My niece and I thoroughly enjoyed stating at this hotel. Guisseppe was wonderful and so accommodating. I was surprised that we had to pay for internet service, but later I found out that it is quite common in Europe. The breakfast was very good. Location really couldn't be any better! The train station and St. Peter's Basilica were both a short walking distance. I would totally stay there again and recommend it to anyone going to Rome!

On the plus side--great location, good service, comfortable room, excellent breakfast buffett and very attentive, professional staff.
The major negative is their wi-fi policy. Free for 30 minutes/day in the lobby. With a better wi-fi policy, this hotel would rate five stars..

A perfect place if St. Peter's Square and the tours are your target for visiting.

The staff are very courteous and helpful despite the language barrier.
It is very near St. Peter's Square. The tour buses are right across the street and the office of the bus tour is less that 5-minute walk.
The hike to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel is not that far and it is very easy to locate from the hotel.
There are a lot of souvenir stores, restaurants, eatery, etc. near the hotel. The draw back is the money changer - the exchange rate is low compared to what I got from the US before I left.
The internet connection was good and I was able to print my boarding pass from the hotel for my return trip.
I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends if they will plan to go to the Vatican.

HOTEL COLUMBUS on Via Conciliazione in Rome is a perfect fit for anyone who wants to be in the heart of St.Peter's basilica. Only a few steps away! It's a palace of the Rovere family that was converted into a hotel!!!
The Amenities are good; Rooms are adequate and quiet!!! Hotel Columbus has a great ambiance and Medieval environment .
The Breakfast for 15euros in the hotel Columbus is a bargain compared other cafes in the area...which are all so pricey! Staff is helpful! Need a cab, limo or help to find a bus to the shopping district...they know it all.
Also, Internet available and I-pad can be rented per day ...
we will always stay at the Hotel Columbus when we come to Rome!

This hotel is very nice, and located in a central location to the Vatican. Walked to the Vatican every day, and on the way there were many places to shop and eat along the main street. There were also many street vendors selling everything you could think of for reasonable prices. The Metro was only a few blocks away. The hotel staff were very accommodating with finding places to go, tours, maps, etc. Make sure if you state how many people are in your room because you need to have a room with that many beds.

THIS WAS A GOOD LOCATION FOR MY HUSBAND AND I. THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT, HELPFUL UPBEAT. HOWEVER, WITH GROUPS OF TOUR THAT BOOKED THERE STAY AT THE HOTEL , IT BECAME A HERD OF CATTLE DURING BREAKFAST TIME. BLOCKING STEPS, MY HUSBAND FELL DOWN THE STEPS DUE TO THE LACK OF SUPERVISION. I DID NOT APPRECIATE PAYING FOR THE INTERNET SERVICE AT THE COST OF ROOMS.

ADA has not come to Europe. Stars in the lobby. The orange decor gives the place a sterile look. The eco-friendly touches help. Staff was nice. Room was adequate but no place to put toiletries in the bathroom. Not impressed with breakfast.

This hotel is quite pretty and perfect for a weekend trip to Rome. However, location could be better but if you want to focus on the Vatican it is perfect. The rooms are small but clean and have AC. Compared to other hotels in Rome Hotel Orange is quite loud (depends on where your room is located). Unfortunately we didn't have any shelfs in our room (only hangers) and thus, couldn't unpack properly. Receptionists didn't have a clue about Rome and thus couldn't help us finding good restaurants or anything else. All in all a we had a pleasant stay and we couldn't ask for anything more for the money.

Good value Rome hotel

After extensive research of Rome hotels, this one came out tops for value. Though not in the historic city centre; it is certainly close enough to it for this not to be a disadvantage; in fact, given the noise and pollution surrounding many of the more central hotels (not to mention the grotty accommodation), the location of this one, for me, was preferable. The metro connection close by is a huge advantage. There is also something very special about being close enough to reach St Peter's or the Vatican Museums early enough to beat the hoards of tour groups that hit from mid-morning. The hotel is literally 10 minutes walk from the Vatican. There is no restaurant in the hotel (breakfast only) but this is Rome! Good food is not in short supply elsewhere. Minor issues with torn wallpaper and limescaled shower head (surprising these are not attended to given the ease of rectification). However, overall, friendly, family run and clean. Recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel 5 times. The first 4 were pleasant hence my return but my last experience was so disappointing that I have decided not to return!
Although I booked a double room, and indicated 2 adults would be staying in the room, I was given what was clearly a single room, hastily turned into a double by rotating the bed and squeezing another single bed beside it. The room was so cramped that I could not even open the wardrobe properly.
Also, I was charged for pay-per-view TV without warning. I would have at least expected that some message would pop-up on the television to advise that the channel was a pay-per-view channel. The channel in question was a sports channel so it wasn't that obvious.
I did write an e-mail to notify the management about my disappointing stay.I had hoped that they would at least apologize and give some reassurance that this would not happen again. Sadly I am still waiting for their reply (it's been 6 weeks since I wrote).

The hotel room was small with two twin beds and was one of the corner units. I would suggest a room with one queen bed as they would be more spacious. The TV did not work and the air conditioning did not work one night. However, the spectacular rooftop terrace and complementary daily breakfast were fabulous! The rooftop had a beautiful view of St. Peter's Cathedral and the night wine special was lovely to enjoy after a long day of walking. The hotel's loction was great with walking distance to the Varican and only a few blocks to a metro station. Also, the free wi-fi throughout the hotel (along with free use of a computer in the lobby) were nice amenities to have especially when booking tickets online.

