The original hotel we booked and paid for had an issue with plumbing so they booked us into a different hotel that was MUCH cheaper and in a terrible location by the rail terminal. We paid over $200 in advance for one night and when I asked the front desk how much the room would normally cost, he said $120......[...]

The hotel was completely acceptable, and my entire family liked it. But, don't expect it to be an "American" hotel. Rooms are on the small side with average furnishings. The hotel shares a building with some other apartments, hence, the second floor entry after a flight or two of stairs. We didn't expect that, though it was not a big deal. (There is a 2 person elevator if you need it). Expect to be held pretty close to the published check-in time with maybe a slight chance of getting in early. Time to walk to places like Piazza de Spagna (Spanish Steps) depending on your pace is 15-20 minutes, not 5. The closest metro station(local subway)is a 15 min walk, unless of course you want to power-walk a bit! If you're going to do Rome on foot, as many people do, you're in a very good locale. But if you need one, busses are a block or two away. "Beds" are okay; meaning average comfort. Don't expect thick, plush mattresses. There were some minor communication hurdles, but nothing that couldn't be worked out. Desk, cleaning and kitchen personnel were fine. The "breakfast" consisted of cereal, one type of bread, croissants (very good), some jellies, and one type of wrapped cheese; and drinks. Organized tour information was not as available as I had hoped, but directions were happily offered. Also, you had internet access for a reasonable fee.

Very good location close to the metro and aldo walking distance to some nice attractions. The hop on hop off buses stop 2 minutes from the hotel. There is also a spa where you can use the sauna and turkish pool for free, but it needs some maintanance.
The hotel was very pricey and it didn't even include breakfast, it was another 25€ extra per person. They charged 10 euro for room service just for one coffee, which made the coffee cost 16 euro, which we thought was rediculous! As most hotels room service is free.

The hotel is very modern and not for everyone.
When I arrived the front desk personnel was very friendly and they gave me an excellent room with a terrace. The view was fantastic, so as the comfort of the hotel.
However, the day I left the staff was not helpful at all and they were even quite rude.
I would strongly recommend the directors to review the personnel staff. Despite that, I would recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel. Quite, charming and relaxing. It is a little bit away from town, so a cab is necessary for almost everything. There are only two so so restaurants near it. There is nothing else to see or do in the immediate vacinity. The room is comfortable and clean. Basic but nice. The bathroom was really tiny. If you are a larger person, the bathroom will be a challenge. There was no room to move around, no counters, and the shower stall is minimal. For the price, it was a good deal. No frills, though.

We have just arrived, decided to come to Rome and have never been here before did know what to expect, read so many reviews, not all good, some quiet negative, I read watch out for taxi drivers for transfers. We pre booked could not have had a better transfer, snowing when we arrived. Warm, -1c outside, very quiet in Hotel, Staff couldn't be more helpful. Reception fast clear and friendly.

Fabrizio and Linda were great hosts, they made us feel like being in a B&B in the middle of the financial district of Rome. They were always there for our needs and questions about the city. The location and value was like having the best of both worlds. We were able to move around Rome with ease as were were within walking distance to many atractions and of the Metro. Via Venneto has so many good restaurants and coffee shops, its was an incredible experience. The hotel was a small residence with the feel of a great hotel, it made our stay a wonderful experience and attention to detail was there at every moment, they even had a small gift fot my Wife's birthday. Thank you Fabrizio.

