A Hidden Gem

  • Sharon from Philadelphia
  • Apr 13, 2011
This little boutique hotel, tucked away on busy Mitropoleos Street between Syntagma and Monastiraki Squares was the perfect place to hang our hats while spending the week in Athens. The location was very convenient for walking to many good sites and museums, eating and shopping. But, the real gem is the hotel itself. It was very clean and the staff was very accommodating. Dorina Stathopoulou, the owner, was there every morning at breakfast in ther restaurant on the second floor asking everyone about their plans for the day and guiding us in any way we needed. But the best place of all is the hotel's rooftop patio, with it's breathtaking view of the Acropolis and the city of Athens. I think it was too early in the season for the bar up there to be open, but many folks just brought up their own spirits, or coffee (in Greece, there is always time for coffee, and their just happens to be a Starbucks about a block away). It was the perfect place to watch the sunset and just relax after a hard day of sightseeing and museum hopping. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Athens. My only suggestion to you would be to ask for a room facing the Acropolis. We over looked Mitropoleos on a lower level floor and it was quite noisy when we had the balcony door open.

At first when the taxi drove through back streets we thought "Oh my God what have we come to". However when we arrived we found an excellent little new hotel, clean, and welcoming staff. The Manager even arranged brerakfast when we had our watches incorrect. An excellent location, a short walk to everything.

First time to Greece and Athens.

First time to Greece and Athens. ( stayed from 31st apr 2010 until 4th June 2010) We were kinda unlucky coz there was strike almost everyday due to the economic problems Greece was facing. There was smells of urine almost at all coridors and also along the road/pathways to the hotel with many jobless foreigners loitering along the pathway that was dimly lit at nite. Really scary and felt unsafe each time we pass the pathway towards our hotel. Would not recommend this hotel. Rooms and breakfast were just ok.

Old hotel which doesn't seem to have been renovated for a while. It's certainly the first price but doesn't inspire a great confidence. The elevators are dangerous; and furthermore when I arrived in this hotel, a man was having a shoot of heroine 2 meters from me.

Texans in Athens

  • Pao2011
  • May 1, 2012
We had a comfortable stay at Titania Hotel, got 2 single beds together which worked perfectly for us, the bathroom was small but clean. The room had a funny smell (sewery-like) every time we entered it, Im guessing the pipes in the city are really old or need some fixing. After we put the A/C for a few minutes, the smell kind of went away. Good breakfast starting at 6:30am, very convenient. Location is great but make sure to always walk left towards the center (Syntagma square) as the opposite direction (right) takes you to Omonia Square which is not recommended for turists. The staff was friendly and acommodating. Bar downstairs has good selection of desserts and the bar tender and waitress are super friendly.

Good Location

Went to Athens in Dec 2011.... The location of the Hotel is very good. You can walk to the Acropolis and Plaka or many other places in the town center. Is located in one of the main avenues of the city and near two subway stations. If you plan to use the subway I would recommend to get off in the Panepistimio Station and not in the Omonia Station. The first one I think its safer and more tourist friendly. The rooms are ok.... regular comfort. The wi-fi is not included, you can buy a package for a few days or a few hours..... but keep in mind that is extra charge. The breakfast is included and is an american menu (eggs, bacon, cereal, juice ,bread) it was good. Overall is a good hotel in a very good location with fair prices.

Good value option.

We stayed here for literally 7 hours in between a flight and a boat. This place was amazing value (31.00GBP) and is close to the metro station. The room was tiny, as was the bathroom. Possibly the smallest I've ever been in but the aircon worked, it was clean and it was just for sleeping. Free and superbly fast internet. For all that, it was exactly what we wanted.
