Venice Hotels

A deceivingly large city, Venice consists of a group of boroughs. The most famous is the area comprising the 118 islands in the main districts that are called "Sestieri." The Most Serene Republic of Venice dates back to 827, when a Byzantine Duke moved its seat to what is now known as the Rialto.

Venice is a pedestrian city, and the absence of cars makes walking a uniquely pleasant experience. The Rialtine islands - the 'main' part of Venice - are small enough to walk from one end to the other in about an hour. For a change of pace, ride a vaporetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal right before sunset. The vaporettos can be expensive, but the sights are priceless: amazing architecture, soft seaside sunlight, and a fascinating parade of Venetian watercraft. For a more luxurious Venetian experience, take a Gondola.  The Gondoliere may decrease the price if you ask but make sure you reach an agreement on price and time before you embark.

Spend a day on the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello. There are boat services to all these islands at scheduled times, including between the islands themselves. Be prepared for long lines and long waits for the boats between islands. While exploring Venice bask in the city’s historic ambiance. Walk through the alley ways, hop on a water taxi, people watch on a plaza. In addition to the museums scattered across the islands, many churches allow tourists to enter free of charge.

We needed a place just to rest our head while in Venice and this place was cheap. The free breakfast was great but I disliked the bed situation. We had a room with a twin and a queen bed... but the queen bed was two twin beds crammed together. Didn't make well for snuggling. But like I said we couldn't beat the price.

A nice hotel, 11km from central Venice

  • aanjalii88
  • Jan 2, 2012
The hotel was pretty average in set-up, with average space and comfort. The front desk staff was very helpful in planning our day in Venice and told us which bus to take, and how much was a good price for a waterbus, etc. However the breakfast was 5 Euro per person and only had pound cake and boiled eggs with rolls. Didn't even have toast...

It's not located in the center, but you can take a boat about 20 mns from the hotel. The stuff is nice, and he speaks perfectly English...I think you can find in many hotels in Venice. It's worth for money if you are looking for an economic hotel. I would recommened this hotel to you if you are traveling with cost limit.

Gutes Hotel für einen Kurzurlaub

  • Anonymous
  • Jul 4, 2012

the hotel is across from the main train station, which makes it very easy as far as luggage is concerned (you can leave stuff there after you check out), especially since Venice is not fun if you have luggage to carry around. The downside for me was that the room was small and smelled a bit strange (a mixture of old building and smoke). Breakfast was just OK, not a buffet that I was expecting. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English.

You get what you pay for

  • Mitchmac
  • Mar 14, 2012
We paid something like £100 for 3 nights accommodation as we're not generally fussed with where we stay. As long as we have a bed and clean facilities we're happy. I did request a canal view room some 2 weeks before our stay so one would think we might be accomodated but instead we were tucked into a shoebox size room in the back corner with broken shutters and a cracked window. We didn't have a bathroom in the room so shared the one only shower with the other rooms and of course it was absolutely filthy and it was a lucky dip if you had any hot water. On the upside, the location was great, right on the grand canal and only a short walk to the bus and train stations. Great restaurants within close walking distance as well. Most hostels we've stayed in around Europe are better than this place but let's face it, we're talking about Venice which is ridiculously expensive and as they say, you get what you pay for.

Value for money. Good location. The room was clean. Beaware that if you go there before 2pm you can't check in before that. You should wait till they clean your rooms. They claim on their website that guests can check in anytme after 8.00am. This is not true. You can always leave your bags in the reception and go out. Apart from that the hotel was good, nice and clean. Location was really good for us.

Villa Albertina Hotel Venice

  • Old couple traveling with a teenage girl
  • Jul 23, 2010
I did not like the fact that they were not ready for us. They claimed that the toilet had broken and that they were fixing it. They made arrangements with another hotel, and even that the rooms were nice, taking our two-50 pound luggage up to a 4th floor with no elevator was terrible for us old people. The front desk people were not very friendly either. The next day, we returned to Albertina, but the room was not very comfortable. They also asked for a deposit of $20 euros to use the air conditioning control. I do not recoment this hotel.

