Great Hotel

  • For Haruko
  • May 15, 2012
Good location. Short walk to/from Suidobashi Station. It's ryokan and western style which is a great combination for me! Very friendly English speaking staff. Took an Ofuro bath in the high-backed bathtub. Water temp was hot, just the way I like it. Stayed 3 nights and loved every minute of it. Experienced both restaurants. A Japanese Kaiseki meal at Yukuri and breakfast and lunch at Grill&Bar LIEU. These meals were priced to what you'd expect from a four or five star restaurant. Brought my laptop so I was able to stay connected to folks back home. Loved the stay and will stay there again.

Great Choice for exploring Tokyo

  • Zedear
  • May 9, 2012
We spent 9 nights here and it was fantastic. The location is great (very close to the Suidobashi Stop, perfect for exploring Tokyo) and Quiet (relaxing after a long day of walking and site seeing). If you are going to the Tokyo Dome for a game it is just around the corner and usually cheaper than the Tokyo Dome Hotel. The rooms are small yes, but there is everything you need and a modern western style bathroom. The staff vas very helpful and friendly and although we did not eat there, the hotel resturants looked like a great place to have dinner/brunch. Overall the Hotel was perfect for our trip of exploring all of tokyo in just 10 days,

  • Catherine

We booked 2 rooms in this very comfortable & modern hotel for the start of our family's Japan trip. The rooms were small but this is expected in Japan. It was clean and comfortable. The rooms came with buffet breakfast which was great for us. There were free internet in the small but well laid out lobby, good for checking emails. The free coffee in the lobby is way better than those they served during breakfast. The location though is not very convenient as this hotel sits on a hill, so depending on which subway exit you come out from, you either walk uphill or climb some steep stairs. It is not a very long walk, 5-7 mins perhaps but with kids and after a long day of sightseeing... I will stay here again but minus the kids.

Lovely Little Hotel, however be prepared the rooms are super small they have the whole Zen thing going on, we had a double room based on 2 sharing. I can not knock this hotel, clean cosy and cute. If you are planning a few nights in erm prob a no no, only 1 english TV channel the rest japaness, you have the option to purchase a card at $10 per day your choice!! Location is amazing, subway right out side the hotel Akasaka line, and a 10 min walk or so into Roppongi. We only stayed 2 nights and to be honest that was enought for us. We are used to bigger rooms being from europe and really from our time here in tokyo/Japan small rooms are the norm this was just a bit smaller then others we had stayed in my husband being 6ft 2 didn't help addmittedly. Did I say this place is Clean clean clean and modern erm I think I did but i would defo recommend for a few nights.

This conveniently placed hotel

  • Charles
  • Jan 10, 2011
This conveniently placed hotel perfectly suited our last night before flying out of Tokyo. With easy access to the Metro and cafes, this neat hotel wows with easy access and incredibly kind and helpful staff. All were polite and helpful, but one young lady stood out in particular. She did everything humanly possible to help us dial international on our mobile, as well as offer printing service for our emails. This hotel has a new coin-operated laundry and drier, free Internet point and wireless, free tea and coffee and a small, but convenient business conference room. The rooms are typically Japanese in size, but clean and quiet. This hotel is a very sound choice!

  • Anonymous

It is a small hotel with about 20 rooms only. It is close to subway (asakusabashi) and JR station. It is not located in the busiest district so the environment is much relaxing and quiet. It takes about 30 minutes to reach Shinjuku and about 10 minutes to Ueno Park. The staff there are nice, English ability OK. Have free internet access in the room. Although the room is small (a bed, a small desk, a pretty big refrigerator, some space for your luggage, no cabinet), but it is clean and nite. There are a lot of dinning / drinking places near to the stations. There are men (dressed in black suits) standing in the street to get customers. This is the only thing I dislike about the environment. However I must emphasize that they never bother us maybe they only target at men (we are ladies and we looked like tourist) and I do think that this type of "salesperson" are common in Japan....so, never mind... In conclusion, I would recommend this hotel.

Positives: - Great location if you travel from/to airports and JR. Airport Limousine Bus will take you to hotel doors. Use free hotel shuttle to get to the nearest JR station. - Room was comfortable enough and very clean. Negatives: - Hotel staff does not speak much English, but will try to help. - Internet is not free. -

5 Day Holiday for two adults

  • Apr 1, 2012
Great location! Subway right outside the property; Tokyo Tower a block away; oldest temple next door; Disney1/2 subway ride; Imperial Palace 20 min. subway ride. Not so good: Restaurants on site, but nothing open until 9AM. Even one that served breakfast pastries, etc. Lawson's Market in hotel open at 7AM though with juice, pastries and sandwiches. Earlier comments by others were regarding "needs redecorating". We didn't find this to be a big deal. And some redecorating was in progress. Rooms were spacious for Japan, comfortable, clean. We'd definitely stay there again.

