Das Hotel liegt zentral in Paris und man kann alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sehr gut mit der Metro erreichen. Unser Aufenthalt dauerte knapp 3 Tage und wir haben uns den Eiffelturm, die Katakomben, den Louvre und Notre Dame angesehen. Die nächste Metro-Station ist ca. 2 - 3 Geh-Minuten entfernt. In der Lobby gibt es einen kostenlosen W-LAN Zugang. Die Zimmer sind relativ klein, aber gut ausgestattet und recht sauber. Besonders vom Bad waren wir positiv überrascht (schöne Dusche + extra Badewanne - auch in den Standardzimmern). Das Frühstück des Hotels haben wir nicht genutzt.

Great Staff, Modern Facilities

We stayed for two nights for a city trip. The hotel is right next to the metro station which is only 2stations away from the gare de lyon. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are quite big for Paris. Breakfast was good, they had a buffet with many fruits, many sorts of bread, evian water and even parma or serrano ham. I couldn't expect more for the reasonable prices.

We found this hotel to have pretty decent sized rooms for Paris. You hear such nightmares about the room sizes. We rented two rooms and for some reason one of the rooms was for a handicapped person. There was no "Shower" per se you just showered in the middle of the bathroom. Not sure why they would think that's OK for others. The staff was hit or miss. What you hear about Parisians is unfortunately mostly true, but there were some really great people on the staff also. This hotel is really a business hotel. It is not located in the middle of the tourist areas. It is, however, next to one of the city's largest subway stations, so getting around was very easy, and the price was considerably less than if you were two blocks away from the Louvre or Eiffel Tower,

Our location was excellent, because you could either walk to many of the sights or take one of their trains, because the metro is right there. We were only a block away from the Gare de Lyon and we could easily make our next connection by walking over to it. The area offers great restaurants and some fabulous museums. The Gare De Lyon has a very special Restaurant called Le Blue Traine worth seeing if not going to.

The hotel was only a few minutes walk from a metro station, so we coul get around Paris easily.
The staff were really frienly and helpful.
There was a computer in the reception area for guests to use the internet free of charge.

Novotel is, of course, a chain. But it is a very good one. The location of this modern hotel, in one of the most modern neighborhoods in Paris, is convenient for business purposes: ten minute walk to the Gare de Lyon, and Convention Center, right in the Parc de Bercy for strolling, jogging, etc., next to the Palais Omnisport,a stone's throw from the Cinematheque, a lovely walk through the park and across the footbridge over the Seine to the French National Library (Bibliotheque Mitterand). It is also on the fastest Metro Line (No. 14, Bercy) making it a 10 minute metro ride to the heart of the right bank (Metro Pyramides). So, you can stay here for tourist purposes -- if you know how to use the Metro. Room and bathroom were spotless, large, well noise insulated. The young staff were EAGER to be of help. The Parc de Bercy has lovely gardens and a merry-go-round for the kids. So, the place is also quiet and restful!

A spotless and modern room

We were pleasantly surprised, given the reviews we read here, at the modern, clean and comfortable room. The staff didn't slobber all over us, but they were friendly and helpful enough.
The bathroom, along with the translucent wall that separates it from the outer room, was very stylish.
There is a noisy and bustling street outside, with constant honking. It it is Paris, after all.
The hotel and the room are a million times cleaner and more pleasant than the filthy and disgusting metro station one block away, and a very nice oasis to retreat to after enduring said filthy and disgusting metro station. Take a cab to this hotel if you can afford it. Take cabs everywhere in Paris if you can afford it.

The location was great. 1 block from the Metro. Only truely bad part of hotel is they were doing remodeling and a jackhammer was being used. Started at 9:00am impossible to sleep in and staff did not seem to care.

Angenehmes, renoviertes Stadthotel mit guter Anbindung an das Metro-Netz.
Sehr gutes Angebot am Frühstücksbuffet,
wirklich freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.
Als Gast fühlt man sich hier sehr gut betreut.
Zimmer der Kategorie entsprechend.

Better than expected!!

