5/2/2011 Good news - floors 1 and 2 are being renovated.! Went to this hotel early as our tour was also staying there. We were placed in a room that was sub standard. However, this week, they started major renovations on the two previously unrenovated floors of the hotel. The other floors are quite nice, as we were later placed on these floors as part of the tour. The staff was very helpful. They even made us a box breakfast to take to the airport. The location is easily within walking distance from the Acropolis, the new museum and the Plaka.

Acropolis Ami Boutique Hotel is a quaint hotel that, although isn't located in the center of the Athens and the monuments, is close enough that you can walk where you want in a reasonable amount of time (or take the metro station, only 1 stop away from the acropolis). The staff is very friendly and the breakfast buffet is equivalent to a Greek home cooked meal. My hotel room had a view of the acropolis and the cleanliness of the room was good.

My husband and I only had one night in Athens, and wanted to stay within walking distance of the Acropolis. Although our room did not had a view of the Acropolis, you could go to the top floor of the hotel and enjoy an excellent view. The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms small, but clean. We were able to catch the metro to the airport only a 5 minute walk away.

New Hotel – Promises Kept

  • A Would be Athenian
  • May 22, 2012
The New Hotel Athens – situated in the shadow of the Acropolis, steps away from the Plaka, and only three blocks from the Syntagma Metro stop – will doubtlessly remain my first choice for excellence in both accommodations and services, convenience of location, and easy city living. The room was modern, immaculate, and cleverly designed. The staff was helpful but never intrusive. The breakfast was superb, as were the wait staff, who were eager to please. Our only unfortunate experience was that we waited until the last day to try the hotel's dinner menu. What we discovered was Greek dishes can be so light and appealing, while delivering on flavor and quality. The place earned my five-star rating.

Nice hotel near Acropolis

  • Travis125
  • Jan 21, 2012
I took my family to this hotel for a weekend in Athens. The food at the restaurant was surprisingly good and the staff were helpful. The lobby is very tastefully decorated. The location is within walking distance of most of the sights in Athens. The staff even arranged a babysitter for our son. Negatives would be the wifi required one to continually re-login which was annoying and the shower was not sealed well so water got all over the bathroom. The included breakfast was good but nothing to write home about.

My husband and I went to Greece for our honeymoon. The Herodion was the perfect beginning to a wonderful trip. The reception desk offered great suggestions for food and tours. The breakfast buffet was nice. The view from our window was wonderful as well the view from the terrace. Only Negative- We went it March so the weather was chilly and we wanted to take advantage of the roof terrace but it was 5 Euros to heat the hot tub for 15 minutes.

Hotel was very conveniently located near Metro Red Line Akropolis station, Akropolis Museum, restaurants recommended by Rick Steves and Lonely Planet, and the Akropolis itself. We upgradted and got a room with a very small balcony and a view of the Akropolis. Internet access was satisfactory and the breakfast was continental and adequate. Great location for Acropolis & Plaka!

  • Michele
  • Aug 1, 2011
I have lived in Greece and know Athens pretty well - this is a great hotel if you plan to see the Acropolis and surrounding area. Very walkable - and this was a plus since, of course, there was a taxi strike during our stay. The front desk was a bit short-handed but very competent. Manny the bell captain was great and set up our airport transfer which was not an easy task during the strike. Don't miss the rooftop restaurant/bar - amazing view of the Parthenon! We stayed here on both ends of our trip to the Greek islands, one night each time. 2nd stay we had a much larger (newer) room and were given complimentary wine and fruit. Definitely request one of the larger rooms that look out onto the courtyard. Some of the rooms are very small! Overall - I would stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. Overall it was a nice facility and had pretty good service. The hotel is on a tiny street that is not easy to find... even the cab drivers had a hard time. The rooms were nice and clean and the complimentary breakfast buffet had a very nice selection.

we came from a cruise and stayed one day in athens. Athens Cypria is a small hotel but in a perfect location. we did not have to take another bus or taxi to go around. acropolis was 10 minutes away and the stores around were wonderful. we had an early flight the next day, we had to leave at 4am, the hotel people prepared continental breakfast just for us. friendly staffs. we will stay there again if we ever go back to athens.

