We booked 2 rooms in this very comfortable & modern hotel for the start of our family's Japan trip.
The rooms were small but this is expected in Japan. It was clean and comfortable.
The rooms came with buffet breakfast which was great for us. There were free internet in the small but well laid out lobby, good for checking emails. The free coffee in the lobby is way better than those they served during breakfast.
The location though is not very convenient as this hotel sits on a hill, so depending on which subway exit you come out from, you either walk uphill or climb some steep stairs. It is not a very long walk, 5-7 mins perhaps but with kids and after a long day of sightseeing...
I will stay here again but minus the kids.

Lovely Little Hotel, however be prepared the rooms are super small they have the whole Zen thing going on, we had a double room based on 2 sharing. I can not knock this hotel, clean cosy and cute. If you are planning a few nights in erm prob a no no, only 1 english TV channel the rest japaness, you have the option to purchase a card at $10 per day your choice!! Location is amazing, subway right out side the hotel Akasaka line, and a 10 min walk or so into Roppongi. We only stayed 2 nights and to be honest that was enought for us. We are used to bigger rooms being from europe and really from our time here in tokyo/Japan small rooms are the norm this was just a bit smaller then others we had stayed in my husband being 6ft 2 didn't help addmittedly. Did I say this place is Clean clean clean and modern erm I think I did but i would defo recommend for a few nights.

After a full day of meetings, shopping and sight seeing and the ceaseless hustle and bustle of a major metropolitan area like Tokyo, the Hotel New Otani is a soothing, relaxing and stress-reducing island of calm. The staff are welcoming and eager to assist and make every guest feel like a highly honored visitor. I have now been a regular customer of the New Otani in Tokyo, staying there at least twice a year. I choose it primarily for it's location, but also for the value. I've never had a problem at this hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, the rooms clean and practical, and the amenities first-class. In fact there are only two very small negatives I can think of - the work-out room is not very good and the hotel is very sprawling - almost like a small village. But those are very minor issues. On the positive side the very old Japanese garden on the grounds is not to be missed. In addition, the hotel has a wide variety of restaurants for every taste and price range. I stay at many hotels all over the world yet the New Otani is one of the few that feels like home.

Very happy with our stay; our room was recently renovated, very chic and quiet, and even had a good view. We borrowed a humidifier which was nice as I find pretty much all hotels too dry. The location was great, close to pretty much everything. The complex next door has lots of good restaurants and even a grocery store on the first floor, very convenient. Parking was a bargain given the location at JPY1,000 per night. In-room dining was very tasty, though portions a bit small. Of special note was the in-room massage service. My wife had a massage first and thought it was so good she booked one for me with the same woman. 45mins, JPY5,500 or so. The masseuse was an elderly Japanese woman named Tanaka-san. I'm not sure where she got her strength, but she was incredibly powerful - as well as skillful. Really loosened up my back and neck. I thought our stay was a bargain, even given the strong yen.

Excellent Economical Hotel in Tokyo

This hotel is directly across the street from Exit No 5 of the Hanzomon Line of the Tokyo Metro, making it very convenient for travelers. The hotel is fully equipped with everything needed for a business or pleasure trip. The room and bathroom were clean and more spacious than some typically smaller Japanese accommodations. The decor is a modern upbeat style. Also, there were a lot of very good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The location of the hotel in relatively quite which is great! After visiting all the busy areas, it is heaven to be able to go back to a quite area for rest, especially travelling with children. Subway is on the doorstep and highly efficient so not a problem to get around. Staff are extremely helpful. Rooms are small (which is expected throughout Japan) and comfortable with all basic amenities. The local beef and rice fast food restaurant up the road is a must, cheap and tastey! I would definately stay in this hotel again.

Small, clean, kind staff

Overall, it was a nice room. A bit small, but that's expected in Tokyo. The bathroom didn't have a ventilation fan, but the shower was large enough. The area around the hotel has things to offer, and is close to the subway. It would have been nice to have some complimentary water as the vending machine on the second floor was out of water the first day I was there. Bed was comfortable and a/c worked well. Staff was friendly and breakfast was good.

Relaxing Retreat in Roppongi
-
SingleTraveler
- Jul 28, 2010
I stayed for one night after a concert at the Billboard Live Midtown location. It was less than a 5 minutes walk and immediately around the corner from all the nightlife in Roppongi. I couldn't have asked for a better spot. The room itself was huuuuge (king bed, extra seating, desk) and clean with no lingering smells. The only gripe I have is that the entrance is up a few stairs and since I was carrying a heavy suitcase, it was rather troublesome. Other than that, this is a great hotel and I'll definitely visit again in the future.

Easy to find Hotel which was marked

Kevin
- Oct 1, 2010
Easy to find Hotel which was marked on all of the major road/ subway maps with only a short walk from Akasaka subway station. Location is brilliant as easy 15min walk to nightspots / shopping in Ropongi plus nice temple at the end of the street for some peace & quiet. Single room / bathroom really small so tall / large people need to get a double! Note bed was seriously hard! Most of the staff understand enough english to get by so had no major trouble. Over-all was cheap and good enough if your not going to be spending alot of time in your hotel room.

Stayed here twice during our Japan

Stayed here twice during our Japan holiday.
My 4 day stay room was good, although the bathroom is not what I was use to. A little on the small side, but being on my own it served it's purpose.
A week later we stayed again, this time for 3 days. This time the room was bigger which made the stay that little better.
I would stay here againif visiting Japan.

A few subway stations to Shibuya
-
Anonymous
- Aug 9, 2011
A few subway stations to Shibuya and Sinjiku. Also Ginza and Asakusa can be reached easily by Ginza-subway line. Roppongi is 15 minutes on foot for a evening walk. Nicely located just between residents area and modern offices. There are many good and reasonable restaurants near by. Perhaps slightly inconveninet for a beginner to reach the hotel. Take a limousine bus from Narita to Akasaka Tokyu Excel or Imperial hotel, from where one can take a taxi for JPY 900.-.
Hotel price includes breakfast for foreign guests, which is great! This is my 4th stay at this hotel and my wife and I can rcommend this hotel for those who really want to enjoy Tokyo down town.

This was my first visit to Tokyo

Deborah

This was my first visit to Tokyo and I was very happy with my stay at this hotel. The service was outstanding - for eg when left to go for a walk and noticed it had started to rain - I turned to go back to my room but reception handed me an umbrella without me even asking. They were always friendly and efficient and handed me my key without me even saying the number! The breakfast was fantastic in a very pleasant room with gentle background music and staff continuously topping up supplies. Most importantly I slept extremely well in a quiet, comfortable and clean room. Thank you very much.
