We often stay at this hotel chain - they do vary greatly. Our experience at this hotel was fantastic - the room was great and for us the location, perfect. The breakfast buffet although pricey when booked at the hotel is over the top great. And if you can book it as a B&B price, reasonable. We went to Berlin mainly to see the museums. As well as being located near two Underground lines - U2 and U6 it was only a 6.5 Euro cab ride to the Museum Island and also the other museums. Wireless internet is pricey, but free in the lobby. But we walked 3 blocks to cafes where it was free. The next time we go to Berlin, we will stay here.

This hotel was very close to the S-bahn which made it easy to find and get to different parts of the city. I was with my 2 mid-20's sons, so the shower without a door for privacy made it a bit difficult, but overall the hotel was excellent. The buffet breakfast was wonderful!!!

We had one of the best weekends ever. The location is amazing and right beside a central train station that will have you anywhere in the city in minutes. The hotel staff were the friendliest we've ever encountered - from finding us a wine opener very late at night to making sure we were able to find nice restraunts, shops,etc in the area.
The hotel is also beside some of the best nightclubs in the city - it really is in a very "cool" area, with some very trendy bars as well once you go exploring.
We will return in the future! Beats everywhere else we stayed in Berlin hands down.

Pretty nice place. It is about a ten minute walk from the train & subway stations, so getting anywhere in the city was easy. The staff was very nice and the accommodations were suprisingly comfortable and modern for the price.

Ystävällinen ja avulias henkilökunta, siistit tilat, hyvä sauna. Aamiainen kallis (21 €/hlö), huoneessa ei ollut kaikkia toalettitarvikkeita eikä aamutossuja ja aamutakkia. Joulua ei juhlistettu hotellin toimesta muuten kuin tiskillä oli suklaata tarjolla. Sai viettää rauhallisen joulun.

Hotel facilities are rxcellent. Bar food excellent and prices reasonable - breakfast in the restaurant extortionate. There is a fabulous snack bar opposite where we ate breakfast for two for one third of the price for one in the hotel!
Bed made every day and towels changed but room was not vacuumed etc.
Reception staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful in explaining best markets and public transport.
Overall a good experience.

A wonderful hotel at a fantastic price! Walking distance from the Hauptbahnhof which made it easy to get there late at night and leave early in the morning for Munich. Loved that there was laundry right in the room so we could have clean clothing half way through our trip. Also loved how clean, comfortable and modern it was. Everything was perfect!

Lage ist gut. Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel sind in 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar-
Komfort, Preis Leistung stimmig. Frühstücksbrötchen könnten besser gebacken sein - Flecken auf den Teppichböden in den Zimmern sollten unbedingt beseitigt werden, ebenso Kalk- und Rostflecken an der Duschwand und auch an den Waschbecken sollten entfernt werden. Dieses wäre bei täglicher Reinigung mit Essigreiniger auch kein Problem.
Vor acht Jahen bei unsrem ersten Besuch war alles in Ordnung.

Im großen und ganzen waren wir sehr zufrieden ein schönes Zimmer und freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal.
Minus Punkt das Frühstücksbuffet für den Preis halt bescheiden.
Und wir wissen zwar das, das rauchen heute nicht sehr angesehen ist aber Gäste mit einer Tasse Kaffee und Zigarette vor dem Eingangsportal sind auch nicht einladend. Wir denken das dieses Hotel mit Sicherheit andere Möglichkeiten zu bieten hat.

My husband and I just returned from a great trip to Berlin, where we spent seven nights at the Arcotel Velvet. We were very pleased with our hotel choice, both for its convenient access to public transportation and its clean, well-designed rooms. There are scores of bars and restaurants in the immediate area, serving just about every ethnic cuisine you can think of: Brazilian, Cuban, Thai, Italian, Vietnamese, and yes, even German food. We skipped the pricey hotel breakfast and had coffee and pastries every morning at the little coffee shop right next to the hotel -- very friendly service, with some English spoken by most of the employees. Our room was quiet, thanks to the thermal-pane windows and drapes, despite being right above the busy street below (we were on the fifth floor). I notice some reviewers are bothered by the bathroom design, but we thought it was great. Yes, the shower and sink open directly into the room, but there's a sheer wrap-around curtain (which helps to diffuse glare from the bathroom lights) and the toilet area is completely private (i.e., a separate little room with a door). There were plenty of clothes hangars and a large Ikea-type armoire with conveniently-sized shelves and a room safe. Bed linens were high quality, with separate "his and hers" duvets for each side of the bed -- very clever and comfy. If we return to Berlin (which we hope to do, given how much there is to see), we'll definitely stay here again.

Bien placé, bien qu'un peu excentré et pas aisé à trouver de nuit... Une ligne de métro proche permet de se raccorder vite sur l'ensemble de la ville. On peut ainsi rayonner facilement sur Berlin-Mitte ainsi que sur l'ouest et l'est de la ville, tout en en découvrant une bonne partie à pied ou en vélo, dont Kreuzberg tout proche.

