Great place to stay. We only had one night and the room was comfortable and clean. Staff seemed a little short with us. But they got the job done and would easily stay there again.

I booked this hotel because of its location. It was a perfect place to stay while we were in Dublin for 2 nights. The room was comfortable, we had our own bathroom, and the first floor bar/restaurant was really neat. At night, there is free Irish music and dancing, and the restaurant also provides a good breakfast in the morning. The room wasn't anything special, but it's what we expected. One of our mattresses was very comfortable, while one of them wasn't and there was no a/c, but there was a fan provided. Also note, because of the location, at night, the street can be quite noisy, but it didn't keep us up. Overall, if we went back to Dublin, we would stay here again.

Overall, this was a good hotel and a great hotel for families. It's a 20 minute walk to the City Center but you can catch the tram, which is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. It's something to keep in mind if you enjoy walking around town and like to go back to your hotel for a break. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were clean. If I were to go back to Dublin, I'd probably pay more to stay at the Radisson or splurge on the Westbury Hotel.

Croke Park Stay

- Nov 10, 2012
We just returned from a 7 night stay at the Croke Park Hotel. The staff could not have been any nicer. The hotel rooms were large and very comfortable and very quiet. We arrived at the hotel at 10 pm and had not had any dinner, we went into the lounge for a nightcap, and when we asked about food the kitchen stayed open so that we could have a meal. It was not expected and very much appreciated. The location is not the best but we had no trouble getting a cab and there was an excellent restaurant within easy walking distance (Italian food and excellent). I received a friendly greeting every morning from the housekeeping staff and front desk. I would highly recommend this hotel

I got a very good flight and hotel deal. I chose the Gibson because of favourable reviews higher, first stop on airport express buses and Luas tram terminal outside the hotel taking you fast to and form city centre till well after midnight.
Hotel met all expectations. It is very stylish but this is not (as in some other hotels) at the expense of practicality. Room was spacious and comfortable and very quiet, with good blackout curtains - we slept well. It opened on to a 3rd floor open courtyard. Plenty of storage space, good lighting. Free wifi worked well. Toiletries nice, basic tea and coffee provided (no biscuits or snacks).
There were a few minor points that could improve and as a result I can't quite give a 5 though it would get at least 4.5:
- In the bedroom the information booklets are in a sunken 'drawer' with a glass lid to access. The glass lid is heavy and painful when it falls on your hand, as I discovered. The lid in our room did not stay open even when lifted fully.
- The information booklet is full of items for which they invite you to call 'guest relations'. We never saw anyone on the 'guest relations desk and the extension was answered, after a very long time, by a busy receptionist. The information she gave us was actually wrong in several ways. For example 'Catch the Luas to O'Connell Street' - there is no stop called O'Connell Street, you need to alight at the Abbey Street stop to get to O'Connell Street. Visitors might not know that.
- There was a frosted glass panel between the bedroom and bathroom. This means that if the bathroom light is put on (essential to use a windowless room), the light will shine into the bedroom and may disturb anyone trying to sleep.
- The tap water really didn't taste that good. A complimentary bottle in the room marked 'sparkling' (or 'carbonated') turned out to be filled with tap water - why bother?

Spent 11 nights at The Gibson while visiting our daughter during her summer internship in Dublin. If this hotel is typical of new hotel construction in Europe, then they are ahead of the USA in environmentally sustainable hotel building practices. Perfect location at The Point Depot for taking the affordable light rail tram (Luas) into the center of Dublin and first-stop round trip bus transportation from Dublin Airport (via AirCoach--purchase online in advance).
The standard room is a good size, with excellent foam top mattress, nice clean duvet with covering that is changed for each new guest, and an amazing shower. The frosted glass window between the bedroom and shower is to allow natural light into an otherwise windowless bathroom. We were there a day before we discovered a second built-in closet (next to the hall door) for additional hanging clothes that also contained a digital safe for valuables. Ask for a room price plan that includes the full Irish breakfast buffet. More items than one could want at a 15 Euro cost per person--if not included in the plan.

This hotel is right in the middle of the trendy temple bar area. You will be able to walk out your door and easily get to anything you want to do. No need for a cab if you stay here. If you have a car, ask them where to park, its called the Fleet St Garage and its 1/2 price.
The only negative is that the room is really small, plain and barren, but who cares, you are in Dublin! Room was clean and plenty for us! I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

I went with a friend to check out the city. We're 30 and single so loved a good night out on the town, but certainly not 21 anymore. It's a decently close walk, but luckily not so close that it was in the middle of the madness/noise of the nightlife. Hotel staff was extremely friendly. Accommodated our request for a room in the back of the building with separate beds for my friend and I. Room was clean and included hairdryer (very important). Parking is about 14 euro a day in garage. Breakfast is not included, but can be added for 9 euro a day.

