This hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of whats going "on" in the city of Venice. You could not ask for a very reasonable priced hotel to be better positioned than a five minute walk from St Marks Sq.
The staff were very helpful and quickly put right a couple of small issues with the room when we arrived.
The only down side to our room was the condition of the bath, it really was showing its age to the point that we choose not to use it.
That aside I would use the hotel again because of the friendly staff and its location.

Our room happened to be the largest room - I don't know how we lucked out - and it overlooked a short street that ended at the Grand Canal, so we had a wonderful view. The staff was very helpful. I wish we could have stayed longer. If you have trouble finding it, as we did, ask for the Hard Rock Cafe. It's around the corner from there and just around the corner from Piazza San Marco.

The location of Ca' del campo is hard to beat, as it's close to the main venice tourist spots but at the same time, located in a quiet street.
The room i stay, a superior double, had some period features, and I couldn't ask for more in terms of comfort and cleanliness.
Breakfast was ok, but would benefit of fresh fruit and natural juices.
The young gentleman in main reception was very nice and would always receive you with a smile in your face. But an older gentleman lacked comunication skills, specially on checkout, as didn't even said thank you or goodbye or even hope to see you soon.

Alles in allem zufrieden
-

Vorteile: Klimatisierte Zimmer, bei 4-Tage Aufenthalt zwischendurch einmal neue Bettwäsche bekommen, jeden Tag neue Handtücher, Sauberkeit der Zimmer ok.
Nachteile: Frühstücksbuffet etwas dürftig,z.B. kein Frühstücksei oder Rührei oder keine Gurken-bzw.Tomatenscheiben.

Darling Little Hotel

The three J's
- Aug 6, 2009
We spent 2 nights at this cute little hotel, which is very well situated - about a 10 minute walk from San Marcos in one direction and the Rialto Bridge in the other. The hotel was very clean and the staff was extremely nice. The room we had was a triple, and we were very comfortable, but I must admit that the room was pretty small with the third bed in it. (But who spends much time in the room when they can be out exploring Venice?) Breakfast was very good - bread, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, fruit, etc. but no hot food. We loved it!

The apartment was in a great location close to Rialto bridge and San Marco square. Gondolas would pass by your window all day, though it was still quiet and relaxing. Staff was very nice and spoke english, they brought breakfast during cleaning. Breakfast would include milk, juice, prosciutto, cookies, jam filled croissants, bread, nutella, and bread. Wifi was also very fast and we were able to show video chat with our family back home so they can see the gondolas.

We only spent a night and the only issue with the location is that the nigh life is pretty much dead in the San Marco area. However, during the day, it just doesn't get any better. It's only about a 50 feet walk to San Marco's square.
The room was basic, old venetian style and the bathroom quite clean and pretty modern. We got a room with a balcony overlooking one of the canals which was really cool. The staff was helpful and quick on check-in check-out.

Location of hotel is outstanding - right off of the main square (St. Marks, Basilica, Doge's Palace) and within easy walking distance of Rialto Bridge and multiple water transportation options. Only downside to hotel was street noise (pedestrians and revelers) that extended well into the night. A higher floor (we were on the first floor) might mitigate this negative. All in all - WELL worth the money. [...]

the hotel is just off a nice quiet piazza down a little alley away from
All the hustle and bustle of tourists yet only a quick 5min walk to st
marks square. The hotel and rooms are well kept and the breakfast is well stocked with typical european fare. Only drawback is the coffee is by machine, not through the traditional press. Overall a good experience for my first time to Venezia. I will remember this hotel for my next visit.

Description
The Gritti Palace dates back to 1525 when its construction began. At first the official residence of the Gritti family, the palace was later used as the residence of the Vatican ambassadors to Venice. Later still, it was home to successive noble families, as the Pisanis and again the Grittis in 1814, when it was purchased by Camillo Gritti. Over the centuries it has had illustrious guests, as it was the habit for noble palaces.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the palace was converted into a hotel and annexed to the adjacent Grand Hotel. Following the Second World War, Compagnia Italiana Grandi Alberghi acquired the palace and, after important restoration works, the hotel officially opened on June 5th, 1948 as The Gritti Palace.
It soon became the favourite of intellectuals, artists and royalty. Among the many guests who enjoyed its exceptional hospitality feature Sir Winston Churchill, Graham Greene, Ernest Hemingway, Andre Malraux, Igor and Vera Stravinsky, Luchino Visconti, and Orson Welles.
Ernest Hemingway once described the hotel "as the best hotel in a city of great hotels."
In the words of W. Somerset Maugham, "There are few things in life more pleasant than to sit on the terrace of the Gritti when the sun about to set bathes in lovely colour the Salute, which almost faces you. You see that noble building at its best and the sight adds to your satisfaction. For at the Gritti you are not merely a number as you are in those vast caravanserais that are now being built all over the world; you are a friend who has been welcomed as he stepped out of his motor boat, and when you seat down to dinner at the very same table that you sat at the year before, and the year before that, when you see that your bottle of Soave is in the ice-pail, waiting for you, as it has been year after year, you cannot but feel very much at home."

