Hotel is nice and in a good location. We booked a room with garden view - very lovely. Our room is big, clean and up dated. Front desk employees are very nice and helpful. Breakfast is good. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to our friends and family members. We would go back and stay in this hotel again.

The staff at the reception and at the breakfast room are very courteous and helpful. Tidiness of the room we stayed were really good. However the Room 36 we stayed in for four nights has a bathroom which needs to be refurbished - there was no shower curtain or glass screen and consequently when we have shower water splashes around the bathroom, and the bath itself is very small and has two levels. The breakfast is cold except the toasts - just scrambled eggs or warm bacon and sausages would have been enjoyable; and then the machine coffee! Otherwise the hotel and the staff are fine. MR Surrey

Hotel Panorama stands in a XIX century building, constructed when Florence was renewed for its new role of capital of Italy. It has 31 rooms (some with 3 and 4 beds), contemporary furnished, all with en suite bathroom and many with air condition. Many, especially on the higher floors, have a spectacular view of the city. At the top of the building there is a beautiful terrace, with a very original view of the Duomo. Part of this terrace is has been covered into a nice veranda where breakfast is served in the morning and where guests may enjoy incredible sunsets having a drink. Great experience at the Panorama. It was our first time to florence and with so much to see/do over the 3 days, we only needed a bed to sleep in at night and clean towels which the hotel provided. It pretty much does everything it says on the tin, clean room, cheap price and a good location. Its about 10 minutes walk from Duomo and 15/20 to the Uffuzi which makes a nice little walk in the morning/evening to and from the hotel and around 20 mins through the centre to the train station. The hotel staff were helpful when needed and I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are touring florence on a budget for a few days and just need a bed to sleep in for the right price and location.

A RECOMMANDER...

Gutes zentral gelegenes Stadthotel

  • Anonymous
  • Oct 22, 2012

This hotel is a great value! It is a short walk (maybe a 10 min. walk) from the center of the city. The room was spotless and spacious. The shower was great. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. There is also parking on the grounds for a small fee. However there is no restuarant. We enjoyed our stay very much.

What a perfect experience!!

  • Confinity
  • Oct 2, 2012
We just got back from a week at the Relais Modern. We LOVED this place for its simplicity, amenities, friendly staff and location. Working backwards, the location is about a 5 minute walk north of the David, a few more minutes to the Duomo and about a 15 minute walk to the Arno river, but it's just outside of tourista central so that you don't walk out the door to throngs and it's very quiet at night. There is are no restaurants right outside the doors, but I count that as a plus, and there is a lovely caffe/pasticceria just a short block west, perfect for a late afternoon caffe and postcard writing while my other half napped a bit. The staff is just lovely. Alberto really takes care of you, and his concierge Bryan was a joy to see at breakfast where he lays out a nice, simple European continental breakfast of croissants (various kinds through the week, some better than others, but all good) rolls, ham, cheese, salami, yogurt, cereal, granola, juices, a sweet cake (again, various) jams, Nutella, honey, tea and/or Bryan will make you fresh caffe, Americano, latte or cappuccino, PLUS trays to take it all to your room, or they'll bring it to you if you like. The rest of the staff also impressed. Frankly, we were expecting less from such a small B&B, but they operate like a B&B/hotel, which is impressive given they only have maybe The room was spacious and clean, with a very tall window with the ubiquitous automated blinds that we came to love. The bed comfortable, there was a personal safe, and the bathroom was nearly palatial by Italian standards, with bidet, built-in towel heater and hair dryer and lovely tan marble. The Wi-Fi is free and as quick as we have at home here in NYC. The clean, simple interiors show off the art they present on their walls, and not-for-nothing the lack of clutter (shelves and an attractive built-in suitcase stand/hanging rack instead of closets/dressers) make unpacking and packing back up a breeze - no worries that we left something behind in a drawer or cupboard! Our week was just a perfect experience. We felt immediately welcome and at home in Florence and especially at the Relais Modern.

Nice Lobby but not much else!

  • Anonymous
  • Mar 17, 2010
When we walked into the hotel lobby it was beautiful, with paitings and statues strewn about in a very nicly lit and maintained floor. The receptionist was very pleasant and helpful with giving us directions to places we wanted to go see. We then walked up to our room and the pleasantries ended quickly. Upon walking in we were welcomed by an overwhelming wall of a perfume odor that we were only guessing was to mask the other odors that were hidden in the room. Our carpet was highly spotted with stains and although our room was a non-smoking room there was an ashtray proudly displayed on the table in the corner of the room. So we opened the windows to allow the room to breathe a little while we went out and saw the sights. We returned hours later and the perfume still lingered. As the noise outside our window was very loud due to heavy traffic of busses, garbage trucks, and motorcycles we closed the window, which did not do anything to dampen the noise. As our room was warm we attempted to turn the A/C on and no matter what function you used heat poured out. My wife looked in the cupboard for an extra pillow and only found 3 sets of extra blankets that were not even folded and were shoved into the cupoboard shelves leaving me to believe that they were used by previous guests. I forced myself to sleep by 8:00 P.M. so that I could leave the hotel the next morning. We ate from their breakfast buffet which was a very nice one in a very cute room off the lobby, again unlike the room we stayed in. We decided we would rather check out and wait at the train station for 2 and a half hours then to stay any longer in the hotel.I am hoping that the ratings that were provided by [...] prior to visit came from people that had much nicer rooms than our own, otherwise people have skewed ideas as to what warrants a decent hotel in europe. We stayed in many on this trip for around the same price that were amazing, in comparison this one fell way short for the same price. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

