We had a classic family room, which is fairly comfortable although the rooms are bit small. The single beds were not as comfortable as the double bed. The air con did not work very well but we stayed in August the hotter time of the year in Rome. However when we asked the hotel provided us with a fan, which made all the difference. There was good choice of food at breakfast. The staff were mostly helpful and pleasant. The only surprise for me was the airport shuttle service which i thought was complementary therefore free, but actually I had to pay for it. Overall it was a lovely stay, we had nice and interesting time.

Our six-night stay at the Mecenate Palace Hotel was very pleasant. Clean, comfortable, and elegant. It is conveniently located just a few minutes walk from Termini train and Metro station. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi was available and reliable, unlike some other hotels we experienced during our trip to Italy. Mecenate's breakfasts were typical European and excellent. We would definitely consider staying at this hotel again and recommending it to others.

Solid Hotel Close To Termini

- Dec 1, 2012
I booked this hotel based on reviews and it's location. We needed a place to stay in Rome, near the Termini (main train station). Una is a very short walk from Termini, which was handy, as we were dragging 3 large suitcases and were exhausted from our long flight. The lobby was very clean and modern and the hotel staff were all very friendly. The room was up-to-date, crystal clean and roomy enough. Breakfast had an array of food served buffet-style, including several types of bread, fruit, cereal, yogurt, eggs and bacon. Looking back, I think we'd have stayed there on the back end of our cruise, even though our other hotel was closer to many tourist sites. Una is a solid choice for pre- and post-cruisers looking to stay in Rome. There are a number of restaurants, shops and gelaterias within a stone's throw. I never felt uneasy about the neighborhood (I'm a cop in the US), even walking around after dusk. My issues - minor ones - were the shower/tub and lack of English TV channels. On the shower, the glass door only spanned about half the side of the tub, which not only allowed quite a cold draft during the shower, but also did little to contain splashed water. In their defense, I don't really see how they could fix it without a big, gaudy shower curtain. And regarding the English channels, it's Italy, after all, and part of being on vacation is getting away from TV. Still...getting a news channel would have been nice.
Ultimately, I'd have no problem recommending Una to anyone looking for a great value on a hotel close to Termini and the Metro. Even if the transportation isn't a priority, just about everything tourists go to Rome to see is still within walking distance and the Vatican is less than 10 minutes away on the Metro.

Friendly and helpful

I had a hard time finding the hotel because it is on a small side street which did not appear on my 'Lonley Planet' map. (But that map was not very good anyway) I knew the general direction and stopped at another hotel to find specifics. They gladly helped me.
The staff at XX Setembre were more than helpful, they were friendly, happy to chat about my day's adventures and taught me Italian phrases when I needed/wanted help (I will be sending them a thank you).
The rooms are sufficient, (felt like my old dorm room) although the carpets have seen a lot of traffic and quite stained. I was aware of this ahead of time and brought flip flops, but everything was kept clean- bedding, bathroom, towels, even the window's curtain lining was taken, washed and replaced at one point during my stay.
The breakfast was fine with fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, quiche, cheeses etc...
But really the shinning star for this hotel is its wonderful staff! They are quite fantastic! I would stay again in a heartbeat.
Another jem was the family run ristorante around the corner called Barbablu (recommended by the hotel). They spoke very little to no English, but were very loving and we acted out everything we needed.
I only found out about them 3days before I left and ate there all three evenings. Delicious food and sweet people!

A very good value for money in central Rome
-
Alex Batalov
- Dec 12, 2012
Good quality hotel, and really good value for money in central Rome, where hotels are traditionally expensive. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially Gianluca at reception, who made very good first impression and was always helpful and very friendly throughout our stay. Room was small but tastefully decorated and very cosy and had all you need on a short-trip (free WI-FI, safe, hairdryer, TV, phone, aircon, extra pillow and extra blanket and even bidet in bathroom). Mattress was too soft for my taste (I prefer hard ones but many people feel uncomfortable on hard mattresses). I, perhaps, should also mention, that room was not in the same building as reception, but just across the street in literally 20 meters, so no problems with that. Breakfast was included, not very great, but OK for the price of the room (a selection of pastries, oranges, apples, ham and cheese, and etc.). Location is great, easy to find and just 4-5 min walking from Termini station and Piazza de Republica, 20 min to Spanish steps. Will stay again.