A Broad Abroad
- Jan 5, 2012
Sandwiched between two larger, brighter, doorman-fronted hotels on the same street, Beau Site is easy to miss. It consists of a few small rooms on the second floor of what at first glance looks like a quiet residential building, on the Via Ludovisi, in an area with a lot of luxury hotels and restaurants. You have to be buzzed in from the street, then it's up a few stairs (taking your luggage with you). Not therefore handicap accessible, though after the entrance stairs there is an elevator at the back. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 202, which was a couple of paces from the front desk. People who need a lot of privacy may want a room farther from reception, since sounds were easily heard through the door. The double bed was comfortably firm and supportive, the curtains effective at blocking out the light, and the street didn't sound noisy despite there being a trendy nightclub nearby. The bathroom was tiled in marble, outfitted with a bidet and a radiator/towel-warmer. However, the shower was surprisingly compact. Large persons may have difficulty. There was a desk in the (typical for Europe) tiny room, an ample wardrobe with drawers, a safe, and a radiator where I got to dry out my socks after we got caught out in the rain. The walk from the hotel to the sights of Rome was easy even for two unathletic types such as ourselves. Good restaurants are just around the corner and there's a standard cheerful Italian bar just across the street for coffee or drinks. The hotel also serves a basic breakfast of pastries, packaged yogurts, juice drinks (juice-themed more than juice) and coffee to order. If a chocolate croissant and a cappuccino are all you need to get going, you're in luck. If not, head down via Veneto where you'll find restaurants that understand the American need for protein in the morning. To sum up, this was a well-situated small hotel with friendly good service, reasonably priced, very comfortable for a short stay.

The hotel was perfectly located in a quiet area but within comfortable walking distance of The Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Staff were very helpful and even arranged transport back to the airport for us. Room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. We had breakfast in bed on our last morning and it was very good. My only complaint would be the pillows as I couldn't get the right combination for a comfortable sleep. Mind you I am rather picky when it comes to pillows and we didn't mention it at the hotel though I'm sure they would have been only too happy to help.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to couples looking for somewhere a wee bit special but still offering good value for money.

This hotel is small and cozy. And yes, the barman is nice and super friendly. Don't expect all the comforts you would get from the big chains (cotton sheets, big pillows, comfy bed, nice tv, etc.) but if you are just looking for a clean place to sleep that is close to all of the tourist attractions and within walking distance to most. Just up the hill from the Spanish Steps and close to the Villa Borghese. Room was small but the breakfast included for the price is on the top of the hotel with a nice view and a great way to start the day.

I Miss My Wallet!!!
- Jun 13, 2011
Hotel staff was exceptional and sincere in their efforts to make our stay enjoyable. We were robbed on the Metro the second day of the trip and the hotel offered to lend us 100 euro until we could arrange for our own funds. We did not take them up on it but it was very nice of them to offer. If riding the Metro or walking in crowds, leave your wallet and a different credit card in the hotel room safe. Take only the cash you may need and a credit card. Be sure to tuck into secure areas (i.e. sock, shoe, tight front pocket, etc.). Avoid crowded train cars and be mindful of tipping off thieves as to the location of your valuables. Most of us tourests tend to repeatedly touch the pocket in which our wallet is located.
Ceartainly a pricey hotel choice, but you really do get what you pay for. Roof top terrace has great views and wonderful atmosphere.

Ignore the complaints about the shower. It really is a minimal issue. The staff is as friendly and helpful as possible. The hotel is quiet and satisfactory in all ways. The 116 bus runs down the via veneto, through the center of rome and to the vatican, making travel to many of the major tourist attractions very accessable

Stayed at this hotel for 9 days last year and although the location isn't ideal I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. If you have ever been to Rome before you know the city is walkable from almost everywhere. The free breakfast everyday is awesome. I can't wait to get back for just that. The rooms were clean and updated. The staff were fine. The local restaurants are great. Looking to back this year.

Perfect location, exceptional staff, very comfortable, spacious and well-soundproofed room and bath, the Hotel Majestic was a wonderful place to start and end each day. Thanks to a complete breakfast buffet in a beautiful dining room, we walked out each morning well-fortified for miles of sightseeing. Our concierges gave us good suggestions for restaurants, train/plane connections, and whatever else we needed. This hotel is full of personality and history, and yet still has a modern outlook. The dedicated staff reflects that. We loved this place.