Not clean by US Standards

  • Anonymous
  • Jun 11, 2009
We had high hopes for this hotel. It had gotten great reviews in a travel guide we had and online. It's too bad, but the rooms were filthy by US standards. The carpets were disgusting, the comforters were dirty. You could see stains on the pillows and mattresses though the sheets. Overall, we were very disappointed in our room. I actually looked under the bed and found a piece of fruit and other trash, none of which was ours. They need to replace all the bedding and give it some serious attention.

A Very Enjoyable Experience

  • Nobes
  • Oct 5, 2011
After the hustle and bustle of site seeing in Florence, we looked forward to returning to the peace and quite of Hotel Panama at the end of the day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was perfect to start the day and it was only a 15-20 minute walk to the center of Florence activity. Plus, they have 4-5 bikes available for use (free of charge if available) which makes touring Florence a breeze. There are 4-5 wonderful restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. A wonderful hotel for the price with the added bonus of free wifi and off street parking (for a fee) if you travel by car.

Good Location, but Kind of Loud

  • World Roamer
  • May 31, 2010
I thought the hotel was good and the staff was really great, however it was a bit noisy. We were toward the back and there must have been a patio or something under our window because it was quite loud. Also, the Internet was SUPER slow. However, I mentioned it and hopefully they will try to fix it moving forward. All in all, a good hotel for the money. Very clean, free breakfast. Stay here if you don't mind a 15 min walk into town and try to get a front room!

Here are the details you won't get elsewhere

  • Airline Pilot Dad
  • Sep 17, 2012
Overall, I my 20 year old daughter and I had a good experience at the hotel. I booked the room the morning we arrived - it was the cheapest available online in all of Zurich. The highlight was the morning staff! We arrived at 1000 and our room was not ready yet (their check in policy is I think 14 or 1500). The young lady who spoke perfect English took time to give us detailed recommendations and instructions on places to visit, and stored our bags in the front office while we toured old-town Zurich. I am an airline pilot and I stay in hotels hundreds of times a year. I pay close attention to details. Our room was on the second floor. There is a SMALL elevator, but it delivers you to the base of the six steps up to the room (you must carry your bags up steps, regardless of the elevator). The room itself was small (about 4mx4m). There are no chairs in the room, but instead two stools. There is no closet, but instead large hanging rods with hangars available. The view from the window is of a neighborhood and parking lot. The walls are painted white, but one was a vivid purple. There are overhead lights (not common in American hotels) and wall lamps. There was a large mirror situated next to a small flat screen TV on the wall (the remote did not work (we operated it manually). The twin sized beds utilize a memory foam mattress which both my daughter and I found comfortable. They have a computer in the lobby for internet and free wifi available. There is no air conditioning, but we did not need it in mid-September. The hotel is located in somewhat of a sketchy part of town, but that also lent to lower costs for food. There is a bar around the corner next to the bus stop, and a "take-away" fast food place across the street. I expected to find homeless people or grifters in the neighborhood, but there were none. The hotel is located four stops from the main rail station; it's a walk-able distance, but not with baggage. Public transportation in Zurich is amazing, and the hotel is well situated to take advantage of it. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay there again, but don't expect American resort amenities.

Easy check in with the confirmation number. Friendly staff. The room wasn't ready but the service lady worked quickly and looked for us when our rooms were ready. The room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast choices were good and adequate to satisfy anyone. The only weird things: you have to call from your room to have the air conditioning turned on remotely and there isn't any way to regulate it; wi-fi is available but not free, I only could access it in the corridor but not from in my room (319).

  • May 25, 2010

Breakfast for the first two days was a little more hearty, but after the tour from Germany left it became a little more Spartan, but there was still enough to fill you up. Floors in room were tile and needed to be cleaned/mopped as you could notice it on a a pair of white socks. 15 minute walk to the Dumo. Staff was very helpful. 10 mins to the Academia.

A friendly English speaking hotel

  • May 19, 2011
A friendly English speaking hotel in Florence. They also make machine coffee at your request (capuccino, latter, etc) for breakfast instead of a stale "American" coffee! About 10 min walk from the train station (no point getting a taxi), and close to all tourist attractions. Good value if booking on HotelClub.

Florence is the best place in Italy to stay, you are centraly located and able to see the other cities in ease. The train station is only a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. The staff were very nice and helpful when asked for suggestions. I would definetly sugest checking out Za Za's restorant, the food was excellent as was the staff. The hotel has a great location, everything in Florence is within walking distance.I also recommend the outlet and Chianti tours offered by CAF travel. The only negative experiences were that if we left the sign to not disturb the room the cleaning people would enter and clean our room anyway; the "buffet breakfast" consisted only of 4 items (which were the same daily); and the free internet was only available in the lobby and not in the rooms.

