Final Stop

  • Wonderful Japan
  • May 17, 2012
After two weeks in Japan, this was our final stop. The location was right next to the Shinkansen so we had easy access to Narita. However, we didn't need it as the hotel had a bus which made the luggage transfer easier. This was a good last stop as the facilities were a little older than usual but it was less expensive and, as usual in Japan, we were well cared for.

Very small room at an older Japanese hotel. Staff was wonderful and everyone spoke English. It's a few blocks uphill from the Shinagawa train station, so it was very convenient for us. They also included 20% off meal coupons, which were fantastic for us since we used one on our wedding reception and got a $1,000 discount on it!

In the Heart of Tokyo

  • Global Biz Traveller
  • Mar 30, 2012
I have now been a regular customer of the New Otani in Tokyo, staying there at least twice a year. I choose it primarily for it's location, but also for the value. I've never had a problem at this hotel. The staff are extremely courteous and helpful, the rooms clean and practical, and the amenities first-class. In fact there are only two very small negatives I can think of - the work-out room is not very good and the hotel is very sprawling - almost like a small village. But those are very minor issues. On the positive side the very old Japanese garden on the grounds is not to be missed. In addition, the hotel has a wide variety of restaurants for every taste and price range. I stay at many hotels all over the world yet the New Otani is one of the few that feels like home.

I really liked this hotel and it's location. I received a great deal through this internet travel site and was happy to stay there. The double single room was great and the service was great! The only problem was the Air Conditioning...there was none and the room was uncomfortably warm in the room. The air flow coming out of the vent wasn't cool, it was warm. The staff was very helpful when it came to giving directions to locations. Being able to board the Limo bus here was an added plus.

Agréable séjour à Tokyo

  • Bibou91
  • Aug 22, 2012

Main train station Shinagawa Station is just 5 min walking distance which can connect you to many destinations, very calm environment good for holiday accomadation, however the service level of front desk personnels are just average perhaps due to language barrier. Never expect free early check-in even though the room is available i.e be prepared to pay extra 50% of the room rate if you arrived "as late as" 10.45am to request for early check-in.

Fulfill my Tokyo vacation by staying here

  • Sarun Boonchalakulkosol
  • Dec 11, 2012
Prior to my arrival I was written to the hotel asking for non-smoking floor and high floor. I was arrived on Wednesday 5 Dec 12 afternoon and found the check-in process was very efficient, they have provided what I have requested. Staffs are speaking good English.. Room was very comfortable and very decorated with care in every single detail. You will have a pyjamas that the hotel changes daily for you. Next to the hotel is the convenience store where you can get some good snacks, soft drinks, and ice creams whenever you want. After a short walk (turn your back on the hotel, walk left 50m, and turn left again then walk another 100m, then cross the road) you will reach JR Suidobashi station where you can easily reach Shinjuku, Akiba (Akihabara), or Tokyo station within 15 minutes including any transit if required. Just across the station located McDonald's (24/7) and Staarbucks (open until 10.30pm), Tokyo Dome, and Suidobashi subway station. This is an ideal place to stay for. I have been staying for five nights, and surely I will return to this hotel for my next visit.

Location was good for my purposes

  • Donald
  • Sep 23, 2010
Location was good for my purposes but not perhaps those wanting to shop having to catch 2 trains or a bus and a train. There are coffee shops and convenience stores on the block. The fact that the limousine bus takes off from the Celestine is a bonus although you then have to endure all the other hotel stops. 3000 yen to Narita airport.

Convenient location, tiny stuffy space

  • boobeary
  • Mar 28, 2012
Like described with many of the other reviewers, the rooms are small, even for a double. Ours was comfortable but unfortunately very stuffy. Hard to get circulating air inside even though they have knee-high ionizer to purify the air. We should have gotten them to open the window. You really need to step out of the way to open up the bathroom door and navigate around your significant other as you get dressed. But you really do get a very convenient location with friendly staff, and there is a stable wi-fi connection so our iPhones and laptops were happy.