We enjoyed staying at this Hotel. Excellent for people that wants to be away from the city's hustle bustle, yet accessible everywhere with public transportation. There is also a Shuttle Service from the Hotel.
Staff was very service oriented and very courteous. We liked staying at this hotel so much that we choose to go back upon our return from Venice.
Buffet Breakfast was very good, I wish they include hard boiled eggs as well in the future.
Hotel has a decent Restaurant for Dinner.

Hotel is in family neighbourhood, clean , middle class area. Only one bus stops in nearby bus stop. Train stops in next street which allows you to change to Metro A allows you to go to TERMINI station in the center of town. and other touristic locations. Hotel has own shuttle . They say you should reserve a day before so we did not use it..Hotel itself is perfect for families.If you donot know the Rome it is better take the minibus services from airport which leaves you at the door of the hotel., Attendants and deskcrew are helpful. One thing is room's lighting is not enough.

Hotel is gorgeous and offers a stunning hilltop view of Rome. Be sure to get a room with a city view.
Be aware, everything in the hotel is incredibly expensive, almost obnoxiously so. If you can avoid the ludicrous expenses at the hotel, its a wonderful place to stay.

5nuits pour visite de Rome . Pas un véritable hôtel mais idéal pour être indépendant. Vieux immeubles réaménagés en chambres individuelles avec équipement essentiel . Pas chic mais à 100m du Vatican, 20m du métro qui traverse la ville et 50m du bus qui mène aux sites touristiques. Emplacement parfait avec des nuits très calmes car les chambres donnent sur une cour intérieure.

2인실인데.. 사진과 달리 방이 너무 작았습니다. 2명이 움직이기에 너무 좁았구요. 반면, 화장실은 넓고 깨끗했습니다. 4일 있었는데.. 3일동안 저녁마다 전원이 나가서.. 매번 프론트에 신고해야 했습니다. 그 외에는 직원들이 매우 친절했고 좋았습니다. 위치는 좀 불편하더라구요. 골목에 있어서 찾기가 좀 어려워서 가까운 거리임에도 택시로 이동해야 했습니다.

We liked very much the location of the hotel. It was ideally located in a city block having a Metro stop that linked most of the attractions that most visitors would visit. We were disappointed that the telephone service to our room was not working and required us to have to request the use of the front desk to make calls for us. It was an inconvience having to leave the hotel room to go down stairs to receive telephone calls. While the hotel room was cleaned daily, the lightening in the room was not adequate, as the room was dark. This feature adds to somwhat of a depressing feelng.

We were fortunate to have a "penthouse", top floor with balcony. The view, not of historical buildings, was substantial and made the room seem much larger. The service was great, ask for [...] in the bar. He can fill you in on everything local.The location, by the Vatican museum, was a bit away from "central" sites, but very easy to find. Also, there is a lot more of Rome on this side of the river.

There are lots of nice hotels in Rome. As in any city, they tend to be clustered around the tourist areas. The Hotel Giulio Cesare is a bit further out, although the Piazza del Popolo is literally a 10 minute walk, and the Vatican 15. It is quiet and classy. Breakfast (included in my orbitz package) was sumptuous. Bathrooms were spotless. A great place to wind up at the end of the day.

Had a wonderful time!! The staff was unbelievably kind and helpful in everything we asked. Breakfast brought to room every morning was a major plus! The cappuccino was amazing and my husband loved the marmalade croissants. The room was a good size and the location was perfect - a block away from the best gelato in Rome! (Gelateria Old Bridge). The only issue we had was with the water in the shower, it would go from cold to scalding hot and getting it to remain on a constant warm temperature was difficult to do for more than one minute. Aside from that, we had a wonderful stay!!

The receptionist was very kind and helpful. Every day, they brought the breakfast to my room.
Each time I had a question the receptionist gave me detailed explanations about how to obtain something or go somewhere.

Great place to stay close to the vatican

We rented a 2-bedroom apartment with a complete kitchen. It was very nice and clean. One room had a queen size bed and the other had 2 sofa beds. Everything was very clean and nice. Lory was very helpful. The common guest area was comfortable with internet and a coffee machine.

We had 2 large bedrooms, bathroom and a kitchen. Restaurants, bakeries, groceries were all within close walking distance. We were about a 5-10min walk from a subway stop. There is a room in the hotel with internet machines and an exercise room. Very convenient. Would definitely stay there again. While the location is west of the Tiber River (and not in the heart of Rome), you cannot beat the comfort of the "apartment" we had. The lady at the front desk ([...]?) was very helpful and attentive.

10 minute walk to the vatican--About 15 minute walk to St Angelo's Castle--Great small restaurants all around the hotel area---room very clean---beds firm and comfortable---staff very helpful---hard wood floors in room made cleanliness easy. I wouldn't recommend if you are travelling with children cause there's no pool and the televison is in Italian. Breakfast was included and we took some of the sandwiches and used them for lunch. Overall great experience. I'd go back there again. It's not in the city center but walking distance or cheap train ride or bus ride away from all major attractions.

We had one day in Rome and wanted to explore the Vatican Museums. The Franklin was a perfect location--within walking distance to Vatican City. The staff were extremely helpful giving us directions, restaurant recommendations, and setting up transportation to the airport.