The quality of Plus Florence is more of a hotel than a hostel. I booked a private room with two friends and we ended up getting a huge room with a small kitchen and our own private bathroom! The hostel also had an information desk that was helpful when finding out what to do in Florence. Highly recommended!

Our stay in Plus Florence

  • Jennie Wicked
  • Sep 17, 2012
We were a little disappointed by Plus Florence. I'd read some really good reviews about the place and was expecting something much better. I have stayed in much nicer hostels, perhaps our room just wasn't as good as some of the dorms as it was a private one. The bed wasn't the most comfortable and it felt like we were sleeping in an office due to the roof tiles and the lighting! Also 2 out of 3 of the plug sockets weren't available for use so it meant hair drying/straightening was done without a mirror and charging phones had to just hang from a height! The bathroom however was really nice although the toilet seat didn't appear to fit properly! The breakfast was very average so we went elsewhere on the 2nd day. Florence is a beautiful city with lots to do. The location of the hostel was great and I could sense it would have been good for young backpackers. Maybe it just wasn't suitable for couples! The pool was a lot smaller than I expected and also quite cold! I thought the place was also quite scruffy in parts.

This is a good choice for those who want a no frills but nice and clean hotel at a good price. It is a typical Italian hotel (ceramic tiles, cold bathroom, hard beds, need to turn in your kyes at the counter, etc.), but it is spacious. The service is generally good, bit it is no frills. The breakfast is better than most Italian hotels. It is a good choice for the price. It is a bit north of the center of city but is in a nice residential area. In sum, it is no Sheraton or the like, but if you want a better than average Italian hotel at a good price, it is worth considering.

Wonderful Peace and Quiet

  • Tom-R
  • Apr 19, 2011
I had previously stayed at the Andrea Hotel a couple of years ago and was very pleased. It's a small, very traditional tourist-type hotel, located on a lovely piazza rather near the train station. The location is ideal. Most of the rooms look out onto the piazza with a commanding view of the historic part of the city. While the rooms are quite small, it's the wonderful peace and quiet in the middle of a very busy area which brings me back. Their breakfast is quite nice though not lavish. I recommend the hotel for your tourist dollar well spent.

It can be reached from the city centre and the central station by car or by public transport in only a few minutes; the area is easy to park in, and the hotel also has an arrangement with a nearby private garage. All the rooms in the Hotel have a private bathroom, colour TV, telephone, safe deposit, hairdryer and air conditioning. The villa is enhanced by a large terrace, and by an enchating garden, where one may enjoy a lavish breakfast or a pleasant drink. Stylishly decorated, with period furniture and paintings, the Hotel retains the name given to it by its founder, a Hungarian gentlewoman, some of whose personal historic effects survive (such as the coatofarms of the AustroHungarian monarchy, and the portraits of the prince, and Hungarian hero, Ferenc II Rakoczi, and Elizabeth "Sissi", the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary).

Description
The main characteristic of the B&B Casa Schlatter is that of being not only a comfortable accommodation facility for a fine tourist who wants to visit Florence lodging with an antique, luxury residence but also a real museum. During their stay the guests can enjoy the vision of many original pieces of C. Adolfo Schlatter, painter and sculptor, realized in these rooms and never taken out of the house. You will then have the chance to discover the hidden treasure of a great artist, who lived and worked at the end of the 19th century still unknown by the wide public; you will be also surrounded by the artistic atmosphere of Florence, a city full of wonders. You will then have the chance to discover the story and beauty of Casa Schlatter: the uniqueness of the bedrooms, each one in its own different style, the relax and peace of the house garden, the warm welcome of Alessandra, the owner, without forgetting the ease of being in a strategic position for your stay in Florence. The Bed &Breakfast is in a building dated back to the beginning of the 20th century. The Swiss painter Carlo Adolfo Schlatter built it. The artist, belonging to the Florentine artistic scene of that time among Decadents, Macchiaioli and Symbolists, employed it as studio and home, after his family moved to Italy at the beginning of the 1800. Still owned by his descendant, the house has been restored carefully in order to maintain the original atmosphere although all modern comforts have been added. The walls are decorated by big pictures, which represent Florence as it used to be, and these are part of the works of the artist; statues and other precious objects enrich the atmosphere, completely provided with antique furniture. Two bronze dragons guard the house from the roof...in a few words you can breath a very unique atmosphere, and the guests can have a very pleasant and relaxing stay because of the house position: it lies at the foot of the hills of Fiesole, a few minutes away from the centre of Florence. The house has three double rooms, each one with their own independent bathroom. The biggest room has an intermediate floor and can accommodate up to four people. Breakfast is served in the small private garden, or in the big hall always available to the guests. Alessandra is the artist's great gran-child and she takes care of the hospitality; she is always happy to satisfy her costumers' needs, making their stay pleasant with typical local dishes in a warm, cozy atmosphere.
