Good hotel, but does not feel like a true five start

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We were offered an upgrade to an executive room for an additional amount and probably should have taken it, since it would have felt more like a five star. We had to pay additional for Internet service which is annoying. For many the location outside the center would be a disadvantage, but we like to walk and so we have stayed at this hotel twice. The workout facility is good and is open 24 hours, which is a plus. If you can get the breakfast buffet included do so, since it is expensive on its own.

It's very conveniently located if you want to be close to the train station (a quick walk away). You'll need to walk a bit to get to the historic area of Heidelberg although buses and trams will help with that.
Staff is very helpful and friendly, the gym is open 24 hours and the rooms and beds are very comfortable.
Breakfast is also very good.

Clean and friendly. Base price reasonable, but everything extra is expensive (4.50 Euro for a bottle of water, 17 Euro for breakfast). 10 min walk from downtown.

Stayed at this hotel with two of my friends. The hotel is quite large and very modern. They graciously brought us a third bed and d not give us a hard time since I had booked the hotel for one night different than we wanted. Would definitely stay here or at another of this brand's hotels again.

Hotel ist schnell von Autobahn und vom Hauptbahnhof erreichbar, eigenes Parkhaus muss nicht lange noch einen Parkplatz suchen, zu Fuss in 10 Minuten in der Altstadt. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, Direkt vor dem Hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights. Great location--only a short walk to the main part of town with all the shops and restaurants. The hotel had a fabulous pool/spa area that was very relaxing and wonderfully staffed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel was very clean and the staff spoke perfect English. The room was very nice and clean, and the bed was very soft. The pool area is very nice. The hot tub wasn't very hot, but it was still beauitiful and relaxing. Checkout was easy and the hotel will hold your bags after checkout, if you want to explore the city some more and don't have a place to put your bags.

The staff is god for most things except getting directions over the phone. Make sure you know where you are going ahead of time via print-out or GPS, before traveling, if you are driving. Parking a car at the hotel costs a 8 Euro/day. American-style breakfast is included. Distance to downtown is far enough to drive, but you may be better off taking the bus so you don't pay for parking downtown.

I would rate this hotel no more than two star, it was expensive with no breakfast, the building was old and in need of a referb. Rooms were small and had a damp feel(2star) No toiletries in the bathroom (1star) car parking at the hotel was €8 per day extra (1star), Internet €17 per 24hrs (this is 2010 not 1999) I visit Heidlelberg every year I would never entertain this hotel again.

In 1875 the licensed house Zum Deutschen Kaiser was opened in the countrified property of the Muehltalstrasse No 41 in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim. This happened at that time in honor of the birthday of imperator Wilhelm I. After a couple of changes of ownership and turbulent times we have taken over the Deutscher Kaiser after a complete restoration in the summer 2007. Situated in a charming section of the beautiful city of Heidelberg, The Deutscher Kaiser room we had was very clean and spacious, with plenty of room for the three of us. The hotel is a short walk to bus and tram stops. The Innkeeper was very helpful with great information about the city and traveling within it.
We would absolutely stay there again.
the breakfast was typically German and very good.

This is a perfect choice for the traveller who wants to stay in the atmosphere of a hotel related to Heidelberg`s prime time in the 19th century when the town got its reputation as the home of the "Philosopher".
LH 0608 The facade of the hotel is very impressive being built in the 17th century in beautiful Renaissance style. The hotel is fantastically located in the middle of the Old Town at the end of the main shopping street, opposite the famous "Holy Ghost Church". The train station is a 20 minute walk away.

For travellers who want to explore the rich cuisine of this region shouldn't miss a meal in one of the restaurants, under no circumstances. LH0608 The hotel has a charming, homely facade. It is a very old building, made of dark grey stone and covered in beautiful flowering plants. The hotel is located on the opposite bank of the River Neckar from the Old Town and castle, in a quiet and very exclusive residential area. The Old Town is just 10 minutes' walk away, over the historic bridge.
The view from the hotel is just spectacular and the famous "Philosopher`s way" is just 5 mins on the same side of the river banks.

The 3 star hotel is located directly in a wonderful part of the old city center of Heidelberg directly down by the river and the old bridge. All major sightseeing attractions in Heidelberg are within at most a five minute reach. Despite the fact that the building is over 300 years old all of the rooms have either a private shower; WC or bath and WC. All doubles and the other large rooms always face the front site.