Ware für 4 Tage in Berlin. Das Hotel war sauber und hatte alles was man braucht. In der Nähe (ca.200m) ist eine U-Bahnstation. Somit ist man schnell auf dem Potsdammerplatz oder auf dem Alexanderplatz.
Das Hotel kann weiter empfohlen werden.

This hotel is conviently located within 2 blocks of the U2 line. Also Museum Island was a short 5 block walk. Staff at the front desk and at the bar and restaurant were extremely helpful in providing directions and assistance.

Hôtel très central à deux pas de la station de Friedriechstrasse. Très calme et très propre. Petit déjeuner très copieux et varié (avec journaux et magazines, en allemand, chaque matin). Possibilité de laisser ses bagages après le check-out dans une pièce sécurisée. Petit plus appréciable par les grands frimats de l'hiver : une crème pour les mains dans la salle de bains !

Ich hatte das Zimmer für mich alleine gebucht. Es war ein kleines Doppelzimmer, sauber, ruhig, sehr klein aber mit optimal ausgenutztem Platz. Sehr gut ist die Lage, nahe zu Shopping in der Friedrichschen Strasse, zu den Hackschen Höfen, Gendarmenmarkt, auch zur Museumsinsel. Ich bin alles zu Fuss gelaufen. Einziger Nachteil für mich: keine Rolläden.

2 nuits passées dans ce bel hôtel relativement bien placé dans Berlin bien que dans une avenue. mais proche arrêt de bus et métro.

It's hard to articulate what this hotel does that other premium hotels don't. I think they basically do exactly what you want and need, without you having to ask for it. Staying here is EASY. The staff make it EASY. The quality of the rooms make it EASY. The location makes it EASY. Great hotel. Great staff. Will return without a doubt.

Sijainti on loistava, ja lähikulmilta löytyvät mm. ostoskeskus, pieni joulutori ja useita ruokaravintoloita. Aamiainen on erittäin hintava, mutta hotellia vastapäätä on pari kahvilaa, joista saa ihan kohtuullisen makuista kahvia. Larger guest room oli mukava ja tilava, sieltä löytyi kaikki tarpeellinen ja erityisesti kylpyhuone oli hyvin varusteltu. Huonepalvelua en käyttänyt, mutta sen hinnat oli melko kohtuulliset.

The Marriot was an excellent choice for my weekend getaway. Perfect, SAFE location, and the hotel felt top notch. The room was enormous, beds comfy, and even though I'm not a TV person, the TV was huge too. Compared to most european hotels, the spacious comfort was remarkable for the price. Staff were friendly and accommodating, except in the restaurant- disappointingly slow and they got my order wrong twice. The bar, 'Catwalk,' was also super cool with a cocktail list to die for! Wished I could be there longer to sample more of them. Bartenders skilled and sleek, and great DJ too.
Drawbacks were no free wifi, and no proper curtains. I'm very light sensitive, and was out late both nights, so the bright morning light was less than welcome.
Overall, a GREAT choice for the neighborhood!

In 4 minutes you can reach the underground station at U Adenauer Platz or the U Konstanzer Strasse as well as the bus at Olivaer Platz, from where you have easy access to the most interesting tourist sights of Berlin - the Palace Charlottenburg, the Memory Church, the Zoo and Aquarium, the Column of Victory, the Olympic Stadium, the Europa Center, the Brandenburger Gate, the Potsdamer Place and many others.

I had my doubts about online reservations but to my delight, this was a real gem. Close to everything but outside city center enough to be quiet and comfortable. An older hotel with many updated and modern conveniences. The provided breakfast was always fresh, plentyful, and good tasting with many choices. I'd stay there again when back in Berlin.

We booked a doble room but we were given a twin room. After talk to receptionist, he change us to another room (supposed to be a doble room) but we end up with another twin room with the single beds were laid together. But we were so tired to change to another room so we just stay in that room. Not to mention the horrible pillow.
There were no kattle, cups or spoon in the room. The hair dryer blows cold air. The only thing that I like is the breakfast.
With the same amount of money, you should get a better room!

Hotelli sijaitsee hyvien metroyhteyksien päässä kaikesta. Jos haluaa lenkkeillä tai kävellä, hotellilta pääsee suoraan kanavanrantoja pitkin kävelyteitä pitkin. Hotellin viereiset kadut ovat rauhallisia liikenteeltään, eikä hotelliin kuulu melua ulkopuolelta. Aamiainen on runsas ja henkilökunta palvelualtista ja englanninkielen taitoista. Tegelin lentoasemalta TXL-bussilla Alexanderplazille ja sieltä U2-metrolla kaksi pysäkkiä Märkisches Museumille ja ulostultua hotelli on 20 metrin päässä. Todella mahtavaa.

Great place to stay while in Berlin. Very close to the zoo. Walking to the Brandenburg Gate is a hike, but possible. The staff is friendly, and the rooms were comfortable.

Staff needs to be more proactive to greet guests by their name last or first - need to smile more so that guests feel they are welcome. They are doing a good job but they can do even better.
