second stop to catch a local train (to take you the one more stop). The Japanese breakfast is expensive, but no more so than at all similar hotels.

Unbeateble location for the price!

  • Caboman
  • Jun 30, 2011
Over all, excellent. Price and location can't be better. Staff very helpful and courteous. Very clean. Negative. Internet, they charge me per minute, I use it occasionally and at the end I was charged for over 48 hours. Incident, (nothing to do with the Hotel) be careful if you pre arrange city tours, "Sunrise" is the company I used, the show up the first two days and the last tour, they did not bother to tell me that my tour was canceled. I called and they sais, "sorry it was cancelled cause you were the only one and is not worth it for us!". I did buy on line true VIATOR, make sure is not Sunrise, you may be wasting your day. I also need to see the reimbursement for that tour. Small letters, call to confirm your tour. They did knew about me two days on the roll, why they did not say something on previous tours?

This hotel is convient for travelers from Narita Aiport, you can get a dircect bus. Once at the hotel you can walk to several locations including the Tokyo Tower that is right around the corner. You can easily walk to several train stations or take the free shuttle bus. Taxis are always standing by if you prefer to travel that way. The room was bigger than others I have stayed at in Japan. Ammenities are about the same.

Location was perfect, close to Shinjuku station, but still on the quiet south side (with that said, Tokyo is suprisingly quiet all the time). Note that Google Maps did not get the location right, use the map on the hotel site. The staff at the hotel spoke good english, the rooms were ok in size, always clean, but be sure to book a non-smoking room in berforehand if you want one. We did miss wifi in the room, but the lobby provided free wifi so we were ok. Didn't try the breakfast, but there was a lot of coffeeshops around the block for cheap breakfast. The hotel didn't provide concierge service, but at City Hall, about 5 blocks from the hotel, there's a great, free, observatory on the 45th floor. In the basemant of the same building there's a Turist Information Center that helped us with at trip to Mt. Fuji and Hakone.

Shocking at First

  • Oct 23, 2011
I used to live in Japan for 10 years and went back for a 5-day visit. The moment I saw the room I was so shocked how small the room was! I immediately went back to the concierge for a room upgrade but the rooms were all booked at that time. I forgot how everything is so cramped up in Tokyo so I just stuck with it considering that my husband and I will be out the whole day anyway. There was literally no space for our luggage so we ended up placing our luggage on one of the beds and we slept on a single size bed for 5 days. The only reason I picked this hotel is the location. Very near the station and is very accessible to all the major train lines in Tokyo. Don't choose this hotel if you are on a vacation especially on a honeymoon. My husband and I know our way around in Tokyo and this visit was to run errands and enjoy Tokyo and head back home.

Avoid the unrenovated rooms in the south tower, they are substandard but everything else is good quite rather impersonal. The location near two subway stations and Tokyo Metropolitan Office is a plus. A very good hotel for the price in Tokyo.

I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past few years and I have always found its room prices are fair considering the central location. This time I booked a superior room with double bed, bath/shower and with free Internet. Storage & hanging space are limited so plan to keep items in your suitcase and a drawer safe, Very comfortable size for several days' stay. The hotel is so close to the Tokyo metro and department stores you are not limited to the hotel amenities - this time I was unwell and the outstanding customer service support really saved the day. Highly recommended..

Main train station Shinagawa Station is just 5 min walking distance which can connect you to many destinations, very calm environment good for holiday accomadation, however the service level of front desk personnels are just average perhaps due to language barrier. Never expect free early check-in even though the room is available i.e be prepared to pay extra 50% of the room rate if you arrived "as late as" 10.45am to request for early check-in.

This hotel is one station away from Shinjuku (a major metropolitan hub in Tokyo). There are two smaller subway stops right next to the hotel, the hotel operates a free shuttle to Shinjuku, and there is an underground passageway from Shinjuku to the hotel. Very quiet, peaceful but convenient area to stay. The hotel is a little old but is well maintained. The room was a comfortable size and very clean. All the staff are very helpful.