Description
Staying at Villa Paradiso means choosing one of the places to stay in Venice Lido where the Venetian atmosphere mixes with a true Mediterranean charm. The island, between the sea and the lagoon, has several sporting facilities and offers you the possibility of reaching Piazza San Marco in just 25 minutes. Villa Paradiso is in Malamocco, one of the most characteristic and oldest areas of Venice Lido, a long way from the traffic and crowded streets. The Lido is a thin strip of land that separates Venice from the sea and which was already one of the most famous seaside resorts in Italy at the beginning of the twentieth century. The Lido is studded with splendid Liberty-style Villas, and is the setting for one of the most important society and cultural events in the world: the International Exhibition of Cinematographic Art. At just ten minutes from Piazza San Marco the Lido is beach for Venice and its people, full of bathing establishments and small, characteristic restaurants. Villa Paradiso is one of the few guest-houses in Venice Lido where the guests can choose from among the many sports facilities on the island: a Windsurfing club. water-skiing and sailing, tennis courts and archery, cycling paths, one of which is the famous one along the "Murazzi", and also horse-riding stables. However, Golf Club Alberoni, only 5 minutes from Villa Paradiso, with its 18-hole course, is most certainly the most famous sporting facility on the island. The Alberoni Natural Oasis with its wonderful trees and its spontaneously-growing flora, is the ideal place for a walk in the open. Also, thanks to its geographical position, the Lido is the ideal place from where to discover the lagoon's islands and to visit Chioggia e Pellestrina, small, characteristic seaside towns high up on the Adriatic coastline. For your stay on the beach, Villa Paradiso will take care of recommending the best places for enjoying the beauty of our wonderful golden beach and for those guests who want to explore the natural beauty of the Alberoni Oasis and the surrounding area of Malamocco, Villa Paradiso will provide mountain bikes and comfortable picnic rucksacks. Staying in Villa Paradiso means choosing one of few Bed & Breakfasts in Venice Lido where the rooms conjure up the beauty of the sea.A tax has been imposed by the city for stays beginning 1 October 2012, and will be collected directly at the property. GReat service, and friendly staff

This hotel was a great choice for us. The hotel is located on Lido which is about a 20 minute water bus away from Venice. The hotel is actually an additional 15 minute bus ride to the water bus location. This was fine for us, but for those traveling and want to be in the middle of the action, this may not be the hotel for you. Service was great, the lady running the establishment was very helpful with questions. The breakfast was typical. Cold cuts and cheese and yogurts. Overall I would rate it a great bargain for a frugal traveler.

Good value for the convenience

  • Jkim530
  • Oct 26, 2011
My husband and I were visiting Venice for only a day and we would be lugging around our suitcases, too, so the close proximity to the Santa Lucia train station worked out in our favor. We would have preferred to be more central to where the shops were, but it would have been a complete pain to drag our luggage over several mini-bridges (Venice is full of them) and those mini-bridges are all stairs. We just left our luggage at the hotel, which was literally across the canal, and we walked to the tourist sites, which took maybe 15 minutes (if you didn't get lost in all the mini alleys). The hotel was clean, definitely not new, but served it purpose. It had no elevator so you had to bring your luggage up the stairs, but not a big deal for anyone not minding the climb. Our room was huge, with three beds, and the bathroom was stocked with a ton of fresh towels. It looked out over the water with two big windows that also brought in lots of sunlight. I'd def stay here again because it was a great value for Venice, which is really expensive!

