We (2 of us) were in a small, economy room. Yes, it was small, but we did get used to the limited space. Otherwise, everything was excellent and the people at the desk were always helpful and friendly. The location was great, with most places of interest within walking distance.

We loved the views from the garden terrace; I believe we were lucky enough to get the only room that opened onto the terrace as well! We were away from the street side so it was incredibly quiet as well. The common space was gorgeously retro, and we enjoyed coffee and wine in the bar throughout the day. Although we were told we would have to pay for internet access we had a bit of trouble accessing it and especially logging off of it, so the charge never appeared on our bill. In fact, on departure, the only charges we received totalled 11 euro, including 2 glasses of wine for 3 each while we waited for our room to be cleaned (we arrived earlier than expected) and 5 for corkage when we opened our own bottle on the terrace! The included breakfast was ample & fabulous, including endless free cappucini, with foam so stiff you had to eat it with a spoon!

The Monna Lisa with two ns is an experience, the room was just ok but the hotel was like right out of the middle ages. Good Breakfast spread,no clocks in rooms, they give you one little piece of soap that you transport to the shower when needed, came back to no airconditioning, they turned it on from central control after I complained it is also temperature limited as well. same with the TV volume.Great Location and the best restraunt in the world is just down the street and to the left, reservations absolutely required.Breakfast waiters were very friendly but the desk clerks not really, they are just putting up with you and their English is not top notch.

We were very happy to stay here after doing research on the web to gain insight into the ratings and location of several hotels. What a delight!

Laurus Hotel is situated right in the center of the Duomo, close proximity to everything including all the restaurants and attractions. This hotel is ideal to everything including the train station which is about a 10-15minute walk. Save yourself the 10 euro taxi drive!. The view of the Duomo at the hotels rooftop was spectacular. We did not opt to pay for breakfast but staff allowed us for free coffee and pastries while we were on the rooftop. I was not particularly impressed with the staff. They were somewhat cold- they definitely need to be more helpful & a little bit more friendly. We were surprised some nights that the front office is manned by a skeleton crew & sometimes no one at the front desk. The hotel location & cleanliness definitely made up for staff's lack of hospitality & PR!

The first room we were given was very inconvenient with the wardrobe on one floor and the bed at the top of a spiral staircase. There was no window with natural light and the room was unbearably hot with no means of adjusting it. Upon making a complaint however we were given a better room although not what I would expect from a first class hotel. The breakfast was no more than adequate and not included and overpriced.
These things are compensated for by the excellent location, however not a 'four star'

There's something very pleasing about being served by waiters in white coats first thing in the morning; and the little touches like a design in the foam of our cappuccino were what set this hotel above the bar. On top of that, the front desk staff was exceptionally accomodating and helped us take care of a pressing issue upon our arrival. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bathrooms were beautiful. The location was excellent, right on the banks of the Arno and only a minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Florence.

This was such a pleasant surprise. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as it almost sounded too good to be true... The staff was friendly and very helpful. The apartment was immaculate and comfortable. The location puts you truly at the heart of Florence.
I am looking forward to visiting Florence again next year, and there is no chance that i will stay anywhere else but the Palazzo Gamba.

Great Location, Nice Room, Helpful and Informative Staff
-
Gryphonisle
- Nov 12, 2012
The Kursaal and Ausonia hotel was a delightful spot from which to explore Florence, conveniently located to both the train and the sights, yet still fairly quiet.
Our two night stay was in early November, so the weather was pleasant, but we still had to close the windows due to mosquitos, something that would be an issue in the hot days of summer, with no AC.
The room was pleasantly if sparsely furnished; nice antique-feeling rustic wooden pieces, and a glazed tile floor, albeit with no carpet.
What I didn't like was minor, but stupid enough to irritate. A double bed here is two twins under one sheet. Not comfortable if you aren't the couple who sleeps in the middle of your own space. The tiny, tiny, elevator probably explains this, but really: Carry a full size mattress up the stairs!
The other irritant is what passes for WiFi. It's a deal at E15. for 30 days, but only until you use it. At times it leaps to a page with the alacrity we expect from the Web, then you go to another page and the server is lost because it takes so long to make the connection. Streaming? Ha! Either do away with the WiFi offer, or get a credible system, it's no amenity to have something that doesn't work.
That said, the shower was comfortably sized, the water pressure and hot water fine and consistent. Walls are paper thin, which could be an issue but not when we were there.
And, if you get a third floor room on the back (we had #15) you'll delight in a Hollywood-quality view of Il Duomo over the rooftops of the picturesque homes, below.
We very much enjoyed our stay here and would return.

The hotel was very easy to get to, only a 10 minute walk from SMN train station. We had to leave our stuff there but they were willing to accommodate our luggage and even put it in the room when it was ready as we were not going to be around at that time. the hotel was simple, but good. On a budget it is a highly recommended place to go. The service was good. the room was okay, the breakfast was alright. not a five start but definitely a decent place to crash for a few nights in Florence.