Excellent location right on the Grand Canal. We only had breakfast, but the choice from the buffet was excellent. As with most old hotels in Italy, the room was cramped, though well presented, but the shower was tiny. Overall, though, we would recommend the hotel for a city break but it is expensive.

A luxurious, brilliantly sited sited hotel, right on the Grand Canal. The bed was perfect. The linens soft. The bathroom was a marvel in orangish-pinkish marble. Wide-screen television with excellent reception. Reasonably priced internet. Room soundproofing was first-rate.
Our room was upgraded on check-in, and we got a spacious sixth floor expanse which included a sundeck the size of many rooms I've stayed in over the years. Our room was not directly over the Grand Canal, but our sundeck's view was marvelous, nonetheless. Looking one way, we could see the Grand Canal and the Island of Giudecca. Looking the other way were the rooftops, cupolas and spires of Venice.
A few nits:
Though the public rooms are as opulent and palatial as any in Venice, our actual room was done up in a largely bland business hotel style. The only Venetian touches were a passel of Murano wall sconces, a Venetian mirror and a Gothic style headboard for the bed.
The hotel is apparently used by upscale tour groups so the hotel's forecourt & lobby can be bus station chaotic. This also caused the front desk to be a bit "get 'em in, get 'em out" brusque. The price of breakfast (not included) was, to put it gently, a mite enthusiastic.
All told, though, the place is aces. A slam-dunk recommendation.

Description
The Hotel La Fenice et des Artistes, close to the well-known "Teatro La Fenice", has been for more than a century the preferred hotel of artists and people looking for the typical atmosphere characterizing the "hotels de charme". The extremely bright entrance is in the form of a triangle connecting the original building on the left with the newly-built wing on the right. All guest rooms are different from one another, each with its own specific charm, but all in a typical Venetian style. They all have private bathroom, with either a tub or a shower, hairdryer, direct dial phone line, Sat TV and safe. The restaurant "La Taverna", which Gabriele D'Annunzio first called after this name, is one of the most elegant Citys restaurants and is part of the hotel building. This allows our guests to take advantage of the restaurant and benefit from special prices. The position of the Hotel La Fenice et des Artistes is extremely privileged: it is a real house in the middle of the city which is nevertheless located away from mass tourist circuits; it represents a unique chance for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Visit the Web Site of the restaurant Taverna La Fenice: www.ristorantelafenice.it Our guests can also take advantage of the courtyard garden and of beautiful common halls to relax. Our staff is available 24 hours a day to meet all your needs.A tax has been imposed by the city for stays beginning 1 October 2012, and will be collected directly at the property. Besides the breakfast it is very good hotel to stay while visiting Venice.
Staff is grate.
Regarding the breakfast: no eggs, of any kind, no vegetables at all. Nothing warm besides the coffee.
The coffee excellent.
It is defiantly not 4 stars hotel, 3 will be more suitable.

The value and location of main hotel was fine but there is a new additon to the hotel that is actually behind the main hotel and across the road. Since it is detached from the main bldg, you must go outside to access the lobby or restaurant. The rooms in new section are nicer than main building and staff is very nice and was very accommodating and helpful. Base of new building is a little musty, kind of like a basement feeling.

The rooms in this hotel are quite small but I was impressed with how clean they were. The staff was helpful. The breakfast provided substantial options compared to other hotels in the area. I like to do yoga while traveling but the room didn't have any floor space. The hotel has air-conditioning which was a real bonus. There is no room service or hotel restaurant. There's a mini-bar in the room. The hotel is right off Piazza San Marco but can be hard to find. Be prepared to get lost.