This is a boutique hotel with only about 20 rooms and is brand new. The complimentary breakfast is excellent! Crepes, fruits, eggs, cereal, croissants, breads, etc. This was the best part for us. Within walking distance to acropolis and monastraki flea market. Acropolis is free on Sundays,& the museum is closed on Mondays. We had a fridge & cd player, but no cd's or iron/board. This hotel was in the heart of the city and close to almost everything. Since in city, a little noisy in the street. The bed and pillows were super comfy - slept great!! Liked the 32" LCD tv - wish we had movies to watch, since most shows in Greek. There are no rental places here we were told, just documentaries about Athens.

Awesome swimming pool on the rooftop with an amazing view of the Acropolis. The hotel rooms, breakfast, etc.. all at the Marriott standard that i've expected and has been exceed for an hotel in Europe. But the physical location of the hotel is less than desirable. The hotel shuttle ends at 2;30pm hence you're stuck with cabs.

We had booked an additional tour and the man who checked us in knew that it was not going to run the day we had booked (we went in the off season) and took care of our arrangements so that we could go on the only day of the week the day-cruise was going. The location for walking to the main attractions of Athens (acropolis, hadrians library, agora, zeus's temple, kerameikos), souveneirs and a plethora of cafes couldn't get any better. You are right in the heart of Athens tourist culture. The downside is that you will hear a lot of road noise, get a lot of lights from the street, and smell a lot of exhaust, even when you keep you balcony door closed. The rooms were clean and included the standard toiletries and a haidrdryer. If coming from the US you will need a converter for other appliances. There are two restaurants, and the downstairs restaurant has a wonderful buffet breakfast. The upstairs restaurant is not typical of the cafe fare, but it is very delicious, although more expensive.

Great LOCATION but small standard rooms

  • G's Mom
  • Jul 24, 2011
When we arrived, I was SHOCKED at the small size of the standard room! :( It was just me and a kid (12) and we had two suitcases, 2 backpacks and a carry-on suitcase and it could all barely fit into the room! The bathroom is even smaller. You have practically NO counter space and the tub/shower has a half door so you have to maneuver well to not get water outside of the tub! :( The hotel breakfast is really nice and a great deal...you want to start your day with a good meal to make it through a day of sightseeing in Athens. The workers at the hotel are business like and stiff but are kind. If you stay at hotel, and can afford it, get a room LARGER than standard...especially if it is 2 or more people.

Hôtel très bien situé et calme (peu de bruit de ville). La terrasse où l'on sert le petit déj est formidable avec vue sur l'Acropole. Personnel très sympa et disponible. Dommage, la salle de bains est moyennageuse.

What you get with this hotel is location location location. The terraces overlook a wonderful square with restaurants and bars and a short walk to the acropolis. Maybe not a good idea if you're a light sleeper. The room is basic with the smallest bathroom I have ever seen; the staff however, were friendly and the room was clean. We really enjoyed our stay.

Busy corner, excellent service

  • Jim O
  • Oct 1, 2010
Location great for Acropolis area visits. Hotel is on the corner of two very busy streets, which contributes some traffic noise. Room was well-appointed and very clean. Decor is classic. Bed very comfortable. Free internet in the lobby waiting area; but it's still somewhat private. Staff was very helpful and there's a great restaurant (Mani Mani) around the corner.

Great location

Great location - walkable to the acropolis - and friendly staff. Somewhat pricey for the size and quality of the room, but undoubtedly all the hotels in the vicinity of the acropolis are expensive. This one was clean and modern and the a/c worked very well. 5 minute walk from the subway (recommended means of getting downtown from the airport).

Great Hotel

  • PVAL
  • Sep 15, 2011
Only spent a night at the hotel since we just came back from the islands and had an early flight the next morning. The hotel was very spacious and close to the acropolis, metro, and plaka. We were a group of 3 friends and the room was quite spacious...while the bathroom appeared clean there was an odor we could have done without and the tub was draining very slowly...things we could deal with for one night. The staff was very helpful as there was a taxi strike the night before, they called and made sure the metro to the airport was working for us. Had a great experience wish we could have been there longer to take full advantage of all it had to offer.

great location, needs techno improvements

  • Phykos
  • Sep 5, 2011
The location was great, the staff was helpful, the room although small was clean and comfortable. The only two things it needs improvement: breakfast was not included in the room and there was no wireless in the rooms. You need to pay 5 euros for 24 hours internet service wireless AT the lobby. Again, the location was fantastic, just three blocks away from the plaka, the new acropolis museum, etc.

The hotel was great. Only issue was that the location wasn't central (wasn't walking distance to sites) but they have a free shuttle that takes you to Syntagma Square. Great service, wonderful views from the top floors.