The hotel staff was not well-trained. We had to ask for cutlery for example. They did not have chicken although the menu contained a lot of meals which contain chicken. We gave our voucher for the breakfast and they asked for it again after 5 minutes. They definitely need some trainig. Looks like never have done this job before.
Anyway the location is perfect. The room was OK. The food was also good.

I had a very brief stay in Dublin, and the Castle Hotel fit my needs perfectly. The staff were incredibly helpful (including assistance with charting out a bicycling route), and the food at the restaurant was terrific. The location can't be beat, putting you within walking (or bicycling!) distance of all of the key things to see. I would definitely stay here again!

You will be engulfed in the feeling of royalty. The concierge was wonderful and you can place your uncertainty about plans in their capable hands as they do everything in their power to smooth out any kinks you may have. We would highly recommend. The only reason we put 4 stars by the location is because you need to catch a bus or taxi into town. If you don't mind Dublin transit, and you shouldn't because they are most professional and efficient, you can catch a bus right around the corner from the hotel and ride into town for 2.15 euro each. This is much better than the 15.00euro to Trinity College area. You can pay 20 euro each for 2 days of Hop On/Hop Off bus rides and go all over the city in comfort and with a fully narrated (historical and somewhat humorous) guided tour with a map of each numbered stop and just get off and on when it suits you. It rained some, so to keep from walking in the torrential rain, we hopped on the bus and rode a while. Well worth it. The hotel is quiet and away from the noise and you will be jetted back into time and feel like you are in the 1830's but in romantic comfort. The pub is grand as well as the food is marvelous!

I emailed them that we would be arriving early and they said they would try to have our room available. It was and it allowed us to take a nap before exploring Dublin. We had some trouble with the elevator until a front desk lady explained the key to us. Plenty of laughs with that. Staff members were very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel. The bar food was fine and so was the breakfast but we usually ate elsewhere and had breakfast at a little shop directly across from the hotel. Hotel is a short walk to the tour bus and O'Connell Street. We did have to pay for wi-fi so that was the only con to our stay.

This hotel has great location, good staff, and a nice lounge area. Also, it has some slum views from the windows, slamming, creaking bathroom doors, radiators that don't work, and loud, obnoxious "hen" parties. But, by U.S. standards, it was quite inexpensive.

A group of five travelled to Dublin and arrived at the hotel early Sunday morning, the staff were helpful with holding our bags until rooms were ready to be checked in, they also gave us advise on things we could do whilst we waited for the room.
Location was excellent, all sights were within walking distance and rooms are what you expect from a jury's inn. When we first entered the rooms we found them very cold, the staff were helpful enough to bring us up heater to resolve that issue.
We had a brilliant trip and a lot of this was down to our perfect location would def go again

It's in a good location with a bus stop right outside the hotel that will take you right into the centre of Dublin. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The bar food was not very nice. I was told at reception that guests were entitled to a 15% discount if they ate in the bar but this was not the case and the bar staff were not very helpful. Overall my experience was good and the hotel is value for money but I would not recommend eating at the hotel.

The hotel was overall great! There were a couple of minor issues.
Everything was super except their clerk kept forgetting to put our wake up calls in the computer. It was one particular clerk. The rest did great.
Also their was something funky with their internet. We could not authenticate on our server for email while we were their.

The Mercantile has had an association with Dames Street and Dublin city center since the early 19th century. Scottish insurance company North British & Mercantile Insurance who had offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Calcutta opened their first Irish office on Dames Street in 1835. Dames Street was at that time the commercial and political center of Ireland and all major financial institutions had premises on the street. This was preceded by the Mercantile Credit Company of Ireland that continued the financial tradition of the Mercantile until 1962.

This hotel is a good bargain with a great location. It is located approximately 1/2 block from the main Dublin tour office, a great place to get info and arrange tours (the tour buses stop at the office).
Everything you need is close by (Starbucks, banks, bus routes, and the Dublin Castle). It's all right next to the hotel.
We forgot some items when we checked out and when we returned to Dublin to fly out, the staff had it conveniently packaged and waiting for us.
There is a great restaurant/bar in the hotel.

The hotel is great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are only 28 rooms so they really do try to get to know you. Its located within walking distance of most of the tourist attractions. There is a bus stop less than 100m down the street (for both city and hop on hop off tours). The restaurant is nice; limited menu but good food and excellent service. The bar is great with decent drink prices (for the temple bar area) and live music.
It is easy walking distance to temple bar (bar area) and Grafton Street (pedestrian [no cars] shopping street). Plenty of restaurants and shops in the area.
As mentioned before, it is located in the middle of the action; so if you are an early to bed sort of person this may not be the place for you as it may be louder than you like with the music and people.
Otherwise stay out with them and help create the noise!
I hope they have vacancies next time I'm in Dublin!