This hotel is located on the Via Calzaiuoli, which is the main shopping street in downtown Florence. It is almost equidistant from the Duomo and the Piazza della Signoria (each are about a two-minute walk) and literally right next door to "COIN", which is the leading department store in Florence. It is also only a block away from the Piazza della Republica, a favorite spot to dine for American tourists. The breakfast is superb with wonderful service from two quite gracious women; if you are there off season, you are likely to hear four or five different languages from the clientele, who are mostly staying in Florence on business trips. There is virtually no noise in the hotel, since it is in the pedestrian area of the inner city, where no auto traffic is allowed. Highly recommend this hotel; if we return to Florence, it will undoubtedly receive our business once again.

Perfect Location for the Tourist in You
-
Nomad3
- Jun 5, 2012
The major advantage to this hotel is the prime location. It is very close (easy walking distance) to the Duomo, Uffizi, and city center. Parking opportunities are few and far between in Florence and overall driving can be daunting due to narrow streets and ZTLs. That said, Hotel Paris offers valet parking in their own garage for a fee, pricing depends on the size of your car. This leaves you to walk about with no worries about your personal/rental car. The only minor disadvantage would be that it takes about 30 minutes to get your car back should you need it. Additionally, they offer a luggage storage space that allows you to check out at the appropriate time, but leave any luggage so that you may continue to explore without having to worry about checkout times. The storage space is not kept under lock and key, but it is close to the front desk; use your judgment and bring a lock for your suitcase if preferred. Pet friendly hotel. Decent European breakfast included. Provided a free map of the city center with major locations listed upon checkin. Friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.

Empfehlenswert!

At first they put us in a room too far away from the center of the hotel, and when asked about a change, they did it right away and sent someone to help. THE best location in Florence!
-
MI Honeymooners
- Aug 30, 2010
If you want the absolutely best location in Florence, the Hermitage Hotel is it! This hotel is definitely a little known gem since the cab driver had to ask the policemen on the corner near Ponte Vecchio where it was, and they didn't even know, even though they were only 10 yards from it! After getting past the check-in procedure, which was a little awkward being on the 5th floor, we got into our room and fell in love with the cute antique furniture, the great view of the street (Ponte Vecchio was blocked out by the Corridoio Vasariano), and the awesome bathroom with a huge jacuzzi tub! This was all great compared to typical European rooms. The view from the rooftop veranda was spectacular! The hotel is nice and secure at night with two locked doors, and a security code to enter the elevator. We always felt safe. The only disappointment really was the limited breakfast offering they had. This is not a 5-star hotel, but it is a great deal for the cost, and in a great location, if I haven't mentioned that yet. We will plan to stay here again when we return to Florence!

A Lesson in Doing Your Homework
-
AmandaX
- Feb 29, 2012
Let me preface what I am about to say by letting you know that I did not necessarily have a bad time here, but I did get a completely different experience than what I was expecting. I read only a few reviews and looked briefly at their website. I thought, for the price and location, and based on the good reviews I read, that it would be perfect. And by no means was the CHGH flawed in any way, it was just a complete surprise. Here are the facts:
This is NOT a hotel. It is more like a themed bed and breakfast.
The "Play Room" has a rock wall (awesome) and pictures of clowns on the wall of the bedroom (alarming).
All the rooms have a theme.
It is perfectly clean and comfortable (once you take the pictures that make you uncomfortable off the wall and stow them safely away in the corner, facing the wall)
Best shower I have ever used in Italy.
Think that sums it up. Just make sure you know what you're getting into when you walk in to the Casa Howard. They are friendly and super accomodating, but it is a different kind of experience. The location is amazing though, and they even have bottles of wine available for purchase on every floor. Drink up!

O chão do quarto provoca vibração nas mobílias, o que se torna um pouco incomodativo.
O pequeno-almoço não tem produtos frescos.
O duche na casa-de-banho é fixo, parece de um balneário de um ginásio.

THE HOTEL SENT ME TO ANOTHER HOTEL.

THE HOTEL SENT ME TO ANOTHER HOTEL. Oh, I'd heard a
Here are things I can still review on Hotel Medici:
first of all, when i arrived late at night, the attitude of the receptionist was nice. And later i went in again, to clear out some confusion, that owner's attitude was nice also.
second of all, I think it looks more like a hostel by appearance.
third of all, the location is great. close to the Duomo.
(Nonethelss, Hotel Constantini, to which i was transferred, had an even better location.)
extra info: A customer came down, asking for hot drinking water, and the receptionist told him no. The reason he gave was that it was too late. and it was around 11.
This is not a very useful review of the hotel itself.
However, I don't think I would book this hotel again. Since they transfer their client without the client's consent in advance.
But I wasn't angry b/c the other hotel wasn't bad anyway.

The hotel is located perfectly. You can even walk from train station though it is a good walk. But all ends there. The breakfast is awful. Coffee undrinkable. Drain for shower is in middle of bathroom and it does not drain easily. The key to the room does not always work. But the staff is nice and helpful. Take your pick. Nice to awaken to the Giotto belfry chimes.

The location was awesome, just steps away from Ponte Vecchio. I loved the breakfast that was included in our stay. The dinning Terrace at the top of the hotel is better than the pictures posted on the web site, you have to check out the view from the terrace at night. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. If you are from The United States, do not let the size of the room through you off . Most hotel rooms in Italy are fairly small, thats just the way it is.