The overall experience to stay

  • Chiu
  • Feb 8, 2011
The overall experience to stay in Westin Tokyo is really good. Their facilities and service is excellent , esp we were traveling with our 11 months old baby. Westin has provided us a lot of baby accessories like cot, milk warmer, stroller, diaper collector, baby toilet and even mid night milk bottle cleaning service. We definitely give a A+ to Westin Tokyo. Just 1 thing make me feel strange, which is in hotelclub.com website, our package deal should include free internet usage. However Westin Tokyo stated out it is not for free in our deal. So I guess either Westin or hotelclub has to make it clear thru the booking system.

Perfect stay

  • SuperGrobi
  • Sep 18, 2012
We enjoyed three nights at this hotel. We arrived fairly late due to the flight schedule and the first thing happening at the hotel was the staff greeting us by name. The room is quite small but functional and sparkling clean. The bathroom is indeed only separated but a glass wall, so this is something to get used too. The shower is awesome, a rainforest shower type with many heads and sufficient water pressure. The breakfast is okay with many western and Japanese choices providing a good start into the day. There is a free Saeco coffee machine in the lobby making way better coffee than what is provided at breakfast. The hotel is indeed located at a steep hill, however, a public lift eases that and circumvents any climbing. Fortunately, the lift is right by the metro station.

Although difficult to find. Japan uses a very difficult address system, even my Japanese friends had trouble finding the hotel. Best to look at the hotel website for the map. Otherwise, this is a business travel hotel, very clean with breakfast provided as well as LAN internet in the rooms. A very friendly and helpful staff. They speak very little English but have manage to understand questions.

We stayed in the annex building and got a different breakfast than the main building which I didn't think was fair. Also, they are not equipped to handle a large number of guests for breakfast and we had to line up. You are not allowed to take breakfast to your room. Only 1 person on their reception staff spoke English well enough to help us, the rest spoek or understood little to no English.

If you can get a good deal, it is a good hotel

It is a block from Exit 5 of the Roppongi Station (if coming from Narita Aiport of JR Train, you will need to transfer twice on subways, I believe you use Chiyoda, then Hibya). We were able to get a deluxe room for around 170 USD per night and the room was pretty spacious with the bed consisting of two double beds pushed together. The coffee in the lobby is good and free. The breakfast buffet is great if you do not mind Japanese fare, only a few selections for those without adventurous tastebuds. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in a three block radius. 100 Yen shop (dishware) and Don Quijote Shop (fourth floor) near the hotel for those looking for Japanese souvenirs. Lots of people walking around at all times of the day and night.

Small, clean, kind staff

Overall, it was a nice room. A bit small, but that's expected in Tokyo. The bathroom didn't have a ventilation fan, but the shower was large enough. The area around the hotel has things to offer, and is close to the subway. It would have been nice to have some complimentary water as the vending machine on the second floor was out of water the first day I was there. Bed was comfortable and a/c worked well. Staff was friendly and breakfast was good.

My sister and I stayed here for

  • KENG
  • Apr 28, 2010
My sister and I stayed here for three days for the price of two so for that price I would say it is good value for money. The room is small, and one of us had to put the suitcase on the chair as there was no space on the floor. But it alright for us as we only used it for sleeping. Its proximity to the Asakusa subway makes travelling around very convenient and there was one day when we bought a one day Toei pass for 500 yen and saw most of the sights we wanted. Wish that there was at least one English language tv programme though for the nights we returned early.

The room was small but large enough for one. Not an elegant room but clean and comfortable enough. Right across from Shinagawa station.

Pathetic

  • Mike24
  • Sep 19, 2011
Room was clean and adequate, location pretty good, but experience was otherwise appalling. The breakfast menu was so bad and so expensive that I left the hotel every morning to find food. The so-called gym was so far away that I got most of my exercise just getting there, and then they charged extra and would not accept a room charge. I had to pay cash. I'll stay elsewhere on my next trip.
