Description
Relais 6 is a refined and exclusive Hotel located in one of elegant area in Rome.An ideal combination for journeys to the Eternal City and business travel. Each room has been designed and equipped with all facilities at the highest levels of quality and comfort. This stylish little apartment block dating back to the late 1930s and nestling amid the greenery has been fully renovated into a charming hotel. The use of original materials, period furnishings, the renovation of the original flooring uncovered during the restoration work, the installation of a lift in the main stairwell, built in glass and iron in order to preserve the natural continuity of the marble typical of the period: all of this has helped to conserve the authentic nature of an architecture that typified the historical era that originally witnessed it. The large terrace, which offers stunning views as well as two sun rooms, one facing east and the other west, also hosts a heated area, covered in the summer, where guests can exercise in the gym. At the rear of the building is an area in which a little square has been restored back to its original appearance, with characteristic Roman stone paving, a 1930s-style service station and a fountain. In the middle of the square, in the shade of a century-old fig tree, guests can enjoy breakfast in summer, and receptions and events may also be organized in this splendid setting. Guests will receive a warm welcome the moment they step through the door, and will be able to relax by the cosy fire-place of the reception hall. The original kitchen, with its furnishings and equipment typical of the period, can be found in the cellar of the building, where Mediterranean cooking courses will be held, as well as tasting sessions during which guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and food products from the surrounding region. The building was a wartime hideaway before becoming the headquarters of the Allied Intelligence, and the passionate interest in WWII history - supported by the imprimatur of the British Crown - led the owners to create an exhibition area inside dedicated to "The Allied Forces in Italy" during the Second World War. Here visitors can admire a range of objects - some of them belonging to the family themselves - as well as the results of painstaking restoration work, and the aim of the exhibition is to illustrate a chapter in Europe's history which is still very much valid today. The reception and conference rooms and the reading rooms, the splendid furnishings that are the signal feature of both the common areas and the bedrooms make this hotel very much one of a kind: a superb Relais, a veritable home-from-home in the heart of the Eternal City.

A conseiller.

Excellent hotel, a good find

  • TheLads

This was our first time in Rome, and we were on a budget so couldn't stretch to an inner city hotel. However, on arrival I'm glad this was the case! Santa Costanza is in a really lovely little leafy neighbourhood, 3metro stops from Termini and then about a 10-15min walk from the metro stop. We found it great for nipping into town etc and as a platform for the rest of rome. To walk to the centre took us about 45mins. The surrounding area has wonderful patisseries, a supermarket, tabbacanists and if you look hard enough some lovely little restaurants. The hotel itself was clean and tidy. Our room was compact but perfectly pleasant, we literally used it to sleep and shower and the facilities were perfectly adeqauate. I was concerned about the breakfast having read past reviews, but was impressed at the choice, cereals, pastries, yoghurt and bread. However I would have liked some fresh fruit but thats just my personal preference. Far better than any greasy fry up in my opinion anyway!! One slight issue was the walls were very thin, we could literally hear the converstation in the room next door which was annoying on a night but as I sleep with ear plugs and was exhausted from days sightseeing this wasnt an issue for me. Overall I would recommend this hotel for travellers who want to get away from the grime of the city centre and experience the suburbs! Would definately return.

Very Nice Hotel

  • Jun 21, 2011
This is a modern, very clean and very comfortable hotel. Staff was very attentive. Excellent breakfast buffet included. Location not that convenient. Near by bus to old train station then transfer to metro to get to Center of Rome. Plus metro not always running. Better to just take a cab. Good but pricey restaurant in hotel. Nothing much near hotel, shopping center & super market about 6 blocks west on same street.

Reasonable Rome

  • Werner
  • Oct 28, 2011
We stayed there prior to and after a cruise and were quite satisfied. The staff did an excellent job of looking after us. A complimentary internet access is another feature we liked. That, as we found out, can be very costly in Europe. Shuttle service to the airport and harbour is not free. Add 50 Euro per trip. But there are excellent bus connections and one can get tickets right at the hotel. Mercure is a French chain eager to provide good accommodation for travellers.

If it werent so far out, itd be perfect.

  • Sep 19, 2011
The staff were phenomenal, helping us in every aspect of our travel. Very patient with my rudimentary italian, and willing to help find anything. There is a grocery store (Billa) behind the shoe store right around the corner (you go through the shoe store to get to it) and a great wine bar/ enotecca down the street. The room was superbly cleaned daily, amenities were very good, with clean towels, a large tub, access to english BBC and CNN, and adequate power outlets. The terrace on the roof is a must at night, and if youre a night walker this is a very safe neighborhood to explore. It felt great not having to worry about pickpockets, but you are quite a bit away from Rome itself. It's about a 10 minute/ 12 euro cab ride each way with tip- 15 euro with rough traffic to central Rome or the shopping districts near the Vatican. Definitely purchase the private transfer from the airport- it will safe you so many headaches. The only setbacks to this place are that there is no pool and the overall simplicity of the place. But they're trivial things. Also, buy the Green Line Tour to Pompeii and Naples it was amazing. If you go to the Green Line office by Termini you can purchase the tours for the same price, but the representative you speak to makes a commission off of the sale, so we felt good about it. The open roof motor tour of Rome with Green Line is worth the $20 each, as you get so many pictures and a good grasp of the areas and how to get around, without the risk of being pickpocketed. Overall, I would definitely choose this hotel again, because the value was right on, but we might try to find a hotel closer to central Rome next time for the sake of transportation.

Hotel is in good location. Metro and bus station are within a few minutes of walking. free wifi. can not use air condition in room this time of year which makes the room uncomfortable at nigh when the weather is hot,Room is clean but a little small. There are plenty of shops and places to eat and have coffee within walking distance. Hotel staff are helpful. Will stay again and recommend.

  • Boulos
  • Aug 26, 2011
Everything was great, room smells good, fancy bathroom, very quiet area. The breakfast was rich and delicious. The internet connection was horrible, It was down all the time in the rooms, but there were a free connection in the lobby which was unstable, not working all the time and very slow. Anyway, I may select that hotel again if they guaranty that the internet will be working. So in my case if your a businessman that needs to be connected, that hotel is not a good choice.