Hotel Cinquantatre is situated in the middle of Rome, with the street of Fellini "Dolce Vita", a few steps from the baroque and from the charm of the Imperial Rome. Via Veneto is the most famous street in modern Rome, with its coffee shops, luxury shops and its shining windows. Walking down the street, you will get an idea of the capital artistic wealth: from one side, Porta Pinciana, with its Aurelian's Wall, from the 3rd century with their expansion of nineteen kilometers are the most ample Capitoline monument. From the other side, Piazza Barberini, with its Tritone's Fountain, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

Belles vacances!

The hotel was superbly located 2 stops on the metro from the terminal station and easy to find. The hotel was in easy walking distance of many attractions. I would recommend you do not eat in the restaurants near to the hotel as they had hidden charges for service charges and cover charges for the table. The staff were very helpful and the rooms good for the budget price we paid. Breakfast was dissapointing however.

I had one day to cover on my own. This hotel was $80 versus $500 for the company sponsored hotel. As others have said it is not exceptional roomy but my room was nice and clean. It had free Wi-Fi, something my $500 hotel did not. The breakfast was good and the staff helpful. My chief complaint was a hot room that couldn't be cooled with my in room controls. It was winter and that had the heat on. Would have been nice to have it a little cooler. The location is NOT near a Metro station so you must take a taxi or learn the confusing bus schedule to get there. The neighborhood was otherwise nice.

Spring in Rome

expat from US

The bed was comfortable. We located extra pillows in the dresser drawer. The maids came every day and kept the room very clean. The location is perfect! = close to metro / buses / restaurants etc. The room contained original marble and wood. The hotel has 2 elevators but the oldest one is most reliable .
A huge negative is the noise level. If you go there during the fall or spring months, the weather is perfect for open windows but once the windows are open, the noise is awful! With the windows closed, the noise is less but the room becomes stuffy because the AC is turned off. Also, the internet charges are steep and for use in the lobby.

The Hotel was clean and comfortable with cheerful, helpful staff. The Restaurant was clean with a well cooked menu though there was not a big enough choice for us. The location is great, just a 10 minute walk away is Hard Rock Cafe.If you are happy to wander around there are lots of smaller shops with some designer stores on Via Veneto one of the main streets. There are also some Large Hotels along here that puts up the restaurant prices. A variety of trips are on offer which are good if you dont want to organise your own but using the bus service is much cheaper at 1 euro anywhere in Rome one way, these can be purchased from news stands locally. The restaurant next to the Hotel Il Rifugio del Buttero had quite nice food though the staff were unfriendly.Didnt need towels as changed daily, with the beds made and rooms hoovered also daily.
On the whole a very good holiday and I would definitely return(threw a coin in the Trevi Fountain so got to go back!!).

This hotel starts on the second floor of a residential building which is a little unusual. The hotel could do a better job explaining this to guests. It's just off the Via Veneto and you're at the Spanish steps in less than 15 minutes walking. The rooms are minimal but comfortable. Each room is different but with 8 people in our group, everyone was pretty happy. The only real downside was that WIFI was available only in the reception area, so privacy was an issue if you want to Facetime/Skype with people. This hotel had great value and was a well located.

Set on one of the most well-known streets in the world, the Ambasciatori Palace Hotel is an elegant choice for those wishing to truly experience La Dolce Vita in Rome.
This charming hotel is set on Via Veneto, the street which inspired Fellini's classic movie, Roman Holiday. It was built in the early 20th century for international diplomats from the Embassies nearby.
Between 1993 and 2001 the building went under careful renovation. The result was the enhancement of the original, antique decorations, including stuccoes, arches, capitols and columns. The bright and spacious common areas at the Ambasciatori Palace offer a sophisticated atmosphere where you can relax after a day in Rome. All of the comfortable guest rooms and suites feature luxury materials and vintage furnishings. Enjoy a drink at the lounge bar accompanied by live music in the evening, or refined Italian cuisine at La Terrazza Restaurant. Look out onto Via Veneto as you dine, in the summer the terrace is opened to enjoy the mild Roman evenings.
The hotel offers free breakfast to its guest.