This hotel was really much better than we expected. The location was right across the street from the Metro. there is a small bakery, and a cafe next door. A grocery is across the street. A major rail station is a couple blocks away. The room was very clean. The a/c didn't seem to do much but with the windows closed and the fan on it was quiet. We opened the windows to cool it out in the evenings, but the street noise would have been too much to leave them open at night. The hotel had the normal European amenities that take some getting used to, but were fine. We thought the optional 17 Euro breakfast was a little high, but the food was good, we did not eat it but once. We had no hot water one night, and were the only room to have an issue. The person at the desk made some valving changes, and we got rusty water with reduced pressure for a while, but all was well the next day. I count this as a freak happening not as the norm. Overall, we think this hotel was a very good value.

Great convenience for the price

We stayed for a week at Hotel Dore in September 2011. We read a lot of reviews about this hotel and settled on this one. Sure enough, we had
smallish room with a smallish bathroom but with a really great shower. We have been in smaller rooms and elevators in Europe. We slept well on the one bed in a quiet, corner room on the 5th level. (Hint: Larger sized persons might find the hotel rooms too small.) Plenty of places to eat nearby, including a Subway and a Big
Mac,not too far. Most importantly, the metro station (Daumesnil) is right next to the hotel, so after loading up with a "continental" breakfast in the hotel, we were off each day to explore the city with
a "carnet" of tickets in hand. Overall, the quiet hotel was perfect for us, made even more terrific by the receptionists all of whom were able to converse with us in English
and were unstinting in their efforts to help us with maps, directions, places to visit etc. Kudos to Geraldine and Claire for their assistance
in making our stay most pleasurable.

Je retournerais a cette Hotel, completement rénover, chambre petite mais très bien organisé. Très bien situé dans un quartier avec tous les services, deux lignes de métro à proximité permettant d'avoir accès à tous les attraits de la ville. Personnel très aimable.

basic, clean, convenient = value

Was in Paris for a short trip, have stayed in many small hotels. This one was quite spacious compared to the really tiny rooms closer to the center (e.g. near Opéra). Room had a fridge (always a plus and way to save $$). The location is perfect, fairly easy to get to from the airport (RER B to Chatelet, then the #1 metro down a few stops) - Gare de Lyon (and the other metro also very close is Reuilly-Diderot) is convenient if any onward train journeys as well. Also lots of options for meals (Chinese, Turkish, and other regular cafés, and brasseries). One take-out joint right next door, without the best food, but if in a pinch could be a life-saver. Hotel offers a 9 euro breakfast, I would pass - pick up something from the many grocery stores and visit one of the several bakeries. The staff is a mixed bag, some pretty competent and knowledgeable, another who couldn't even tell me where to find an exchange bureau. But all very courteous and friendly. One shortcoming is that the hotel did not provide tea/coffee making facilities - that makes a huge difference. Was not traveling with children this time so did not really matter too much to me, I don't know it they might have provided it if asked, I did not bother. Bathroom, bathtub, linen, everything was very clean. Couldn't ask for more.

Hotel rooms were cute and comfortable. There was an air conditioner in the room which was great - not always a given. The windows were french casement and fully opened to a great street view. The staff was helpful. We did not speak french other than Bonjour and Merci, but the staff was able to communicate well with us. They have a secure entrance that is always staffed. The hotel is within a short walk of 2 metro stations. Gare de Lyon is a major hub with both trains and metro and is just down the street. We came in from the eurostar chunnel and had to hop one short train ride to get to the Gare de Lyon. From there, it was about 6-7 blocks to the hotel. Easy! it was not a very touristy part of paris but there were plenty of restaurants right nearby. We walked most places and reserved the metro for the end of the night. Paris is really easy to navigate if you pick up a simple map.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

[...]remote from central city...streets at night pretty empty..most businesses close and street is virtually all metal shutters. Hotel was clean but old. Rooms small, but not unusual size for older, inexpensive hotel.

The front desk staff were very earnest and eager to please. However, when I arrived, the lift was not working, and my room was on the sixth floor. A little inconvenient. The room was really nice, and the full breakfast was served in my room. Excellent location for my needs. Will go back if the prices hold.

Hotel was conveniently located at about 5 mins walk from the metro. Room was decent by Paris standards for the price paid. I would stay here again if on a budget in paris.