Hotel Locarno is a masterpiece unto itself, perfectly situated on a quiet road in the centre of Rome and just a stones throw from the splendid Piazza del Popolo. Romantic, intimate and sought after, this place is ideal for anyone seeking comfort in a refined historical environment. The hotel comprises two buildings at the very heart of Rome adjoined by a delightful garden smelling sweetly of wisteria where, in spring and summer, guests can take their breakfast and lunch and sip one of our excellent aperitifs. Locarno is a welcoming and refined guesthouse that the original Swiss owners inaugurated in 1925 with advertising posters by the famous artist and cartoonist Anselmo Ballester.

I have stayed here before years ago and it is just as I remember it. It is charming, old world and in a great location. Typically Italian. This is not an American cookie cutter chain so if that is what you are looking for this is not the place for you. The standard double rooms are a decent size for Rome and include antique furniture, not fine antiques but lend to the charm. Our room came with a shower not a tub and was on the small side but clean and adequate. The bar at the Hotel is popular with locals both young and old and i did not find it loud unli

I really have nothing bad to say about this Hotel I would personally give it 8/10 Marks my rating for this Hotel would be 4 Star. However one thing the hotel can improve on is to make VARIATIONS in the BREAKFAST MENU. If you decide to go to ROME I think it's probably the most beautiful city you will ever visit with so much history seeing is believing. My son who is 16 yrs in age said DAD only if I had an ANGEL who would fly me everywhere in ROME and an extra 24 Hrs to visit all the places again.

We loved our ten day stay at the St George. The staff is excellent, friendly, helpful and treated us like royalty. We didn't pre-book any tours or site seeing, we just let the staff know what we wanted to do and they made it happen. The room was always kept spotless and giving special touches. The St George is located on the most desired street in Rome, which by the way is walking distance to the Vatican and ST Michael Angelo"s castle. We had an amazing Honeymoon... Thank you to all the St George staff and especially Jimmy, Stephano and Emillo.

Everything was perfect and would definitely go back again. The only thought I have is that perhaps the restraurant and bar prices were a little too high. Perhaps this is appropriate for this type of hotel but if they were reasonable, I guess more guests would be inclined to spend within the hotel.
All staff were exceptional with the exception of only one waiter.
I would highly recommend the hotel and say it is very much worth the value.

Right at the center of all the major historical sites and major attractions make this hotel a must for all visitors who like to take a stroll to all these sites. On the way, one can go through the alley ways, the side streets as well as main roads to see a little bit more of Rome. The restaurants nearby are good. Most of all, the staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Hotel room was very clean. Staff were very friendly and rooms were small compared to American standards but average for European standards. The hotel staff are not there 24 hours/day, but usually from 7:30am - 9:00pm. Some amenities could have been better (no cups but plastic ones available in the common area, shampoo was in a packet, soap was not that good, etc.) but these were very minor compared to the value overall. I also like that they have big TVs in each room and they have a nice selection of DVDs to borrow from the front desk and most of them are available in English (and other languages).

The staff really made the stay pleasant. They allowed us to check in early and then go out and tour the city of Rome. The hotel itself is a little older, but the tremendous amount of amenities and kindness shown by the staff more than made up for it. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other travelers.

Description
Relais 6 is a refined and exclusive Hotel located in one of elegant area in Rome.An ideal combination for journeys to the Eternal City and business travel. Each room has been designed and equipped with all facilities at the highest levels of quality and comfort. This stylish little apartment block dating back to the late 1930s and nestling amid the greenery has been fully renovated into a charming hotel. The use of original materials, period furnishings, the renovation of the original flooring uncovered during the restoration work, the installation of a lift in the main stairwell, built in glass and iron in order to preserve the natural continuity of the marble typical of the period: all of this has helped to conserve the authentic nature of an architecture that typified the historical era that originally witnessed it. The large terrace, which offers stunning views as well as two sun rooms, one facing east and the other west, also hosts a heated area, covered in the summer, where guests can exercise in the gym. At the rear of the building is an area in which a little square has been restored back to its original appearance, with characteristic Roman stone paving, a 1930s-style service station and a fountain. In the middle of the square, in the shade of a century-old fig tree, guests can enjoy breakfast in summer, and receptions and events may also be organized in this splendid setting. Guests will receive a warm welcome the moment they step through the door, and will be able to relax by the cosy fire-place of the reception hall. The original kitchen, with its furnishings and equipment typical of the period, can be found in the cellar of the building, where Mediterranean cooking courses will be held, as well as tasting sessions during which guests will have the opportunity to sample wines and food products from the surrounding region. The building was a wartime hideaway before becoming the headquarters of the Allied Intelligence, and the passionate interest in WWII history - supported by the imprimatur of the British Crown - led the owners to create an exhibition area inside dedicated to "The Allied Forces in Italy" during the Second World War. Here visitors can admire a range of objects - some of them belonging to the family themselves - as well as the results of painstaking restoration work, and the aim of the exhibition is to illustrate a chapter in Europe's history which is still very much valid today. The reception and conference rooms and the reading rooms, the splendid furnishings that are the signal feature of both the common areas and the bedrooms make this hotel very much one of a kind: a superb Relais, a veritable home-from-home in the heart of the Eternal City.