A Peaceful Retreat in Bustling Tokyo

  • Harrison 49

After a full day of meetings, shopping and sight seeing and the ceaseless hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan area like Tokyo, the Hotel New Otani is a soothing, relaxing and stress-reducing island of calm. The staff are welcoming and eager to assist and make every guest feel like a highly honored visitor. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards, quiet and comfortable and the responsiveness of the housekeeping and room service staff is without compare. Ideally located on the Marunouchi and Ginza subway lines, access to the entire metro area and all major long distance destinations via Tokyo's extensive, clean and efficient transportation network, makes the Hotel New Otani a wonderful place to call home when you're in Tokyo!

In the Heart of Tokyo

  • Global Biz Traveller
  • Mar 30, 2012
I have now been a regular customer of the New Otani in Tokyo, staying there at least twice a year. I choose it primarily for it's location, but also for the value. I've never had a problem at this hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, the rooms clean and practical, and the amenities first-class. In fact there are only two very small negatives I can think of - the work-out room is not very good and the hotel is very sprawling - almost like a small village. But those are very minor issues. On the positive side the very old Japanese garden on the grounds is not to be missed. In addition, the hotel has a wide variety of restaurants for every taste and price range. I stay at many hotels all over the world yet the New Otani is one of the few that feels like home.

Although difficult to find. Japan uses a very difficult address system, even my Japanese friends had trouble finding the hotel. Best to look at the hotel website for the map. Otherwise, this is a business travel hotel, very clean with breakfast provided as well as LAN internet in the rooms. A very friendly and helpful staff. They speak very little English but have manage to understand questions.

  • Jul 5, 2010
I felt that the location was very good. It was within walking distance to Tokyo Tower and Zojoji. There are also several metro/subway lines within walking distance, so visiting different parts of the city will not be a problem. There are many food places to eat at, too. In all, a very central location. The rooms were clean and there were enough amenities, and the staff were nice and helpful.

Perfect Balance of Mind, Body & Spirit

  • Gregory TOKU10
  • Jul 12, 2011
After arriving into the dizzying capital of Japan after a long international flight, I was swept off my feet from the moment the revolving doors ushered me into gorgeous Lobby of the Peninsula Tokyo. For those familiar with the Hong Kong-based Peninsula brand, The Lobby in Tokyo is the crossroads of travel where people meet, dine and relax. You are just steps from both the Ginza and the Imperial Palace. But why leave! The rooms are among the most spacious in all of Japan and the Pool and Spa by ESPA are the ideal sanctuary to find that gentle balance of mind, body and spirit. Once relaxed after my flight I was pleasantly elevated to another state of consciousness when confronted with my dining choices from the Deli in the basement to the Michelin-rated Peter atop the hotel. What truly makes the Peninsula the destination of choice is the world-class staff from the Concierge staff to housekeeping. Extraordinary on all levels.

Very happy with our stay; our room was recently renovated, very chic and quiet, and even had a good view. We borrowed a humidifier which was nice as I find pretty much all hotels too dry. The location was great, close to pretty much everything. The complex next door has lots of good restaurants and even a grocery store on the first floor, very convenient. Parking was a bargain given the location at JPY1,000 per night. In-room dining was very tasty, though portions a bit small. Of special note was the in-room massage service. My wife had a massage first and thought it was so good she booked one for me with the same woman. 45mins, JPY5,500 or so. The masseuse was an elderly Japanese woman named Tanaka-san. I'm not sure where she got her strength, but she was incredibly powerful - as well as skillful. Really loosened up my back and neck. I thought our stay was a bargain, even given the strong yen.

The InterContinential Tokyo Bay was the perfect hotel for my recent week's stay in Tokyo. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The view spectacular!! Room services perfect. The location was great for access to the bay, restaurants and various means of public transportation. I guess the number one feature was the staff. Helpful in every way...a treasure for us because we spoke little Japanese. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip.

The hotel was wonderful; clean, very helpful staff that spoke english, every amenity was available. However the hotel was 1.5km from the subway and much further from down town. The breakfast buffet was $40 per person and wifi was $20 per day.

Nice Place

The Dai-Ichi Annex was very comfortable with a good-sized room and very friendly staff. Also, the location was very convenient, with only a short walk to the Yamanote line. One drawback was the lack of computers for internet access. However, the staff was very accomodating and I was able to use one of their computers in an emergency.
