The Gateway staff were all very welcoming and attentive. The hotel has attractive room that are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. The restaurant is very good for breakfast or dinner, and the grounds are an attractive oasis in the chaos of Agra. The area around the hotel can be loud at night but that is the tradeoff for having a view of the Taj Mahal. We would definitely stay there again.

A taxa de cambio e correta, a melhor que encontramos.
Servi'co de quarto bom, fomos prontamente atendidos quando pedimos toalhas extras e refeicao no quarto.
Recomendamos por ter uma boa relacao custo-beneficio, um lugar correto.

ein älteres Hotel, bei gutem Wetter mit Sicht aufs Taj Mahal. Das Frühstück war gut, aber nichts besonderes. Allerdings auch für weniger experimentierfreudige Europäer ist auf jeden Fall genug Auswahl geboten. Die Einrichtung ist etwas altmodisch und wirkt daher etwas "schwerer". Generell eine gute Option mit vernüftigem Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis.

In general the hotel is OK, but I booked through here what was described as a "Taj view room" and when I showed at the hotel they told me I had a standard room. They even showed a printout of a local travel agency stating that I had a "standard" room booked. No way I could make them agree, even showing my internet confirmation. At the end, they "upgraded" me to a deluxe room "on their behalf", but with no view. By the way, it isn't worth to book a Taj view room, the Taj is far and partially obstructed. Don't pay for it.

The view is just so wonderful....although Taj is a little further away than I thought it would be - you would be very unfortunate too....but it does happen a few days before us was thick fog - no view of Taj at all!
The smiles and uniforms of the staff are so gorgeous.
The only things that let a hotel like this down - supposed to be one of the best were. - lack of atmosphere in the bar, no piano, nothing, very still, quiet and empty! - Also every drink either in bar or on terrace, same, same, crisp and nut - would think they could be a little more exciting a varied. Also - although the breakfast restaurant had hardly any people in it the service -- i.e getting toast was slow - but perhaps I just expect everything quickly - relaxing in not my game!!
They are tiny things but would of been nice.
- This hotel is the only hotel ever where I have been taken to my room to check in - and after a 6 hour hair raising drive from New Delhi - that was fantastic.
Overall - I will just remember the beautiful friendly smiles that were so genuine :-)

We are American ex-pats living in Mumbai & this was our 1st trip to Agra. After a 6hr drive from Delhi to Agra, our suite was a wonderful way to relax & recoup from 2 days of traveling. There were nice little touches like goldfish swimming in the corner & rose petals spread around the room. The staff were helpful without being too overbearing & the grounds were beautiful. Rather expensive charges for wi-fi access. A great variety b/w the diff restaurants within the hotel, but walking distance to local options. We wanted a quick, light dinner that ended up taking almost 2 hrs, but the food was good. The wait-staff refused to let us take our leftovers back to the room with us & I would have liked to have been notified of that policy before ordering. It was frustrating (but comical) to be told that we couldn't take half of a club sandwich with us because "with eggs next to meats - it could be very dangerous! I'm sure you understand... anything could happen!"

I spent one night at Agra. This hotel is just an unbelievable good place in such a typical and historical Indian city. It is very clean and well kept, compared with the other places i have stayed in Indian, the condition there is extremely good. The staff are all very nice, there is even welcome reception for the guests, which is very sweet. If you are looking for a pleasant stay, especially you are concerned about the cleanness, this is the first choice. The stay makes me much much comfort during the entire Indian trip. The only complain i can think of is the bed is a little hard for me.

Not the greatest place in the world... rooms were clean aside from the quantity of dead mosquitos in the bathroom. Proximity to the road makes it a bit noisy. Very convenient for us who had a 6am train from Agra Cantt station, but otherwise is pretty far from the main Agra attractions. And still >$60/night! For $70/night we stayed the first night in Agra right near the East gate at a trendy new hotel with a great rooftop view.
The restaurant leaves quite some to be desired as well. Food is actually very good (Tandoori here produced our 1st healthy butter/oil free meal in India), but prices here are 30-40% higher than other hotels/restaurants. As a reference, water sells for 60rps here vs. 20 at other joints. Nevertheless, good if you have an early morning train (not may tuk-tuks at that hour) since can walk to AGC in 10mins.

Even on the top floor, this is a noisy hotel. Overall needs updating; linens shabby. Took front desk 10 minutes to find my reservation, even though they had the confirmation in my phone in their hand and my passport. Housekeeping is the worst part: previous guests' partly-used amenities had been left in room and roaches in the bathroom. Restaurant food average.

Agra experience without the hassle

Hotel was not bad by Indian standards, room was spacious & clean though very basic. The rooftop restaurant was the main attraction for me, though also basic it did indeed have a clear view of the Taj without unsightly buildings interfering....mostly treetops, and the food for the one lunch I had there was very enjoyable. The staff were also friendly & helpful without being pushy which for Agra is indeed a bonus

There were more things wrong with this hotel than could reasonably be written down, and yet it still managed to be a great place to stay. The staff were very helpful (especially Ricky the waiter), the view of the Taj is lovely, the bed was comfy, and the food was pretty good. My tips to anyone staying here would be not to expect too much (it is after all very cheap), and not to leave anything sweet lying around because there are tiny miniature ants that find their way in if you do. I would definitely stay here again - overall a very good experience.
