We had a room where our private bathroom was not en-suite - it was next door to our bedroom which was not very convenient but otherwise the hotel was good. We were there first week in June and not many restaurants were open on Murano in the evenings but those that were - were good. Murano is very quiet after all of the day trippers have gone back to Venice, just perfect for us.Transport to and from Venice was frequent - no problems. Would stay there again - but in a different room perhaps.

The brand new hotel in a perfect position: only 150 meters away from the main central Venice railway station ( Santa Lucia). Rooms are very bright and lie on the 4 floors (no lift), but just opened three new rooms on the ground floor (only 5 stairsteps) for people who have some problems in moving upstairs (this three rooms have bathroom ensuite). Breakfast - included.
They are all very well equipped and guest can choose between rooms with bathroom ensuite (with hair dryer), and rooms with sharing bathroom on the floor (cheaper). Anyhow, every room has satellite tv, color tv, air conditioning / heating, telephone (with the possibility to call outside), alarm service, selfcare stuffs, balcony with flowers on request (view on a typical venecian calle).
The hotel offers a wireless lan system which is a value added service starting from june 2005. The breakfast room has been opened on 12th may, and it is also a wonderful living room with a small bar which works all day long. The hotel offers amenities such as bar, non-smoking rooms, reception, safe deposit box and tour desk.

The hotel location is very convenient for everything, very close to the train station, water taxi or bus or walk way. The hotel has very reasonable service for the value of money paid, has all the basic facility and service. Breakfast is not fascinating or it is very minimum and the staff at front desk are nice but not at the dinning place.

Reception staff was very friendly.
We had booked room with bath. As they were fully booked and did not have any room with bath we were asked to accept a two room appartment with kitchen close to the hotel We were a bit reluctant to accept this but it turned out to be very nice. We got a spacious brand new fully furnished appartment with all necessary equipment.
We had breakfast at the hotel. It was OK but could have been more to chose from.

A very well positioned and quiet hotel with excellent service. Our room was high up in the sky (4th floor with lift) and excellent (maybe they can get rid of the wollen plankets for linen duvets then we would have given 5 points in all categories). Room was Superior Category ! Price was excellent in January. Breakfast okay for us, but maybe not for "breakfast junkies". After nine times in Venice since 2003, we will definitely use this hotel next time again.

Hotel Spagna is an excellent hotel in a great position. It is 10 minutes walk from piazzale de roma and is very easy to find. The staff are very helpful and all speak very good English. There is range of shops nearby and the one next door sells cold drinks and will open your bottles of beer and wine if you forgot the corkscrew. There were only a couple of minor points and they are that there is no fridge in the room and oversize Americans will find the shower cubicle a bit small. I booked this hotel through [this website] as the rate charged €62 per night was way less than through any other agent. I had a front facing room and the only noise heard from the street was when a talented cellist played outside my window. This hotel is highly recommended and I would stay there again.

We were there for two nights, and the locaiton was perfect! A short walk from the bus terminal made a water taxi unnecessary. The room was older (as most are in Venice) but clean and well-provisioned.
While we were there, the porcelain soap dispenser broke off the wall. Before lunch, the maid had found it, the fragment was removed, and the wall was re-tiled. This is an example of great service, when stuff goes wrong.

The Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection, housed in the old and prestigious Rizzo-Patarol noble palace, is an excellent location for completely immersing yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of Venice. The hotel's XVII-century faade has a portal and loggia on overlapping levels and is hidden a secret garden, the only one to be found in a hotel in Venice, which is perfectly preserved and faces onto the lagoon. The Boscolo HoteVenezia, Autograph Collection combines contemporary comfort with the period luxury of the precious marble, splendid frescoes and Majestic chandeliers. Located in Sestiere Cannaregio, it is close to the center but at arm's length from the more crowded thoroughfares, and thus shows the true face of Venice and its inhabitants.