Nice Hotel!! Very Clean and the hotel staff were very friendly, nice and helpful. The Hotel is located just a short walk to St. Peter's Basilica which made it VERY convenient for my mother, who is up in age. The only drawback was the free internet service was only in the lobby so it was inconvenient to get on the web. There is wifi in your room but at an extra cost. The room for one night was $249 plus change so free wifi in the room should have been included. The lounge is a little pricey, but nothing that should not be expected when staying in a hotel of this caliber. Just be aware before ordering. We had three people staying in the room and here were three single beds that were very comfortable. There was a free breakfast buffet in the morning which was very nice and also convenient before a the long day ahead. All in All,, this is a VERY NICE and VERY CLEAN hotel and I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family visiting Rome.

Great contemporary hotel next to the forum

Perfect location next to the forum. If you stay here, I'd recommend requesting a room on the garden side, not the forum side. The forum side gets a lot of foot and car traffic on the stone road, which can be noisy. Our first night was on the 1st floor in 104. Decided to switch rooms due to the traffic noise. Moved to a garden room 243 and it was peaceful other than the seagulls squawking every so often. Garden is pristine and nice to look at in the morning. Both rooms were ok sized. King beds. Contemporary furnishings. Good sized bathroom. I'd guess the size of the rooms were 300 square feet. Small flat screen TV mounted to the wall with CNN and BBC available as the English channels. Wifi was inclusive with our room rate. It requires a login and password. You will need a login for each wifi device you want to use as each login is restricted to one device at a time. Breakfast was also included and I thought was really good. Scrabbled ad hard boiled eggs. Sliced meats and cheeses. Cereal. Pastries. Bacon and sausage. Juices, coffee machine, teas. All buffet style. The staff at the front desk and the dining-bar were very helpful and pleasant at all times. If you need help with reservations, definitely ask the front desk to assist. We had them call and reserve the Borghese gallery for us rather than doing it ourselves. You have to walk about 10-15 minutes to get to the entrance of the Colosseum or to get to the closest Metro stop (Circo Massimo) but its not that bad of a walk. If this hotel is on your list of options for Rome, I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

This was a great hotel especially since I had been travelling alone around Italy for 2 weeks already. I was exhausted by the time I got here. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Acccomodating. I ordered room service for dinner which was delish and not unresonable. The location is safe and right behind the Colosseum. Amazing!! There are 2 pubs right up the block and also a sleek chocolate shop/ bakery. The grounds of the hotel are very nice too with a outside terrace and garden off the restaurant where you can sip a cappucino and smoke if you want. The breakfast they offer is convenient but you can get much better and cheaper out on the street. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend the place.

Description
Hotel Turner is located in the centre of Rome, at Porta Pia, a site of particular importance in Italy's history. Located 900 meters from Stazione Termini and from the airport shuttle Terminal, the hotel is near the most beautiful urban park in Rome, Villa Borghese, which is a 10-minute walking distance. A 15-minute walk is what it takes to get to Teatro della Dolce Vita on Via Veneto, which dates from the '60s and is still one of the more elegant and exclusive ones. Hotel Turner is housed in a building dating back to the late 19th century which has been carefully restored, and features classic-style, tastefully decorated rooms that recreate the elegant and sophisticated atmosphere of historic Roman houses.
The property has just opened its new cocktail bar, operating from 6;00pm to 00;00. In summer the indoor cocktail bar will be operating in 6th floor terrace with the same operating times.
Antiques, marbles, stuccos and Damask fabrics are enhanced by the most modern comforts, making Hotel Turner one of the best hotels in Rome.

Certaines chambres sont mieux que d'autres pour un prix et un nom identique. Méfiez vous du Jacuzzi qui n'est qu'une marque et peut n'etre qu'une douche. Demandez une baignoire si comme nous vous prenez la Junior Suite !