We booked 2 rooms in this very comfortable & modern hotel for the start of our family's Japan trip. The rooms were small but this is expected in Japan. It was clean and comfortable. The rooms came with buffet breakfast which was great for us. There were free internet in the small but well laid out lobby, good for checking emails. The free coffee in the lobby is way better than those they served during breakfast. The location though is not very convenient as this hotel sits on a hill, so depending on which subway exit you come out from, you either walk uphill or climb some steep stairs. It is not a very long walk, 5-7 mins perhaps but with kids and after a long day of sightseeing... I will stay here again but minus the kids.

We stayed in the annex building and got a different breakfast than the main building which I didn't think was fair. Also, they are not equipped to handle a large number of guests for breakfast and we had to line up. You are not allowed to take breakfast to your room. Only 1 person on their reception staff spoke English well enough to help us, the rest spoek or understood little to no English.

The hotel is at a great location of Shinjuku shopping area. It is located within the dining and shopping areas. The room is very clean and the space is adequete. Only problem we had is that not many people knows the location of this hotel probably because it is relatively new. People at hard time to point it out even when you showed the hotel address. But once you got there, everything become easy.

Me and my boyfriend stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were impressed with most things about this hotel. Nice and quiet, in a very good location close to everything and the rooms were comfortable. Things I think need improving - breakfast needs a bit more of a western touch and the pillows were very hard. Overall I would reccommend this place.

Trip purpose:Disneyland with 2

  • John

Trip purpose:Disneyland with 2 small children. This hotel was excellent for that and also has a large local shopping area Located at the Daiba station of the Yurikamome line (Yamamote line-Shimbashi station, across road to Yurikamome line), Hotel Nikko was one of the nicest luxury hotels we have stayed at, exceeding standards of service compared to most Australian 5* hotels. Staff spoke good English, were extremely attentive. They accepted our baggage a early from takkyubin, organised our JAL baggage service to Haneda. Our premiere room with bkfst and internet were spacious and modern (they accomodated our request for 2 beds), buffet breakfasts were excellent and Good neighbour Disney hotel bus was a bonus but timings were a bit infrequent (for young children). Disney fireworks last 5 mins and are distantly seen from disneysea. Tokyo view was lovely esp with balcony. Recommended for a Disney stay. If you were focused on central tokyo the train change might make it a bit far.

This is a beautiful hotel with a great view over Tokyo Harbour. Our room was gorgeous with great facilities. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Although not in the centre of Tokyo it was only a ten minute train ride away with the staion right opposite the hotel. It is worth noting that if you buy a Japan Rail Pass it does not cover the line the hotel is on. My only negative experience was paying almost $15.00 for one small cup of mediocre coffee in the hotel bar area! I did not make that mistake again and we ate away from the hotel.

Convenient location right next to Shinjuku-sanchome station, and not too far from Shinjuku station. Room was fine, kind of worn/dated, but ok. Good (wired) internet connection in room. Staff was friendly and spoke enough English to make for an easy check in and out. I was in the annex with a room facing the alley/street between the main hotel and the annex and street noise was not a problem. Good location for the price.

I've stayed a number of times and it's always good value. This time I stayed in a room with semi double bed big enough for 2 people. It was also very quiet. This was in the building next to the main hotel entrance. I'd definitely stay here again.

This is a great hotel for friendliness

This is a great hotel for friendliness and service. The room is a good size for tokyo and the room was clean. Location was ok although area a bit iffy. Facilities were ok although all TV is japanese only.No english films on cable either. The Hotel itself is stylish and the staff were excellent. My only BIG criticism is that the bed was horrible. Was very hard and i ended up with a back problem from it. there was no other option so i probaby would no go back for this reason alone. Otherwise everything else was excellent if the bed is not important to you.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The staffs are very helpful, friendly and are of great assistance in giving advice on place to visit and eat. The location of this hotel is great, located at the night entertainment of Kabuchicho "Red Light District" but totally safe. Food around the are generally good. The hotel room is state of the art. A lot of hidden areas (i.e. for the fridge and kettle.). The bathroom is huge and the air conditioning is brilliant. Really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends if the plan to visit Tokyo.