Anniversary couple
- Sep 21, 2010
The location was perfect, away from St. Mark's and other busy tourist areas. The service was excellent once we got to the hotel. We just misunderstood and thought that the hotel supplied transportation from the airport. We would have preferred to have free wi-fi throughout our stay, but we did get our free 30 minutes. The negative part was that there was no air conditioning in the room. We had to sleep with the windows open and there were no screens, so we had several mosquitoes share our room with us. We are still glad we stayed there, despite the air conditioning issue. It would have been miserable in the summer, but we were there mid-September. It was a very special place for us to spend several days to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary. Cannaregio was surreal....a place that will always hold wonderful memories for us. We did not eat at the hotel because it was too expensive for our budget. We would stay at Boscolo Dei Dogi again if we had another opportunity.

Very Good Hotel

The hotel location was ideal, as it is away from the hustle of St Marks but near enough to get to all locations.
Our room (which I think was a standard room?)was very well appointed and the service from hotel staff was impecable.
Our only gripe was with Venice as a whole, and that is the feeling of being totaly ripped off. Whoever we spoke to, said they felt the same - yes, you expect as tourists to pay higher prices in such a great city but Venice seems to be doing its best to ensure many will not return.
I know from other reviews that the hotel charges more for drinks, being a 5 star, but 20 Euro for 2 glasses of wine (house) is a bit steep by most standards! (Dread to think what a meal in their highly recommnded restaurant would have cost - didn't risk it after the wine).
You can find eateries that are off the beaten track who charge a bit less but the least amount I paid for a small beer and glass of Coke was 9 euro.
Fabulous place, glad we went but probably not likely to return - would recommend the hotel though.

Traveling Troupe
- Apr 12, 2011
This was our second trip to Venice in ten years, and first with children. Previously we have stayed in less touristy areas, but thought a grand palazzo on the canal would be fun and special. It was and it wasn't, whereas our stay with Helvetia & Bristol in Florence was wholly special.
First, if you go, be certain to frequent the hotel's second floor. It's like a museum. We were not informed about it until our last day, so it didn't factor into our stay. It is, though, amazing. As I suspect the rooms immediately overlooking the canal are amazing. Our suite, by contrast, had no window of decent size. We did nicely have steps up to the roof top, with sole access to own roof top dining table. That was lovely. Our room itself was rather a drywall rectangle, with harsh white paint and underwhelming fake moulding. Finally, and perhaps most significant to me, the staff lacked any sense of hospitality. In part due, I think, to the set back nature of their desk, and in part, their personal style. We never interacted with them other than most cursorarily upon arrival. This stood in stark contrast to our hotels in Florence and Verona, where people knew our surname and chatted. The immediate neighborhood, too, is high tourist, as opposed to elegant shops. So, we would not likely stay here again, unless we went full stop and booked a room directly canal side (with attendant pricing).

We have booked this hotel with breakfast included in the price but when we finally arrived there we got transferred to another hotel and was told that the breakfast would not be included in the price which we had obviously paid in full and in advance. So be careful about this as this was not at all good service...the rest was ok.

The hotel is located in a very quiet area just 2 canals away from some of the action. The room was nice and spacious and the staff friendly. The only downside was you only get 30 minutes of free internet access and then must pay for more time.

This is an old style, somewhat fancy hotel but very nice. I have no real complaints. The location is about a 2 minute walk from the train station, a 5 minute walk to the Alilaguna airport boat stop and right on the grand canal - very convenient. Breakfast was nice.

I always knew that Venice will be difficult in a wheelchair. The hotl is not wheelchair firendly as there are 2 steps into the hotel, 2 further down to the lift and then 2 up to the lifts again. The porter was very keen to assist but he was not always available. The biggest problem is the lift. The lift is very small and my wheelchair fitted just through the door. I use a very narrow chair and I had to pull myself through into the lift. I had to change the room as I could not get into th bathroom as the door is to small. The room (No 264) was wheelchair friendly and the bathroom was large.