We were lost adn wanderign for 2hrs, even the police were useless in giving directions. Internet is only avaible in the lobby. Breakfast was a buffet stil, with Americano coffee(btw McD serves americano coffee)

Good Hotel, nice quiet neighborhood

If you are visiting Venice, this is a great place to stay if you'd like to be a ways from the chaos. Venice itself is exciting and beautiful but quite busy and noisy. Lido, the island where this hotel is located, is a short Vaparado ride from San Marco Square and the hotel is only 2 short blocks from the dock where you're let off. That makes the price very attractive as well, since hotels right in the heart of Venice are extremely expensive. But be sure and request a large room. We got a "single" room even though they knew there were two of us and it was a small bed with hardly any room to negotiate around it. But other than that, there was nothing to complain about. The service was good, the breakfast was included and tasty. Would stay there again, in a larger room.

This recently renovated Inn, dating back to the 50s, is located along the Brenta River way, to Venice or Padua. in the area it's possible to visit some of the most stunning Venetian Villas built by the rich merchants families of Venice or by the aristoctratic Venetians. They are masterpieces by Palladio and other famous architects of that era. Venice is about 30 min journey by bus, and Padua approx the same. The Burchiello boat makes stop to visit some of the Villas before arriving to Venice. Otherwise the buses stop just in front of the Inn.

A very pleasant hotel, recently totally refurnished. The main style is modern but, being a building dating to the beginning of 1900, there is a protected area where the original wooden beams and staircase have been preserved. A shuttle service to/from Venice International Airport is available on request at the hotel. The air conditioning is only available in the months of June-September. The hotel also has parking which is charged at a small fee, to be paid on the spot. (CQ04/08) A traditional yellow 3-storey building in keeping with the surroundings. The hotel is located in front of Mestre railway station, 8 minutes travelling time from Venice. The area is quite lively with a few bars and restaurants and it is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Mestre.

Satisfait

  • Blue Lagoon
  • Oct 16, 2012

One night stay near Marco Polo Airport

  • RBhan
  • Sep 3, 2012
It was a perfect place to stay for one night before our early morning flight. The staff (Anne) were super friendly, in-room internet was fast and great, and the dinner at the restaurant was reasonably priced and good. In the morning there was coffee and rolls before we left (at 5:30 in the morning) and the shuttle was there in time. I think we made the right choice and would recommend it to anyone for a brief stay. For a longer stay it may not be so convenient, especially if you need to spend some time in the room as it was quite small, but it did have a really nice size and very clean bathroom. Thank you for making our stay so convenient and comfortable. One more thing, I emailed with the hotel several times for directions, etc., and the response was always immediate and very helpful.

Lovely relaxing atmposphere

I loved this hotel and the only reason I haven't given 5 stars for overall and amenities is that the wi-fi and the 3G signal were pretty poor and we were forced in to the lobby to get a half decent signal. The location was out of the way but easily reached by reliable regular public transport. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of foods served in a clean welcoming dining area. The bar area was also clean and welcoming. It would have been lovely if this hotel had a restuarant for evening dining. We were in Venice for sightseeing and at the end of a long tiring day, the hotel was such a nice place to come home too. Pay per view TV in the rooms and CNN and BBC world news make for more comfort. I would definitely stay here again.

Some rooms are in the attic of the hotel and ceilings are very low. If you're over 6 feet tall, you might hit the head to the ceiling.

Great place to stay

At first we had a bit of a problem finding the hotel, because Venice is kind of like a maze. It really is not far at all from the main street. We thought that the staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. They kept us up to date on the events that were taking place in the city, which was awesome because we got to see the best fireworks show of we have ever seen! The room was lovely. It was nice that they had free internet. I would stay here again if I ever came back to Venice.

central Venice location

Location can't be beat in Venice. Next door to Doges Palace and the boat stop that goes to anywhere in Venice including the outer islands and the airport. Breakfast was surprisingly good when we only expected a croissant and cappuccino. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, calling restaurants for reservations and giving directions to find places. We chose the economy double and that means very very small bedroom that barely fits a queen size bed. The bathroom was very large though, so that kind of made up for the small bedroom size. But again, for the price and location, this was a high value hotel.
